I was in town for a basketball tournament with my son and I made the decision to stay at a less expensive hotel as a way of saving money. This was a huge mistake. While the hotel was close to the venue and parking was free and there was always a spot available when we pulled in, the hotel was subpar to say the least. The room was not very clean, we didn't dare walk on the floor in our bare feet, the bathroom was not clean and there were various stains on the blankets and floors. I will say that every member of staff I came in contact with was very friendly and helpful but even that was nowhere near enough for me to ever consider staying at the Country Inn & Suites again. read more

I was comfortable staying here on my solo trip because of the location and my own safety devices in the room. It was a quiet stay in a spacious room. The latch that went over the little knob on the door was missing. The room was a little dated. The carpet had what seemed to be fresh fruit punch stains. I deduced that as there was still sticky residue on the nightstand between the beds. The desk and top of the microwave also had sticky residue as well. There were loose tiles in the bathroom floor in front of the tub/toilet which I could hear shifting as I entered and exited the shower or actually used the facilities. The sheets and pillow cases were clean with no stains or visible bugs. I prefer more firm beds which this bed was and it was very uncomfortable for me. Check in was pretty quick. read more

As Country Inn and Suites chain goes, this one is sub pare. Picked this chain because in my experience they are clean ,warm and friendly. This had none of that charm,loud guests, (it is near the coliseum and there was a punk band performing) who partied until 4 am. A heater that didn't work,and a phone that couldn't connect to the front desk made calling about the noise difficult. But at 4 am I was going to get out of my blankets and walk down the 3 flights of stairs to complain. Yup elevator didn't work either. read more

My wife and I spent a night at the Country Inn & Suites by Radisson; we rode the motorcycle 6 hours to Hampton and were tired but the check in went smooth. The hotel location is fine, the lobby and the rooms are nice, the man at check in was very pleasant. I was surprised that the reviews showed only a 7.4 out of ten (I was not surprised in the morning). We got to the room and went to dinner, returned and quickly fell asleep. When we woke in the morning and turned back the comforter we found cigarette burns and BLOOD STAINS on the comforter. It had been laid on the stained / burned side to hide the marks; the shower floor was also a little dirty. Sleeping on blood stained sheets is simply unacceptable! I mentioned this to the morning clerk, and he wrote the info down and apologized. I'd give this one a 5 of 10, find another hotel. read more

My stay was noisy, generator or some machine ran off and on all night. The breakfast was the worst free BF I've ever had. The hot food was cold- wouldn't even melt my he grated cheese and the waffle tasted sour. There was no oatmeal , my expectations are always low at these BF, but this was the worst. read more

I decided to book this hotel for the first time to celebrate myself and my hubby's birthday. I want to start by saying the staff was very friendly and went out their way to make you feel at ease. The breakfast was delish, as well, and they switched it up everyday. However, Upon entering my room I saw many flaws that I wasn't too pleased about. The first flaw was noticing certain parts of the carpet ripped. The second flaw was noticing certain parts of the ceiling stained. The third flaw was the dirty vent and cracked ceiling in the bathroom. Another flaw was the hole in my comforter, a few holes in the walls, chipped paint on the bottom of the door, and a dirty old couch. The walls are thin so I could hear conversations in the room next to me. At this point im just trying to make the best of it. Not sure if I will ever stay at this hotel again. Outside of hotel is very nice. Lobby is nice. However, when we went to our room trash was left in the hall, shower curtain in room had mold on it and it took at least 15 for hot water to come on for shower. Bathroom has a small sink with no light. So difficult to see to put on makeup or shave. We were staying 4 nights which they charge upfront. When we went to breakfast the eggs, biscuits and gravy were all cold and the spray was out for the waffles. It was opened at 7 and it was around 7:30 when we went to get breakfast! The first day we came back the room had been cleaned with new towels and linens changed. The second night we came in to a dirty room. Trash not emptied, bed not changed or made and no new towels!! We have been very disappointed in this hotel! It does have a refrigerator and microwave but you can tell it's very old and really not well kept!! Will not stay here again! We have stayed in Country Inn and Suites before that were really nice, this is not one of them!!! read more

We had a 4 night stay. Day 1 arrived to a not very clean room. Black mold on fabric shower curtain. All floors si dirty I would not get out of bed without my shoes on. On day 2 we came back late afternoon to wet towels in bath. Called the desk and were told we had to call to ask for towel change. The next day we called before leaving for the day. Still nothing. I didn't expect 4 star quality but I do expect quality. Got this room on a deal from booking.com weeks in advance for the 4th of July. The reviews were good enough to sway me into making a reservation for my mom, brother & me. The front desk attendant was nice but it looked like they were understaffed. The hotel apparently was fully booked & there must be a family reunion here as there are children running up & down the halls, slamming doors, yelling & doing what unsupervised kids do. The room itself is ok but they don't even have the usual "hotel cable" set up & the remote only works if you're kind of close to the TV. When my mom & I sat on the bed it buckled a bit & was a bit wonky after that. Overall I'd only stay here ever in life again if my car broke down near by on a dark & stormy night & was afraid that Jason was gonna get me. My daughter absolutely loves hotels, so it's nothing to get a room on the other side of town just to please her. We booked the room the same day (about 11am) and was told check in will be at 3:00 pm...cool! We had a movie date at 4:00 pm which was minutes away. Sooooo 3pm rolls around and we are told the room is not ready... no rooms are ready for check-in. Using my patience, I said ok. However, others came in after us and checked into their rooms without any hassle or being told "your room is not ready yet." Long review short, the room was not ready until 4 pm. I asked for a supervisor (none available). I asked to speak to someone in charge (none available). Needless to say, my attitude changed from thrilled to disgusted. The excuse was "we had large parties and the hotel sold out last night and tonight". My point was this is a hotel chain, are you not prepared to handle such business...Nevertheless, the stay overall was just ok. We receieved calls about noise coming from our room. And at the time, we just walked into the room from our night out. Just an awful experience! The pool area is small but it was just enough to please my daugther and it was not too busy with guests the time we went. I should've checked my handy dandy Yelp app before coming here, but it was last minute and only for the night so I said why not. I was in the middle of my shower only to turn around and notice blood at the top of the shower curtains in the corner (pic will be posted). The receptionist was very nice and let me switch my room. She even called the room to ask me if that room was better. Getting out of the shower with soap on you, getting dressed, & having to move your things to another room is quite the inconvenience. Another thing, the tv remote does not work very well. You have to be literally within a foot from the tv for it to work. I wish I would have asked for a refund and went elsewhere, but the lady was very nice and understanding of my frustrations. read more

WARNING MAIDS ROBBING MONEY ** So I booked 3 room from the country inn in Hampton Va for myself and my basketball team since it's down the street from Boo Williams. I put the do not disturbed sign on the door for the three rooms while we were gone the maids still came in and cleaned . After we came back from our b-ball tourmeant . One of my players noticed that someone stole money from his backpack . We called the front desk and they had two men come and check what times people came in and out the room. The man was not trying to show me that the maids came in at 9:30 am and also at 11am . And he made a smart comment saying that it was maybe was of the players who stole it . He left and never said anything back . After I went downstairs to see what info they had for me and he said he was going to make a police report which was a lie. He asked me how much money was missing and paid me in cash and told me not to say anything . Later I asked my other player from the second room if anything was missing and they said they was missing money that was left on the counter . The manager insisted that I shouldn't call the cops. Staying at this property was a mixed bag of tricks for us. Check-in was relatively easy and straightforward and check-out was quick and easy. The room was comfortable enough and fairly spacious. It also had peeling wall paper in the bathroom. Of greatest issue for us, though, was the horrible noise level of staying in this room. There was an incessant thumping that began sometime after 10:00 p.m. and continued until well after midnight. When I called down to the front desk to have someone on the hotel's staff do something about this problem, I got a terse "We'll have someone look into this matter." with no apology offered. In addition to no apology, there was also no quick resolution to the noise problem AND nothing offered by the hotel by way of compensation for our trouble/inconvenience. This is NOT the way for a hotel property to treat its guests. read more

This hotel is located in a very convenient spot right off of 64. Somewhat iffy neighborhood behind it, but the nearby shopping center seemed like a good one. Front desk staff were all slooooowww, but the room itself was clean, with a large, comfortable bed. Breakfast was eggs, bacon, and potatoes (took a while to get these refilled) some pastries, and a waffle maker. The website lies. There is no hot tub. The pool is closed with a layer of scum over it. None of the equipment in the very tiny "fitness room" works. The wi-fi might as well not exist since it spent more time out than on. Our room did not get cleaned, and there is food or something smeared on one of the quilts. Yes, I did talk to house keeping about it, but it wasn't fixed. And yes, I talked to management about the hot tub and pool and was given a run-around about how "they" keep correcting the website, but "they" keep unfixing it. If you just need a place to crash, then it's okay, but I chose this place at the end of a VERY long trip specifically so I could stretch and exercise and fix my back. read more

Wow! What a great find. First off,  checkout at 12 pm - YESSSS PLEASE! Usually I stay in Williamsburg when we are visiting Busch Gardens and Hampton Roads attractions, but this hotel changed my mind. Located a super easy 25 minute drive from Busch Gardens and super close to all the kid stuff we enjoy like Bluebird Gap Farm, VA Zoo, VA Living Museum and Children's Museums to mention just a few. Lots of shopping and food options are within a reasonable distance. Free delicious cookies had my son relaxed at check in. Every staff member we encountered from the check-in to breakfast to housekeeping were SOOO friendly. I asked for a quiet space and the check in lady knew right where to put me! And yes, it was super quiet. A lot of hotels of this grade have loud hallways, but not this one. I didn't hear a peep. The pool was a bit too cold and according to the chart posted hadn't been tended to in 9 days, but, it was open from 6 am to 12 am which is really quite long as compared to similar properties. The breakfast was super lacking - really runny "eggs"with some terrible turkey sausage. Waffles, cereal (but no milk?) , muffins and such. It pleased my 2 year old, but I was definitely still hungry. A plus - the coffee was good and the hours were pretty extensive. Rooms were comfy and clean. Lots of TV channels. Large toiletries in the bathrooms and plenty of hot water.  4.5 out of 5! read more

My husband and I wanted to get away for the night and also do some Christmas shopping. We wanted a room with a whirlpool tub and this is the only one I could find in the area so we booked without reading reviews. When we arrived the parking lot was empty, we arrived early so I was no concerned but my husband voiced his concern. The lobby was gorgeous upon entering! The man at the desk was very welcoming and we were able to check in no problems. Our room was the King Whirlpool room on the first floor so no stairs. The room was clean just odd the coffee maker was so close to the toilet. I did not use it for that reason so I can't comment about the coffee this hotel serves. TV worked fine and we could see it clearly from the whirlpool tub. My only complaint about the room is the A/C unit did not cool very well, I had trouble sleeping because the room was too hot. Not the hotels fault completely but maybe consider some sort of sound barriers between rooms. I could hear my neighbors porn late that night. Overall I would definitely stay at this hotel again if I'm in the area again, thanks for the hospitality! read more

The hotel was clean but there is where it stops. It is need of a lot of maintenance. Many of the thing were not working of broken. Like lights in the room, toilet not flushing, TV's not working and internet not staying connected. There were three ice machines in the hotel but only one working. Water leak in one of the rooms and my son had to move to another room. One of our party had a ant infestation and they said they could not do anything or change her room. The breakfast was fine but the one staff could not keep up with the demand. Also, clothes dryer was not working. read more

Country Inn fills that middle line where it is not too pricy that my wallet complains (I am often here on my own expense because of Army duty) and the "don't look anywhere but ahead because you will be skeeved out by what you see" category of hotels. My fiancé and I stay at a lot of hotels this one was by far the worse, from our a.c breaking, the jacuzzi not working right to having blood on our sheets. When telling the manager about our experience he then tells us we should have stayed somewhere else. Stayed the weekend to go fishing in the area. We use this chain occasionally and theyre pretty decent but inconsistent. Friday night around 11 arrived and sliding lobby door locked which is normal for that area. No problem. I peered in door and desk had two attendants. She was doing paperwork and not helping customers. Tall older guy in suit and glasses was handling queue. I knocked and no one responded. I knocked again and he looked up, stepped to wall to hit the door button but he didnt hold it down long enough so door jerked open 3 inches and stopped. I figured it must slide but iffered stiff reaistance andbi didnt want to dorse it so i knocked again. This time they both looked up then returned to what they were doing. So i pulled the doors open. The dooors didnt enjoy it but dammit im a hotel guest and its late and we just drove 6 hours after working all day. The room was pretty decent tho TV remote didnt work. Big disappointment was housekeeping. Stayed 2 nites and when we returned returned to room yesterday, the bedspread was pulled up on the sofa bed...but the sheets were still rumpled up. The king bed wasnt made. We'd pulled the covers up some that morning and it hadnt been touched. We had freash towels which was good. No...we didnt accidentally leVe out the DND sign. Owners plan here is to not spend money. The roomrate brings in the business....but i can tell you most wont return. Hey owner....we're good for about 10 room nights every year in Hampton....and youre not getting any more of them. read more

Me and my mother checked in for the night and the room is nice but the AC does not work correctly and the the cable does not work. And to top it off, since the cable did not work, I decided to go in the business office and get on the computer. I was opening the cabinets to see if I could find a pen and the lady at the front desk happened to be looking in the window at me and was like "there is nothing in those cabinets for you why are you looking through them." And my reply was well since this is a "business office" I am looking for a pen ! I decided to just go back to my room. About a half hour later I go to eat my yogurt and I don't have a spoon. So I go into the room where people eat breakfast and grab a spoon. The same lady was like "what are you doing in there?, why are you in the drawer?" Like are you serious lady?! I arrived to see an 8/10 sign on the front door and was rather happy to see it. I walked in at 11:00 am and they said my room wouldn't be ready until 11:30. 1:00 i was still waiting and at 1:30 I finally got into my room going up a strangely placed elavator that probably could have broke on the spot. I enter my room to see a decent view but the mattress was awful and the sheets smelt terrible. I ordered a trundle bed for my son and it arrived yet it was literally only springs he layed on it and said it actually hurt to lay down. I ended up letting him sleep in the bed with me it was so bad. The next day we went out and came back expecting a clean room after being out until 5 yet we got back and our room was exactly the same. I went down and asked the front desk to get house keeping to clean our room before we got back from dinner and she said ok yet when we got back after 2 hours it was the same so I told her and she didn't do anything. The following day we went out yet again and came back to the SAME THING! I told her again yet nothing else happened. Do not I repeat do not stay here this place is absolutely horrible I would not be able to be payed to stay here again. read more

Okay so the name says "Country" and the hotel room was indeed that. The bedding and curtains could use some upgrading BUT... I'd stay here again! I actually enjoyed my one night stay here. This is about as close as I'd get to a bed and breakfast setting. The next morning, I slipped on some clothes and my flip flops and headed downstairs. There were two cooks sitting in the waiting area, and they immediately greeted me with "Good Morning!" I loved that! The breakfast was okay. I had hoped to get more hot items. I wouldn't recommend this hotel to anyone! I have stayed at this hotel many times over the years with no issues. I made a reservation months ago for a June 2015 music festival at the Hampton Coliseum. I never received a confirmation email and could not locate the confirmation number. So the week of the festival, I called to verify my reservation. The reservationist could not find it. I called back several times and asked that they recheck their system but was told that my reservation was not there. Hotels in Hampton were completely sound out for that weekend so I had to return home after the festival, a 2 1/2 hour drive. Two days ago I noticed that my credit card was charged for that night. They couldn't find my reservation in their system prior to the festival but was able to locate it to charge me for a one night's stay! I tried to contact the general manager, Mr. Patel, several times but was told that he was out. He finally returned my call after 3 days and was very RUDE!! He insinuated that I was a LIAR, then finally came right out and called me one! He said that when the reservationist could not locate my reservation, I should have asked for him. I had reservations for the night that I spoke with Mr. Patel as well (as I said, I've stayed at this hotel many times over the years). Mr. Patel cancelled my reservation and told me that he did not need my business! Wow! Regarding a refund from the June stay, Mr. Patel said that he would consult with the owners and let me know what they said. According to Mr. Patel, I cannot speak with the owners directly. These owners may need to review who they put in charge of their hotel if this is the way a returning customer is treated. In the past, I encouraged an out-of-state friend to use this hotel for his family reunion, stayed here many times over the years, and recommended this hotel to others. This post is about two months delayed. I would recommend the Country Inn and Suites by Carlson in Hampton Virginia to anyone! We ordered our room on a third party site. On the site it noted that the hotel had a Hot tub. It was a toss up between the Country Inn and other hotel that was cheaper with the same amenities. We went with Country Inn because it was closer to my mother and I am her caregiver. We got to the hotel after 2 weeks straight of non stop working and a 3 1/2 hour holiday traffic ride from DC. The foyer was beautiful and right away I was glad we chose this hotel. We get checked and immediately went to check out the Hot Tub. It was covered up!!!! After talking to the front clerk we found out it closed due to constant breakdowns. This was unexpected and unacceptable. We asked to speak to a manager. I guess he could see the sadness, frustration and exhaustion on my face. He upgraded us to a jacuzzi suite! I was so grateful. He had turned this nightmare into a private spa retreat. To be honest, he did not have to. He told us that he had sent to all his third party booking agency notice that their hotel Hot Tub was discontinued. The staff was great and the breakfast had plenty of option. We will return! read more
