My husband and I stayed at the Sonesta for about a week while visiting the VA beaches. Our check-in was less than smooth as we arrived at 2:30p on Saturday and when attempting to check in early as I'm 5 months pregnant and wanted to rest a bit, I was met with contempt and a reaction of "the rooms aren't ready, check back in within an hour." The front desk assistant was less than helpful and uninterested in my current state and there was no sense of urgency in assisting. We left and returned at 4p for check in and were met with a long line of customers attempting the check in, but rooms still weren't ready and the front desk staff couldn't be bothered to try and accommodate. A customer and a member of staff began quarreling over the lack of respect the staff was showing and the manager had to get involved. We then checked in and were placed at the top floor as the manager wanted to accommodate my pregnancy and rest with less noise and traffic, which I greatly appreciated. The room was sufficient in providing a kitchenette area, a desk, drawers, closet, and a comfy bed. The bathroom had no ventilation, making showering a very humid and gross. I did appreciate the cleaning staff as they were all friendly and quick to assist with anything needed. Also, the laundry and dryer services are featured as a commodity of your stay, so that was also nice to expedite laundry. There was a beautiful lake in the back of the hotel and a little duck family that was terribly friendly and cute. I appreciate the hotel looks after the ducks by leaving out food and water for the animals. Overall, I didn't appreciate the customer service staff as they were always lackluster in assistance and respect. The cleaning staff was great, but I'm unsure if my husband and I will stay there again. read more

My family and I who recently moved across the country, stayed in this hotel for an extended period of time since it is one of the few that accept pets. The rates for this hotel would lead you to think the accommodations would match but that is false. We stayed at this location for three weeks and cut our visit short due to glaring issues. Specially, mold in the HVAC located in the room from a dirty filter that clearly hadn't been serviced in quite some time. When brought to the staffs attention, they stated after each visit, the filters are serviced. However, they couldn't deny the truth once confronted with the filter. This situation landed our toddler in the hospital since the mold in the air inflamed his respiratory system. The other issues we had are: Room Service ONLY ONCE a week- When paying $100 a night for an extended stay, this is unacceptable. They are already charging a pet fee and the cleaning they offer is subpar. We requested to borrow a mop and vacuum to do it ourselves since they don't offer ones in the rooms. The vacuum didn't work which questions what type of cleaning they actually do. We brought this up a copious amount of times and it was left unresolved by the management. Room accommodations are subpar- For the $100 rate, you get a studio and no where for an infant or toddler to sleep. On a positive note, the staff was friendly for the most part. The laundry room was spacious which is much needed. Overall, a poor experience at this hotel and would not recommend to any families looking at this location as an extended stay. read more

My boyfriend had to go to Hampton for work and they put him up here. I met him and was pleasantly surprised by the comfort of the room. Nice bed and pillows, clean and modern. Simply with everything you need. Plus there was a nice kitchen in the room with a full sized fridge. And, the staff was friendly and helpful. Would definitely stay here again. read more

I stayed here for 2 weeks recently. This was not my usual hotel but after I got my daily routine down, this became one of my favorites. Finding the hotel for the first time was a bit of a hassle. The building was located behind trees and the signage is small. Fortunately, the roads are easy to drive on and the highway is easily accessible. There was ample parking. The checkin process was quick and there were multiple doors to the outside such that it was easy to park close to an entrance. I was surprised on how large the bathroom was. Since there was no included breakfast, I made full use of the kitchen to cook my meals. Utensils and cookware was included but there was no sponge nor dish soap. There was a dishwasher though. The LCD TV was large and there was a good selection of HD channels. I watched a bunch of HBO shows here and even saw "Game of Thrones" for the first time. The WiFi connection was great during my stay and the free laundry facilities is a great perk. There was a plumbing issue in one of the units above me and maintenance was proactive in addressing the issue. I didn't notice it until maintenance asked to check my room for water leakage and discovered that a bit of water was going through the walls. Once the issue was resolved, it was as if it never happened. This place is pet friendly and quite a few of my neighbors on the first floor brought their dogs. read more

My husband and I chose Sonesta in Hampton as most reviews were good, and the price was great compared to other motels in the area. Our experience was quite mixed: Yes, the property is nice, there is a pond in the back and the window in the room did open. Clearly, there have been upgrades (new counter, faucets, etc.). However, the front desk staff were glumly efficient, the room had half a roll of toilet paper and, as others have written, the corridors smelled odd, unpleasant. My main concern was that there was no mattress cover, discovered because small things (feathers?) were poking through the bottom sheet from inside the mattress. We slept on top of the comforter. Besides being uncomfortable, I became uneasy about cleanliness in general and was glad to leave in the morning. Stayed 4 nights while visiting relatives in the area. Queen bed with a small kitchen. Fridge, dishwasher, 2 burner stove, micro. Not a fan of the fridge in the room turning on in the middle of the night. "Cook's cupboard" provides free coffee 24/7, convenience foods for purchase, washers/dryers and a cardio room. DVDs and can be checked out from the desk. Free wifi and daily paper for Candlewood club members. Sign up. It was raining a bunch, but this area didn't flood. It would have been nice if the facility had a covered portico for loading unloading luggage. Close to restaurants and shopping, but tucked away in a quiet area. Walls are paper-thin. I was kept awake by screaming kids and barking dogs. Funky smell from ozone cleaners and indoor cooking. Trash often left in the hallways. Nice that they offer free laundry and provide gas grills for cooking, but I will not stay here again. Not clean and quite enough. read more

I will never stay anywhere else while staying in Hampton. Id like to clarify a few things. I am a traveler that likes my privacy. This place is perfect for that. Each room is like a studio apartment. Much more like home. It is hard to find because of area regulations the sign is low to the ground and there is a big electrical box blocking from view in one direction. They don't clean the rooms everyday. There is free laundry. Wifi worked great. Everything was pretty new and in good shape. People are rough on hotel rooms, so they aren't going to be 100% brand new looking for ever. For the money this is hands down the best place to stay in town. read more

I have stayed in a lot of Hotels in Hampton in the past 3+ years. Since most of them are nothing more than a place to lay my head I (since I am often very busy with Guard work when I am down here) generally I stay in the lower priced ones. And I have learned what hotels to avoid (unfortunately a long list). I am happy to say that the price-point and amenities that this place offers will ensure that I will return to it. Located in a quite location (back deep in a business park) I can see the benefits of this place for the people who are staying here for a while. My only real complaint is that the towels are kind of bad, if I stay again the odds are I might bring my own. read more

This place is a bit hard to find - the sign out front could be better to find in the dark for sure!! The lobby is really small so I would recommend checking in and then going out to get your belongings. I wouldn't say the place was dirty but we had 2 rooms and there were just little things here and there that could be fixed/updated. The leather chairs in the rooms had rips in them and I though there wasn't a trash can in my rooms bathroom - turned out it was under the sink, even though the height of the can made it barely fit there. I thought that was kind of odd/misplaced. The ice maker in our freezer didn't work but the other rooms did quite well. Overall it seemed clean so it was fine for a place to crash for the night, nothing like other Hampton's I have stayed in - if this is meant to be a Hampton. read more

I highly recommend this hotel to everyone! I am in the military and stayed here for a couple nights right before I moved. The rooms are really nice and have a full size kitchen! Also if you need to do laundry, there's a free laundromat downstairs. For the price you pay you honestly get a lot more. Also the staff there my life so much easier. My husband and I stayed here for approximately 4 months. I absolutely love the place and the employees are very nice and helpful. The room is very nice with lots of drawers and closet space if you're going to be staying for a while. I really liked the one bedroom suite. They have free laundry with detergent for a cheap price or you can bring your on. They also have an exercise room that I used often. Plus across the street from this hotel is a 3 mile trail around a golf course, if you enjoy a good walk or run. They also have a little store were u can buy snacks and stuff. Even though I thought the prices for that stuff was to expensive. I was happy to make this my home for a while and hated when it was time to leave. I made lots of new friends here. To my excellent cleaning ladies, you girls keep up the good work. To the maintenance man thanks for all that u do. To the front desk girls y'all are very helpful. read more

We stayed here for a month in May. Loved our room - one bedroom suite. It's like a small apartment. Wished there was a balcony. Awesome laundry room. Our housekeeper was Candace. She was very nice! The only thing that was a bummer is that other guests who have pets just let them do their business anywhere & don't pick up after them. There's a picnic table on one side to be able to relax after a day of work, yet there always seemed to be some sort of dog doo there. The only time it was picked up was if the landscaper was able to run over it & grab it with the lawnmower. Other than that we loved staying there. read more

I reserved a room two months in advance for an event in Norfolk. Something came up and we were no longer able to attend. They said the deposit for the room was non-refundable - only the deposit for the room was the entire amount. The hotel, as well as corporate, refused to give a refund or even change our reservation. This place was a disappointment. My family and I stayed there the week of 9/1/20 for an extended stay I would expect them to have ventilation in the bathroom, and a hot breakfast using CDC protocol. Another thing I was discussed by was the pull out couch and the reclining chair smelled like feet and animals. This let's me know that you cleaning crew was not cleaning the furniture and following CDC protocol of sanitizing everything between each customer. read more

My husband and I stayed here for two weeks while visiting our kids. The hotel was in a great location. It was quiet. We wanted a hotel where we could cook meals and we had a full (but small) fully stocked kitchen. It was perfect. We ate at the big table/work space. At night we had a couch to sit and relax. It was nice having a door to the bedroom so if one of us was up early we wouldn't disturb the other person sleeping. The cleaning staff was great and respectful that we had our cat. It was nice to have laundry machines on site too. Front desk staff was friendly. We will stay here when we come back to see our kids. read more

I travel sometimes for my company witch pays for my rooms. this is the first time in all may stays that I have been asked for a credit card when the rooms are already payed for. after checking out and returning home I has two pending charges to my card when notifying the hotel of what's going on I got sorry our fault. sorry doesn't help when they put your account on hold for there mistakes. This place was awesome and very affordable. I stayed at room 309. The room came equipped with a small kitchen and it had plates, cups, mugs, cooking wares, a dish washer... I mean everything you need to cook and eat your meal. My room was clean and quiet. It was a 10 minutes drive to the mall. The staff was friendly and courteous. I would definitely recommend this place. I hardly write reviews on hotels, but this one was so impressive!! It's had a laundry room and it's free!!!! I don't know what else to say, but it was an amazing stay. read more

I got bedbugs from this hotel even though it looked clean to me. I would not advise anyone stay here.
