I usually love this place but ngl I've been here for an hour and told the workers 3 times that I didn't have my pizza as they gave us other parts of our order and we STILL have not got it. I told them 25 minutes ago about the pizza and my bf just had to go BACK up and they STILL haven't started it. NYC food at starving college student prices! Listen, when I go to a town, I make it my mission to find the best pizza, the best taco and the best burger. I was in town for a wedding and Mama Mia's definitely clinches the best pizza around. I'm a Chicago boy but I love my NYC style, too, and this place hits it out of the park. I'm surprised the ratings aren't higher. The restaurant is located on the Main Street of a cute college town (SUNY Geneseo). At Mama Mia's I ate the Bianca (white pizza with ricotta is how I judge all NY style pizza places), which was rich and garlicky and delicious. The Sausage and the mushroom pizzas were fantastic as well. The owner, Eddie (from Brooklyn, I found out), was making the pies when I walked in. I saw some slices behind the counter with shaved ham and sesame seeds on the crust. He asked me what I was looking at and I told him I wanted to make sure there was no pineapple. He laughed and said, "No judgement" -- I told him I do judge and I'm glad no pineapple was in sight! He took a slice and heated it up and gave it to me to eat (for free!) while I was waiting for the rest of my order. The sesame seeds on the crust were a revelation!! I loved the place so much I came back a second time a day later. If you are looking for fantastic NY pizza, this is the place. Oh, and the chicken Caesar salad was really good, too. read more

On a tip from a friend, we stopped at Mama Mia in Geneseo on our way home from Letchworth State Park. We had the super gooey mozzarella sticks, an Eggplant Parm Pizza (made by request), and the Butcher Block Pizza. This is as close to NYC style pizza as we've had living in Upstate/Western NY. The crust was thin, sliced big enough to fold, appropriate amount of cheese grease (if you know, you know). In 17 years of people recommending pizza places that are "really good, no seriously", this was the first one that lived up to the suggestion. Amazing fast service for call in at 12:00 lunch. 15min a medium was done. This was the thinnest best pizza I have had in upstate NY in a very long time! Low amount of salty oily cheese, thin crispy light dough, and thin pepperoni! 1 bite... it gets a 8.2 score! Would have been in the 9's if it held a crisp on the undercarriage! Amazing customer service! Called in for deliver due to us staying at a local winery, they were on time, and professional. Pizza was great after a long days driving on our cross country trip. Decent local pizza place. The crust was a bit over done and somewhat oily, but surprisingly good. It's a good place if you want a quick slice, although the slices to go looked as if they had been sitting for a while, so we ordered an entire pizza - half pepperoni and cheese. The service was good and it only took about 15 minutes for the pizza to arrive. It's a sit down restaurant, but feels more like a college town late night pizza joint, which it is, so not sure what I was expecting? They also offered free Italian ice for kids, which was nice. Best pizza in Geneseo (in my opinion) and would be 4+ stars were it not for the following: 1. Every time I order delivery it takes TOO LONG!!! 2. Even worse, the pizza is usually cold by the time it gets there. And I live in town, close to them. Last time I ordered (just last week) I actually asked them if they have the insulated sleeves the chain pizza places use to keep the pizza warm during delivery, they DON'T. 3. The one time I went to them to pick it up (wanting for a hot pizza - imagine that) it still took forever. 4. I like extra sauce on my pizza and ask for it every time. A TIMELESS GENESEO ESTABLISHMENT. Mama Mia's has been around for decades and will never close, even as the area becomes overrun with corporations and chain restaurants. The pizza here is a marriage of perfectly crisp/chewy crust, gooey cheese, and zesty pepperoni that is unlike any pizza in Geneseo. Sure, it's greasy. Deal with it. You can either blot it (like a bitch) or you can sop it up with parmesan cheese like I do. A little cheese and a lot of crushed pepper usually does the trick. When I'm home, I enjoy coming here after a night of dancing with 18-year olds at the IB or an impromptu class reunion at the Vital Spot. You can't beat $2.00 slices, especially when you're really drunk and really hungry. The wings here are also a solid choice. Get the catatonic sauce if you dare. I usually wash my meal down with a loganberry juice. Some crazy shit happens here when the bars close, so you might want to come here earlier in the day if you don't enjoy seeing drunk college kids puking all over the place and making rude comments. Take-out pizza from Mia's is never as good as in-house slices. Also, don't bother with the calzones, they're gross. Get a straight-up cheese or cheese and pepperoni slice and you'll be in heaven. read more

Usually don't order from this place. Have not in years. My son wanted to, so we ordered a large cheese pizza. Person on phone was very short with me... no big deal. Pizza tasted like cardboard. Not impressed. When I went to through away the box I noticed the tag on the box was not my name and ordered was taken 25 minutes before I ordered. This is where you go for pizza in Geneseo. There are other options, but this is the only correct choice. Mia's is an establishment. They are open til all hours of the night, they will have a line out the door of drunk college students at 2am, they know how to deal with drunk college students, and they have a bathroom they will let you use even if you don't buy anything--Mia's rules!! On top of being the place to go for drunk pizza, their pizza is actually really good. It's definitely NY thin crust pizza with just the right amount of sauce and cheese. During my lovely one day visit back to Geneseo, I stopped to have some Mia's pizza because it was like one of the only restaurants open on Sunday evening and this place was bustlin'! Mama Mia's is handsdown the best pizza place in Geneseo. The slices are big, cheesy, and perfectly cooked. They also have a quick and excellent delivery service. Their cheese and pepperoni slices are delicious and somewhat reasonably priced (The prices have increased over the years but that is at no fault of the restaurant). During the afternoon you can get specialty slices, while being more expensive, are very good. The Bianco Pizza (white pizza) is DELICIOUS. They also have excellent wings and subs. The chicken parm subs are amazing. The garlic knots leave more to be desired. A garlic knot should be a dense roll drowned in garlic herbs and butter. These rolls are very light and dry with a little bit of parm cheese and garlic powder on them. Between 1am and 3am from thursday-saturday nights, the restaurant is PACKED with wasted college students coming from bars and parties. However, it can be a fun/exciting experience. Sometimes there are fights, and one time, "Bohemian Rhapsody" came on the radio and EVERYONE in the entire restaurant (and it was packed) started singing/screaming along. It was a lot of fun. The pasta dishes are also excellent. Check out their Canolis too - they're very good! When i go back to Geneseo to visit, it wouldn't be complete without a trip to Mia's! read more

The pizza is the closest you can get to real downstate New York pizza in Geneseo, but that's pretty much the only thing keeping it from getting one star. I've been here a few times and noticed that service is usually pretty slow, but in my opinion, waiting for more than 20 minutes for one slice of cheese pizza at NOON is just ridiculous. It doesn't even take 20 minutes to make a pizza! Anyway, the pizza is way too oily but otherwise okay, it is thin and the crust is crunchy, not soft. Mia's has lots of different food such as subs, pizzas and desserts for anyone. I love their pizza the crust is a thin crust but the slices themselves are so big which makes it great. In town visiting relatives and came in for a late lunch based on the good reviews. Should have turned around and left when I saw that most of the tables were dirty and the counter girl did not acknowledge us when we came in, too busy doing chores. Placed order for a Calzone and was told over 30 minutes so changed to baked ziti and told it would be 15 minutes. As of right now it is 20 minutes and still do not have my salad much less the ziti or portabello wrap. Salad has showed up with an apology, fresh and nice though simple, I actually prefer it simple but do expect croutons at an Italian place... Food has arrive +- 30 minutes. Had asked if cheese came on the wrap and told no; you guessed, my vegan wife had cheese on her wrap. She was not going to wait so she just picked it off. Baked ziti was very good but could have been spicier while the wrap with spinach, artichokes tomatoes and more was a big hit with lots of flavor. Was in town for a couple days and my boyfriend found this place on yelp. We really lucked out, because the first night we had the Greek pizza which was really delicious. Dough: on point. Flatness: on point. Toppings and warmth: on point. The pizza was amazing, definitely one of the best pizza places I've been to, and as a huge fan of pizza, I've had my share. The second night my boyfriend decided to try their sandwiches, though I wanted their pizza. Their special at the time (some spicy chipotle chicken panini) was alright.
