Stopped here on a road trip headed down I-95, convenient location just off the highway. Food, atmosphere, and service were all excellent. Menu has a great variety but isn't overwhelming. Excellent wine list and selection of beers, and mixed drinks, as well as appetizers and deserts. We had cheese steak egg rolls with fries. The specials were what we ordered for dinner: Lobster Ravioli- great portion of lobster meat with a creamy sweet pink sauce; and the AHI tuna special with a really nice red sauce with diced green peppers, thinly sliced onions, and chopped olives, with a side of spaghetti and marinara sauce. It was more food than we could finish so we took away leftovers for lunch tomorrow. Was sad to pass on the desert menu- lots of great options to choose from. Our server, Fawn was very polite, super attentive, and very cheerful. We came on a Friday night after the dinner rush and had a very quiet and relaxing dinner. Highly recommend for a far better than average casual dining experience.

Back in the days. Like really back in the days, there used to be a place called Home Town Buffet…read more This was in the late 90s, in Southern California, City of Industry. And it served what us middle schoolers back then would have considered, decent food. I remembered giant beef ribs, sliced roast beef. I don't know if it was nostalgia...but you felt the buffet foods were really prepped, and you felt you had quality ingredients....but what would I know ..I was just a kid, watching Brink on the Disney Channel, going to skate parks...I don't know. Fast forward 30 years later, the last time I had Golden Corral was before COVID, at the City of Industry location--- in all honesty it was decent there were Alot of variety, but you knew you were paying low prices for quantity. Today I feel the food at these establishments are on par with Sysco food distribution. Everything tastes manufactured. Maybe I'm wrong, but in the trucking life, this is probably 10x better than McDonalds. Would you rather have 30 different fast foods with some steamed veges as your meal option...or would you have McDonalds. So I salute the staff and the kitchen for opening up in the most unlikely of all places...a truck stop. Because how on Earth do you stay profitable if every truck driver comes in and devours 5 plates of food. But I'm not complaining, beats eating microwavable frozen meals from Walmart. Happy post-thanksgiving. My server lady Clara was very sweet, ambiance was a little noisy with all the kids around. And right before I left I discovered they had grilled steak! Ok the steak was probably the best part of the buffet. But still 3 stars for overall food quality.

First, I checked out the menu that is posted on the wall, and tried to make the right decision. EVERYTHING is homemade. Ok, I decided on the Tuna Salad on a white homemade yeast roll. You can select one side, so I had cucumber, tomato and onion salad. I couldn't pass up on fresh lemonade and a slice of one of the most delicious coconut pie I've ever had. The lady that took my order was soooo sweet and of course knowledgeable of the menu. I didn't feel rushed, just relaxed. Soooo we had the most interesting conversation that concluded her parents knew my mother back in the day. I didn't expect tears of joy at lunch. It was lovely! I didn't get her name, but I'll never forget her until I return with friends and family to experience this "small town" treasure. Ok, the food. The roll was golden brown, soft and screamed HomeMade. It was filled with a white flaky and well seasoned tuna salad, topped with fresh crunchy shredded lettuce. YUM ! The cucumber, grape tomato and onion salad had a lite vinaigrette dressing. Fresh !! There is freshly made strawberry lemonade, lemonade, Iced tea and the Pepsi fountain drink products. Ok, the star of the show. That slice of coconut pie was Perfect. The crust was brown, very flaky and filled with a thick creamy coconut filling. This little cute old town restaurant is next to the railroad track and train station that's across from Randolph Macon College. It's popular to the students and residents of Ashland. If you would like A DELICIOUS Lunch in a warm and cute small town restaurant, come to Homemade's by Suzanne!!!! Thank you

The duck wontons were homemade and the "duck" pieces are smaller than a garden pea and quite sparse. The wontons are friend and smothered with cheese inside and more corn than the namesake "duck". Not worth the calories or cost. :-/ The BBQ sandwich was ok, but dry. Thankfully hot sauce helped wash it down. Then $4 for a glass of iced tea and a credit card use fee on top of that, soured the overall experience further. The menu is broad, but no explanations of ingredients makes it difficult to order and I regret giving something new a try. Tons of potential here at a friendly family restaurant where "everything is homemade".
