    shrimp-chicken-beef fajita for one ($19) - huge

Unassuming, attached to Red Roof Inn, but what a hidden gem of a restaurant! My sister visits on her long drives up the East coast, and I wish I had the opportunity to do so, too. Great portion sizes, fresh food, prompt and kind service.

This was a pretty solid Mexican restaurant! From the outside it doesn't look like much, but it was great! The interior has some fun decorations and music and lots of space. The staff were really friendly and our waiter anticipated our needs. None of us were drinking but the margaritas and other cocktails looked amazing! The chips and salsa were good. We got dinner combos, which were definitely enough food and it was nice to pick exactly what you wanted. The beans and rice were great. I think the best thing was the chile relleno- not over breaded, delicious cheese, just great. This is a great Mexican option in the area.

A nice Mexican restaurant inside of Best Western hotel next to Kings Dominion. You get complementary chips and salsa. I ordered Carni Asada which was great. Portion was more than expected and price isn't bad ($19.99). I will go back again if I'm in the area.

Pretty good spot and we would come again! Attached to a small motel which was a concern but once inside it was spacious, open and clean. It is right next to the Kings Dominion amusement park so if you're looking for something after leaving this should be your spot. We tried the taco salad, chicken enchiladas and chicken tacos. All average to above average Tex-Mex. Service was pleasant if not a bit slow. Enjoy!

10/10! Blown away by the service and the quality/size of the food! This spot is right next to Kings Dominian and perfect if you're on I-95 and looking for a place to stop. The portion size is crazily huge - we're talking HUGE. And, the food is incredibly fresh and well priced. Two dishes can definitely feed 3-4 people. The service is amazing as well. I was surprised by what a great restaurant it was considering that the location is a little out of nowhere (and from the outside, you wouldn't expect much). But definitely is a go-to spot for me.

Margarita and a Jalapeño Margarita- they both were flaming. Super cool!

Food and margaritas were delicious! We were a little worried when we followed our GPS to this restaurant. It takes you a route that makes you think you're heading into the park! Once you get to the parking lot, it's attached to a hotel. We thought, "oh boy" but we were super hungry. Don't let all that deter you! The food was amazing. The service was better than most high end restaurants. We will be back!

Huge portions! Loved the Herradura Fajitas and Mango Chili Margarita. Lots of options on kids menu too.

We stumbled upon this restaurant after going to Kings Dominion, as it's only a 1 minute drive from the park. We were happily surprised by the quality of the food! We shared the lunch special burrito with mixed steak and chicken and it was more than enough for the 2 of us (and for a reasonable $12!). They also kept it coming with the free chips and salsa! Will be back next time we head to Kings Dominion.

Cool kinda out of the way location - believe this might qualify as a 'hidden gem' ;) Not a fancy place, but had some great Mexican food! It's was about 2:30 but I was still able to order from the lunch menu, so I sampled the Taco/Burrito/Rice special - not bad at all! Everything tasted fresh & they also had great chips/salsa. Service was great as well. I believe this was a spot-on choice based on the experiences of previous Yelp trailblazers - I'd definitely return if I find myself driving down Hanover Courthouse Rd...heck I'd even jump off 95 at Exit 92 & drive the 5 miles over to to get there! What surprised me was how much seating inside and out. Much more spacious than I thought it would be. Generous portion sizes. I had enough left to bring home. The wait staff was friendly and welcoming. Our waiter was prompt in taking our order and checking back while we ate. Will definitely recommend this restaurant to others and will return to eat there again soon!

Plenty of parking around back, it may be tricky driving into the location but we met right at 5:30. My friend got there before me and got us on the waitlist. Luckily, it wasn't that crowded yet and were seated pretty quickly. We decided to start out on their house margarita...my stupid self went ahead and answered the server "the largest one you have!" They were NOT kidding - this cut was gigantic! I told my friend that we will be getting one to share between the both of us. I made it a personal goal to finish at least half of it before leaving... I decided on their chef's special, carne steak (it was all the meat lol: steak, chorizo, with rice and beans). OMG, it was amazing with so much left over! (Spoiler - it taste amazing cold too! haha). I don't remember the dessert that we got but it was seriously like a big pancake churro with a scoop of ice cream. The place is clean and our server was great! He was on top of everything, let us do our thing and checked us on at the right time. I'm already excited for the next girl's catch up date already.

We were seated promptly, given menus and didn't have to wait very long for our server to bring taco chips and salsa as well as a white dipping sauce. ( It was a little sweet for me but it mixed nicely with the salsa) He took our drink order and we looked at the menu. It's nice that most places have unsweetened tea, because I'm not a soda drinker....but sometimes I want something other than water. We saw a nice size platter at the next table that looked really good, so we asked our server about it. It was a Taquito platter with rice, lettuce, tomato, sour cream and guacamole. We were looking for a light meal so we decided to split the platter. It was very good, the Taquitos could have used a bit more filling, but everything was delicious. It had that colorful ambience that always gives a feeling of a fun party.

The place offers a full bar with seats and there are around 11 or so tables situated in the front of the space and a Mexican grocery & variety store towards the left side and back of the space. They also have happy hour food and drink deals weekdays 3pm to 6pm. The prices seem reasonable. I stopped by La Catrina around 5:40pm before the place started to get really busy. I took a seat at an open table and complementary chips, salsa & queso were brought out. I requested an ice water as I was deciding. I decided to go with 2 happy hour items including Flautas ($9.99 plus tax) and the Tacos de Asada ($6.99 plus tax). The place became really busy and the server brought over more hot fried chips as I waited for my food. Those chips were very crunchy (some broke apart) and good with the mild salsa and dense queso. My food arrived in 20 minutes, a good amount. The flautas had 3 rolled deep fried tortillas filled with shredded chicken topped with refried beans, lettuce, cheese, sour cream, tomatoes, & avocado slices. The tacos de asada were 3 soft pressed corn tortillas filled with chopped grilled steak, cilantro & onions, radish & lime on the side. Green and red sauces were provided too. After I finished all of the food, I got the check which was $19.02 with tax and before tip. Overall, the food was very good and I was very full. The service was a bit delayed since the place was very busy with dine-in and takeout orders. I needed to go next door to walk around before heading out.

The salsa was fresh tasting, & mild. I didn't have a drink but the margaritas looked great. The prices were very fair. The main minus was the chicken enchiladas verdes. While fully stuffed with flavorful shredded chicken, they critically lacked sauce. There was about 1/4 cup over three enchiladas with some cheese judiciously sprinkled over the sauce. Being an Austinite, I'm used to having enough sauce to dip the extra fresh tortillas in, which also aren't provided. The rice was fine, & they don't routinely serve beans. I'm used to enchiladas being served on a hot plate but not here. That noted, the food was hot. According to a board in the entrance, they have daily specials during the week and a happy hour, with discounts. Overall, I'll try again with fajitas and bring a friend to try another menu item and a drink since everything else was really top notch.
