Perfect location, great intersection. From the outside it looks like a data center. No windows at all, just a small sign reassuring you that yes, they are open. Inside is where things get confusing. The place does not know what it wants to be. The décor is a wild mix of Mexican, Americana, and random thrift store energy. There is a pig with glasses reading a book, Posada cutouts, tie dyed rainbow tablecloths, cowboy chairs, metal chairs, and vibes that do not agree with each other. The food is good, not great. This could be a go to spot, but it desperately needs an interior decorator or at least a single, unified idea. Family-owned and run! The service and food were perfect for me!!! I came around 6:30pm (they closed at 7pm) but they graciously sat me down. Here for work from California and was looking for some good, local Texas BBQ! I ordered the 2-meat plate ($20) with ribs and brisket and both were delicious!! This came with 2 sides and 2 slices of white bread. They serve the sauce on the side, which I prefer as I like to taste more of the meat than the sauce in my bbq. The receptionist at the local hotel in which I was staying (Holiday Inn Express) recommended the place despite not having personally eaten there before because she saw that it had good reviews and had been in business for quite some time. Ordered takeout from Country P's BBQ--everything was packed well and still hot when I got home. The brisket and ribs were tender and full of flavor. First off right when you walk in atmosphere was very refreshing. They attended us very kindly. They had a big variety the bathrooms and the building were very very clean. I ordered a regular slice beef sandwich and a drink 14 bucks and some change good price for an astonishing amount of meat on your sandwich. The sliced brisket hung out of a sandwich. That is a money well spent my other coworkers got a heaping load of chopped beef and the rib sandwich overflowing!!! Wow!! Best brisket potatoes my wife and I have had in quite some time. I was barely able to finish mine and my wife gave it her best shot but fell short, lol. Great food, friendly staff. I really hope they stick around. We tried the chopped beef sandwiches. That's always my way of trying out barbecue joints. The brisket is perfect!! It had a wonderful flavor and was so tender it fell apart as I stuck my fork to it. Skip the knife. The bar-b-que sauce was great, too. It's not watery and has a good strong spice flavor but not too spicy and hot. They could work on their sides some. The pinto beans had a heavy lard taste to them and weren't too pleasant. The greens beans tasted like they open the can and warmed them, they weren't bad but just weren't note worthy. The potato salad was 'bleh'. No roll or bread with your plate unless you order a sandwich.cole slaw was ok but a tad on the sweet side. We will eat there again, but next time it will just be a take out order of the meat by the pound and I'll make my own sides at home. For sure go try the brisket. It is spot on. read more

We loved Country P's! That family were so nice, and clearly take pride in their BBQ. The smoked brisket was tender, and the spiced rub that makes up their bark was delicious and had a nice texture. The pulled pork was melt-in-your-mouth good, and their homemade sauce was a great mixture of spices (we tasted cinnamon and nutmeg we think?). Placed an order for take-out 23 hours in advance to pick up order at 10:30 Saturday AM (posted opening time is 10:00 AM). Arrived at 10:20 AM, and the place was closed. I knocked and a young lady let me in, saying they were running a little late. I waited approximately 20 minutes for my order. My wife and I had driven from Fort Worth to visit relatives in Palestine and chose this place because it opens an hour earlier than the others and was conveniently located. I was required to pay cash (business policy for all customers), which was okay. The chicken was dry and overcooked. The brisket was dry. The pork ribs were dry and not tender. The sausage was plain and without flavor. And I had to pay $2.00 for a small amount of additional sauce. I left with the impression that the food I received was warmed leftovers from Friday. Next time I will take my business elsewhere. read more
