This review is not about the food, only service. I stopped to inquire if they would have dairy free options for a member of our party who has a restricted diet due to metabolic disorder. The gentleman directed me to the menus and either told me "no"or "I don't know" to the few questions he responded to. I've dealt with thousands of restaurants all over the US and some international and I am happy to say 99% of the time we've had great customer service even when the diet could not be accommodated. Unfortunately this was the 1%. This diner is so cute and the menu was expansive, would have loved to patronize them but my experience was an interaction with a dismissive and couldn't be bothered attitude. The waitress was great. I had the potato pancakes with a ham steak. The potato pancakes were like a sponge filled with grease oozing out.( no flavor. The Virginia ham steak was as thin as a piece of paper and dried up like the leather soul on my shoe. I should have sent it back. I'm sure I will pay for it later on the throne. Such a horrible experience ordered a chicken salad on a pita. When it came out there was a clump the size of a penny of black sludge in my food. When I kindly said to the server, what is this? He took it in the back came back and said that's the carbon from the grill and I said OK I guess the grill was dirty can you remake it? He said our grill is not dirty! Jersey has some of the best diners in the Tri-state area. Country Squire Restaurant is not one of them. It looks like a decent diner but the food is a different story. The matzo ball soup did not have any flavor. The matzo itself was just a ball of matzo meal and nothing else. The patty melt was a greaseball. Bread burnt. Burger dripping of grease and charred. For a local diner, this place is really the best. It's located in Warren Township, known to be an expensive town, yet the prices in the menu for most of the food is fair and you really get a large portion of food. Not only is the "diner" food cooked appropriately but it also tastes good, moist, flavorful, and not frozen or overly oily like other diners. They have simpler options for foods than other places. Like, for example, at an ihop, you'll get strawberry syrup and other modern alternative flavors for syrup, but here at Country Squire you'll get just the simple original maple syrup. Nothing fancy and most days, that should be enough for your appetite. My family loves coming here for the breakfast options. Their pancakes are huge and better than IHOP's. Not to mention they offer a large amount of Other entrees besides breakfast that are just as large or more in portion and delicious as well. Country Squire was open since 6AM, and they had coffee - and eggs...and coffee. I parked in the mini shopping center and upon walking in, opted to sit at the bar with some other local patrons. The waitress welcomed me with a smile, and there was the coffee in her hands. For $9.18, I got the farm fresh two eggs any style, so I got scrambled, with bacon and whole wheat buttered toast. Everything came out hot and nicely prepared. The meal overall wasn't the best breakfast I've ever had, but for stopping to try this last minute, it totally served its purpose. I ordered the crab cakes and horrible as it was nothing but fillers. Also got " homemade" mashed potatoes definitely not homemade once again pretty bad. This place is a family run mom and pop style diner with all the normal things a diner has to offer, plus they recently updated their menu and they added a nice variety of healthy choices. Buffalo Burgers, Garden Burger, Turkey Burgers, along with egg whites or egg beaters, and a wide variety of different types of salads. You can even get avocado on your sandwich or burger. You can also customize any dish you like. My friend ordered a double meat Taylor Ham, egg, and cheese on a kaiser roll. I love the fact you can top off your salad with many choices like candied pecans or walnuts, a scoop of tuna, shrimp or chicken salad, a burger, garlic shrimp, grilled gyro meat, you get the picture. They make at least 8 different omelettes my favorite being the Greek omelette. It has eggs, tomatoes, onions, and feta cheese. My omelette came with home-fries and I chose buttered rye toast . The coffee is always fresh , the service is good and the staff is always very friendly. I never have to wait too long to be seated , they do a really good job seating and cleaning all the tables for turnover. This place is very very busy on the weekends. Country Squire has traditional counter service. They even have an ice cream bar. I really enjoy their Greek rice pudding with cinnamon and whipped cream. The country Squire sells the "Squire Coffee Keg to Go." 96ozs of fresh brewed coffee you can take to the office or work. They do a really nice job catering parties and repass luncheons. There is a good size parking lot, and you can order anything on the menu to go. This place has been around for years and will continue to be a staple in Warren. read more

Mainly after covid but I think whatever Cooks they're using they may want to change if they want to keep their restaurant open. I got a hot open roast beef the gravy was awful even the broccoli which I love was inedible . When I called to tell the manager he said he would make it up to me next time . There's not going to be in next time I just want my money back I didn't even eat this Meal which is usually one of my favorites . My wife was in the mood for a breakfast sandwich and I ordered my standard: 2 eggs over easy with turkey sausage. At country squire, the turkey sausage is a patty. Well, I got was 2 eggs over easy with hockey pucks and my wife got a hockey puck, egg and cheese on a bagel. So, in fact I was wrong and this was the place that served the turkey sausage that I don't like. The turkey sausage is so, so dry that it has a similar texture to the freeze dried treats I feed to my dog, but not as dry. I'm sure I'll go back at some point. It's close and offers a change. I was here for lunch recently with a friend who moved from Edison to Warren and told me that this place is like the Edison Family Restaurant, a particular favorite of ours. He enjoys the place and comes here often. Since he was the first person to tell me about Harold's Deli many years ago, I take Marv's food opinions very seriously. I had a tuna wrap with a side of tuna macaroni and it was excellent. Place is much prettier than the Edison Family.
