Tons of food, and it was great...until, that dreaded blonde hair that was scrambled in my eggs. One of the employees walked over, picked up the hair and immediately apologized. I came to this place after Church I always drive by it over the weekend and usually see a line out the door so I went ahead and tried it. I arrived here around 11:20AM I asked how long it would be for two people they stated it would be a 30 minute wait. After we finally got called that our table was ready the person that sat us down took our drink order and brought them out right away. I usually go through the menu and see what calls my attention however I turned to yelp to see food pictures and didn't see any good choices. So I went ahead and picked "The Hangover" item off the breakfast menu. It comes with scrambled eggs, sausage, peppers, mushroom, cheese, onion, and cheese bread over hashbrown or country potatoes. I had it over hashbrown and asked for the gravy on the side instead of on top of everything. I would say this was very filling and definitely hangover food, I enjoyed the service once we got seated and place our order it was pretty quick. It is a little noisy however it's a great place for breakfast, and some coffee and not to pricey. I didn't feel that the flavor of the food was a five star review they could use a bit more seasonings or look into adding new flavors everything was more on the bland side for me. read more

Will not be visiting again. The booth we were sat at was filthy and trash was everywhere on the floor. A lady sitting at the booth across from us had a dog with her, sitting in her lap, very unsanitary for a food place. The food wasn't even that good. They definitely give plenty in their giant portions but the taste makes it a waste as I don't care to bring it home to eat later. The waffles were too thick and more like a cake than anything. Good food with good staff. I came here when I was visiting a friend. The food here was good. I came on two separate days one was for breakfast and one was for lunch. For breakfast, I had the All American Plate. It was good but I didn't like the waffles that I ordered. I thought they were to hard and dry. Everything else was good. The next time I came I ordered the Florentine Chicken Crepe. This was my favorite. The best part was the MASH POTATOS. Super good!! So I almost didn't eat here because of the reviews/ratings. Boy am I glad I took a chance on country waffles Merced. Not only was the waitress (cannot remember her name, sorry) very nice AND attentive the food came out very fast and it was very good ! Usually I write long paragraphs detailing every good, bad and ugly thing that happens in the restaurant but this won't be like that. Horrible costumer service I was trying to place an order on DoorDash and was having issues DoorDash told me to contact the restaurant. I did the manager Cory was super rude she replied saying well I can't do anything either and I can't take your money over the phone?! No one asked her to take my order or anything I was trying to let you know there's an issue on DoorDash! She didn't even let me talk! Never will I go here with this costumer service! The 1, 2, 3 of my dining experience: 1. Pricing: Prices are rasonable but some dishes are overpriced. Best to stick to the breakfast/lunch specials menu. 2. Taste: Overall it's ok. Had the chicken Florentine crepes with the hollandaise sauce over the top, a side salad, and replaced the side of fries with biscuits and gravy. Biscuits and gravy or not too bad however gravy needs more flavor best add salt. The crepes were made from traditional pancake batter and were unusually thick. They had a sweet flavor to them which should not be there. The chicken inside was really dry. could have been chopped up into smaller pieces. Each piece was at least 3 inches in size and there was about 5 total for the two crepes. The salad was the odds and ends from them using the lettuce on hamburgers I think. There wasn't enough green to call it a salad however the croutons and such were flavorful. They don't just use breadcrumbs. 3. Service/Ambience: Service was wonderful. It is nice when your coffee cup never goes cold. Very friendly people. Beyond the ounce was true to the name quote country kitchen. It is really charming plenty of senior citizen clientele which made the atmosphere feel like my grandma house. And that would be a compliment. To return or not to return: Yes. Very very disappointed! I called in 2 orders of the country fried steak with over medium eggs. Not only did the fried steak not have any gravy on it but the eggs were watery on BOTH plates! I called in to let them know , they asked for me to bring it in and they would give me new meals, not only did they leave the (now cold & runny ) old food in my plate!!! they slopped gravy on top of this mess. Country Waffles needs to thank someone for iHop closing, now they have no one to compete with when it comes to whose pancakes and waffles suck more. McDonalds does a better job with their hotcakes. For a place called Country Waffles, perhaps they should make better ones. The Farmers Scrabble though had to be the true mystery, ham egg and cheese all warm and melty only to be topped by raw celery, tomato and over loaded with green onion. Two random cooked slices of onion and pops of green bell pepper. This scramble is supposed to be atop country potatoes, instead large slices of boiled, barely seasoned, and even raw potato made the the foundation for this crumbling random "meal." We did order one dish, but attribute the lack of quality due to Covid and not the cooks. That is four failed dishes overall. I would give negative stars if I could. read more

Decided to eat breakfast here. I understand because of Covid and limited capacity, waiting times are going to be longer. However, when I've been standing there for over ten minutes with employees looking at me and looking away without any verbal acknowledgment, I'm not going to be impressed. A young lady actually walked up to the cash register with menus, looked at me and just walked away without saying anything. I ordered out and when I came to pick it up and brought it back to the car, I checked the order to see if everything was there & I realized they got my order all wrong except for my French toast and sourdough bread. Went back to tell them they got everything wrong and took them everything they gave me and they made my order again (had to wait 10-15 minutes). I'm quite pleased with this country Waffles in Merced. My parnter and I have only been for breakfast so this is a breakfast review. When I go out to breakfast I'm looking for a few simple things. A good bisciuts and gravy dish. Biscuits should be fresh and light. Gravy should be ample, and flavorful. Check and Check. Hasbrowns should be fresh and crispy, golden brown. check. I don't want to wait around to be seated. Check. Good coffee, promptly served is a must. Check. I don't need super friendly service, just accurate and efficient service. Check. Country waffles in Merced has consistantly provide all of the above plus a really perfect steak and eggs special for 5.99 that we are hooked on. This is our new go to place in merced until something better comes along. (I'm going to overlook the hideous decor for now. I would usually write about how much I like the food, which I do love the food here, but I am instead choosing to write about how much my great grandmother LOVES, and CRAVES the food here. So, my great grandmother was a waitress for 42 years, and grew up on a farm. Needless to say, she has some pretty rough restaurant and waitstaff standards. She LOVES Country Waffle. I mean seriously, when I go back home to visit she always talks about how much she HATES all the restaurants there. It's like Country Waffle is some weird vortex of making her less grumpy. Whenever she calls to ask how I am doing, and whenever I go back home to visit she asks me two questions: 1) "How is University?," 2) "Have you been to Country Waffle recently?". I always say yes, even it's a no. "Why?," you might ask; simply put she always hounds me about why I haven't been here again, and how I need to go back to eat those amazing waffles. She didn't even want to go there. She HATES waffles. When she ordered a waffle, my brain just rushed with "OH GOD. OH GOD. SHE WILL NEVER EVER STOP COMPLAINING ABOUT HOW I TOOK HER TO A "GOD AWFUL WAFFLE PLACE!" But, no. She LOVES it. She won't stop talking about how much she LOVES it. Ordered a take out order, country fried steak and eggs. Got the meal and it had no gravy on the country fried steak and my eggs were basically raw (I asked for over medium). I called and they said to bring it back and they'd give me a new plate. I got back to work and opened the box and all they literally did was cover the steak with gravy on top of the runny eggs. They did fry me up two new eggs, which they burnt by the way. Very disappointed. I ended up throwing everything away because I wasn't going to eat runny eggs that was covered in gravy. read more
