    Buttermilk crunch

Get here early!! This place sells out fast and to tell ya the truth, I can see why. It's a simple donut shop with the look and feel of stepping back in time. There is nothing fancy about the place but the sweet treats inside and where it's at! Our options were limited getting there around 9:30am, but I did try the donut holes - always a favorite, light and airy, and not too sweet. You're in luck because they do take debit/credit cards, I feared it would be cash only. This place sure does have it regulars and it was nice visiting on a Saturday morning seeing the place thriving!

I cam here super early because I heard this place run out of stuff pretty fast. The place is small and they only allow one person in at a time due to covid-19 which is nice. When it was my turn, I went in to look at the selections. The price was a little hard to read so I just let the owner do his thing. I ended up getting Buttermilk bar - small, subtle crunch, good flavor Apple fritter- looks flat but crispy and have apple chunks in there, one of my favorite Regular donut with coconut - standard Maple bar - light good Donut holes - super light and fluffy Lemon jelly donut - standard Ham and cheese pastry - pretty good, nice balance in flavor Overall, it was a decent donut place. However, the price is on the higher end. All of it was around $15 which means $2 / donut. not sure how that added up...The other critique was that the size of the donut was inconsistent. If you get unlucky, you can get a pretty small donut compare to another person and pay for the same price.

I have been coming here since I was a kid. This will forever be favorite donut place. I am so happy to be able to share it with my daughters. Mike is always so nice to us when we come to visit. The sugar donuts are my favorite, it's like biting into a sugar cloud.

I'm giving a donut shop 5 stars even though I only sample 4 varieties. And I mean it! I'm not a huge donut fan, but I do know my pastries. Because many/most hardcore donut shops close by 1pm including Countryside, I'm left with grocery store or Top Pot donuts. Pass on both. I've literally bitten into a Safeway donut in the past, spit it out, and threw the rest away. Putrid. Taste/Texture My hubby bit into the Bravarian Custard filled and was immediately gushing about how good it is - lots of filling, soft tender donut, great chocolate top. He normally doesn't like cake donuts (ref Top Pot, why do people like them??), but he really wanted a second so he ate that too. Again, immediately he said it's so good, super fresh, soft and delicious. I had the twist and that was pillowy goodness that melts in your mouth. I still have the chocolate old fashion to enjoy. Cost I thought it was very reasonable. A cake donut was $1.29 and the custard filled was $1.89. The total for 4 donuts were $6.08 after tax. I'm used to high end pastry prices at nearly $4 for a croissant. This is a great deal in comparison. The owner was very nice, mask on, gloves on. One door to enter, the other door to exit. One way customer traffic flow. Go early. They often sell out early and just close shop for the day.

The most perfect maple bar on the planter. For real.

Just wanted to update my review. I only didn't give Countryside 5 stars on my last visit because I'd hate to say this place is so amazing that you'd go out if your way to get here, only to find a hole in the wall donut shop with not as much stock or variety as a chain store may have. Also, coffee is basic, but IMHO, you don't need specialty coffee with donuts. But, gosh, the donuts at this place are just so yummy, and the owner is a good guy. He's been here since '84, I think he said. You don't last that long without at least a die hard following and some super well-liked donuts. He's part of old-school Kirkland, as my mind sees it. Even when we lived here for a decade, I never once cane in and saw anyone else working. We're here on a visit, the first in at least 5 years, from the east coast. Definitely made a point to come here, and I'm so glad I did. The maple bars are exactly as I remember them, or better... soft, fresh and delicious. I sent a pic of my daughter enjoying one and he responded that he thinks the donuts at Countryside are the reason he doesn't like most other donuts! So, if you're in the area and craving a donut, come!!! BTW, I love that a guy just came in and pre-paid for his $100 worth of donuts he ordered for a wedding party this weekend! Who is going to serve mediocre donuts to a wedding party? (That's rhetorical... because, clearly, no one!!)

The best!! Incredibly fresh donuts, and well priced. Two dozen for $22. Cash or check only. I will drive out of my way to come here to pick up donuts for trainings or meetings. Always a huge hit! I've been multiple times and haven't had the same "grouchy" service experience as others. However; the lady is up everyday at like 3am making these delicious donuts, for YOU! Could you blame her if she wasn't overly talkative?? ;) Can't say enough good things about this place

Love the maple bars! Much preferable to Top Pot. Countryside donuts are lighter and more yeasty. Yum!

Donut shop was alright. There is a Mediterranean chicken shop right next door I want to try next time. Nothing fancy. Basic donuts.

Dining in is an option, I've only experienced to go as it's most convenient for my family. Ordering is always easy, text messages about the order status allows for ideal arrival time. The customer service yielded by the DERU team is always excellent, even for larger orders they always make sure the orders are accurate and any additional condiments and flatware are included. Came on a weekend when it was really crowded. Really excited to try this place as I've heard good…read morethings about it and love that they use fresh farm ingredients. Had a total party size of two. We even added our names, but when we got led to our seats, we were put at the barstools. There were plenty of other parties of two that arrived after us that got tables plus there were some empty tables for two that we saw as well. So we requested a table instead of the bar area, but the server told us the manager didn't want us sitting there. Didn't make much sense when there were empty tables. Maybe they had some reasoning or structure for weekend crowds they they had to follow, not sure, but we had to stay seated at the bar area. We ordered a Margherita pizza to split as well as a slice of carrot cake as I've heard a lot of good things about these items. The pizza had really fresh ingredients and the sauce and tomatoes were tasty, however the dough was incredibly salty and made it difficult to eat. This was my first time at Deru Market, but I assume it isn't always this salty and could have been a one-time thing. The slice of carrot cake was pretty expensive (around $14) but it's huge and good to split amongst 2-3 people. I liked the generous serving of nuts and shredded carrot inside. Cream cheese frosting was still a bit too sweet for me (think I prefer Deep Sea Sugar and Salt's to this) and I had to remove most of it, but the cake was overall pretty good though a little on the dry side. I get why this place is popular, but I don't think I had the best first time experience here. With the high number of positive reviews though, maybe they were just having a bad day since it was a Saturday and pretty crowded, so I'm hoping to come back again in the future, during like a seasonal special if they have any.

They have uniquely sourced items that are from Poland, Ukraine, and neighboring countries, as well as familiar items like house made baklava. When I shop there, I mostly concentrate on their dry goods such as sauces in jars, sweets, and easy to cook foods like frozen perogies (dumplings). Amongst the sweets, the Polish Wawel Mieszanka Krakowska chocolate covered jelly candy is a welcome treat. I enjoy wafer treats, so the Roshen wafers from Ukranine is my choice. I haven't had much luck with their produce; I skip them. (FYI: The business uses the Yelp photos to post the latest produce that has arrived, which is perfectly legitimate. But because they don't delete the previous photos, the Yelp photos suggest they may have a bigger produce section than they actually have at a given time. I was confused the first time I stepped in.) The shop is located in a strip mall with plentiful parking. The space is older, which I honestly don't care as long as it is clean. I don't require much service since I only need to pay and go. For me, this store doesn't serve the deli or the produce function in its name. But I do enjoy exploring their different items and choosing something new-to-me to try. That is good enough.
