The standout feature of this establishment is its incredible dedication to gluten-free diners. Not only does the menu clearly mark all gluten-free items, but it extends this care to drinks as well--something I have rarely seen outside of beer selections. To start, I ordered the Burlington sunrise cocktail, and it was exceptionally good. The menu also explicitly notes that all gluten-free items are prepared separately, providing immense peace of mind. My dad and I shared the cheese curd pull-apart appetizer, which was delicious, complemented by ranch dressing that was quite fantastic. For my main course, I ordered the BLT on gluten-free bread accompanied by fries. Although it initially arrived with onion rings by mistake, the staff quickly remedied the error and brought out a fresh side of fries, made easy by their dedicated fryers. My dad ordered the sausage, and everyone at the table agreed that the food was fantastic. The service matched the quality of the food. When I mentioned my celiac diagnosis to our server, she responded immediately with an reassuring and confident "no problem." Everything I ordered was delicious. The haystack onions well seasoned, crispy, fresh, and not greasy. The chicken sandwich was great--the Korean mayo on the side was good but too salty for me. Worst service I have ever had! We are huge fans of Archives and their food, and have always been understanding for longer wait times for freshly made food. We are here for trivia and there's a good sized crowd (every table is filled), but only one server for the entire dining side. We've been here for 2.5 hours and have only been asked our drink order once when we initially sat down. We had to go up to the hostess stand and ask the server for another round after about an hour of being here. We were asked if we wanted an appetizer at intital greeing, but was never asked for a food order - we had to flag the server down for that as well. After not getting our food for 2 hours and seeing multiple tables who were sat after us recieve their food, we flagged the sever down and asked about our order. The server claims "it wasn't started yet" (we assume she never put in the order). She said there are still 3 orders ahead of us if we still want food, but we told her after 2.5 hours and trivia practically being over, to skip it. Our waitress seemed to walk around to talk to people at the bar for extended periods of time while having a full dining room waiting for service. You can tell that this is a local favorite. It was reasonably crowded for Saturday lunchtime, but service was still very sweet and attentive. Has the feel of an older bar, but it is family-friendly. We popped in for the first time yesterday. This place is great! Comfortable bar vibe with a killer kitchen! You can tell their staff enjoys working there. They are friendly and attentive. Stopped into Archives with the family on our way home from a sporting event in Burlington. The bar and restaurant had a bustling lunch crowd, but we were seated quickly and had our drink orders taken right away. They have a great whiskey selection and very nice beer selection, even by Wisconsin standards! I had the Italian beef which was delicious with a fabulous hot giardinare and hand cut fries. My daughter had the burger of the month and demolished it while my wife and son both had the patty melt with home made chips which they both enjoyed. Service was quick and competent and it was nice to see the bartender helping the lone waitress out with drink orders. We don't get to Burlington very often, but when we do, we'll definitely be stopping back in for another great meal and perhaps a whiskey flight!!! read more

Had the Friday night fish fry sitting at the bar, was outstanding. Best I had in a long time from Wisconsin. The fries where perfect, fresh cut, tarter sauce and cold slaw was outstanding. Ask the waitress to omit the bread, and no tomatoes on the salad, and spread out the timing of food delivery so I could enjoy my beer at the bar. Timing was outstanding. And order was perfect. Went there for a first time since the change of ownership. The walls were all modern looking with pages of books on the wall. We went for fish on Friday. We ordered the pull apart cheese curds which sounded good. However they didn't pull part and the batter was raw/under cooked on several of them. The rye bread was extremely stale and hard. The coleslaw had some season on it that made it just "weird" . My parents are in IL and I am in Milwaukee, this is a great 1/2 way point for us to meet for dinner. My sister has celiac so it's hard to find completely safe places to eat. We are from Chicago and came up to Lake Geneva for the weekend and we're looking for a spot to eat. My girlfriend has a highly sensitive gluten allergy and found this place on her app. While the food was phenomenal and very safe for a gluten free individual our whole experience was ruined by the service we received. The hostess/waitress was very rude and stale to begin with no hello or welcome, very straight to the point, and when my girlfriend asked her a question she made her feel stupid as a response. So much so that if it weren't for the fact this is the only place with good gf options, we would've just walked out.
