If I could give this place zero stars, I would. This is undoubtedly the worst apartment complex I've ever lived in. Where do I even begin?
Let's start with the pros because it's much shorter.
1. The maintenance and custodial crew who tried to keep the property clean were the nicest and best part of this complex. Jay and Ramon are the best maintenance team! They were always so prompt in their responses and fast to address our needs.
2. The old property manager Al-Leigh, and Terrell were really great and actually gave us the time of day.
And that's about it for the pros. Now to the cons
1. The apartment was not clean at all when we moved in. The cabinets were so sticky that when we wiped them down, the wipes were yellow at the end. There was mold that progressively got worse behind the toilet. There were streaks of colored markers on the blinds, and the carpet smelled really bad. We had to disinfect the entire apartment ourselves basically, and they had the audacity to charge us an extensive fee for general cleaning upon move out when we left it much more pristine than when we moved in! Ridiculous.
2. The reviewer below noted that the gates were always broken, and that is true. They were ALWAYS broken. Like what was the point of having a gate if it's always open?
3. It is not a peaceful neighborhood, especially if you're in the inner side of the complex. The tenants around the complex are inconsiderate, always screaming and destroying the property. It's funny because they have a preschool on their property and the high school across the street but you won't even be bothered by the noise from those facilities, you'll rip your hair out from the noise inside the property. Also, tenants around the complex throw the big rocks and break them, pull flowers, deface the walkway and the bigger safety issue---because the gym is not locked, children are running inside the gym when people are working out. What if they get hurt? Are you not going to do something about it until then? It is not safe. There's no way that the office hasn't heard any complaints about this because it's every day.
4. The property managers and staff in the office are inconsiderate of any delivery guys like Amazon or ups. They used to have a Luxor office where the delivery guys place the packages in--it was safe and reliable, but when Essex took over, they took that convenience away so they want the delivery guys to deliver directly at the door. But they don't have a place for these drivers to park so they always blocked our parking spot. They don't give them maps of the unit but expect them to deliver the items to their door so these poor guys are walking like lost sheeps all over the complex.
5. The office staff is the worst. There's been numerous times we've tried calling the office and every time we do, they don't answer! One time we called because the delivery guy was blocking our parking, and no one answered in the office but when we were driving away around their closing time, MULTIPLE people walked out of the office. Our experience with the office staff after Essex took over has been nothing but a headache. They're very hands off people. In addition, when we moved out, they didn't even remove our contact information for the apartment, so when the new tenants had a work order, the maintenance guys called us.
6. Maybe they need to change their exterminator vendor. There's colonies of ants everywhere, cockroaches at night, and when they called an exterminator to clean the light outside our door because it was full of bugs, dead and alive, they did a botched job.
I would not recommend living in this complex. read more
