Northgate Savoy is a beautiful apartment complex with friendly staff and neighbors. The complex is picturesque with an ample amount of trees that provide ample amount of shade. I moved in with my puppy, and the addition of a built in dog park is much appreciated. So far, I've felt welcomed to the community and am looking forward to living here. read more

If I could rate this place 0 stars, I would. Other reviews are not exaggerating, this complex is extremely poorly managed. Within just the first few weeks of moving in, there was maintenance being done that required access to our balcony. No one informed us ahead of time. I witnessed a random man climbing up onto my balcony. Thankfully, I was fully clothed. It turned out to be a company hired by management, but we were never notified. When I complained, I got a half-hearted apology and nothing more. Their own maintenance "manager" came into the apartment smelly heavily like cigarettes while I was pregnant. And you can catch him smoking frequently around the complex and nothing is done. The manager is incredibly rude and dismissive. If you bring up a complaint, she won't let you speak and talks over you. She lacks basic customer service, manners, and professionalism. We had serious issues with other tenants, backed up with video evidence, and she still sided with them because they'd lived there for 10+ years and had "no prior complaints." One of these tenants took our wet clothes out of the laundry machine mid-cycle to dry her own things, then argued we should have taken our still wet comforter out ourselves, even though it's a California king and needed two cycles to dry, and we are PAYING for those cycles. Meanwhile, she was using an entire laundry room plus half of the one we were in. She then followed my husband to another laundry room, kept arguing, and her family regularly harassed us and our dogs. They would make comments, and her husband and kids would intentionally provoke our dogs, who became reactive from the chaos in the complex--something we had to spend time and money to retrain out of them. Our rescue dog was fearful but friendly with other dogs. Our younger dog was extremely sweet before moving in. Both had bad experiences here that changed that. Other neighbors constantly picked fights over the laundry, even though they were the ones leaving their clothes sitting in machines for hours. your clothes could still be in the cycle and they would be standing over you trying to rush you. It made doing something as simple as laundry stressful and confrontational. Parking is a mess. Tenants are allowed to keep 3-4 cars inside the complex, leaving barely any spaces for others. Management does nothing to monitor or regulate it. The dog park is unusable. It's watered unnecessarily every morning, on top of the sprinklers that run at night, making it a muddy, disgusting mess. No one picks up after their dogs, and most of the dog owners are irresponsible. On top of that, unsupervised kids roam freely and terrorize the dogs. Our dogs were harassed multiple times, and it became too stressful to even use the space. Kids in general are left to run wild--no adult supervision, running into the parking lot, following residents around the complex even after being told to leave them alone, and bullying other kids. It's not necessarily dangerous, but it is extremely chaotic and stressful; it could easily become a dangerous situation for a child. You almost never see a parent come out to check on them. The laundry rooms are disgusting. I've watched maintenance "clean" for less than 5 minutes, leave their cart behind, and never return. Machines barely wash or dry clothes. You'll spend $50+ a week on laundry that may not even get cleaned. The machines often steal your money without starting, and kids go in there and throw trash and who-knows-what into the machines. We've had turf stuck to our blankets. And in broad daylight, over half our wardrobe was stolen--$1,500 to $2,000 worth of clothes. The complex did nothing. They won't even consider installing cameras. They claim there's "security" at night. That's a complete lie. We've never seen a guard. Cars were regularly broken into for weeks, and our own car was nearly stolen right outside the complex. Again--zero action from management. We paid a $2,200 deposit and only got $700 back--with no explanation. We reached out multiple times and never heard back. It's been almost two months. This place is a nightmare. Poor management, unsafe environment, and absolutely no accountability. Save yourself the stress and do not move here. read more

We lived at this apartment complex for a year and a half, and it was truly disappointing from start to finish. During our time there, we dealt with a mice infestation, roof leaks, and people openly smoking on the property, even though it's clearly marked as a non-smoking community. The front office staff is extremely unprofessional. The two girls at the front desk are often rude, dismissive, and not helpful at all. Anytime there was an issue, they were the only ones there--you never see the manager involved or assisting, even during serious concerns. In fact, we only ever saw the manager once the entire time we lived there. To top it off, we had a package delivered to our old apartment that was never returned to us. When I called to follow up, I was met with attitude and zero accountability. They didn't even bother to say goodbye before hanging up. Melanie claimed, "We have nothing to do with that," which clearly shows there is zero communication between the people working here. I appreciate the employee who had our package BUT the response I got was not deserved considering the package is for my child. The package containing baby formula. No one is ever on the same page. The lack of professionalism and respect was shocking. The only people who are actually willing/ happy to do their jobs is the maintenance crew & they never have attitudes or are disrespecting residents. This has easily been one of the worst rental experiences I've had. I would strongly recommend looking elsewhere if you value cleanliness, respectful management, and a smoke-free environment. read more

Had a maintenance issue a couple times living here and it was resolved in a pleasant manner each time. My most recent issue was an electrical issue and Daniel, the maintenance worker, responded quickly to my request and worked around my schedule to resolve the issue when I was available. In addition to fixing my issue, a loose wire, he also educated me on electrical safety and things to do to avoid outages in my unit. To any prospective tenants considering this property: be warned. The maintenance personnel, specifically one Jorge, seems to believe the 'non-smoking' policy is a mere suggestion. I've personally witnessed him flaunting lit cigarettes in front of residents' homes, even while interacting with children. When brought to the attention of the management, they not only dismissed the concerns and video evidence but also audaciously claimed that their staff is 'allowed smoke breaks' on a non-smoking property. Apparently, management prefers to discredit children rather than address their staff's blatant disregard for policy. Furthermore, the community within this complex is rife with toxicity, stemming from the management and trickling down to the tenants. Expect unwarranted intrusions into your personal space, constant surveillance of your activities, and attempts to micromanage your life. In conclusion, if you value your sanity and wish to avoid a hostile living environment, I implore you to seek residence elsewhere. UPDATE: office staff takes a minimum of 5 days to reply. They closed the office earlier then posted on 7/3 due to the upcoming holiday on 7/4. We sent an email to the property trying to arrange to submit cashiers check. On 7/5 the office was supposed to be open at 9:00AM. I sat outside the office for 25 min before a maintenance worker walked past and was able to take the check. Even then the office could not reply or call me back to confirm they received this check. I lived at this complex by myself, Jr 1b1b on the ground floor for a little over 2 years. Overall it was a good experience! Good location, next to 99 ranch and a short walk to Lucky's, large park nearby too. Safe neighborhood, kids running around a lot (which can be kind of loud sometimes). My car never got broken into so I think that's a plus in the bay. No guest parking, the spots are always taken...but there are ample spots at the park and in the ranch plaza. Maintenance was really responsive as well, when my bathroom flooded they were quick to come vacuum it up. The staff is nice too, especially Melanie! She would always say hi. Of course there were some annoyances here and there, like the organization of the parking repainting, and constant water shutoffs to fix the plumbing. But it's understandable that it's for property maintenance. Although the laundry rooms I think can use some more love as they often had at least 1 machine out of order. The unit itself was nice. It was one of the remodeled ones with vinyl flooring and new appliances. One thing I wish I noticed that there were no towel racks nor toilet paper holder in the bathroom so I had to buy my own. Move out was transparent. They were up front about the non negotiable cleaning fees. They charged $60 for the carpet and $70 for cleaning. The rest of my deposit was the conservice fees, it is what it is. Honestly thought I would get nothing back so $750/$1000 is pretty good to me. Northgate Savoy is a good place to stay on a budget imo, but if you have a little extra room it might be better to splurge a little and get yourself a newer apartment with more amenities, and community events. The previous complex I lived in and my current one have community events which I felt was missing while at Northgate. I would recommend this complex overall though. read more

I was disappointed to say the least. I had really high hopes, the apartment looked great and Caitlin was fantastic as a tour guide. However, I applied to an apartment that required me to pay a $55 application fee and $300 holding deposit. They immediately called me to tell me they listed the apartment at the wrong price. That's a pretty big mistake to be making for one. But the worst part of it was that I had my application canceled yet I was still charged the $55 application fee. I understand non refundable application fees on the basis of it getting approved or denied but my application was never processed to begin with so it's unfair I'm still getting charged for it and not getting a refund for it. On top of that, the $300 holding deposit is a check I have to wait 21 days to receive back. Very unfortunate to have this experience. read more

My partner and I have been a resident here for almost three years and we do not plan on renewing our lease here. The reviews on here (yelp) and google are pretty spot on so please beware. - First thing is that you'll never get in touch with someone at the front office. When we first toured the place as well, made an appointment, showed up and our leasing manager didn't show up until 30+ mins later. She called us and asked if we were still in the area to check out the rooms. Luckily we were, but I wanted to add that we waited in the rain for almost an hour to meet with the person who can give us a tour. - The buildings and units are very old, although they stated that they renovated at the beginning of covid. There are constant water issues where they have to get people to work on plumbing what feels like once a month. The sprinklers at night cause so much of a mess as well. - The walls are very thin. You can hear people upstairs + to the side of you with no issues. - Laundry and general public spaces (basketball courts, small dog park, mailrooms, etc) are not kept clean. We overall decided to not wash our clothes in the community laundry rooms anymore because of how low-kept they were. The laundry room specially next to us has 1-2 machines out of order all the time. Just not worth it to us to have to pay for a very low quality washer + dryer. - If you have children around here, be careful. They allow the residents to smoke anywhere and everywhere. We've complained many times of our neighbors smoking on their front + back patio causing our unit to smell horrible. Nothing has changed in these few years. I have asthma and the smoke literally chokes me up. There is no AC, only ceiling fans so when it's cool we can't even keep windows open due to the smell of cigarettes coming through to our unit. - The staff have 0 respect to those who work from home. I have constantly had to leave a note on my front door informing them NOT to bang on my door. They updated to have text updates/notices, but don't use it. Why? I'm not sure. Imagine being in work meetings and stepping away because someone is banging on your door nonstop for 5 mins just to tell you that they're shutting off the water for a few hours. This happens WAY too often and just doesn't seem normal. - We have reached out to the workers and leasing manager for multiple issues in the last few years and have NEVER received a call back or any response. Never had anyone pick up either, I have always had to leave a voice message. The staff and care less about the actual residents who have been there awhile. - The only plus to living here is the convenience of how close everything is. If you really needed something, everything is walking distance (park, groceries, medicine, hair cut, bakery, etc). That is the main reason I am leaving 1 star. We would not recommend this location to any of our friends or family. I held off posting a review for awhile but the cons outweigh the pros and we are just not happy/content to be here anymore. I was invited by my son to go with him to a tour on this property, I got there before him and his appointment was at 11am, little after 11am a office woman approached me and my daughter and asked if we had a appointment, after confirming my son did, she told us my son's was late (4 minutes) and mentioned she had another tour scheduled for 1:30 and in a very arrogant way she announced our tour was going to be a short one, my son arrived 2 minutes after and we went up the stairs as she was guiding us to the apartment she made sure to mention the income requirement's and made several remarks about other qualifications she assumed my son didn't have, once we got inside the unit she kept making remarks on how difficult was to get one of those apartments, I believe she assumed we were not worth her time because my son is young and showed up to the tour on his work clothes he is a mechanic so he didn't look good enough to be able to afford one of this apartment's. From minute one her energy and way of approaching us we knew this place is a NO for my son to start a family. If anyone from her higher up's reads this comment Kaitlyn is not a good member of their team to retain and value young people like my son, hard working earning good money, and excellent candidate to be living at this community. Very bad experience BECAUSE OF THE PROPERTY MANAGER! I GAVE MINUS STAR FOR RANKING! I felt discriminated! I wanted to complain to Fremont Housing DPT. because of the discriminations I felt. Then i decided not to. Because the company wOULD hire her a lawyer then it would have started a drama! I SAW a lot of complaints against the manager, but no change of attitude at all. I avoided her all the time! There are a lot of immigrants living in this compound. I spoke to a few. They had similar experience with her. I believe, what passports you have in hand matter the way you get treated. The manager needs to learn how to treat a customer. She has to understand that why and what she is paid for! Well, even a place with a great infrastructure is worthless where there is no attitude. The building is of course old! Sometime you see people swimming with their pajamas in the swimming pool. You sometime have to also share the pool with ducks! I am not sure how the hygienic that looks like. You get constant notices because of X repairs Y repairs. Balcony will be maintained, empty it, do not use it, otherwise we are not liable, bla bla bla, water shut off etc. I rent the apartments including the balcony! Who pays for the period that I cannot use! You get notices that they are allowed to enter your apartment. What if something is stolen! Come on, privacy matters! That means, disruption in your daily life! Who pays for that? If you use debit card for payments, they charge you more than 10 USD for transaction fees! Very bad payment systems, too! COMPLETELY UNPROFESSIONAL MANAGEMENT WITH NO RESPECT FOR YOUR TIME. If I could give zero stars I would. I contacted this property to schedule a tour and the appointment was confirmed. On the day of my appointment I show up on time and the door to the leasing office is locked. A worker was sitting in there ignoring our knocks on the door. We saw a maintenance worker who we flagged down and he went into the leasing office to talk to the person inside about our appointment. He comes back out apologizing saying that whoever had booked our appointment had been out sick with Covid for a week and so we wouldn't be able to tour. There was no communication of this information prior to us wasting our time to come to this property. Would not recommend this place. I always have an issue with people blocking my parking spot since day one. the workers hired for work here dont respect the parking spots and willblock you in. Noise ordinance means nothing around here, i live next to a staff member and there is always music blaring through the walls well into 3am. Same Neighbors are always having an argument which results in shouting and banging and slaming of doors. I have not even been here a full year yet but i can assure you i will not be staying another once my lease is up. New management is terrible. We have stayed here for almost/about 10 years. They changed management about a couple years ago. We had one of our cars towed without any notice, because it wasn't logged into "their new management system" & because it hadn't moved spots in a week. We logged all of our info / cars when we first moved in 5+ years ago. Didn't change cars, nothing; but I guess not all of our info transferred over when they changed management. After telling them, that the only reason it wasn't moved, was because whom the car it belonged to, was just diagnosed with cancer and stopped going to work, they had no empathy towards us. We were never informed that we had to re-log in our cars into our unit. We had issues with the Towing Company, who said we needed permission from management to release the car to us, and management told us we had to deal with it on our own. How is it our fault that when new management takes over, we need to "make sure" that all of our info & cars are still in the system? Management gaslit us and said it was never recorded, that it is our fault for not ensuring it was, and that they have no responsibility to help us get our car back. Also, We had a long period where our complex mailbox was busted and broken, yet the mail delivery workers would still put the mail inside. We frequently got important mail stolen. I've had fraudulent activity occur since the incident. Laundry rooms are the worst. Incredibly dirty. Almost always the machines do not work and smell horrible. read more

WARNING!!! Move in to this apartment complex at your own risk. Once your sign name on the dotted line, the people that run the office don't care about you or your needs, they are only concerned about numbers. It seems they try to avoid and resident in person interaction, I've called the office and it will go to voice mail, & I'll walk by the office and see them in side. These people are not your friends. Worse bit is nothing is consistent in this place; Laundry Room machines or card loader won't work, parking is horrendous, communication with the maintenance people is bad. I had my power go out in my whole unit do to poor electrical, call maintenance & the guy told me he'll come in the morning do to it not being a "Emergency" but it was only 6pm when I called, so I was literally in the dark. Also these units they should you are half assed put together, poor ventilation in the bathroom, shower heads not applied to the wall right, they got the same wall in the unit that in the bathroom with no sealant so the walls take on moisture. Best advance don't move in, you'll save yourself a whole alot of heart ache and stress read more

NGS doesn't even deserve one star but it is very minimum required, so here it is. 3 main problems of NGS are 1) frequent theft issue. I've even heard someone unlock front door of my unit at night. As I yelled, the person ran. There is a gate, but anyone can enter by waiting until someone drives through. I had strangers all the time knocking on my door trying to solicit 2) office monsters. Two women (D***a and M***y, not sure they are still there?) are there just for paycheck. They smile until you sign your lease but couldn't care less when there is report of safety issue or theft. D screamed at me once in condescending manner for calling her, not calling 911 for theft issue. 3) very noisy and dirty. It is way over 50 year-old building and you will hear peoples' footsteps above you. No management looks after laundry room. It is dirty and machines are constantly broken. They never updated windows, so from windows to doors, walls and elevators-you name it!. Everything is very old. There was even a gas leak once but no one had fixed it so I had to call pge right away. Though I numbered, one is not better than the other, meaning they are just as equally bad & serious. I numbered just to make it easy for you to read. Stay away from this place. Above all else, your life matters the most but you won't find safety and peace at NGS. I couldn't wait to get out. read more

I moved in 8/27. It is 10/26 now and I have a rat/mice infestation. I pay $2,241/mo to live here. It's completely unacceptable. EDIT 11/4: As of 10/30 my supposedly brand new dishwasher has stopped working. Save yourself the trouble. Spend a little bit more and live somewhere nice. read more

I toured the Northgate Savoy community a few times with my wife and we had it on our shortlist. We had really good interactions with Melanie every time we toured the community and during conversations over the phone. She patiently answered all our inquiries and clearly explained how the leasing process worked. We have lived in multiple communities in the Bay Area and we found it quite refreshing to interact with Melanie and her colleagues at Northgate. Application Process: this was a bit frustrating just because of the needed extra income verification. They just underwent management change which is why they needed the extra verification. The application process length was about 1.5 weeks so not bad at all. What takes the most is screening. Management team was really responsive in giving me updates and were very patient. Carly was amazing and made me feel comfortable the entire process. They were very upfront with me the entire time and even upon lease signing, they made everything extremely clear. Move In: theres elevators which was very nice. It helped a lot with the moving process. Management was very clear with the rules of the complex. They were very honest and up front as to how to best maintain the unit and they even told us of what to expect move out to be like (how to make sure to get the most of you security deposit back). It definitely made me much more comfortable when signing the lease. The unit itself had been cleaned and repainted and there was some minor scratches and things on baseboards, we simply made sure to note it down! Living Here: so far its been great. Laundry rooms are always kept clean and everyone respects one another's belongings. There are different walking trails within the enclosed apartments which is great for anyone who likes going on late night walks! Theres also a HUGE park directly across from the apartments and theres a 99Ranch Market right next to us as well. PET FRIENDLY!!! They do have some breed restrictions but not many! A lot of residents have either dogs or cats. Mornings and Nights are really quiet! We've never had loud mornings or rude wake ups. For parking there is no guest parking! You have an assigned space and there are also open spaces that are first come first serve. Overall the greenery is always maintained and looks nice. Management has been responsive and helpful the entire time ! We also have an Amazon Hub! Meaning packages get delivered to the hub and you can pick them up!! There are a lot of families here so you can occasionally hear kids playing outside but its not noisy at all!! Another thing to note is if you have door dash or delivery in general, its always good to be extra specific in telling them what street to park on and where your unit is located. read more

From day one, the general manager has consistently been rude and condescending, and her warm and understanding assistants are usually left to clean up the pieces of her poor customer relations (and social) skills. Laundry facilities are awful, and despite our constant requests for repairs to one of the washing machines and two of the dryers. They are very concerned with the first impression to new renters. I was not going to do a review but I just feel like the building manager really needs to be replaced. Ever since we applied she was extremely rude to us!!! We weren't told that the application needed to be completed before we got there. So we had to finish it up. And they told us to go outside and finish the application. And that wasn't a big deal I was like okay thats fine. We walked outside and we sat on the bench thats on the front of the office. We were trying to finish it up but we were not getting any service. After a few minutes the manager i dont know her name but shes(asian) anyways she came out and she was speaking to me and my boyfriend in a very degrading, rude and superior manner telling us if we cant finish we have to come another tomorrow. We told her that we weren't getting service. And she was like well "Verizon" is the only company that works here. Making it seem lije we cant afford verizon. And my boyfriend was like well I have Verizon. And now every time he passes by her she looks at him a very muggy look. Shes plain rude. And acts like she owns the building! I really dont appreciate her approach or her attitude. Being the building manager she should know how to talk to people. read more

Great community to live in!!! I moved in about a year and a half ago and haven't had any issues with management or residents . Very quiet and clean. Maintenance staff is super friendly and timely. When I first moved it it was during the rise old Covid . I was late getting my move in deposit but they were Patient and willing to work with me and my housing voucher. Every time time I've had an issue or complaint against me for noise or what not they were very respectful and called me and asked me my side instead of instantly writing me up. Melanie and Carlie are the best and they have always been super nice and courteous and professional. Ana is a great property manager and has also worked with me on my noise complaint and has been very patient with me. I have to commend them for being so nice and willing to work with people. I'm disabled and they are usually quick to fix anything that messes up or breaks in my apartment. Pool and spa year round is nice. New basketball court and dog park . Clean laundry rooms even tho I do laundry at my moms house lol . I know moving can be pretty frustrating at times because I was a bit anxious and rude when I first moved in because I was late on getting my funds for move in but Ana and Carlie didn't turn me away they worked with me and were patient especially during Covid they have been amazing and in top of their game. I can't wait to renew my lease . Oh I forgot to mention new appliances and gas stoves which are hard to find in apartments these days . I plan on being here until I get married and have a family .
