I ordered a veggie Lorraine, a salted Carmel coffee, and two cupcakes. The service was great! The girl assisting me was darling and describes the drinks so well I wanted them all!! My coffee was amazing! The perfect amount of everything! Great recommendation!!! My breakfast sandwich was alright. It didn't have enough seasoning so it tasted a bit bland. The roasted red peppers were the highlight. I brought the cupcakes home for my son and husband. My son picked the red velvet and he was pretty happy w it. Enjoyed breakfast here today with a friend. I had a skillet and friend had veggie omelette. Food came out very hot and cooked perfectly. Generous portions. The biscuit was enormous--enough for 2 people. The fruit was very fresh and a a nice variety. The free donut holes were a nice touch. The ambiance is acceptable. I can imagine that in the cold weather it could be a little drafty due to the fact the door opens directly into the dining space. My only complaint would be that an iced tea is $4.50 for a cup ¾ filled with ice and about 8 oz of tea. When I asked for a refill, they refused. I found it ironic that there are 2 coffee urns where you could refill your mug, yet iced tea is not treated the same way. This issue won't prevent me from returning, but I would hope they would change this one thing. I will just no longer purchase a drink when I return. read more

I ordered a pesto chicken sandwich and the kiddie combo for my son which consisted of a fluffy pancake, turkey/chicken sausage Pattie, a scrambled egg , fruit cup and juice box. My sandwich came with a side of potatoes and it was absolutely delicious. Everything in our order was so fresh and so perfectly seasoned. I've been wanting to try this place because of the Yelp deal of spending $5 for $10 worth of baked goods. Also, I've been wanting to make the cupcake sandwich for awhile now (that's where you cut the bottom cake part in half and place it on top of the frosting making it a little dessert sandwich.) I grabbed a French silk and a carrot cake cupcake along with a maple bacon donut for a little under $10. I keep hearing about this maple bacon craze and now it seems like every bakery has to have this sweet and savory combo. I liked it, but didn't love it. The French silk had chocolate mousse in the middle which was interesting but I felt like it tasted like a Hostess ding dong. What I did like was the carrot cake cupcake. Although sweeter than the French silk the carrot cake had an addicting cream cheese frosting. And somehow both cupcakes does taste better when you do make the cupcake sandwich! read more

This is a local small bakery with a small array of yummy goodness. You may not be overwhelmed with choices, but I'd say a dozen or so treats to choose from is plenty when it's quality stuff! I had the Pistachio Croissant & my friend had the Dark Chocolate Cupcake - both were delish! I love their gallery wall with photos of each individual cupcake flavor they've ever created. Too cute! They have tables in chairs inside and also a few small tables right outside. Our only disappointment was the hot teas we both ordered. The temperature of the hot water for the tea was essentially lukewarm water, not exactly hot enough to really steep tea properly. So we both drank about half our cups of warm water with barely a hint of the flavor it should have and tossed the rest. I ordered a pumpkin pie (carry out) and a French silk pie (also carry out) for Thanksgiving and Christmas respectively. Both were delicious! Picking up was so easy and fairly quick, even when there was a bit of a line inside. Staff wears mask and the inside is super clean with all tables pushed to one side, but the cupcake counter and coffee bar is still open. I did get a peanut butter chocolate cupcake and a latte for the road -- both delish! Will go back, for sure. Ordering online for the holiday pick up was a bit confusing, but I got it eventually -- you have to pick catering and your location (Elmhurst or Oak Park), and then your item(s). For Thanksgiving there were issues choosing a time -- it said all slots were full but when I called they said it was a bug on the site, just use the note section to choose a pick up time -- but by Christmastime that looked to be addressed. read more

Yelp is being persnickety today) I have had in recent memory, anywhere, with the friendliest, most welcoming, and (with the exception of one unfortunate, hopefully soon fixable detail, explained further below) most "accessible" business of its sort I've visited in the Chicago and Elmhurst areas. (The WiFi password was "survivor," which to me usefully summarized the mood, purpose, and respectfulness of the space.) But, looking at health department review ( didn't realize that was part of YELP!), doesn't appear she has pursued any business acumen. Sanitation, quality control, rolling list to maintain cleanliness and pest control. Hire right. Train right. Upholding sanitation, quality of product, and business standards is a job that continues for owners as owner is ultimately responsible. More times than not, you get what you pay for as employees go. My daughter and I dropped in on a whim Sunday morning. An older couple was taking forever to decide what to order at the counter, then left a 4% tip as the line of people suddenly got quite long. This had the makings of a real mess, so I set my expectations low as we ordered. In the event, the staff handled the rush perfectly. I recently moved back to Elmhurst, and when looking for a place to get a good cup of coffee and breakfast, I stumbled across this little gem right in the heart of the downtown Elmhurst. The ambiance has quaint "mom and pop" feel to it. The food very good. Homemade turkey sausage, the quiche is outstanding(the crust!), and even their take on a pepper and egg (chihuahua cheese and poblano peppers!) is amazing. Coffee is good quality, and overall it is a very pleasant experience that keeps me coming back. The reason I didn't give it 5 stars: 1) Herbed potatoes. Cut in huge chunks to where they often are not cooked all the way through, and often the seasoning lacks...I usually opt for fruit because of this. 2) A little out of their control, but on the weekends, this appears to be a popular spot for people to bring their young children. Because of this, the place gets REALLY loud and is often times hard to have a conversation. 3) The cupcakes, while good, are a bit on the small side when charging $3-$4 a pop. The company I work for placed an order yesterday for a retirement party today for breakfast for 50 people. Courageous bakery did not let us down! They delivered on time, brought everything necessary and set up the food for us. They brought: scones banana & cinnamon bread Fresh fruit Potatoes Bacon Sausage Scrambled eggs French toast Syrup Plates Napkin wrapped plastic ware The food was great. Everybody was happy. This place absolutely ruined Mother's Day, and they do NOT deserve your patronage. My wife heard about these cinnamon rolls from this bakery in Elmhurst and she wanted to try them out as a Mother's Day treat. It's all she really asked for. Due to COVID-19, we decided to order online. I ordered the rolls at 8:00 AM, with a pickup time of 9:15 AM. I live about a half hour away in Wheaton, and my wife wanted to do an online yoga class, so I took the kids with me. I ducked in and out of the store a few times (which was quite crowded for the COVID-19 era), until finally asking where my order was at 9:30. The person just told me the kitchen was backed up and that 10:30 AM (!!!) would be a more reasonable time estimate. I waited with the kids for a little while, but they're 5 and 2, and the situation became untenable. I drove home. My wife said she'd watch the kids if I wanted to drive back, so I made the trek all the way back to Elmhurst from Wheaton, as I could tell she really wanted these rolls. I got back to the bakery at 11:00 AM, a half hour after that already significantly-delayed estimate I was given. I asked where my order was and the person said IT WOULD BE AT LEAST ANOTHER HOUR. For cinnamon rolls. That I ordered for pickup at 9:15. That were ordered at 8:00 AM. And could somehow not be ready before noon. She told me I could have a refund if I cancelled the order online. I said I would go that route. The trouble is, there is no place on their website or in their order confirmation e-mail to do this. Due to COVID, I did not want to stay and argue and ask questions about this, so I simply drove home. I gotta be real. When the nice girl behind the counter rang up my two cupcakes at a rate upwards of $7.50, I damn near shat my pants. Just kidding. I was wearing a skirt... 'cause I'm a lady... who sometimes sh*ts her pants. Just kidding. It was just that one time and I already gave an abridged outline in another review so I'll spare you all here. By the time I'd arrived it was already close close to 4:30 so the cupcakes selection was pretty slim pickins. There were maybe 6 options left, and decent number of them were cupcake flavors that I'm morally opposed to (lemon flavors and anything involving buttercream), but they did have a few white chocolate raspberry and mint chocolate chip. I realized after I'd already left that even though I felt like the cupcakes were a tad pricey at first, they were actually pretty big cupcakes and Courageous had given me plenty of options to cut the cost of my cuppies, I just realized it too late. A few tips for others: 1. They currently have a really great Yelp deal that you can purchase on the Yelp mobile app. It's $5 for $10 worth of treats here. Half-price. That's a damn good deal and one I'll be taking advantage of next time. 2. Check the menu board outside. When I went in it was the week of the Blackhawks victory (which turns out, is not called the world series - thanks for clearing that confusion up, Rosanna L) and the sign mentioned that if you were wearing any kind of Blackhawks gear you got a discount on cupcakes. I, of course, know not of sports proceedings, but maybe one day they'll have a special that's more my style. Like maybe a discount if you're wearing a cat shirt or way too much black eyeliner. In those cases, I'll be golden. 3. You can get a punch card where you get a punch for every $3 you spend. Once you have 12 punches, you get $3 free. So basically, every 10 cupcakes you get a free one. Not a bad deal. I can totally woof down 10 cupcakes. So anyway, my two cupcakes. **The white chocolate raspbery was good, though I wasn't a fan of the frosting, but I have to confess that I waited a day with it in the fridge before I ate it, so that likely impacted it's flavor. The cupcake itself was still moist. **The mint chocolate chip cupcake was... mmm...worthy of mmmultiples. Everything about it. Gold. And the frosting was unlike any I'd ever had before. It felt like I was eating a whipped, light version of mint chocolate chip ice cream, which everyone knows is woman's kryptonite. (bake sale to help support sister Also good to know that 10% of proceeds are donated to Leukemia & Lymphoma Society and the Ride Janie Ride Foundation 2013 is when I first started hearing about them. My cousin decided to do cupcakes for her wedding. After devouring these and taking about 6 home I was a fan. Only caught the truck once and that was in the YorkTown mall lol but have been to the Elmhurst location about 6x times. (It's actually how I started eating Lou Malnati as it's right next door) Favorite is the pink Velvet! but usually will mix up and get other things as they are just as good. This is an awesome find. Small bakery/cafe in Elmhurst. They have a simple menu, mostly Breakfast. The Pastries are amazing. Donuts are not just fluff, but really substantive. The Cupcakes and the Muffins are also amazing. I had a Maple Bacon donut today, and loved it. That was after the Chilaquiles Verde. Homemade Chips, awesome Chili Verde sauce, topped with tender, juicy chicken, onion and queso fresco covered by two eggs. AMAZING! The flavors meld together and burst in your mouth. I have also had the Lunch Burrito, stuffed with beans, rice, chicken and avocado. Truly amazing flavors. And then there is the Biscuits and Gravy, which I covered with two easy over eggs. I tried their pink velvet cupcake last summer, but ate it way too late and couldn't write an accurate review. I purchased a vanilla bean cupcake off the truck one sweltering hot Tuesday afternoon and was disappointed by the dry cake and grainy frosting. So, I decided to purchase cupcakes from the actual bakery to get a more accurate representation of their cupcakes. And boy oh boy, I was not disappointed. These cupcakes are beyond legit. I purchased a Yelp deal which was $5 for $10 worth of goodies. I took a peak at the flavors on their websites and knew I wanted to try the lemon raspberry and the chocolate bacon beer. I stopped by around 3:30 on Saturday afternoon and there was still a very good selection of cupcakes including the two I wanted to try. I also purchased an apple slice, which basically is a square piece of apple pie to make sure I hit $10. After dinner, I sampled half of each cupcake. The lemon raspberry cupcake blew me away. The cake was moist and I loved how it was filled with a raspberry pastry cream. It had just the right amount of filling. The cupcake was topped with a whipped cream cheese, which was light and paired perfectly with the lemon cake and raspberry pastry cream. It was topped with dehydrated raspberries, which added a nice decoration and a little crunch. The chocolate bacon beer was definitely one of the most unique cupcakes that I've tried. I was worried that it would taste too much like beer and I'm not a big stout fan. However, it didn't taste too much like beer at all. I did get subtle hints of it though. The topping was a Swiss meringue and stout glazed roasted bacon. The meringue was awesome and wasn't too sweet. I loved the bacon and felt like it could have used a few more pieces. The packaging is great since you know the cupcake will be secure. My packaging also served as storage for my cupcake for the following day. Both cupcakes still tasted delicious the evening after, which was another huge plus. They also have a punch card where you get a punch for every $3 you spend. You get $3 off your purchase once you collect all 12 punches. The punch card is valid both for the bakery and on the truck.
