I came in for the first time. The location is across the street from Ohio University. I ordered the peach mango green tea iced for this warm day outside. The atmosphere was very clean and workers were helpful and friendly. Their summer favorites had plenty of options. This would be a great place to study at or just come lounge at. Upon walking into the public restrooms at Court Street Coffee on Court Street in Athens, Ohio, you are greeted by a very welcoming sign reading "it's all about the journey" which reminded me of the journey I just went on: walking into the shop, ordering some brown, then my body making its own natural brown. I thought this was the perfect touch that every customer can relate to. As soon as I sat my cheeks down on the beautifully crafted porcelain chair, it was almost as if it had been pre-warmed by an old friend. I felt at home. The smell of coffee and shit was balanced, the lighting was beautifully focused on the Koala Care changing table, the eyes of the Koalas watched tenderly while I went about my business. The steady drip of the faucet inspired something else to come out of me (yellow) which was a nice surprise since my main goal for entering this place was to make brown. This is Average coffee at best. I purchased a Cortado and it had way too much non frothed milk in it. It had a very weak flavor. It was basically like a coffee with too much milk not expresso with whipped milk. The breakfast sandwiches are not home made. I am assuming frozen and microwaved. The display counter is broken for pastry display. There appears to be a pizza store within this complex that was not open. This place needs a cleaning. The display shelves are covered in dust and the floors were slippery from grease. The staff was friendly and welcoming. read more

The smoothies are great but the coffee is a miss. I was in Copeland daily and only went for smoothies because they were very good.

I have yet to have a good experience here. I haven't disliked the coffee but what I can't get be hind is how pricey it can be compared to other local places given how often I've had a messed up order. Although I have nothing bad to say about the atmosphere. read more

I had high hopes for court street coffee since they use crimson cup which is one of my favorite places to get coffee from. They have an extensive menu, something for everyone to try, with a lot of seasonal coffees as well! I also really enjoyed that they remodeled since it used to be such a small coffee shop, now there is room for tables for students to sit and do homework. My issues with court street coffee is that when you order an iced latte they use what they call "espresso cold brew" Im not sure if this a trend that is catching on since this is not the first time I've encountered this. As a precious barista and a coffee lover it's important to note that there is no difference between a normal coffee bean and beans used for espresso. Espresso is simply the process in how the coffee is being prepared. The "cold brew" that they have created sits in the fridge and they are making iced lattes with this instead of fresh shots. This is problematic because you are paying much higher prices for a latte, not a cold brew. Espresso has a much different flavor than cold brew. If that cold brew is previously pulled shots, they have burned and it creates a bitter taste. It overall is very lazy. When I asked if they could remake my drink with fresh shots, the barista seemed confused and tried to explain it to me. Again as a former barista I know that espresso cold brew does not exist. They did not remake my drink and I just left. I think that the process is lazy and they are overcharging for drinks, as a latte is always more expensive than a cold brew and you are paying for something you are not getting. I'm really hoping that coffee shops do not adapt this poor and lazy way of making coffee, at the end of the day if Starbucks can pull fresh shots for each drink, so should they. read more

My favorite spot for coffee at OU. Court Street Coffee has a totally different feel than the other coffee shops around Athens and there's truly something for everyone here. The Court Street Mocha alone has turned several of my friends into regular coffee drinkers. Super easy to order and everyone who works there has been nothing but professional and welcoming. The only time in the last four years I've had a long wait time for my drink one of the baristas gave me a coupon for a free regular coffee to make up for it. Every time besides that they've been extremely prompt. I've never had a cup of coffee from Court Street Coffee I didn't like. Best coffee shop in Athens. read more

The previous reviewer said it best about being the least pretentious. Once, I went to Court Street Coffee with a friend to get my coffee and vegan muffin (soo good!! I miss them still!), only for him to then inform me that he wanted to go to Donkey Coffee to get his coffee (I suspect for the 'coolness' factor-since, come on, hot chocolate is pretty much the same everywhere), so off we went (after I got my order from Court Street--with efficient/friendly service). This was my only time going to Donkey Coffee and the service, in comparison, was beyond ridiculously slow, and the general atmosphere was so oppressively pretentious--some of which was genuine, but much was pretend and a bit 'trying too hard'. There aren't a ton of tables/seating at Court Street, but people seem to be pretty good about not hogging tables, to turn into impromptu home offices, while nursing a single cup of coffee (I'm looking at you, Starbucks..), so you can usually get a table. It's pretty quiet also, so you can chat with friends comfortably. I've since moved from Athens, but Court Street remains my favorite coffee shop, as I've yet to find a comparable replacement. read more

This coffee shop is great! My husband goes to OU and told me we had to go there when I visited. We ended up going twice in one weekend! The first time I got a hot Court Street Mocha which I would definitely recommend. It's a great coffee drink! Additionally I got a turtle scone, which was good. I'm typically not a huge fan of scones, but I thought I would try it out. I'd like to try some of their other baked goods next time. The second time we went, I got a frozen samoa coffee drink. Also very tasty, especially if you like coconut! This place gives Starbucks a good run for their money with quality and taste; very great!!! I feel like parking would be a hassle, but we walked there so I'm unsure. I would love to get a coffee here, sit outside and read someday! read more

I ordered an iced vanilla latte that tasted like pure milk. I know lattes do contain a lot of milk, but worst case scenario, coffee flavoured milk. When I politely told the girl that it tasted like it had no coffee (or vanilla for that matter) in it, she offered to make me another. Then the manager (Natalie?) said that's how it's supposed to taste and that I could purchase an extra shot of espresso or perhaps a different drink. This place is great! Their prices for drip coffee are super reasonable (especially for a refill). Grab a scone while you're there. As a bonus they serve prewrapped sandwiches and wraps from a health food store just on the other side of town (Pharmacy) which are great! Grab one of those too. They put special winter break schedules on all of their doors saying that they close at 6 today, then the girl inside closed up and refused to serve anyone else, I tried to order at 5:28 and she flatly refused even though all the schedule said they were open for another half hour. It looks like she just wanted to leave and not bother keeping the place open when they were supposed to be, if this place hires people like that then stay away! read more

The staff are always there to greet you with a smile, and there signature court street mocha leaves nothing to be desired!
