It's all soft serve..vanilla & Chocolate and then an extra flavor tonight was Funky Monkey a banana peanut butter pairing..but none of us was feeling that funky!! Joshua Hunt and I shared a regular Vanilla in a cup in honor of Nana * her favorite!! Kayla Beth Fields had. CHOCOLATE ! When we stopped in on 8/15/26 the Athens Whits was more than its usual unclean, it was absolutely filthy. The floors and tables looked like they hadn't been cleaned in weeks. I have always thought that a few inexpensive little upgrades to the dining furniture, floors, and walls would help brighten the space up and encourage people to sit and enjoy their custard. We always leave this Whits and go outside because of this "yuk" factor. I'm left wondering if the custard is safe to consume. read more

We drove to Athens to check out the college town after hiking in Hocking Hills. We were hot and needed a treat. The affogato of vanilla custard with espresso was perfect and hit the spot! Best frozen treat spot in athens. Haven't tried the coffee but the custard is great. Usually a line but the service is always quick and friendly. Menu is straightforward but if you have questions they're always happy to answer. My favorite is guessing the flavor of the week with the clues they give you on the chalk board. Same price as other ice cream chains, but the quality of the custard is wayyyyy better than its competitors. Favorites are the apple and bobcat madness. Don't get me wrong, the custard is very yummy, but there are only 3 flavors at any given time, one of them being a random flavor of the week. We got to whits about 10 mins before they close @9 and wait in line until they denied our service at exactly 9. They actually just told us they would only take until the people directly infront of us. They denied our service for no reason when we where there before close. The Ice cream is good but there service is absolutely sub par. On top of all that they do not have apple pay which is crazy inconvenient, but they at least advertise that at the door. read more

Whit's serves some of the best custard ice cream in town. I usually get a mini whitser with strawberries. The mini is pretty big so I can never finish it on my own. Also it melts pretty quickly since it's so creamy. Got to start eating it as soon as they hand it to you! read more

I've only been here once, so I just have to give them the benefit of the doubt. I tried a small raspberry royal (I forget the exact name) - it was a blended custard with raspberry sauce and fudge. I liked it! It came out fast even with a pretty long line of college students and the texture was great. I think the raspberry and fudge went well together. My only complaint is that it melted crazy fast and I was left with mostly heavy cream sludge... I guess that's a risk you take with custard, but I still wish it came out a little colder. read more

Nice little local a spot in Athens, right on the corner. I think they tally the people who drive down the street the wrong way, as I saw a sign on their wall with hash marks. (I imagine a lot of people violate the one-way street right outside). Creamy and yummy. Refreshing frozen custard on a hot hot day. I never frequented here much when I lived at OU, but it is a great place to visit when you go back. I am not a coffee person, but the coffee part of of restaurant makes some great hot chocolate. I've had whits before and it was decent. I went back today and ordered the buckeye madness. I was disappointed when I received a vanilla blended shake. I understand on the menu that it does says they'll serve it with vanilla if you don't ask for another flavor, but it was my first time ordering this item and only my second time at white so I lacked this knowledge. I kindly asked them if they could remake what I ordered because I really don't care for vanilla custard and was paying 5 dollars for it. That is premium price and it should be something you really want. The girl making the custard said to the cashier after I asked "I'm not remaking it" in a rude way that made me feel really bad in front of the whole line of people. Great custard. I thought it would be too sweet, but it was just right. Creamy and delicious. Prices were a tad high but not unreasonable. Affogato - vanilla custard with fresh espresso poured over it was outstanding. They have various unique menu items that our kids enjoyed, including a gigantic banana split. A townie classic! Anyone who visits Athens should definitely try out their signature custard ice cream. I usually get their weekly flavors as an excuse to try out a variety of flavors as they are cheaper. On the other hand, their Dreamsicles are really good too! However, a journey to Whit's is never fully complete without leaving the store with a pint of their custom ice cream to take home. My personal favorite is their German Cake flavor. Hard to give a place a rating when they don't stick to posted hours. Stopped by with a date on Friday night at 9:50, doors were open but employee sweeping floor as another comes out behind counter and tells me they're actually closed... despite posted hours of open till 10pm -_- Can only guess the college aged employees wanted to high tail it out on a Friday night, I really don't know, but not professional to turn away customers when you should be open posted hours. The employees were very very rude to our group and the customer service was non existent. We arrived at the store and we're told "no were are out of custard". She continuously yelled at our group and raised her voice to students. Her behavior was unacceptable and I would not recommend visiting this restaurant. Best treat in Athens! The custard is so delicious. It's smooth and perfectly flavored. If your a coffee lover, you have to try the Afagato. The coffee and specialty drinks are fairly priced. The customer service is excellent, the people who work there are always very nice and helpful. read more

Whits is great. Their frozen custard is rich and delicious, and they also have great coffee and food. They offer blended frozen custard desserts called "whitsers" similar to Dairy Queen blizzards but thicker and richer! You can build your own, or pick one off the menu. read more

We stopped in after a long day on campus at OU doing an amateur photo shoot. The frozen custard was pretty good and the staff was friendly. It was a bit crowded as the location is directly across from OU's campus and there were a lot of students in the place studying for finals or on their laptops or, in a few cases, just taking a break from that end-of-year rush. read more
