I randomly stumbled across this place and so glad that I did especially since I'm very rarely in Courthouse. The restaurant is nicely laid out with enough space and extremely clean. The wonderful lady at the cashier station walked me through the menu and gave me suggestions. I ended up going with the chicken and beef kofta combo platter and was not disappointed. It's a seat yourself restaurant and by the time I was seated, water and pita was provided for me while I waited for my food. The pita was fresh out of the oven and delicious. Stumbled upon this gem by accident while in the neighborhood. I ordered a beef kofta kabob platter to go. The woman who took my order was very nice and friendly. I visited Courthouse Kabab today while visiting family in Arlington, Virginia. I decided to eat-in after a short walk to the restaurant. The restaurant is small and a unique combination of family-style, combos meals by number, kebabs/kofta, and catering. I love Mediterranean and Afghan food when I am in metro Washington, D.C. because I have limited choices back home for this type of food. The young lady who took my order was so friendly and attentive to my questions and concern for my level of spice tolerance. It was a two-way dialogue to help me make choices based on my palate and food interest. I was quickly served fresh made naan bread, which was lightly crispy with butter provided. My waitress was very attentive to my needs. She brought me water and checked on me often, even while I waited. My meal arrived and was amazing. The rice was tasty, fluffy and visually appealing (colorful). My lamb kabab was tender and seasoned to perfection. The chickpeas were slightly spicy, but not overpowering and the lamb curry was cooked slowly with love and care creating loads of flavor. For desert I chose rice pudding which was creamy and lightly flavored with cinnamon. It is clear the restaurant does a lot of to-go orders or delivery orders, but the dining room was dotted with patrons. There was a steady flow of customers while I enjoyed my meal and people watched. Other staff members were also verbally inviting and happy I chose their restaurant. If you are looking for an Afghan, Mediterranean or a Halal meal, Courthouse Kabab is an excellent choice. Food was well prepared with an ample portion of meat/protein. I ordered a beef kabob wrap and my wife got the gyro sandwich. The pitas were soft and definitely freshly baked and the two sauces (one tzatziki the other a creamy green sauce) were just okay. I upgraded my side from chips to fries. Ordering fries for take out is always risky--if the order is delayed, the fries are barely warm. That's exactly what happened. Grub hub is the middle man, and though I was informed by the text that I would be notified when my order was ready, I sat in the restaurant and waited for the next text; it never came. Finally the counter person asked me if I was waiting for pick-up, and when I said yes and gave her my name, she handed me my food. We ate it back at the hotel and sure enough I ate warm fries! Without the order delay, I would probably give Courthouse Kabob a 4, but with delay, a 3 is more appropriate. This was my first time dining at this establishment. The service was outstanding. You have to go to the counter to order. Once I placed my order. I grabbed a table. I didn't order a drink. I wasn't thirsty. It was a rainy and chilly day. A young lady came from behind the counter with a hot cup of jasmine tea. I was pleasantly surprised and happy. I wanted to give her a hug. No-frills middle eastern spot with a comprehensive menu and large portions of very tasty food I came here with my GF for dinner and we were told to take a seat at a table, and that they would wait on us if we wanted to eat-in (which we did not expect) It is a barebones spot, but clean and with ample seating The staff here were all incredibly friendly, and the food was very tasty as well. The best things IMO were the complimentary naan bread that came with my chicken kabob dish & the dipping sauces. They also gave us complimentary tea & sugar, which was great as well. I was a big fan of the predecessor, Afghan Kabob House (https://www.yelp.com/biz/afghan-kabob-house-arlington). I loved their Shrimp Kabob, Salmon Kabob, Surf and Turf Kabob and, most importantly, their Chopan Kabob (Lamb Chops) which I thought was the best lamb in Arlington. Every time I ordered food from here, be it 2 in the afternoon or 2 in the morning, the food was consistently excellent and reasonably priced. So, when Courthouse Kabob took over, I was curious to see if they retained the same quality. I was initially impressed that they renovated the place to make it a little more dine-in friendly with actual plates, silverware and table service. I gave it a couple of tries at first but, sadly, it just seemed not to be as good to me. Fast forward to last Labor Day when, because of medical issues, I was placed on a restricted diet. So, I decided to give the place another try. Man, am I glad I did. Whatever "complaints" I had were made in haste as it seemed that it was simply a matter of them working out the kinks in opening a new place. Everything I liked before was equaled or surpassed. Their chicken shawarma is the best I have had since I lived in Saudi Arabia. But the very best surprise was the Lamb Shank skewer. If you have ever been to Greek restaurants like Nostos or Our Mom Eugenia and gotten the Arni Youvetsi/Giouvetsi, this is what it's like: juicy, tender, fall-of-the-bone lamb which is outstanding. If there was a house specialty, I would nominate this. Similarly, the Quabli Palaw platter, is the same lamb shank topped with raisins and carrots. I was skeptical at first but decided to give it a try. I thought that was an odd combination of toppings but, to my surprise and delight, it really works well! The staff here are always friendly, the service is fast, the prices are reasonable, and the quality of food is consistent. My one complaint is that, to me, their tzatziki sauce tzucks. I've been to a lot of Greek/Afghan places and this version is not what I'm used to. But since I rarely, if ever, use sauce on anything, it's not the end of the world. And since the food is so good on its own, it's really unnecessary anyway. read more

Curry chicken was overcooked and I prefer more spice but it was good. I think a lot of curry the chicken is usually overcooked though and it's nature of the dish IMO. First time I ever had firnee (afghan custard?) and it was delicious. Had a vanilla flavor and it was a lot more delicate than flan but firmer than pudding. I'm a big fan of courthouse kabob; they're a good go-to for a carry out dinner. The salmon kabob is my favorite; always cooked perfectly (not overdone), and pairs so nicely with the spinach stew, potato stew, or chickpeas. Everything is seasoned just right, and has a lot of flavor. And their naan! Possibly my favorite part. It's a HUMONGOUS piece and so pillowy. One good plus, is that there is a huge visual menu visible to you as soon as you walk in. This way you can a sense of what to order if you are unsure. The dining space is huge and super clean as well....which make Courthouse Kabob great for large group and families. Also, the portions are good and definitely shareable which is something my coworkers and I did With most meals, they give you two side of vegetables, either chick peas, cauliflower, eggplant or potatoes (made in a very Desi/Pakistani way with bread and your main entree (protein) of Beef, Lamb, Chicken and Grilled Salmon. The Lamb and Grilled Salmon are my favorites here. They also offer lunch specials that are a great deal between $8-$12 bucks. This place also offers free tea to its customers. I had lived in courthouse for years but never stopped into this little restaurant. Finally, one weekend I decided to stop here for dinner. After looking over the extensive menu, I decided to pick up a veggie kabob platter. Fortunately, it also came with a side, so after a bunch of choices and a tough decision, I ended up I ordering the lentil soup! For the dining option, I opted for take out and it didn't take long at all. I just waited about 10-15 mins and the food was ready. I am so disappointed in myself for sleeping on this spot!! As a vegetarian there were tons of great options for me including this veggie platter as well as a falafel platter if you wanted more protein! The flatbread was amazing, the rice was flavorful, and the fresh veggies were grilled to perfection. The veggies were so fresh and plentiful, they give you a generous amount for the price. My friends and I have been eyeing this restaurant for over month and finally found the chance to try it out yesterday evening. The restaurant is clean, but we opted to sit outside due to the nice weather. Just a note, if you are eating at the restaurant (party of 2+), they will charge a 10% service fee here. It was chewy and flavorful (like I could eat it without the sauces) and great to snack on while we were waiting for the chicken kabob. The chicken kabob was beautifully presented. The side of vegetables I chose were the chickpeas, which were saucy and not overcooked (like they were solid pieces and not overly mushy). There was lots of rice of different colors. I think there's too much rice for the amount of meat given. The chicken was flavorful but a bit dry. I'd say it's worth the money but lots of carbs. My friend got the beef kabob, which I'd say was a much better choice in terms of taste. Beef was tender and not dry! Overall, solid kabob choice if you're in the Courthouse area. Otherwise, there's better kabob restaurants along the Orange/Silver line if you're willing to trek a bit further for better pricing (not sure if I can say better tasting because I haven't had these kabob restaurants too often). read more
