I've heard great things about Charga from a friend, so I grabbed some to-go this past Tuesday for dinner. There's less than 10 parking spaces outside, and I'm not sure if there's any seating inside. Ordering online (via Toast) is super straightforward, and my food was ready within 30 minutes. CHICKEN TIKKA KABOB MEAL - 14 Most drinks are complimentary, except for the mango lassi (+3). Since I had enough sweets for the day, I opted for a bottle of water for health reasons. The meal was generously portioned, enough for me to enjoy half of it as leftovers for a second meal. It came with a small platter of food and a large piece of naan. The naan wasn't too thick, but it still had a nice chewy texture that paired well with the meal and dipping sauces on the side. The platter contained thick, charred, pieces of chicken breast, a generous serving of basmati rice and chickpeas, along with a side of house salad and pickled onions and beets. The chickpeas were phenomenal -- saucy, incredibly well-seasoned and spiced, pairing perfectly with the lightly salted basmati rice. The salad was light, fresh, and had a few juicy tomato chunks that added a nice contrast. I also really enjoyed the beets, which were tangy and helped balance the rich flavors of the meal. The chicken itself had a strong, smoky grilled flavor, but some edges were overly charred and blackened, so it was inedible. While the chicken was flavorful, it was a bit dry and not as juicy as I had hoped. The chicken was my only qualm -- everything else was so good. Overall, a 4.5/5 but bumping it to a 5/5 because I loved the chickpeas and basmati rice so much. I could eat this for multiple meals in a row. 3.5 stars. I ordered the lamb and chicken kabob corner for pickup during their opening week. Service was a bit slow due to them being understaffed and I had to wait almost 30 min past my pickup time. I understand that they just open and hopefully their staff and processes have had a uptick since then. The food had good flavors. A little burnt on some of the ends of the meat, but very minor. We have been here a couple times since they opened on the pike and we give it a 10/10! What I didn't realize and I don't think people do is they make everything fresh. Sometimes it means you are waiting a little longer for your food but it is worth the wait. We've had the lamb souvlaki, shawarma wrap, cheesesteak, wings, chickpeas, naan, dumplings, charga chicken, lentils, yuca, kabob. My favs have been the chickpeas, souvlaki and shawarma wrap. Their spicy fries are excellent. The chick peas and the butter chicken are very rich and tasty. The curry chicken is spiced very well, more of thinner sauce though than a thick curry. The chicken sandwich is huge. The best for me has been the burger, with the jalapeños and the cheese, it's pretty incredible with the drink and fries included for only $7. Phenomenal taste and price, which is what I can say about this place overall. This place is great. I stopped in for Saturday lunch and was met by extremely friendly staff who allowed me to sample a variety of menu items before I placed my order. I was pleasantly surprised by the sample of the Mac and Cheese; still not quite sure why a kabob place offers this, but it was really good. My entree (chicken tikka kabob platter) was probably the best kabob I've had in the D.C. area in six years living here. And at the price point of $11 including a beverage, it was far cheaper than the "market" price for this type of food. My friend and I decided to check this place out after seeing the $7 sandwich deal. The cashier was amazing and gave us recommendations and a little background about the restaurant. I got the Chicken Shawarma Sandwich and my friend got the Lamb Gyro. They cooked the naan fresh in front of us which was incredible.
