Well exceeded my expectations when visiting Cornell for graduation! They texted me before my arrival and I asked for two beds due to the number in my party and they graciously complied. The room was clean and large enough for 4 people who get along. Shower had powerful and hot water. We especially appreciated the free hot coffee, cookies and pastries available all the time. The bistro served ok breakfast but can't complain since as a Marriott platinum member you get $20 food credit per day so if you stay within budget you can get a free breakfast. There is a pool, laundry facilities and outdoor seating. Plenty of parking outside in the lot. Within maybe 11- 15 minutes of Cornell by car. Pro tip: book one year in advance for Cornell graduation if you want to use points. I used 74,000 points for two nights. Also, if you call and speak to someone, ask for the Cornell rate and you can probably get it for $250 a night. I was surprised that they had rooms a few months before graduation when I called. For some reason, people don't think this hotel is near Cornell but it is! I guess because it is not near any restaurants within walking distance, it's not as popular. Noise through door and walls was very high level You can hear other guests in hallways nonstop. Very hard to sleep. No breakfast offered except at Starbucks cafe. Check-in is supposed to be at 3pm. We got there at 4pm and were told the room wasn't ready still NOT ready and it would take another hour. Ok fine, annoyed but we can kill time and drive around. Got back at 5pm. Tried to check in and the woman at the front desk refused to check us in and said the room would still not be ready for ANOTHER hour. Would not recommend this hotel to anyone. 4.5 stars. Stayed here for one night for Cornell visit. The staff were very friendly. Hotel was clean, room was roomy, bed and pillow were very comfortable. Knocking down half a star because our tv was not working. Also I never received the wake up call that was requested. Overall a very nice experience for our stay. read more

Apparently a great location... there is literally nothing to eat in the area after 8pm. Rooms virtually clean if you can open your door. AC does NOT work so wouldn't recommend in summer. The staff is new, untrained and rude. Rare that I, a travel agent, have ever experienced this level of awful at a Marriott. This brand is my go to for all travel. Also, dog friendly hotel so if you do not have a pet with you, beware they bark all night. read more

"Great location. Everything else, not quite ok." EDITED from two stars to one upon receipt of the final bill. $330 *average* price per night for NO breakfast, conveniences, fitness center or functioning climate control? I've never used the term "rip-off" in a Yelp review, but here it is. This is a rip-off. Nope. Nope, nope, nope, nope, nope, nope, and NOPE. (Original, pre-rip-off review:) It's in a solid spot, quiet yet pretty convenient to downtown, Stewart Park, etc. If you have doggos--or just like to take a morning or evening walk--the surrounding tech park is ideal. Also, the rooms are very quiet. However. The room AC controls are a mystery to guests and staff alike. Our AC periodically malfunctioned during an Ithaca July. The front desk said they'd look into it--they didn't--and then admitted they had no control over how the system works. A security staffer eventually showed us a hidden switch whereby the system can be reset and made to function as designed for 10-12 hours at a time. (Protip: it's above one of the acoustic panels in the closet. Use a hangar to reach up and flip it off, then back on. No, I'm not making this up.) Other notes: the side door nearest to our room had a malfunctioning card reader. No entry. Also, the breakfast isn't free; they charge top dollar should you choose to go that way. They use Starbucks products, which is a fraught choice given that company's recent awful local history. In all, it's tough--EDIT: "impossible"--to recommend this Marriott because they fail at key basics. read more

This must be the worst Marriott in the entire chain. Bad beds (very soft; I woke up with a back ache). No breakfast other than some packaged yogurt - not even toast. No coffee in the "Bistro." Weak/see-through coffee in the entry. No fresh cream or milk, just tiny containers of fake creamer. An HVAC unit that makes the room sound like the inside of an airplane in flight. The room door handle doesn't work normally - we thought it was broken but the front desk clerk explained that it had to be turned a certain way. Insufficient staff to run normal operations. My friend and I stayed there for four nights last week. From the very first day, there was no hot water. When we initially reported the issue, the front desk acted surprised and said they would send a technician. By the end of the day, they claimed it had been fixed--but for the next three days, we continued taking cold showers. On our last day, they offered me $55 worth of Marriott points as compensation, which felt completely inadequate. They also mentioned they were under new management, as if that explained the situation. Overall, it was extremely disappointing. They should have been upfront before check-in if there was a chance hot water wouldn't be available. The lack of honesty was unacceptable. read more

This increasingly dumpy Courtyard is so past needing a renovation that it shouldn't be associated with the Marriott brand. Door locks to rooms malfunction, 3 of the 4 ice machines broken and disappeared, side entry key broken, sofa from the black hole of Calcutta, dead bugs in the light fixture, a gaggle of loud, inconsiderate adults and their out of control children turning the hallway adjacent to us into their private space with noise well past midnight. This hotel did a great job! I felt very safe, everything looked clean, everyone was masked. Our room was spacious and comfy and that bed was perfect! The bathroom was laughingly small but the shower head more than made up for it. Pool and gym we're closed which kinda sucked but totally understandable. Staff was friendly and helpful with local suggestions. We didn't mind housekeeping our own room, they were quick to replace our linens, leaving them safely in the hall so they weren't in our room. A great example for the Marriott Brand! Oh and pet friendly! read more

I have never stayed at a Marriott where the staff has been this out of touch. First the images attached with the chat, 5 mins after my "??" Chat I ended up calling them which is the only reason they responded to the chat. I was not greeting when getting in the shuttle or entering the hotel, not a hello, not a we will be with you in a moment, when the person in front of me was done the young man behind the counter just stared at me. Not once was I thanked for being platinum, I was not given any details about hours for breakfast (which they charge for and is awful), generally with any status you are offered the highest floor possible. I was I given a higher floor, while there are 2 floors above me and a lot of vacant rooms, the other gentle man in the elevator went to the 4th for his room so I know they were using it. I regret staying here, I only did it for the convenience since I flew in today and fly out tomorrow, but I will not be making that mistake again the next time I come to town read more

If this hotel were 30% cheaper, it might be five stars. $190 for a small town airport hotel? C'mon man! I'm not sure if it's overbuilt, over amenitized, or price gouged for the $50,000+ a-year-tuition-paying parents and business travelers. They're not cheap-asses like me, appreciating value. They're thrilled with the pet-friendly rooms and free shuttle to shopping and Cornell. So yeah, I'm subsidizing those amenities paying a high rack rate. Positives: great staff, good but limited food options, clean rooms. I sincerely want to give the staff five stars. Very nice people. Annoyance: for as large as the rooms are, the bathroom is awkwardly small. Why can I do somersaults and Jazzercise in the main area and yet feel like I'm on a cruise ship bathroom? Tiny. Lipstick on a pig, what a dumb . Where do I begin ? I paid $237.00 per night for 2 nights. No so inexpensive. I gave 1 star rating because I couldn't give a minus 3 stars. 1.) So is to much to expect to have clean towels staying 2 nights, told had to stay 3 nights to have housekeeping. 2. Breakfast advertised as included, but it wasn't . You pay dearly for it, extra, also no coffee except a Starbucks , 2 regular size $7.00. WTF, who wants to drink bathroom coffee, not me. 3. The outside area was fitly and all the cushions were wet, so yo could not sit out there. This property is poorly maintained and poorly managed, with poor customer service. Never stay here for a visit, only if there's no place elsewhere! I want a refund or a discount. What a crap whole, hopefully there are no bedbugs. read more

Security alert! IMHO, do not stay in this hotel. The locks on the doors consistently did not work each night of our stay. I was here 4 nights and each night the door locks did not work when I returned. On my final night, I was locked out of my room and the room another family member stayed in at least 3 times over the course of the evening. It took over an hour for the (very helpful) staff to reset the keys and re-program and then re-battery the lock mechanism on the doors. After that, I was still locked out 2 times throughout the remainder of the evening. Also of note, of the multiple times I went to the front desk, I worked with different staff each time and never did any of them check my ID to confirm I was the guest. I was told the hotel has not invested in the room locks for about 20 years. I had to ensure my elderly mother secured her door with a chair to ensure her safety overnight. This hotel located in an office park and it is literally in the middle of nowhere (meaning no eateries that is less than 10 mins drive away). This hotel is always the last hotel filling up during the special events at the nearby universities due to its proximity away from town / schools. The good part is the largeness of the room with 2 queen beds (rare). Everything in the room was in order except the housekeeping forgot our amenities (shampoo and soap) upon check in but it was fixed quickly after calling the front desk. No problem there. I've a life time elite status with Bonvoy / Marriott so I'll probably come back here again - as the Marriott at the Ithaca Common is expensive and hard to get in (very popular). read more

Just OK. A dull and drab room on the first floor looking out into the parking lot (how...charming). The bed was comfy, its most selling feature. The bathroom was unacceptably tiny, a ridiculous design by someone who should not be designing rooms. The toiletries were so blah that I didn't even feel tempted to take some for the road, which is sad. A broken ice machine, duh faced front counter folk, a small & sad pool, a boarded up hot tub, and an uninspired lounge area which doubles as a bar/cafe. Overall on okay experience. Stayed for one night and the room while dated in decor was generally clean. Front desk at check-in wasn't overly good or bad in attitude or efficiency. Bed comfort was average but pillows were not supportive at all. My primary point for them to improve upon was the breakfast price verse value statement. Hotel was super nice no complaints up until 3am where it all went down the drain. My leg was itching so I pulled the sheets off of me and found a huge bed bug. My leg was itching for a few minutes but I tried to ignore it. My skin is super sensitive. For it to be a "Marriot" hotel I definitely did not expect to be bitten by bed bugs. Huge inconvenience that we had to check out at 3 in the morning because there was no way I was sleeping there ( if there's 1 bed bug theres probably more ) I've experienced bed bug issues in hotels before but it's just shocking for Marriot. We checked out and requested a refund because we didn't even finish our stay along with the huge inconvenience and was told that we would have to wait for the manager to contact us. Will be updating this once we hear back from the Manager to see if their any type of sympathetic of the issue. Issues as this need to be taken seriously but since hotels want to continue making their money they probably wont. In reality the whole hotel needs to be shut down and checked. Really happy with the service we received. Because it was a busy weekend and because our plans changed a few times leading up to it, we ended up booking multiple rooms and multiple different time frames. With one quick chat message through the app, the team at the hotel had our rooms all sorted exactly as I asked! Breakfast counter served us 15 minutes after closing. Rooms and common areas were clean and in good repair. The near airport location is actually in a very nicely landscaped office park with streams, ponds, deer, ducks and bunnies. Not bad... I chose to stay here for a long weekend because it's a dog-friendly hotel that looked clean and modern. Most of the guests staying here must've had a similar idea because there were several dogs hanging out. I have to say though, the rates are a bit high considering that it's not even centrally located or that fancy of a hotel. I'm actually a Marriott gold elite but I didn't get any special welcoming (that I normally get at other Marriott locations) which was disappointing. That being said, the staff are generally pleasant. I guess I'd probably stay here again if my dog is traveling with me but otherwise, I'd try something closer to the Commons. read more

A fairly standard Marriot experience: Friendly service, clean rooms, good bedding, reliable internet. No worries here. Marriott may be slightly pricier than most places but its worth it. My only gripe was the breakfast buffet which wasn't terrible but the eggs were super-runny (I know they are from a box but still). Also one day they had oatmeal (awesome) and then the next day they swapped it out with gruel... oh I mean grits. Also slow wait service. Great desk staff. Helpful with recommendations on places to eat and very responsive and fast to check in. TIP: Like many hotels they have a van that will take you anywhere you need to go. Use it. I've stayed at this property three times now (on Associate rate when in town for Cnell reunion events) and very much wish I could give it a more positive review. To their credit, the service I've experienced has been consistently solid (relative to select service standards) - specifically I've always had positive interactions with very personable and accommodating front desk associates. On a less positive note, the signage on 13 and in general is terrible/non-existent and makes it challenging to find. Especially since it can't be seen from the main road...Please...Invest in Signage!! The rooms are somewhat outdated and need improvement and additional investment, but they're tolerable for a one or two night stay. Not of the same caliber of most other CY properties I've stayed in. The lobby and bistro are nice however. They're welcoming and relatively modernized/up to date. Need to try and find a fix for the chlorine smell from pool leaking into the rooms on 1st floor. On my first stay I had to change rooms 2x's and on all stays (including one on 4th floor), the rooms have generally not smelled good. Understanding this may not be a CY standard, it would still be nice if they could at least focus on making sure everything smells clean and fresh to improve the sensory experience. This Marriott is an out of the way hotel located in Tompkins Airport. You have to go through hoops to find it. Like the city of Ithaca itself, the Marriott is neglectful in providing any type of street sign. The rooms and bedding are clean, comfortable and the surroundings quiet; which is surprising, considering it's in the middle of a busy airport. They offer free hardwire internet and most importantly, a decent time block of uncensored Adult Cinema. Their in-house pool is small; about 11 ft long by 5 ft wide. The gym is well equipped; with rows of treadmills, elipictals and accompanying televisions. Unfortunately, the only food available is a small concession stand and the breakfast buffet. Which, like most Marriott breakfast buffets, pretty much suck. The coeds at the front desk seems to have a bit of an attitude. This is the first time I've experienced something like this in any Marriott, in regards to the Front Desk. The rest of the staff is very pleasant. read more

Hands down best feature is the shuttle to and from the hotel. Runs every hour from 7am-10pm and will take you to Cornell or the Commons. Saved us a small fortune on taxi rides! read more

This place has a lot of gaul charging $240 per night...considering it is in Ithaca and not Manhattan! The elevators were broken and when I called down asking for towels they explained they would be damp since the machine wasn't working? WTF? For the same price I would have to imagine you would be able to find a much better option nearby. read more

I am a consultant and I travel a lot of different cities and have typically have 100+ Hotel night stays every year. I have to say that when compared to any other Marriott courtyard I have ever stayed at, this place Really stands out. Everyone at the hotel is very accommodating. They allowed me to use the hotel shuttle to go to several places that were not that close. Everyone I met at the hotel genuinely cared about making stay pleasant and least painful. The hotel itself was fine. My room seems to have been updated fairly recently or else it has held up well. However, the breakfast buffet was well below bad and I had to pay to get it. The scrambled eggs were watery, the bacon could not possibly have come from a pig and seemed microwaved not fried and I was barely able to choke down the one piece of what appeared to be pineapple. I actually have low expectations for a breakfast buffet but I don't think they could have offered a worse spread than what I ate. read more

Flights are always canceled through this airport. I checked a bag with American Airlines so I could bring a snowglobe for my fiancee. The TSA ended up taking it away from me saying either I miss my flight or I give up the gift and they throw it away. I felt terrible leaving this place. read more

Stayed here while passing through Ithaca and it was a great experience. We opted for the "suite" or the room with more space, which was nice. It had a small lounge area with a couch, a few chairs and a TV and then another TV in front of the bed. The view was actually a lot better than I expected. I liked how it overlooked the patio below. The staff was very friendly. We had some issues hooking up Bluetooth / Netflix to our TV but when we called for technical assistance, they were able to walk us through it over the phone. Very helpful! The only thing that was a bit disappointing was the size of the bathroom - getting the larger room, I assumed that the bathroom would be larger as well but it was a bit small and cramped. I would definitely come back again if I am ever in Ithaca again! read more

Horrible customer service... I tried to cancel my reservation a week in advance, and they would not refund one dime. So I just lost out on hundreds of dollars. I don't think I will ever be staying at another Courtyard Marriot- especially this location! From one guest to another, do yourself a favor and book a room elsewhere! read more
