STAY AWAY! Let me start off by saying the costumer service at this hotel is absolutely terrible. The first time I went there to look at the rooms the two people working behind the desk just talked to each other and did not knowledge me. So I left. My mom being a marriott member caused me to try again. Well , during the 10 months I was planning my wedding there were three different people in charge of my wedding. The person in charge each time left the marriott. I did not understand why there was such a big turn over in staff until now. That should have been a big enough red flag for me as it is. Well... I continue to book my wedding block there and now it is time for my guests to book their rooms. The people that were booking their rooms did not put them under my room block (causing a lot of issues) Anyways, two days before the wedding my mother had a bad feeling that something would go wrong so she went to the hotel to talk with the new manager in charge of my wedding room block. The first thing listed in my contract was Extended Bar hours. (Usually the bar at the hotel closes at 11. Well for my wedding they assured me they would keep the bar open for me.) So fast forward to the night of my wedding (It was the bestttttt day/night of my life until... i arrive on our bus with 50 guests from the wedding back to the hotel) We walked in ready for a last drink or two to continue celebrating. Now I cannot express in here how extremely rude the people where working. The bar manager told me the bar was closed and there was nothing she can do to reopen it. They were never informed by their manager to keep it open. (I found out two days later that they could have reopened the bar they just didn't want to.) They refused to open the bar. The woman in charge of my wedding block admitted that she dropped the ball and forget to tell them to keep the bar open. However, her team should have picked up the pieces and made it right and at that time reopened the bar and deal with the mistake in the morning. I was embarrassed as I invited all of my guests back to the hotel for a little after party. They completely ruined that. The guy working the front desk actually told my mom - "come back tomorrow night we will be open late for the wedding tomorrow." The bar manager (i wish i remember her name but she had blonde hair and was the rudest person i have ever met - to be honest i think she should be fired - it would be in the best interest of the hotel) Told me that i should be grateful because she put strawberries and champagne in my room. (This was also in my contract. She did not accommodate me or show any sympathy. She did not apologize for the mistake. Ok- Point of my story is - do nottttttt book with the marriott in shelton for you wedding - even if your saving money because you are a member. Do not take the chance of them ruining your one special night like they ruined mine. Ill never get that back. read more

Friendly staff. Building was super clean and well lit. Room was also kept spotless.

We stayed there on a recent Saturday night. The construction seemed to be over that was going on the last time we stayed. The place was very clean. We were greeted right away by the desk personnel. It was not crowded. Our room was clean, the bathroom was in great shape, the rugs were vacuumed in the elevator and their was no noise. Their was a 16th birthday party that night down in one of the ballrooms but we were not disturbed by it or it's guests at all. We have never eaten here. Their is free coffee in the morning over by the bar to get you going and it's not bad. The linens on the bed and in the bathroom were fresh and appeared new. Their are plenty of places nearby to eat and it's close to Sacred Heart University and other sights. read more

This hotel is horrible. I am a handicapped person that needed a handicap suite so that my wheelchair could fit in room and I could get around easily. We called in advance to speak to the manager and he assured me that it was all taken care of and I would be comfortable. It couldn't be farthest from that. The room design was terrible! I could not fit my wheelchair into the bathroom. There was no shower stool for me to sit on and it was very difficult to get in and out of the shower without assistance. The refrigerator froze everything we put in there even on the lowest setting. Our room key only worked half the time. We tried reaching out to management while we were there and nothing was ever done. The best they said they would do would give me 15% off a nights stay. We were there a week spending almost 1000.00!! When I got my bill the discount wasn't even applied. Not that it would have helped anyway. I think it's terrible that a large hotel chain like this would not be accommodating to handicap individuals. I will never stay there again and I will tell everyone. read more

After having a stressful check out I managed to leave something in the hotel, I realized this after getting back home to Maine, a four hour drive away from the hotel. I called the next day to tell them this and was told that she would talk to house keeping and get back to me, which never happened. I called back later in the day to follow up and spoke to a women that assured me that house keeping did in fact have my brand new LL Bean jacket and they have free shipping, albeit the slowest method they would send it back to me the next day. Silly me I trusted this conversation and let a week pass by. When I called back to inquire about my jacket I was told there was not only no record of the conversation but house keeping was unable to find the item. So, if I leave the hotel with one of their items I am charged 2 to 3 times the value. They have all of my information, so it must be hotel policy to allow employees to take whatever is left in hotel rooms and not notify the customer. This employee told me I could expect a call back that day from a supervisor, am I surprised that didn't happen either? Not really. So if you have children, and potentially might be scattered brain enough to forget an item, be aware that it means it a free for all for the employees and you will never see it again. We were a party of 3. The size of the room was comfortable for all of is to move around without tripping over each other. Very clean, well staffed, everyone was very polite and helpful. The pool area was very clean. We enjoyed our stay and will choose Courtyard Marriot for our future trips. read more

This Marriott was very clean, the front-desk staff was friendly, and the room (standard room with a king bed on the 7th floor) was comfortable and a good size. I didn't try any of the amenities except for breakfast, which was average and what you would expect. I spent two nights. read more

Courtyard - updated style, but a little dated. Good for area. Good value & price.

We hosted a tribute for my dear father in the event room. We had about 60 guests, some of whom stayed at the hotel overnight as well. We needed the large room cut in two for the tribute portion and then the food, drink, and display portion. Nicole K. handled everything professionally, promptly and with the care and concern you would expect for an event like this. The day before, we brought loads of photos, collages, my dad's favorite hats, etc and she handled the layout and presentation with finesse. Even though these were all our momentos, she put them together in such a way that I was incredibly impressed. Our guests couldn't say enough about the event and how well it was run. The food was very good and the waitstaff were attentive. Some of us lingered at the end, and we were not rushed out, since there was no event to follow us that evening. I would recommend this facility and Nicole for any family event. read more

I stayed at this Courtyard for one night this weekend. The room is decent; size is fine but not spacious, designed similar to other Courtyard locations. The lobby looks nice and includes a bar. There's an indoor pool on-site and a fitness center. The hotel seemed very underbooked, as most of the parking lot was barren, but there seemed to be plenty of parking. So anyway, I can't give this location more than 3 stats because the bed covers were thin and seemed undersized, it was difficult to get the temperature of the room to a comfortable level (seemed constantly too hot or too cold), and this has got to be the only hotel I've stayed in where not only was I hearing the guests in the room next to me, but also above me. I have NEVER heard people in the room above me anywhere and it was not pleasant when they were walking around until 2:00 a.m. If these things don't bother you, then you will find the hotel perfectly suitable. read more

If I could give this hotel no stars I would... To start it off they gave us a hard time finding out room we all together have about 7 rooms here. Us along with 2 other people had problems with their reservations. Secondly the price they quoted us on the phone was almost "$20" less then what they charged us when we got here and didn't notice till we looked at the receipt... Thirdly the restaurant and bar so overly packed and the only people working was one waitress and one bar tender which made people very uneasy when they had to wait 1hr and 45 min for their food including A SALAD! Once we got to our room after bringing it to the front desks attention about the "300"? Kids here for a hockey tournament running the hall ways and knocking on random peoples doors then running away they allowed it to continue ... Then we get a list of 38 channels to choose from with the tv we are only getting about 5!!!! All the others are static channels ... When making the pull out bed and taking the blankets out of the bad from the closet we noticed and felt the amount of crusty substance all over the blanket.... I am never staying here again this is the 2nd or 3rd time we have stayed at this hotel with family and always had some sort of problem this will be our last visit to the courtyard Marriott in Shelton. read more
