I stayed here for 1 night during the week for work. I booked the 1 Bedroom 2 room Suite, 1 King, Sofa bed. Room - 7/10 weirdly large, clean, no issues with temperature, mini refrigerator, microwave. Not sure about the sofa bed because I didn't actually need it so I forgot to check if it was actually a sofa bed. Bed - 7/10 comfortable, feather pillows which aren't my favorite Bathroom - 9/10 large counter, decent lighting Shower - 7/10 hot water, decent water pressure, open door style so it was very drafty and whatever part of my body wasn't in the water was cold. Entertainment - 10/10 - tvs have Netflix Parking - 7/10 - valet which was nice, but a bit overpriced for South Bend. Location - 10/10 downtown, close to restaurants, close to airport. Gym - 7/10 decent size for a hotel, cardio equipment, free weights, water fountain in gym wouldn't shut off and leaked all over the floor Food - NA - breakfast not included and I did not order anything from the small onsite kitchen. Pool - NA - I did not use. Ice machine on my floor was broken, overall the hotel is just a little dated and could use some updates. read more

It has been three weeks since I spent one night here, and the bed bug bites are still very visible on my legs. Disgusting! I called the hotel to inform them of the bed bugs, and I got a follow-up email saying they got an exterminator. I requested a refund or credit via email to the man who sent me the follow-up and he never responded. Sad to say I paid nearly $200 for two dozen swollen, itchy, bloody bites on my legs for three weeks! read more

Hotel was generally fine. Room was clean. Bed wasn't the most comfortable. Unfortunately, clean staff threw out my suit cover. The staff tried hard to find it, but ultimately they admitted that they threw it out. They told me it was in the dumpster out back if I'd like to look for it. :( read more

I would say this is one of the best hotels in South Bend. It's located within walking distance to a lot of restaurants, coffee shops, bars and art center. The hotel was very clean. The staff was very friendly and accommodating. My mom left her glasses on the table downstairs and the next morning when checking out the young lady remembered my mom was the one at the table. Mom's $600 glasses found and all ended well. We really enjoyed the free art center across the road. Very nice and worth the time to visit. They had something for everyone. Including easels to create your own masterpiece. I do wish they offered happy hour with free drinks and hors d'oeuvres. Maybe in the future? Be prepared not to receive daily maid service. You can ask for clean towels etc. at front desk when needed. I would recommend they figure out a way to refresh towels, washcloths, toilet paper and empty trash daily. Clean, safe, & friendly hotel. My room safe was inoperable, and I didn't have time to wait for maintenance, so I hid my passport in my suitcase. I write a lot of reviews. You are reading this because you are a "stay to play" tournament guest (ME), or, because you are looking for a place in conjunction with visiting Notre Dame. No joking around in this review, just facts. Reason being, this information will help you. Seriously. Parking You have roughly three options. You can (1) park on the street or near the "mall" area, (2) park in a garage for $10, or (3) choose valet parking for $21 (cost when I stayed). (1) I was told that a parking ticket was roughly $20. But, be aware, it's probably by zone. Meaning, if you move your car to a different spot in the same zone, you will still probably get a ticket. Parking is free from 6PM to 6AM (which is basically 8AM because of 2 hour parking). So, if you pull in later and plan on heading out before 8, should be no issues. (2) No egress and ingress. I didn't park in the garage, but if you need to head out at any point, it might be $10 bucks a time - I didn't use this option so I'm not entirely sure. (3) Valet - they give you a phone number, you text your ticket in, and they respond with when your vehicle should be available. It's actually pretty easy; my longest wait time was ten minutes. I rolled in at 9PM on arrival, had to leave at 7AM for a hockey game, so I self parked day 1 and then chose valet for days 2-3 because I needed egress and ingress. Just know your options and pick accordingly. I'm not a fan of paying for parking when I'm a customer of a hotel. Hotel Staff Everyone (except one) was really awesome! Per above, I was a "stay to play" customer. The staff was accommodating, respectful, kind, helpful, and generally pretty cool. The exception is the very large man with a beard, he was really awful to multiple guests. I went back and forth in providing a picture of him but chose not to. It isn't right to call out bad staff in that way. Hotel Rooms They are okay. We had a broken shower and the water sometimes turned off. It was a little strange but, is what it is. Annoying but not a big deal. Gym They have roughly 3 or 4 (can't remember) sets of treadmills and ellipticals. Couple benches, dumbbells going from tiny to max 50 LBs, pretty nice pull system. No complaints. You will be okay here for whatever you want to do unless you are HE-MAN. I know I know, already said no jokes here, but I hope that helps. Pool It's tiny but all the kiddos had fun. Not bad at all Laundry They do offer laundry on a quarter basis with detergent available at the front desk Bar/Food They offer adult beverages and a limited menu Coffee Not available without charge; this was a bummer. Entertainment Nice TV's downstairs with plenty of seating. It's not a bad place to watch a game. Location It's in the mix of it all. There are a lot of businesses nearby. This is a newer hotel and I really liked the room. Staff was awesome. Every time I entered the entryway someone greeted me and asked how things were going. That was a nice touch and as a Titanium with Marriott this is the only hotel to do this! I recommend valet parking since space is tight. Close to everything downtown. This hotel was overall awesome. Great room, nice social spaces, lots of people staying here on business. I had a great experience generally speaking. My main problem was the breakfast and parking. Just got to the breakfast area at 9:40am and was immediately told they were closed for the day. Extremely early and I verbalized that. Breakfast is not included. Parking is also valet only and $25 for overnight per day. Hard to find any parking at all and I've learned that the valet team will park your car illegally if they can't find a spot. Valet guys are very nice, but the last thing you want to worry about is your car being towed or ticketed. Really liked the actual hotel, but could use work on those two things. read more

Convenient location. Perfectly fine room layout. Clean. Microwave & fridge. Bathtub, as I asked. Slow, small elevator(s) and steps that were pretty inconvenient. The gym had some broken equipment and pretty lame mats for stretching. The Bistro had a decent menu, but the prep/delivery varied based on who was in the kitchen. Some of my hot food was put in Styrofoam (YIKES!), while other dishes were in more acceptable/environmentally responsible cardboard containers. The salads had a mix of lettuce quality and quantity of toppings. Valet was friendly, but only Owen could drive manual transmission. (Perhaps management could offer some training??) Amber and Shania were especially friendly and helpful at the front desk. The water outage one day resulted in apologies (for those who complained) and a promise of 10K bonus Bonvoy points. Very clean. Very friendly staff. Nicely decorated. Comfortable beds. I don't care for down pillows, but it didn't bother me enough to call the front desk for different ones. Very quiet, and walking distance to many local bars and restaurants. There are only two reasons I don't give a 5 star, and they are hardly reasons not to stay here; the large, good quality tv in our room wasn't set up or set up right (turning it on, it shows the date as 01/01/16 and the guide is not right so we had to hunt and pick for our channels), and there is only valet parking (those guys are good! And fast, and nice) which cost $15 a night but there is free parking on the street right out in front of the building that we didn't see until after we already paid for parking. Saying that about the tv, we weren't in the room that much. I'll definitely stay here again if I'm back in town. read more

On arrival, we were greeted by a gentleman at the desk named Kody. He was extremely friendly and had already upgraded us to a suite. He also had some excellent suggestions for dinner. Once we got back from dinner, he got us some extra blankets and pillows for the pullout sofa. The nice thing about the hotel is it is very close to all of the restaurants downtown. We ended up valet parking for $15 and just walked to the South Bend Brewery (Awesome food/service) Overall, all of the staff were exceptional but Kody definitely stood out. I was also impressed with how fast the valet parking attendants were able to get our car and even helped us load our luggage. read more

Avoid this hotel. I have been traveling for business for over 40 years. I estimate that I have spent over 4000 nights in hotels around the world. This is the worst hotel I have ever stayed in. We stayed 5 days at the Courtyard downtown South Bend and had no hot water the entire stay and had no maid service. Complaints about the lack of our room being cleaned and the lack of hot water for showers drew apologies from the front desk, but no solution. Expecting hot and cold running water is the most basic requirement yet this hotel could not deliver. read more

The hotel itself is nice however the staff is rude and inconsiderate. The website on TripAdvisor states dogs allowed. Courtyard charged us for dogs and then after one night staying there the rude staff rudely kicked us out and said dogs were only allowed if dog was only a service dogs. No refund given. Extremely disappointed. We had an excellent stay. The room was clean and spacious. It was decorated with a modern feel. The front desk staff was accommodating and friendly. The reason that I gave this location one star is because we were quoted a total rate of $163.00 and verified that amount upon check-in. However my card was charged $220. A $50 variance is significant and not OK. I called the hotel and spoke with the front desk to inquire as to the reason and was given no assistance whatsoever. The only remedy that they gave me was that I could leave a voicemail for the general manager. So at the end of the day, even though the place was clean, the staff was friendly-my Credit card is charged $50 more than it should be. Furthermore in reference to customer satisfaction I was given no remedy whatsoever. I will not be back. You should not stay here and if you choose to stay make sure to monitor your credit card charges closely. read more

Dirty sheets (blood stains), no regular coffee (only decaf), no free coffee in lobby, free parking = maybe 10 spots for the entire hotel - otherwise your stuck with $22 valet parking - and to top it off NO HOT WATER!!!! I feel sad for people that think this dump is a "nice" hotel..... read more

Terrible! We stayed here for the weekend and were not able to talk to a manager for our entire stay! The manager was either not in or had "just left". Employees told us that there are no supervisors on weekends! Our main concern was that we booked a room with 2 queen beds four months in advance and when we arrived were told that they had given our room away. Our new room had one bed and since it was a handicapped room there was not a pull-out couch. We were traveling with our adult son so we told them this was not acceptable, but they were very unconcerned. They gave us a rollaway bed that my son's feet hung off the end and made it hard to get around our room. They gave us breakfast vouchers for our trouble, but their cook didn't show up for work and there were no supervisors so guess what - no breakfast. When we complained they said "your room type is not guaranteed when you book with Expedia". Expedia said that is not their policy. This same scenario happened to some other families were were traveling with. Bottom line, if you care about having the actual room type that you reserved, do not stay here! Also, the lack of managers and supervisors for such a large hotel on the weekend was very unsettling because things go wrong and there is nobody to help. It's also not in a very safe area! read more

No housekeeping for 3 nights. First the front desk said it had to be done by 9am or no housekeeping available. Then they said the best they could do is send towels (which they didn't). The next day they told us they don't provide housekeeping on 'Game Days' - this is ridiculous. Won't be staying there again. read more

Do not stay here unless you don't care for your car, and appreciate rudeness and thieves. The rooms themselves are nice and at first, everyone seemed super nice and helpful, but it quickly went downhill. 1) Let's first start with the valet attendant. It was a Thursday morning and quite a few people were checking out. I saw the line and could see why she would be overwhelmed. I needed to go to work, so I went up to her to give her my tag number. I had no expectations for her to rush to get my car since I saw how long the line was. I went up to her with a smile and said "Hi! I'd like to get my car" and she rudely said "so does everyone else". The hotel did remove the valet parking charges from my bill due to her attitude, which appreciate, but let's talk about how safe their parking is... 2) I arrived to the hotel from work on Thursday night. The valet attendant asked if I would mind if the car stayed there until I checked out the next day. He pointed to an area in front of the lobby, still on the driveway. I said that wouldn't be a problem. The next day, I don't see the car there. Well, it was parked almost a block away. It wasn't even on the hotel property. Why would a hotel charge $15 to park your car on the street where anyone can break into it? 3) Housekeeping. On my second day there, I got in from work only to find a pile of dirty sheets on the desk chair. Disgusting, but I understand mistakes happen. The next day, I asked the front desk if they could ask housekeeping to remove it. I was assured they would reach out to housekeeping. I get back to my room from work that evening and sure enough the pile of gross sheets was still there. My room was serviced but housekeeping assumed I wanted a pile of sheets in my room? How does that even make sense? 4) I finally checked out from this nightmare of a hotel on Friday. I left a hoodie in the room. I called and they told me housekeeping did not find anything. I know for a fact I left the hoodie in the room because I wear it on the plane and then keep it on the chair by the desk. It is summer time and hot, so I'm not going to wear a hoodie when I'm out of my room. I actually saw my hoodie that morning prior to checking out. It was where it had been the last 3 days...close to the disgusting pile of sheets housekeeping had left there for 2 nights. I was told I'd get a call back if the hoodie was found. 3 days go by and nothing. I called again today and they claim there was no hoodie. The worst part is that hoodie had sentimental value for me. Who steals a hoodie??? Apparently the employees at this horrible property do. I had booked a reservation 3/4 weeks each month until December at this property and cancelled them. They are unprofessional and thieves. Not to mention, they will charge you $15 to park your car on the street. read more

O M G! We brought a group of girls to celebrate their 6th grade graduation. We were given rooms facing the river so the girls could see the fireworks from 4 floors up. Beyond that, the rooms are clean and beautiful the beds comfortable. The showers are modern and luxe. The service was exceptional. Definitely the place to stay downtown. read more

The fire alarm went off 2 times during the night. The 2nd was at 330 am and lasted for about 30 min. The staff was very rude and short durning this time. The only parking they have on site is valet. They also lost our reservation even though we had a print out confirmation which caused us to not stay with our family. read more
