Stayed at this hotel for 3 nights and it was a great one. Did not explore a lot of it as only used it to sleep in and explored outdoors during the day but the front desk was very nice and helpful (they gave us some toothbrushes and scissors to use when asked), there was a water refilling station at the first floor, the beds were very comfy, and the rooms were a good size. Just note that the fridge we had in the room was quite small so maybe don't bring leftovers to the hotel. read more

Look we stay at a lot of Marriott properties. Why, because the rooms are spacious and clean. The value is evident and the staff is almost always exceptionally friendly. Almost.... I had a run in with a gal one fine morning, her name is Edith. She was rude, curt and well a few other words I won't use here. I came down for coffee. 5:45 ish I approached the Bistro counter to ask where I could get coffee. "We don't open until 6:30!" Oh I see do t you have house coffee set up out here? "What do you want just like regular drip coffee?" Um yes. "Well I don't have a till yet so you can pay at the host desk and then come back here." You don't just have any out here like complimentary? "Well you can just drink the coffee in your room!" Ok! So I walked away from what was about to get explosive!!! Sat nearby to wait . At 6:15 she started to serve others, no "hey I'm ready now" or " I can help you now" When I finally ordered my $6.07 coffee I paid in cash. I could tell by the "humph" that this annoyed her. I don't believe I have stayed at a Marriot Courtyard that did not have house coffee in the lobby! I know I have never been verbally accosted like this. Look you are in the hospitality business m, I myself have been for 45 plus years, that ain't how you do it! She should maybe pursue a different career! This doesn't fit the Marriot guidelines I am used to! Best mojito in town. I know! Crazy! I was just meeting my boyfriend and his family for his son's graduation ceremony across the way at the Convention Center and had low expectations. Honestly I just wanted to get some drink in me to deal with the combo of step family tension and graduation ceremony. But it was way better than I expected. I've stayed at several Courtyard Marriots for business and this is by fast my favorite one. Hotel is very clean and updated. It's in a great location next to the rail and many restaurants within walking distance. Staff and Service was excellent! Room: the room was small but efficient. The room included a microwave, mini fridge and coffeemaker. A large closet, with desk, single sofa bed, the bathroom included all bath and shower amenities and a hairdryer. Food/Bar: I only had breakfast here but it was delicious, I ordered the omelet with marinated tomatoes. The lobby restaurant is only open for breakfast and dinner and the bar is open nightly. I really enjoyed my stay here!! Everyone was super friendly and helpful on the check-in. The room was clean and the bed was very comfortable, I got some good sleep in here for real!! The room had a refrigerator and a microwave, which is always a huge plus for me. And even though this isn't a high rise hotel, I was on the 5th floor facing the Puget Sound and had a pretty good view. I do like how they won't clean your room unless you request it, that way you can sleep in. I also like this location in Downtown Tacoma. I'd stay here again in a minute!! read more

If you have the option to stay either at the Marriott Courtyard or the one across the street which is the Marriott Tacoma Downtown, the Courtyard is my pick! I was so bummed when I booked it because my conference hotel was the other one and I thought I was going to be missing out. But the Marriott Courtyard did not disappoint! It's walking distance from a lot of restaurants and tourist attractions. The hotel was very clean and staff was friendly. I loved being able to get coffee in the morning from their coffee station, you purchase a cup for the day. If I ever come back to Tacoma, I'm staying at the Marriott Courtyard! read more

We drove 13 hrs here just to be greeted by a front desk worker who was giving us a hard time. He (no name) didn't want to give us a room when MY name is clearly on the form!!! He search me up four times and have the nerve to say "maybe you got the other hotel instead " and he looked out across the room to where the other Marriott was at. My friend who is an employee for Marriott at a different city, booked us the room came over to get things situated had told him that my name is there on the form and she never had any other problems with other Marriott. Honestly I did not like how he made me feel like I shouldn't even be there. Despite my tiredness, nappy, rough looking image because of the long road trip. Like supposed to look rich??? To get a room here??? Overall, I had a great time bein there for three nights. We just needed a place to rest....other than that we are out by 11am and back by 12-1am. Would I come back? I do not recommend staying here. After a long journey and being up for 36 hours my fiancé and I were about to go to sleep around 8 pm when we found blood all over the sheets and it was more then clear that someone had bleed through the sheets because there were stains in the same place on two sheets. The attendants working moved our room so we could get some rest and the second room had dirty sheets again. At this point we were so exhausted that we had them change the sheets and we went to bed. The manager was absolutely useless and had no clue there was an issue until I was checking out. She refused to fix the situation and I'm now trying to contact her superiors. Bistro/Bar rating ONLY. Head Chef Kori and crew prepared a fantastic "display buffet" spread for an annual business Holiday party. Canapes and a cake-pop type of dessert were top-notch. They also had a "sweet pop-corn" mix that was fantastic. Would love to do this again for a meal meeting- our group was about 35 people. Bartenders and staff were quite pleasant. Not sure where the negative reviews are drawing their comparisons to but it seems unwarranted towards the place, my thoughts after a 10 day stay there. Room: The rooms are great, the place is listed as a 3 star hotel and I would say the rooms are above average from what I've seen in 3 star hotels. The bed was a queen with good pillows not the typical pillows that can barely support your head laying on them. The layout of the rooms is very convenient especially for those that like to work on the go, the desk is setup near the tv that swivels in all directions. I had a Mountain View room and although it faces the highway there was never an issue of noise just occasional pass of exhaust deleted car. I enjoyed the view every morning. Location: The hotel is in downtown Tacoma, the reviews that downgrade their rating because of the homeless in the area seriously need to reevaluate their thought process. Homelessness is a problem everywhere in the country and there isn't a single city that isn't dealing with a homeless issue around tourist/hotel areas. Just don't engage, avoid them and continue with your day. If you're friendly then engage, offer money or whatever and continue with your day. The hotel shouldn't be negatively reviewed because of homeless people presence in the area, the security does a great job ensuring they are not on the property. Staff: The staff there is absolutely amazing and very accommodating to all the needs our group had especially with our work day to day. Thank you to Liz, Joy, and Debbie! The housekeeping staff were accessible everyday when needed and had the rooms cleaned and restocked, they also respected when do not enter signs were up on days it wasn't needed. The bistro staff were great and set the tone from the first night how incredible their customer service was with having food set aside for our late night check in. I grabbed coffee from there every morning and the ladies were great even when a few times it was maybe 10-15 mins after the morning closing time. The front desk staff was amazing as well, with having to rework our work location and utilize the lobby area they were very accommodating to our needs and constant asks of them. Ashley, the assistant guest services manager, was amazing and consistently flexible with us throughout our stay. I know we definitely asked a lot of her and her staff and it coincided at times with busy hours from all guests at the desk and she was still always helpful to us. That is the epitome of what customer service should be and even with many thank yous I still don't feel that is enough recognition to show how appreciative we were of her during our stay. I understand the hospitality business and the long days can lead to lower morale but every interaction we had with her she always had a vibrant personality, smile and ready to help however she could. Employees like that should be recognized, valued, and appreciated for their efforts. It's encouraging to see that from those in management positions. I would've loved a manager like that when I worked in the hotel business. This is the place we'll continue to look to when we're back in the area. read more

Spent one night here. Good service, there is no parking lot - you either park the car nearby yourself in a garage they direct you to - or have the valet do it. Hotel staff were friendly and helpful. Room was clean and comfortable. Bed was a tad to soft my taste - I like a more solid mattress. Free internet access in the room, coffee maker, flat panel HD TV. Breakfast is your standard Courtyard breakfast buffet. Had a bowl of Raisin Bran with skim milk, Sausage Gravy & Biscuit, and some bacon. Sausage gravy and bacon was very good! There is also a Lobby Bar with a flat panel HD TV - went down to see if I could watch the Monday night college football game - but two old ladies had already snagged the TV to watch some Baseball game. Utterly disappointed with the initial contact I just had with the front desk agent Kylena. Especially as a Marriott Platinum Elite member I was not only shocked but appalled. Kylena deliberately created an undue delay with checking me in to the hotel. Not to mention the unnecessary stress with the improper handling of my reservation. My stay commenced with frustration by her dismissive, unfair, and otherwise unacceptable customer service. In my 20+ years as a guest I've NEVER encountered someone as belligerent as Ms Kylena. My daughter who is employed with Marriott Hotels couldn't believe the unjust treatment I received as well. read more

Absolutely the WORST experience I've ever had at a Marriott. Right off the bat the agent argued with me about the booking & what was paid for. She then grabbed her manager, Aretha who didn't even start off with a greeting but an argument.....in a room of other guests it was incredibly embarrassing. Then when I ordered my dinner, Aretha called to say she would not allow it delivered to my room. "because I can't be bothered to go over to the elevator & let them up". This has made me feel so trapped, I don't know when I'll stay at Marriott again. And it's always been one k fmy preferred chains. read more

We had a great stay there. Incredibly friendly staff, room and beds were super comfortable. What would make this place five stars for us is if they could expand their kitchen. We were there for a children's sporting event, so the hotel was full. It took 45 minutes to get breakfast and about 20 minutes to order a coffee (which was hard for the people competing in the morning who needed to eat first). The staff was hustling, but they have one small stove in the back. In spite of that, they so friendly and apologetic and accommodating. If we go back next year, we will likely stay there again. read more

The good parts of this hotel. If you're visiting your child next to the campus it is within walking distance and also close to public transportation. The hotel also has a nice view depending on your room. The rooms are ok but stayed in better Courtyard's. There is a microwave, fridge and coffee machine (coffee is terrible). The comfort is fair but gets pretty warm in the room so adjust to your liking. Be aware AC unit is extremely loud. There is a Starbucks and restaurant but we're closed due to covid. So was the pool. (Can't judge to be fair) Parking is not free no valet, it rains and parking is across the street. Be ready to get wet and to pay for your own service. Over all the service was fine, but there could be lines when checking in. Saw manager help one customer and there was still a line and then she left. I would say if you have a chance or money to stay in Bellevue or Seattle stay there. As there are more things to do. read more

What a beautiful hotel. We stayed on a weekend where there was a gymnastics competition next door at the convention center, so unfortunately they didn't have any upgraded rooms, just the standard... but I say that as if it were a problem, it most definitely was not. The room room was a basic double queen sized room, plus more. It was very spacious. We had a pretty cool view of union station directly out our window. This hotel does not offer a continental breakfast butdoes have a nice little bistro near the lobby... and as an titanium elite member we were offered 20 dollars in food vouchers for the bistro, which covered part of breakfast. (My tip for all: Sign up for Bonvoy rewards to earn membership points . They have a pool and hot tub, nothing really fancy... pool wasn't very deep but good fun for the kids. A small workout room right next to the pool also. This hotel is smack dab in the middle of it all... U ion station... convention center... hands on children's museum... lots of places to dine. My major issue was that there is No parking on hotel grounds, parking garage (you must pay for )across street and another up the hill or you can choose to valet for a few dollars more. Valet parking was amazing! Super busy weekend, parking garages were full so we decided to go that route, glad we did. Young guy working looked like maybe a high or college school kid was super attentive, quick and friendly even through the crazy crowds of people needing his service. All in all a pretty nice place to stay for a night or two! read more

If you enjoy the smell of marijuana as the air freshener when you first enter your room, then you'll love the rooms here. If you like wondering about your safety or if your room might get broken into while away or in the middle of the night, then definitely stay here. If you enjoy the staff accusing you of making up things because they don't want to take responsibility for their (lack of) action, then definitley stay here. Unbelievable. Don't book here. I booked a room 8 months in advance for Morgan wallen concert. They canceled my reservation about three months after I booked it. My bad. I didn't catch the email in my spam folder! The room was secured with a credit card. When I called the hotel directly they said they couldn't help me because it was all done my corporate reservations. I asked for that number and they said they didn't have it because they never call corporate. Are you serious???!!!!! Don't book here. Ever. read more

I stayed here when I was visiting from Oklahoma and had an amaaaazing experience. They were SO friendly and accommodating! They seriously went above and beyond to assist me with anything I needed. They even took a picture of me transferring my baby and toddler from valet to the hotel room by myself (because I asked them to haha). I loved that it was was right up the hill from the Tacoma kids museum and Pacific Grill. Everything was within walking distance which was a huge reason why I chose this hotel. We stayed two nights here ( husband and 2 kids ages 7&5) and we had the best sleep ever in our very clean oversized room. The noise level was very low for the most part. There was a kid running laps and jumping off the bed directly above us at 11pm. We made a call to the front and the situation stopped immediately. The pool was nice and warm. The hot tub was my favorite. Very clean and accommodating pool/ Rec area. The lobby was beautifully decorated for Christmas. Valet was prompt and kind, front staff was friendly. The breakfast we upgraded to was delicious. Gourmet pastries and starbucks are a great way to wake up. The kitchen staff were very kind to our kiddos and went out of their way to befriend "teddy" my 5 year olds traveling partner. Super clean cafe too. Food is decent for the price and the Samoan guy is a great bartender/barista. I think his name is Elijah- hair usually sleeker back in a short ponytail and has a tribal tattoo on his arm. My family and I ordered multiple different drinks and every single one was a hit. Excellent service & very friendly as well as professional. Much better than Starbucks and alcoholic drinks are just as good if not better than Vegas clubs (Vegas resident here). The other servers weren't as accommodating or attentive if I'm being honest. read more

The night auditor by the name of Erick with the Spanish accent (I'm Hispanic so I recognize it) was very rude, unprofessional & had his staff, a young lady transfer me to reservation as soon as I told them I had the explorer rates (Marriott Associates discount). Of course reservation couldn't book me and asked that I call back this unprofessional SOB. He said he was in a middle of an audit and will not honor the rate but would give it to me for the regular rate instead. If that was the case, WHY NOT JUST SAY THAT? Super clean, extremely well maintained hotel in a great downtown Tacoma neighborhood. A $47 Uber ride from SeaTac airport, this hotel makes a great cost-savings option, priced a couple hundred bucks lower than it's Seattle area neighbors. Just as important, the staff seem to take pride in their work, and the property shows it. The bathroom was spotless, well stocked, large and well set up. The bed was perfectly comfortable, and the heavy room door kept out hallway noise. A friendly staff member (young lady from Hawaii) at check in was helpful and welcoming, and really set the tone for a flawless stay. For check in, recommend the Commerce Street entrance. For breakfast, walk a few blocks to Honey Cafe, where delicious yet affordable brunch items, coffees and pastries make the short uphill walk totally worth the cardio. read more

It's convenient being right off the freeway. It's walking distance to some of the nicer places. There's a Starbucks across the street. The rooms were clean and spacious, but it's pretty noisy. You can hear everything going on in the hallways from your room. The place didn't have that hotel disinfectant smell, so it gets points for that. Negative points for the valet service, of which I had to go get my own car from the parking lot AND they didn't get me the pass key to get out of the lot! I had to walk two blocks to get my own car and then call the hotel for them to open up the gate to drive out of the lot. Quite the service offering! read more

Pros- - Clean, modern rooms - Netflix on the TV in the room - Comfortable bed - Quiet Cons- - Expensive hotel restaurant - Rigid check-in policies In general, this was a nice hotel to visit. Clean rooms, linens, etc.. It was quiet even though I was close to the elevator. Convenient location, etc.. The issue I had was when checking in and out. When checking in, they asked for a personal credit card for incidentals. This was a work visit for me and I was reluctant to provide that information. The room and parking had already been paid by work. When I contested this and asked if I could place a cash deposit, the representative turned and spoke to her supervisor in Spanish. He reinforced he statements and they said they could not check me in without a credit card on file for incidental items. The funny part is there is only $6 worth of "incidental" items in the room. Two bottles of water. In any case, I eventually agreed to provide my credit card. When checking out I asked for a copy of my receipts. The room receipt and my "incidental" receipt. The incidental receipt showed a $17 charge for valet parking which had already been paid by my work. In the big picture, providing a credit card and having a billing error isn't a big deal. But when you are the Marriott, I expect more. read more

The Courtyard in Tacoma is a nice place. I suspect I have probably given most Courtyard hotels 3 stars, but this location impressed me with the professionalism and enthusiasm of the staff. It seems like a pretty new, very clean and well outfitted place. I know some other locations I've been to seem like lipstick-on-a-pig where they've tried putting some easy upgrades on an older building to try and make it appear newer or nicer, but the oldness shines through in the cleanliness and maintenance. Not here - my impression was this was a very nice, new hotel. I chose to stay here the night before flying out of SEATAC because the hotels around SEATAC all wanted upwards of $243+ for the night, and the Courtyard here in Tacoma was only $117. I figured leaving at 5:30 a.m. on a Friday morning would be fine to get me to the airport by 6. Boy was I surprised at the seemingly rush-hour traffic jam at 5:30 a.m. going north toward Seattle. So allow yourself some extra time to drive to the airport if you're following in my footsteps. Self-parking here is $12 and valet is $17. I paid the extra $5 for the valet and asked them to have the car out front for me for my 5:30 a.m. departure. They had it ready and waiting for me to leave first thing in the morning. It was worth the extra $5 for the valet. read more

Lasr night we stayed in room 1424. 14th floor. corner master unit with an almost panoramic view of Commencement Bay, Mt Rainier, downtown and Brown's Point. that was the good part. The room felt like a warehouse. only one heat vent in a huge space. The bed was old and we sank to the middle. The room service food was poor quality and comes in a paper bag (for real). We are a married couple sharing the same last name. I booked through my Priceline account using my husband's credit card. They therefore had both of our first names and our last name is the same. The room had one bathrobe, one set of towels, one chair. The television turns on with "Welcome" and references my husband only. We had to wait for extra towels and bathrobe almost missing our evening departure on our Christmas Ship cruise. No extra blanket to be found in room, heater almost non-existent... after the cruise we had to call room service for an extra comforter. Though the view was gorgeous, everything else was a 2 star hotel. Also, at 7:15 a.m. housekeeping will call on your phone to wake you up and then bang on your door at 8:55 a.m. to ask when you are leaving. The place... overall was substandard.to say the least! Construction work started Saturday morning at 6:30am. Yes the jackhammering began at 6:30 on a Saturday morning!!! There was no notification from the hotel staff at check-in or when I was making the reservation that the surrounding areas were under construction/road closures. This property needs lots of upgrades - multiple keys for doors/elevator/room access. Additionally the linens were definitely not the standard one would expect from Marriott. Way too thin and not absorbent at all. One positive was the staff - everyone was very nice and welcoming. read more

Great service especially in the bar area/restaurant area. Jenny was amazing taking care of us for a few nights. Nice workout area as well. Definitely recommend this place. read more
