Standard Hampton Inn. Easy to check in and check out. Staffs were very friendly. We stopped here for just a single night. Checked in late and checked out in the morning. Haven't used any amenities other than the breakfast area. Very nice Rooms - comfortable beds and pillows. Stay was very smooth and relaxing after a long drive. The breakfast was decent - pretty standard options for a Hampton. Staffs at the breakfast area were very friendly. The parking was full by the time we reached. Had to park at the back - very lucky to find one to be fair. Decent experience overall. read more

Everything was very clean and spacious. When my mom offhandedly mentioned "having the kids with her" for our trip, the lady at the front desk offered to move us closer to the pool no questions asked. Then she had to explain we were all infact teens lol. All to say, the staff is kind, place is clean, hot tub is amazing, and overall I would recommend. read more

In a pinch they were able to secure about 25 rooms for me and my party of travelers. They were definitely overwhelmed with a bus of us pulling up with no notice but the front desk and management were more than helpful getting us sorted out. So considering they seem to be doing a lot of updates im going to overlook the missing bulb and toilet paper holder falling off. The staff were an absolute delight and friendly they made the stay 100% worth it. (Give them a raise if you havent recently). Thomas amd Shelby were notable as being beyond helpful. The storage units out front make finding the front a bit of a challange like you were going through a post apocolyptic barracade and you can tell some of the remodeling was rushed and detailed work was missed. Our experience here is so amazing parking was a bit hard but our room was amazing I was so happy to see we had an icebox and a microwave the bed omg best bed I ever slept in so relaxin and comfy. And I love that the shower come with shampoo conditioner and lotion and big bottles too. My fav was the free breakfest every morning I love all the choices we had to eat . I've been to three Hampton Inns since January and this is by far the warmest. The people who work here are super, duper nice and I really appreciated it. The other two were colder, and as I have more experience, I will need to redo the reviews for fewer stars. We came early and were able to get snacks at their little store, and I procured more during our visit, something that I never do. They had the standard breakfast, which I don't go to because it's a bunch of food that I really can't eat much of, so why bother. I can get better-quality potatoes and bacon elsewhere. And somehow, eggs kept being dropped in the potatoes and I hate eggs. The main issue is that they aren't near anything. They also had a situation with fencing around the outside, which made it hard to get in or out, except through one area, however, the Uber and LYFT drivers were being sent to another driveway. The main problem was with the key on my app. It sometimes didn't work. I had to reload the app. My room key kept getting demagnetized, that that was including on the trip from the lobby to our second-floor room. We had to have it remagnetized twice in one day on two occasions. I was told that it was because it was near my phone, it wasn't. The second time, it was possible that it was near my other credit cards. Where should I put my room key, if not in my wallet? That made no sense to me. We were there for six nights and seven days. We were supposed to get a cleaning on day five, but we didn't and we needed towels. I left on Wednesday and expected to come back to a clean room, but we didn't. Then on Thursday, someone came by and knocked, I answered and he apologized and said that he'd come back the next day (the day we were leaving), not good. So I went downstairs to order them and brought them upstairs myself. I would've told him myself, but he took off so fast and I wasn't dressed so... The one thing they could have used was a second chair in the room. I had to go downstairs and use the office space, however, once inside, I didn't want to leave because I wasn't sure if my key would work if I left my stuff in there and I needed to go back in. Especially since I didn't see someone at the front desk or in the back office. So, I was held hostage in the cold office because I didn't want to drag all of my stuff upstairs to get a warm coat, and the reason I was in there was because my husband was sitting in one chair and we didn't have a second one. It didn't make sense for him to sit further from the TV to watch it, which meant that he would have to turn it up more, etc. I did learn here that I needed to use my phone to use the elevator. I didn't have to do that in Patterson or Merced, although that could have been the reason why I was stuck in the elevator that one time. However, that only happened once. Again, the four stars is because of the awesome staff, but because they are so far from anything decent, I probably won't stay here again. But if they were to build this up a bit, that may be worth a visit. read more

Shiloh, the front office manager at Hampton Inn, rescued us when the hotel next door did NOT provide us with a roll-in shower that we had made reservations for. Thankfully, they had one at the Hampton Inn and Shiloh helped us out quickly and made sure we were taken care of. The breakfast was good and the facility was clean. Mostly clean inside, but bad neighborhood. Like real bad. Upon check in, they say housekeeping is upon request only. No "do not disturb" sign to put out in the room, but housekeeping breaks in and cleans up aside from what they tell you at the desk. Not a fan of that. Front desk is hit or miss. Some are nice, some haven't a hint of interest in helping you with anything. They are typically hiding in the back, talking it up on the phone within earshot. You either have to have housekeeping staff summon them or shout loud enough over their phones if you don't want to stand around for 30mins+. A woman was harassed in the parking lot during our stay, solicited by a drug addicted man trying to stay in her room with her. Unfortunately, this is really one of the only hotels in Tacoma, and possibly your best option (not saying much) judging by the looks of the one or two others I saw. So pick your poison, I imagine none are that great. read more

Definitely a sketchy part of town. Make sure you lock your vehicles just in case. Homeless have surrounded the area and the doors are locked at all times to avoid squatters. Staff were somewhat friendly. Breakfast was the same meal every deal; scrambled eggs and sausage or egg white frittatas and bacon. No difference in a week there. The danishes were expired and the one I grabbed was moldy. I've stayed at busier Hamptons and they still offered better pairings for breakfast. The gym was just ok. It had the basic stuff, but nothing newer. For instance, the elliptical was older and didn't move as easily and the treadmill slipped often. The pool was okay, but the hot tub was lukewarm and the jets didn't work. People also often walked from the pool to the elevators wet, so it was frequently full of large puddles. Comfortable room with plenty of room for our crew (accessible room was the right choice for our needs). Pool is inside, heated and plenty big enough for the whole family. Breakfast was so-so: some items looked quite unappetizing, like the turkey sausage, but the egg frittatas and waffles were dependable. The staff is very polite and helpful. Also, the hotel takes safety to the next level with all doors and the elevator being keycard activated. This is helpful given the increase in unhoused individuals in Tacoma and surrounding neighborhoods. I would stay here again and recommend it. read more

Parking is undersized by far and they allow large utility and commercial trucks to take up 2-3 spots. Park them on the street! They also ran out of milk by 9am on a Thursday when there was an hour left for breakfast. Send someone to the grocery store and fix the problem. As a Silver member, I was not greeted or thanked for being a valued member. Maybe things have changed. This hotel had no decent channels, no free water for Silver members. This was a pretty standard Hampton Inn with little to write home about except for the very comfortable beds. After seeing a weeknight show at the Tacoma Dome it was necessary to find lodging nearby. Sadly, there is a giant tent city adjacent to the hotel with lots of trash strewn about. It was an uneventful stay but it wasn't bad. I'm not a fan of the breakfast at Hampton Inns so I did not even go check it out. Parking was full in front so we had to park by the back door. read more

Trashiest Hampton ever! I would highly recommend anyone to find somewhere else to stay unless you like living in homeless camps with trash everywhere. If so it's the place for you. It's disgusting and I would take stars away if possible. This place is the epitome and embodiment of gross. I tried to cancel after seeing the abysmal conditions and they charged my credit card anyway. I spoke with the general manager to get my money back and she just said it's not their policy and that was that. After complaining to the parent company about the hotel and their policy of not giving you money back for feeling unsafe. They all just decided not to respond anymore. The first two floors (of four) are under construction currently. It looks like a long-term bare walls renovation. Half the parking lot is occupied by shipping containers and trucks. The elevators are draped in furniture pads and duct tape. The front desk reports the 3rd and 4th floor will be done later, date TBD. If the local transient population were any closer, they'd be sleeping on top of the spear-point steel fence finials. They have a queen sized pillow-top mattress and a sofa right across the fence and congregate throughout the day despite the presence of the security guard in his marked patrol car. No joke, one just walked by me in a Halloween mask as I typed this out sitting in my car. It is January. (See photo of sofa and mattress) This neighborhood has a questionable reputation. One of my coworkers had her car damaged by gunfire at the hotel just south of here on the same street about a few blocks down. Staff has been friendly and attentive lately, so I still gave them three stars. Definitely better than a Motel. As other reviewers noted, the rooms that are operating during renovation definitely need an update. Mold on bathtubs and toilets occasionally. Shower heads and valves that leak or won't stay adjusted occasionally. Hot water runs low around 6AM and 10PM. Stains on a lot of furniture that seem....suggestive? They have a mini mart with limited snacks, drinks, and essentials. Elevators and perimeter doors require keycard access or digikey. Parking lot is known to fill up later in the evening even before half of it was used for the renovation, so arrive early. A couple local interesting restaurants went in on Hosmer lately that are worth trying, check their Yelps and you'll know which are good. Definitely do not walk there. I have. I will not do so again. The TVs are small, but an upside of being a little older is no modern security lockout of the HDMI ports for XBox/etc. read more

All in all, I'm glad I chose this hotel. The homelessness crisis is affecting this neighborhood, but you can't control that. The hotel felt secure (key activated elevators and spaces, etc), though the parking lot did not (the big signs about not being responsible for any problems made me wonder if it was safe to leave my car there at all). The room was clean and the bed was fine, though there were odd signs of age (a lot of rust on the metal door frame stood out against an otherwise clean bathroom) and lack of care (weird/gross stains on room desk chair made me just not want to use it at all). Walls sounded thin. Temperature control worked well. Coffee in the room was instant throw-away garbage that I wished was better. Coffee in lobby much better. Staff helpful and friendly. read more

The rate was reasonable, and the staff was friendly and helpful. This review is mainly what happens when you booked through hotels.com. They claimed that I am getting 50% off. When I got here, I asked them what are the rates. They quoted me the exact same rate that I got from hotels.com. I actually paid more because I could have used AAA and got an additional 10% discount. I will never use hotels.com again. I will only use them to find hotels in areas I'm not familiar with and then book directly. read more

This place has supplies laid out all over the place. Reminds me of a building 1 month away from grand opening or a Home Depot. Parking gets full at night. Scary place. Drive into a battle zone, behind high fence security, zombies and scary people outside the fence... just hoping they stay outside when the sun sets.. Room in poor state. Bathroom supports on the wall of disabled room came right off the wall with barely a touch. What the H?!?! If I were disabled, I would have been down on the ground unable to get up. How can a disabled room have supports that give way like that?!?! Like a booby trap. Many broken parts all around. What happened to Hampton? Typical Hampton Inn & Suites. Great service, nice rooms, decent breakfast. The hotel is still under renovations as there were signs posted, but the gym was open so I was happy about that...and there was no noise during the renovations. The only real negative I could say is that there were a lot of homeless people hanging around outside the property lines of the hotel. The other negative is that the chairs in the lobby area were disgusting as they were stained and ripped. Other than that it was a decent stay. read more

Do not stay here during their "light renovation" which started late summer of 2019. They do not have enough parking spaces and parking on the street does not appear to be safe with the transients. Even worse they closed 2 stairwells, and the front desk workers were unaware of which stairwells were closed. Please see my photos so you can understand why this is a potential safety hazard. The front desk was extremely professional and very accommodating by moving me to the first floor, which I appreciated. I'm sure once the renovation is finished it will be lovely, the rooms have all been modernized, bathrooms updated, and besides the closed stairways and 4th floor hallway the hotel was very clean. However a hotel with one elevator and 2 closed/partially locked stairwells freaks me out and makes me wonder about other maintenance and safety issues that are not obvious to see. Having stayed at other Hilton properties recently during renovations, pdx and Olympia, I was very disappointed in staging of this project. AND THEN AT 11:20pm THE FIRE ALARM WENT OFF! This is a passable Hampton Inn & Suites if you find that you NEED to be in Tacoma for anything. I was here for a week to assist a colleague and I don't hope to have to return for anything anytime soon. It looks like a remodel was just recently completed here so that is the nicest part. The room was very clean and spacious (King Studio Suite). Breakfast was a Hampton breakfast. Nothing to write home about. Hampton does still have the best beds in the business traveler class game though! I always sleep like a baby - which is a miracle judging by the area surrounding this hotel. I stayed here while visiting Tacoma. It's a nice hotel in a not so nice neighborhood. When I arrived there was a car in the parking lot that had it rear window broken out. Then you have to be buzzed in though the front door to check in. Room number layout was strange. My room was on the first floor but about as far away from the front door as could be. Had to walk all the way done the hall and around this court yard off the pool area to get to the room. It had no view but two large windows that looked a wood fence. read more

The Hampton Inn + Suites Tacoma is a fantastic place to stay, and I should know. I work for the local tourism bureau. I visit a LOT of hotels in my region. I talk with managers and staff, test the beds, try their coffee, and take in the overall experience. This hotel has the most comfortable beds in Tacoma, period. They call it their "Cloud Nine" experience. This alone warrants the property at least 4 stars. But their customer service is second to none as well: not merely courteous and prompt, every single staff member smiles at you and takes and interest in how you're doing. First time at a Hampton hotel and didn't know what to expect. Arrive LATE and the lady at the front desk gave us an upgraded room. A suite--has a small fridge, microwave, and sink area, and a small couch, flatscreen, king-sized bed, nice size bathroom area. Many people don't think about it, but they emphasize how they wash their covers and sheets. Sheets, I would expect to be washed, but not many hotels, if any, wash their duvets. So, this is pretty refreshing. The indoor, heated pool was wonderful. No guests were ever there so it was nice to be able to do short laps. There was also a nice jacuzzi. Small pool towels were provided as well. There was a fitness room with dumbbells, treadmill, elliptical. The side doors and the elevators required a card key for entry, which was good for security. It was quiet and I really like that. Although this probably doesn't happen often, there was one night where a homeless? guy was outside of the window yelling at himself in the parking lot behind this Chinese restaurant next to the hotel. He may have been high or something, but it was enough to keep me awake for about 10 minutes. Overall, I would definitely stay here as well read more

I stayed here for a business trip. It's in a rough neighborhood. They do a nice job of fencing the parking lot off and putting video cameras out. Everything is key carded. I stayed her on three separate weeks. I was about three nights into my stay last week when I woke up with a bed bug. I pulled the sheets back and there was another one. I started looking closer at the bed and found evidence that they have been there a while. I pretty much left in pajamas and had to urgently wash all my belongings and put them in high heat. I didn't see any in my belongings but it's important to take precautionary steps. I have some expensive clothes so very unhappy about having had to put some things through high heat. The hotel clerk apologized and comped my stay. It really was not good service in my opinion. My work pays for my stay so it's not doing me any favor to comp my room. I lost sleep, piece of mind etc over the incident. I think the worst is I have status and the manager didn't even bother to call me. I'm planning to escalate through Hilton. I don't know if they care but they should have some kind of preventive inspection process at the hotel by now. Ridiculous. read more

This place has real challenges and i had stayed here at least fifty nights. I will never be back as the DuPont location or Puyallup is just safer! There is now a homeless camp next to the hotel and your greater is behind bullet proof glass. Funny thing to me was that my issue was related to a fire alarm going off in the room at 3am and the only solution was to cut my sleep in half. Sorry but why did i pay for a hotel room. 6 MILITARY MEMBERS' VEHICLES BROKEN INTO IN 1 NIGHT! DO NOT stay at this hotel. There are homeless camps surrounding the place, they have probably a dozen cameras on the outside of the hotel, yet they aren't good enough quality to catch the license plate or faces of two guys that pull into the parking lot in a truck. They had nothing obstructing the license plate and no masks, and you still can't make anything out. They also have "security".. He drives through the parking lot once every hour or so and then signs his book in the lobby and moves on. This hotel is an absolute joke. I stayed here 6 nights and there were cops there two of the nights. Of course, they have signs up saying "Users assume all risk" so the six of us that had our windows smashed and military gear stolen are just SOL. Also, let's not forget that this is NOT even close to the first time this has happened to our members. We have had break ins every time we've had members staying there this year! Steer clear of this hotel! Their management is either ignorant or just really doesn't care to protect their customers that much. read more

Worst Hampton Inn experience to date. We normally always stay at Hampton Inn hotels when myself and children travel, however this location just dosent cut it. Hotel itself was clean and nice, the front desk worker was very pleasant. However it's located in a scary part of town with a ton of homeless folks. Has a massive gate around the property and was informed to take all valuables out of car before leaving it unattended. I travel with my two children and have never felt so unsafe at a Hampton Inn prior to this one. Was advised They have 24 hour security that has to manage the property due to theift and brake ins. (But was told ALL of Tacoma was just BAD). The hotel has a super strange layout! Long crazy hallways, it's an extreme hike to get to the rooms on second floor so much that we got lost finding it. It was so far away from everything we wanted like ice machine, elevators and getting to the pool downstairs. Room was the smallest double queen we had ever seen from a Hampton, it was such a tight fit for three people. Not to mention they have a super nice new flat screen TV but once we turned it on no channels worked! Staff came to check it out and basically said nothing they could do it's probably the cable and would be down throughout the whole hotel. For the amount I was going to get charged for this stay we decided it wasent at all worth it to tough it out and feel unsafe so we asked for a refund and checked out about thirty mins from checking in. We ended up getting a very wonderful hotel booked last minute at the best western for less money, a better location that we felt more then safe at, huge nice clean room and everything worked!! read more

WORST! The Hampton Inn has always been a preferred hotel for our family. Now I will give any Hampton Inna second or third thought before booking. My husband booked two adjoining rooms via BookingBug as I was going to a concert with my daughter and her friends. I called 5 days before our check-in day to make sure the rooms were adjoining. I was told they only had a reservation for 1 room. Fine - I booked another and made sure they were side-by-side (my daughter and her friends are 11) that we would get a cot, etc.... Upon check-in, I discover that my call was pointless as they did not have 2 rooms booked for me. Fortunately I was able to grab a room on the spot and they said they were across from each other. well, the rooms were down the freaking hall and around a corner from one another. In addition, The original room was booked by my husband who was not attending the event. They told me that he had to come in personally and check me in. As we do not live there that was a problem. I had them call my husband who told them to check me in in no uncertain terms. The next morning I went down to the desk to request a 30 minute extension on our checkout. NO one was there so I turned and went to breakfast. I was then told to leave the breakfast room as they were closing in 2 minutes. There was still no one at the desk. Around 11:30 I made my way to the desk again about the late checkout and was told that I should have asked in advance. By this time, I was "hangry" and was not having it. I told them I would be out of their hotel at 12:30pm - -30 minutes after check out and they could easily work around that. Then, my hotel key cards for both rooms stopped working - before 12 noon! Thus, we ALL had to go down to fix this problem...then, they still did not work and the maid told me to go down to the front desk...SMH... Now that I am several days out of the stay (thank goodness!) - they charged my debit card for 3 rooms! Upon calling, I was told the manager would not be in until tomorrow and that I could leave a voice mail. I left a voice mail - although I doubt she will call back...as I already left her a voice mail Monday...that was never returned. So - now I must go through my bank to dispute one of the charges.
