Nice, clean, quiet rooms. Pool and whirlpool spa were excellent. Staff was friendly and helpful. Internet was provided by ibahn, which I foundt o be a little too slow for my tastes. At check in, they informed me only had rooms in building w/ non- working elevator. Told them needed elevator or ground floor room. Sd only 1 ground floor room available, but when I went to room, sliding door broken, can't lock. Called front desk to get another room, they said would call back w/ new room. Never called! Had to call them back, they offered me 3rd floor room in bldg w/ working elevator- originally said no rooms available?! Liars!! What a waste of time! Worst front desk svc ever! read more

I hate to complain because the price we paid was great for a holiday weekend. The hotel was nice and clean too! When we checked in they were very abrupt. I do like that they asked if we wanted to be on the first floor or not. The free wifi was nice, it would just be good if they went over everything during check in, Rather than "Here are your keys, your rooms over that way." Okay, so we settle down. Didn't plan on spending much time there anyways. I came back one night and was looking for a box we had gotten. I left this on the floor in the room. There were things in it and it was not near a trash can. However, the maids felt that it was trash and threw it away. I had important papers in there and that it why I only gave them three stars. Why are you throwing things away that aren't yours? I could see if I had left them there after check out, my fault but I didn't, it was in the middle of our stay. read more

We checked in Saturday around 2:30 into 2 adjoining rooms on the 3rd floor . Upon entering the rooms, both smelled strongly of musty mildew and our room of cigarettes. We tried to click on the air conditioning unit, but the heater would only come on. The heater smelled horribly of a burning mildew smell in both rooms. When we tried to get the air to kick on by lowering the temp to 68, the burning heater would only stay on in our room. The other room smelled of cold mold and mildew. Both myself and my two sons are highly allergic to mold. I immediately called the front desk, but no other rooms were available. I expressed my concern as I am allergic to mold, and the front desk said they would have maintenance come. My son also found hair in his bed and on the pillow, so we requested to have sheets changed. Upon returning later in the evening, the air units were still not fixed. There is mold build up in the air and heating units. I could not sleep and had trouble with the mold levels in the room and had to open the slider and then we froze all night and got no sleep. In addition to these major issues, there were several other issues that should be addressed that made our stay even more unpleasant. The shower temperature knob was not working properly. If you turned it to hot, it was scalding. If you moved it even a millimeter to lower the hot to a more comfortable temperature, it would go right to lukewarm/cold. The king bed in our room sagged and was rock hard. wifi is very poor on the 3rd floor. The elevator was in major need of repair with paint peeling off, stains, and a filthy floor See pics of elevator and room. Needless to say, we were extremely disappointed and upset with our stay. I followed up with the hotel several times and finally got an email back from the general manager who did nothing and offered nothing but a few minimal points. Money is not the issue but it is the principle and she offered nothing. Will not be staying at any other Marriott properties as the service is much higher at Hilton and Hyatt. Disappointing. Very dated. Each room has a wall unit for heat and air conditioning. I could NOT get my room cool. I called maintenance and they told me the room is at the coldest temperature the hotel allows which is 65 degrees, however, the thermostat in my room showed it was 68. I was told the thermostat is not showing the accurate temperature. The room was never cool. The first day I am there i leave the room at 9:30 am and return at 3:30pm. The room was not clean!! I do NOT recommend you stay here. Disappointing for Marriott. read more

Nice folks and a nice lobby. The hotel is clean. But the mattresses are like hammocks! Where is that famous Marriott comfort I've gotten used to? My back hurt all day the next day. Glad it was only one night. Would not stay here again. Wifi was slow and kept cutting out, too. I cannot speak highly enough about Dolores Penetrante and the great staff at the front desk and Bistro. They were friendly, accommodating and helpful in orienting us to the area. I personally love that they have a great selection in their mini store. This is a nice hotel situated in a great location, close to shops and great food. Although my folks and I were there for a short time, it was still enjoyable and relaxing. Thank you again Dolores for your impressive service. Going above and beyond is rare these days and this hotel makes you feel very welcome. Highly recommend this property! read more

I parked my car at the east side of the hotel closest to my room and during my last night there my car was broken into and there were no surveillance camera to be able to identify the perpetrator. My car only had a few items stolen nothing over $20 because I never leave anything of value in my car. I did notice that 3 of my work badges for the hospital were stolen and a backpack from wish was taken that I use to hold personal hygiene items when I go to work. After reporting the incident to the police, the officer reported that there had already been multiple occurrence of theft prior to mine and nothing has been done by the hotel since each report by every victim. read more

Clean enough in room. House keeping needs more Kleenex. Can here noise above you and below plus if you face Courtyard you here talking why you are trying to sleep late at night. Squeaky clean and I like it! I usually don't like hotels because I am paranoid of cleanliness, however the moment I stepped into the room it was bright, fresh and clean! My only problem was that the lobby smelled due being open floor plan right next to the Bistro. It was smelly, not in a bad way but if walls was up it would be better. Also I forgot Courtyard is always noisy. You can hear everyone! Oh well the heater was loud enough to create a white noise. read more

One of the best Marriott's I've stayed at. They have a beautiful courtyard with pool, fireplace, etc. While you have to pay for breakfast, it is above par with average hotel fare. Rooms were cleaned well. The lobby is hip, new, and clean. read more

I stayed here for 4 nights on a business trip. Had the free breakfast option so that itself was a good deal. The room was nice and clean. I have two complaints though. One of the nights I had a noisy neighbor across from me. It was about 2 in the morning and my assumption was that he just got back from a bar or nightclub because he had at least 3 people go with him in the room. For about 15 minutes they were shooting the breeze and it was keeping me up so I called the front desk. This guy answered and said he would take care of it. 15 minutes later these idiots are still making noise. I called down again and spoke to the same guy. Finally after about an hour after the first call, the noises were gone. FAIL. It shouldnt take an hour to take care of a noise problem. Second complaint is that the ibahn "high speed internet" is not "high speed" at all. I tried watching netflix through my xbox 360 and it kept on pausing about every 5 minutes so it can buffer the speed to catch up. Also, any time I wanna play COD online that was a complete fail. Last time I had that kind of lag was when I was using dial up! No wonder why it was free cuz its as slow as a turtle! FAIL. read more

Clean hotel, and the air is cooler and cleaner than most of Southern California. Safety is OK, but nothing is in walking distance, so you will need a car. 5 minute drive to major shopping mall and a park; 10 minute drive gets you to Mitsuwa Market, or the Redondo Beach Riviera area near the beach, or Gardena, or the small Torrance airport (no commercial aircraft) 15 minutes gets you to Palos Verdes, Redondo Beach Pier, (Torrance blvd), and a huge community of medical centers clustered around Providence Little Company of Mary Hospital. Staff are friendly and helpful - front desk and food service. The lobby is very pretty and new. The food is not great, so so at best - but Torrance has many great restaurants within a short drive. My favorites are: for goodies: Kings Hawaiian, Cafe TLJ (Korean/French) for Japanese: Anywhere near Mitsuwa market. English not required for fish: I like Tonys on the RB Pier, which is literally on top of the ocean for Cafe: if you want to see the beach while you sit and relax, the closest is Carissimo, but the best - if it's not foggy - is Starbucks at the end of Hawthorne from which the view of the ocean is wider than 180 degrees. read more

The pictures looked better than it actually is. I mean we got a pretty good deal on it but anything beyond that, better find a better option. Their cafe is a little pricey and the coffee they provide in the room is actually pretty good. The room did have a "can't put my finger on it" kinda smell. read more

I used to stay here for business before COVID and loved it, but not so much for this visit. I have to start by saying the woman who checked me in was extremely friendly and professional, but it's all downhill from there. I came back to the hotel at about 11:30 PM and there were at least 6 police vehicles surrounding the building. I eventually approached one as he was getting his AR out of the back of his car to ask him if it was safe to go to my room. He assured me that the problem was on the first floor and that I should be fine on the 3rd floor. I finally get to my room exhausted and the whole room smells like weed with loud music coming from next door. I didn't feel like I could call the front desk as obviously they had a situation going on. The next morning, room still smells like weed, the shower is filthy. Wall plastered with long black hairs and more. Needless to say the place now makes my skin crawl and I will never be back. read more

I've always had a good experience with the Courtyard Marriott hotels. This was no different.

So this is not the nicest Marriott in the chain. This Marriott is in Torrance, not Palos Verdes. But for the price, it's is pretty darn good. The lobby must have been redone recently. It is very modern and nice. There is a large touch screen monitor (the size of a large LCD TV) which is connected to the internet and you can use it like a tablet to check out the weather or look up restaurants. The lobby atmosphere is very nice. I wouldn't mind hanging out here in the evening. The rooms are typical of any Marriott hotel room, nicely appointed. So if I had business in Torrance, I would certainly come back here again. read more

This property is namedTorrance/Palos Verdes, and that's where it ends. It is at least 5 miles from the edge of Palos Verdes. Less cameo cities such as Lomita are a lot closer. Don't expect much from this property whose great reputation 10 years ago is now tarnished with unacceptable service from young and inexperienced desk personnel, short on communication and problem solving. If you have issues with your room, they'll agree to change it, but don't count on it. You'll wait beyond your patience, until you realize you've gotten the runaround.. Did you book your reservation from an on-line hotel site? You'll have less value than corporate guests, so some courtesies and amenities may go unanswered. Personnel won't mind taking your time, while they get paid for theirs. Want to glance at the time? You won't see on the antique digital clock by your bedside. Want to keep your wine or your lunch cold? Barely chilly with the antique mini-frig that has no controls or a mini-freezer. Nothing better on the property! Ditto for the antique phone by your bedside. Only 1 per room! How about sleeping on wavy bed sheets too large for the mattress and won't stay put! That's all they have! Want a manager? Forget it on weekends. Upper management won't be on site for weeks attending important things like training and holiday luncheons. I don't exaggerate. Don't come here for more than 2 nights at $89 or less. It just isn't worth any more! read more

I could not have asked for better service from this hotel. I checked into my room and it smelled like smoke. I called the front desk and one of the mangers, Chelsea, came to check the room. She said she thought that it was actually very heavy cleaning product that can have the same reaction as smoke in your lungs if you are sensitive. She opened another room for me which had no smell. She personally went downstairs herself to replace my key and came back up with a bottle of Pellegrino as well. Super friendly, great customer service, and the room was spotless. My girlfriend and I just booked this hotel last weekend. We were attending a wedding and needed a nice clean,comfortable place to stay for the evening. This Marriott was just that! They accommodated a early check-in for us. The staff was very helpful and friendly, especially the front desk agent, who i believe was named Brenda! When we arrived to our room we very pleased with the cleanliness and the room setup. After a small issue with our A/C i called down,and a friendly maintenance worker arrived within 5 minutes,and put a new battery in our thermostat which fired our A/C back up. Overall a great stay and we would go back again. Whether your a business traveller or just a leisure guest, i would give this place the thumbs up! read more

My husband had planned a surprise anniversary weekend (Labor Day Weekend) for us, we chose this location because it's close to where we actually live to check on our pets. This misadventure started at check-in, rude, untrained staff. My husband went in person to get the room, gave his credit card in person and told me to go check in and wait for him. Easy enough (you'd think). That didn't happen. He had to leave work to come back and show them his credit card again! What? I book travel for my work and know this is not the proper procedure. I'm so mad at this point I don't even want to stay, but I went with it. So, I finally make it to the room, which is fairly nice. Next day is breakfast (part of the package). We wanted to get down to the beach to surf early so we were the first people there, they were late opening, menu looked and sounded delicious (looked and sounded is way different than real life) My husband had turkey sausage and eggs-sausage was something for Fear Factor, fake eggs and the crispest country potato I've ever had, mine was a small Healthy muffin kind of deal that was a tad small but tasty.-I know businesses are doing their best to make a good value for customers while still making a decent profit but skimping on breakfast like this makes me wonder who in the company actually tested this... No good. We had a great time only because I'm married to a pretty cool guy and he has a way of making things great even when I'm only seeing the bad. Disappointingly run down, grimy carpets, broken luggage cart that is hard to push, and on and on. The tub is peeling and my 2 year old got a paint chip splinter in her big toe from the tub floor! It was bleeding when I pulled out the splinter- poor thing. Do not order their "Starbucks" coffee- my husband was charged $3.60 for a grande iced coffee and she put in so much creamer that you couldn't even taste the coffee. They used to have free hot coffee in the lobby every morning- I stayed here before about 3 years ago...and everything was cleaner and nicer- not sure what's going on with this hotel but it's a good thing I only paid $99 for the night or I would be giving this place 1 star. read more

The decor is beautiful and everything is really clean and organized. Very comfortable beds. The courtyard is great, beautiful to spend the afternoon enjoying the weather or swimming. This was my first time staying here............. and it will be my last. When I booked the hotel, the description read that I would have a private balcony. When I arrived there was a screen door that led out to the parking lot. No "private balcony" in sight. When I ran out of toiletries, I called the front desk and had no answer....... for over an hour. The bathroom had no fan. The room's main light flickered. I was so tired of calling the front desk that I just gave up and got through the rest of my stay there. What I will say is that the room was big and the bed was comfortable but unfortunately, the few PROS could not overshadow the many CONS. I will not be staying here again. read more

Me and my girlfriend were to fly into LAX to start a massive road trip across the state. We wanted a place to stay overnight before we started our journey. We chose this Courtyard because we wanted something really nice for a good price, I think it was like $120 for the night? We got there super late and the staff was very friendly and we quickly went to bed. The next morning we woke up early and spent the morning at the pool and hot tub. It was very quiet and relaxing and afterwards we had plenty of options for breakfast in the area. We left for our road trips very refreshed. Stayed for a weekend getaway, we were greeted by friendly staff. Our bed was very comfortable and our room was very clean. We enjoyed the heated pool and a nice clean gym. The grounds here are well kept and beautiful lot of different areas on grounds to relax and enjoy a good book. I love that they serve Starbucks on site and have great wifi connection, great location Target store a block away near restaurants. We will definitely stay here again. read more
