Bland but an absolutely incredible location just across from the booming Union Market area. There's also a Peet's, Five Guys, Korean taco spot, 7-Eleven, Trader Joe's, and Harris Teeter grocery store within an easy 5-7 minute walk. My room was on the 5th floor overlooking the Amtrak and Metro tracks but the windows were pretty well soundproofed and I barely heard the trains. Blackout curtains kept out the bright morning sun. I inadvertently met my next door neighbors but did not hear a sound from their room. The hotel did seem VERY understaffed during my stay. The line to store luggage, check-in, and check out were a tad long and I saw a lot of hurried business travelers getting very agitated by the wait. Staff are friendly but there are really not enough of them around. Desks were often left unattended as employees shuffled between rooms. Oddly, the front desk seems to need to go in back in order make room keys, which is really inefficient. Still, a nice stay. I'll stay here again if I ever have needs along the Red line. Union Market is a fantastic spot. read more

This was a great choice for our staycation last weekend. Conveniently located in the Noma area with many options for food. There's a restaurant/bar inside the hotel, which we never used. There's also a pool - never made it. I hadn't been in this area in awhile and didn't realize how much it's changed over the years. They're right by the Metro, and our room faced the train so I was expecting it to be loud, but it wasn't bad at all. Maybe I was just tired and slept through any noise. A quick Uber ride from Union Station and Union Market. I'm a Marriott member so I tend to pick their hotels so I can get those points! When I checked in, Jas at the front desk was very helpful and professional. Thank you! The room was big and clean. You can tell the hotel is a bit outdated and could use some renovations but I appreciated the convenience. The room had a microwave and a fridge! Woot! They offer valet at $55/night. If you're looking for a convenient location to stay in DC for a reasonable price, this Courtyard is for you -- NoMa Metro is a few doors down, as are a 711, Domino's, Dunkin, and Subway. If you're looking for better food, the delicious and adorable eating options Union Market District are an easy 5 min walk. Highly recommend Toastique (smoothies, juice bar, and fruit-forward breakfast bowls) and maman (iced and hot coffee and teas, brioche, crumb cake, and scones for breakfast/brunch and sweetgarden for a healthy but hearty lunch (seriously some of the best salads I've had in DC and the shroomaami with its tofu/portobello/cucumber/kale mix over wild rice with a miso ginger dressing bowl is chef's kiss). There are cute shops for shopping, too -- don't miss Shop Made in DC and Politics & Prose for good reads and local merch to take home from your visit -- and you can have a lot of fun at the nearby Formula 1 Arcade (sim racing, food and drinks). But as far as Courtyards go, the room is sort of a mixed bag. We had an executive suite -- so a bedroom and sitting room separated by a door. The bathroom was also separated, with a toilet and sink in one room and shower in the other separated by a door (someone can take a shower without tying up the whole bathroom that way). Having TVs in both rooms was also a plus. But all the furniture, from the desk chair to the pull out sofa and narrow chairs, looks like it's tired and ready to be replaced. The bathroom lighting was bad -- don't plan on doing your makeup there. The piping is all very loud, as are the doors, which only locked occasionally. Then there's the food situation--it's expensive and nothing is included. So while it's convenient to have something on site serving Starbucks coffee (not a full Starbucks), you'll pay $20 for an Americano and yogurt parfait because breakfast isn't included in the stay. Parking is valet only and $55/day as well, so plan these into your budget. None of these things are deal breakers, but you'll pay more than normal at a Courtyard for a quality that doesn't quite stack against others I've stayed at. And as others have said, the staff at the Courtyard have been friendly and helpful, from the valet to the check-in and bistro staff. So if you're not planning on spending much time at the hotel/in your room, this is a good spot. read more

I don't know why this location is called U.S. Capitol; that's not really where it is. Having said that, it is a fantastic location right near a metro stop, which enables you to get downtown to the Capitol or many other sites. It even has a direct exit to the walking trail that runs nearby the train tracks. This location is not where you want to be driving or trying to park, but if you're visiting and wanting to walk or use transit, it's great. The price is relatively low for the area, and I had concerns that there must be some reason why, but when I stayed, it was a very good experience. To be fair, my rewards status entitling me to a generous checkout time was a big part of that. The area is well lit and the ATF is across the street, so I don't think the safety concerns are that huge in the immediate area, but if you're walking elsewhere after dark in a city like DC you need to know what you're doing as there are some areas not far that are less safe. I had a smooth checkin at night, and they gave me no hassle about my late checkout, made my keys correctly so they didn't shut off early, and no one bothered me during my stay, which are things I can't say about every other Marriott-branded hotel I've used for travel and telework. Moreover, despite this being an urban area, I was amazed how peaceful the room itself was. Despite being sandwiched between a mess of train tracks and one of the city's worst automobile intersections, I experienced no noise problems at all. They must have done good soundproofing. The pool was closed for repairs while I was there and I didn't sample breakfast, but the room itself fit my needs as a business traveler quite well. I more often drive to DC than take the train, but if I came through on another train ride, this place would definitely be a possible return stop. read more

While visiting Washington DC we stayed the week here. Our stay started out rough. Our room, lovely room, was right next to the Red Line tracks as well as the commuter train tracks along with the horn blowing till at least midnight. So we did not sleep our first night, highly recommend asking for another room unless you sleep like the dead! We were then assigned another room the next day 516 after unpacking again realized it was indeed 77 degrees in room and air was not working. So again we were assigned another room 414 after repacking again and unpacking again it has been pretty quiet. We've been able to sleep. The housekeeping has been great leaving us extra towels as requested. Believe me walking the whole day a shower in the evening is great. One big plus is the closeness to the NOMA Red Metro line. It truly is 2 minute walk which after a long day is wonderful!! read more

Marriott hotels always set the bar high! This hotel was no different. The valet were very friendly and eager to help. The front desk representatives were just as great. We were able to upgrade to a room on the 5th floor. The room was spacious and had an amazing view of the surrounding area. We were able to catch Ubers easily and were able to attend the Washington Dallas game within less than 15 minutes. I recommend staying here whenever you are in the Washington area. read more

Great hotel literally next to the metro train station. Yes, there are rail noises. However it did really bother me. I had the option of near elevators or train tracks. The frequent elevator dings would bother me more. Train noises sound like thunder rumblings as they pass by. They rarely honk the horns. But if you're sensitive to noise... you'd better off choosing a different area. BTW I work near by about two blocks away and I can hear the train horns during the day. Check-in was super easy at 8pm after my cross country travel They even offered freshly backed oatmeal cookies. There is a 7-eleven next door, which is great to get drinks and snacks to fill the room mini fridge. The room was tidied up, trashed taken, and towels freshen everyday. Union Market food court is a couple blocks walking distance as well as a lot of dining options. I walked around the area during the day and kept it safe and took ride shares at night (for the DC area). There is a pool and hotel bar that I didn't get to try during this visit. The DC Monuments are 25-35 minutes away during rush hour. Traffic is pretty bad all over town. This hotel location is near my work. If you're a tourist you may want to stay closer to the action and away from the trains. If you're traveling by train you can't beat the convenience of having the station literally steps away. For my business travel, I'll be back. read more

I'm writing this review for my mothers experience. She is traveling through her company and was met with terrible customer service, employees with lack of knowledge and policies that are scammy. The staff member argued with my mom about a card needing to be charged up front for incidentals - her company was in charge of this but also I have never heard of a company charging up front for incidentals and on top of that the fee being 250. After working the situation out with a different staff member she was then told they didn't have a room for her and got extremely rude. This is uncalled for as you are in the business of hospitality. 250 for incidentals up front when staying 22 days is insane and unheard of. The place seems clean and I might update this review after her stay but right now I'd never recommend this place to someone traveling here. read more

This is the second time we are in town for Police Week. This hotel is filled with Sheriffs and Police Officers from all over the country. They stay here for the convenience and most of all the SERVICE. This Marriott rolls out the red carpet for everyone and we appreciate it. From the valet to the front desk to housekeeping, these employees all seem to really care about their job and take pride in what they do every day. One complete STAR is MARQUETTE, who makes every day staying here a great day. His happy can-do attitude and dedication to hotel guests is something to behold. We will be here again next year and are looking forward to seeing MARQUETTE and all of the other fantastic employees at this location. We are Lifetime Titanium members and stay at many different Marriott hotels but this one is a special favorite. read more

Courtyard by Marriott gets an F rating only because the internet has been out of service my entire stay. They say they don't know when it will be fixed. after all the crap I went through with the Gaylord Marriott property (see my review) I came to courtyard Marriott property and got double whammied. The suck part is I can't even get a cellular connection from my room. LTE 1 bar connection that can't help me do anything so I have been living in the Bistro connecting to the Dominos pizza WiFi connection 1 floor below the restaurant. They should give me some Bonvoy points for the inconvenience. read more

It's all about location, location, location. Close to the Metro and Bus stops. Close to the Union Market area. Vacationing in DC, my friend and I stayed here for 8 days. We arrived on a Tuesday, checked in, was upgraded to a suite. The room was fairly spacious seemed clean, had a microwave, coffee/tea maker and a mini refrigerator. (honestly in my opinion all hotels should rid of carpet and fabric sofas which you can never keep clean and disinfectant properly) We did not request for housekeeping during our stay but requested extra towels which were delivered right away. The safe in our room was not working, when we left for dinner we told the front desk and by the time we were back, the safe was fixed. The hotel location is not the most desirable as the 24 hour 7 Eleven attracts a lot of loud people that just hang around. If you are use to big cities, then you are familiar with the scenario and you just use common sense. The Duncan Donuts next door was clutch. I worked out in the gym every morning and would go pick up coffee and breakfast at DD for my friend and I. The location is perfect to walking to Union Market (Noma area) where there are fantastic restaurants and stores. We dined in that area at least for 3 dinners and 1 snack. To note: the pool was closed, the gym, small but good, stocked with plenty of wipes and towels. The dining area closed, but they did open the grab a breakfast and go area with limited hours. There is no AC in any of the lobby areas. The elevators are extremely hot and smell really bad. There isn't any vents in the bathroom in the room. The only mirrors are in the bathroom. The lighting is terrible and very dim in the room and in the bathroom. Usually Marriott's offer a complimentary breakfast. It is $25 per person per day here. The bed is really comfortable however I will not book here again. Overall, after paying over $600 for 4 days 3 nights its not worth the stay and I stay exclusively at Marriott properties. I'm very disappointed in my stay at this location. read more

Overall I would like to give the staff a 5/5 stars. They were very nice and informative. I had no complaints with customer service at all. Easy checkin and out. Jazz, Marquette, Marco, and another young lady working the bar this past Wed evening 11/20/2024 get kudos. I had nothing go wrong at the Marriott persay, some changes just need to be made to make it even better for patrons. The lounge area was kept clean and I love the lay of it. They have 4 individual booths with TV's if you want to sit there and enjoy a meal and just lounge. Unfortunately there are no remotes to the TV's so unable to change the channel. The food from the bistro is very lack luster. The time I was there had a chicken sandwich and a burger. Both were not flavorful. The fries were good. The illusion of having 3 elevators but only 1 working will give you anxiety. They just need to do some upgrading to the rooms. Get rid of the carpet in the rooms. When is the last time those have been shampooed? There was a mildew smell in the closet provided so didn't utilize that due to not wanting our clothes smelling. The TV just needs to be a bit larger in size and maybe upgrade to a smart TV. I had a dbl queen and the way the room was arranged it was difficult watching tv from 1 of the beds. read more

DO NOT STAY HERE! Marriott Bonvoy Elite member for 17 years. Arrived here after a very early morning flight with my wife to be told the AC was down in many but not all rooms. I asked if my room was going to be one with or without AC and asked to see a manager to find out. The manager, Kyan Brady, came out from the back and accused me of cursing at his hotel staff, which I did not. He then said if my wife and I didn't leave the hotel he would call the police. I've never in my life experienced anything like this. Just awful. The hotel is also in a terrible location. Avoid this and I hope Marriott gets Kyan Brady anger management therapy. read more

Busy, noisy location. Between the traffic, train and construction trucks!! The hotel is in dire need of updating. There was no comfy place to sit after a long day of sightseeing. The round couch was so uncomfortable. The lighting in the room was so dim. Next time in DC this will not be a choice for us. The staff is wonderful. I needed to use the business center. This is located behind check in area. In an open space, no seat stand up only and NO PRIVACY!!! The music on the 2nd main floor is so loud people are trying to talk over themselves. read more

The rooms are decent and the glass shower is a nice upgrade from the dirty tub shower combo usually in Courtyards. The front desk attendant was not very pleasant, but the people who work at valet were friendly and incredibly helpful. I cannot personally recommend staying at this Courtyard unless you get a really great rate. There is hardly anything around within walking distance and I wouldn't suggest walking around at night as there were multiple gunshots right by where I parked my car. read more

All I can say is WOW! This hotel stay for our kids' fall break far exceeded my expectations. The hospitality and attention to customer experience was some of the best I've encountered post-pandemic, even exceeding recent Sheraton and JW Marriott stays. I legitimately regret not cancelling our final night in town at the JW to remain an extra day at the courtyard- it really was that good. The convenience to the metro station, the safety and walkability of the surrounding neighborhood, and the solid food selection at a range of price points all made this stay a memorable one. Will definitely be recommending to friends and colleagues traveling to DC! read more

Do not waste your time booking a room here. I booked a room about 2 weeks before my trip, showed up to check in, and was told they did not have a room available. The staff told me the best they could do was book me at another hotel 30mins away. I ended up finding another Marriott on my own that was within a 6min drive. read more

Overall it was a nice hotel however the staff throughout the property are not the most helpful or friendly. I stopped at the restaurant and was told I could only get a cup of coffee in the morning, I kept having problems trying to pay for anything at the front desk, and for luggage one person sent me downstairs the person downstairs sent me upstairs. I was also not thrilled about the $8 bottle of water in the room. I also thought breakfast was a bit high cost for 1 person eggs, bacon, potatoes and coffee about $30. read more

8/7/21 My old stopping ground where I use to work. Things have changed since I was here last. I was happy to see the former storage area is now a Domino's Pizza store. From what I saw, the connection between the hotel is not a thing as it was supposed to be. Maybe the Coronavirus outbreak had something to do with that. The hummus restaurant is dead and gone, but I am glad to see Subway has stepped up and taken over the space. Five Guys Hamburgers are still there, but I did not go in the restaurant. The hotel changed its valet station and the space has been nearly wallet off with new look. One valet said the hotel will soon be under a different name. The second floor from what I saw had changed a bit. The computer room use to have a seating area, by the window, but not regular chairs are by the window. Bigger plans were in the works in the days of Katarina Burns, but things have changed. Burns the ass doesn't it? The costs for staying at this hotel is low right now, because of The Coronavirus and now its variant are painting the town red, so to speak. Nevertheless, this place is still in operation, but running on the bare minimum of staff at this point. The restaurant is still closed, but the restaurants across the street and downstairs will suffice...oh, and don't forget about the 24 hour 7 days a week 7 Eleven store right underneath the hotel. This place is okay, but the feelings I once had for this place is gone. As Bob Dylan sang, "People are crazy and times are strange I'm locked in tight, I'm out of range I used to care, but things have changed." I agree. We were staying at courtyard in foggy bottom with our young children, and had the expectation we'd swim in the pool and visit a few monuments but the pool was under construction. We'd driven 8 hours primarily for the pool and the kids disappointed. We called around to a few hotels to ask if we could swim, and the woman we spoke with at this hotel offered kindly to have us swim. We came back the next day and the front desk staff Jason said we could not swim, but we could have the manager at our courtyard send him evidence we were staying there and that they took responsibility by email. We drove back to our hotel talked with the manager there who called and emailed what ever evidence was needed. We called a few times that day. After all the trouble we were not allowed to go in. read more

The entrance is one of those that the lobby is on the 2nd floor so it's a bit weird entering and you need key access to get up. Parking is extra - there's not a parking lot, only valet. After having a terrible night at the Radisson in Baltimore the night before this hotel was like a breath of fresh air. Security was tight. Locked doors and locked upper floors. The neighborhood appeared a bit up and coming. Hotel seemed fairly new and came with all the standards we have come to expect from Marriotts. No breakfast but there was a cafe with Starbucks in the hotel. Seating area was attractive. Parking is tricky/expensive here, but if you don't have a car it's literally steps from a metro station. Where this hotel really shined was with the staff. Literally every staff member from the doorman, to the maid to the cafe worker and the front desk were all very friendly, gave a greeting and Happy Holidays. If I am ever taking the train in I would definitely stay here again. read more

pros: friendly staff. give you lots of toiletries, beds are pretty comfy, nice desk area, nice view out the window, cute art on the walls, good tv with some good stations, small free waters, nice snack bar market area, room was pretty clean but you do notice stains on the carpet. cons: didn't know the 0 was for front desk becuz there was no sign telling me otherwise. i had to call bistro to ask. bagels are gross. maybe starbucks bagels. tasteless and expensive!! pillows are not comfy. too mushy. the tub kept filling up! we didn't realize we had to tell someone to fix it. so whatever. for a hotel charging almost 400 a night, they should give you complimentary breakfast. this hotel wasn't my cup of tea and probably won't return. read more

Here are the + A few steps away from the red line train. Takes you everywhere for $2.25 a trip. Don't be afraid to use the train. You can get help there and most station workers are very helpful. Lots of quick service restaurants near by. Grocery store and cvs steps away. Starbucks 5 min walk away. Dominos in lobby area of hotel open very late. Mostly exceptionally nice and willing to help and go above and beyond for guests (specially Tabatha at the front desk). Check in quick. Rooms are big. Now the - So, the hotel has a 7-11 attached to it and draws odd community members there at all times. Felt a bit unsafe when walking by there. House keeping is inconsistent. One day one bed was made and the other wasn't. Weird. Toilet was not cleaned one day. I had to ask for towels everyday because we were 4 people in the room and only 2 towels were left daily. At times you could hear the train go by at night. There is only one washer and a One dryer in the building. read more

I've stayed in lots of Marriott properties - 60 of them on this list. So I know a good one. This is a good one. Friendly people and a nice room but it faced right out to the tracks where I could hear the Metro, Amtrak and more as they pulled into the nearby Metro station and Union Station. If you're here, ask for a room that doesn't face the tracks. With ear plugs, it was only a slight vibration as the train pulled in but without, it sounded like being near the airport. I wouldn't choose this property again. read more
