Please for the love of god, order ahead if you don't like to wait. It's a small space, so it feels crowded. There's a bench outside for waiting. Ordering was quick, but we waited from 1:04pm until 1:33pm for a wrap and a chicken parm. That being said, there's a reason it's busy. That wrap was so tasty and we haven't even gotten to the chicken parm yet.

Best chicken cutlet sandwich I've had since I left New Jersey in 2011. Soft fresh Italian bread sub roll, pounded thin cutlet, so good. The line waiting for subs was insane at 3 p.m. On a Saturday. This is a takeout place - there are only three tables so plan to bring your sandwich home.

Stopped by Cousin Vinny's in Tampa to grab some subs before heading out to catch the sunset, and it was a solid choice. I ordered the Tony Piccante, and my husband got something similar to an Italian sub ( can't remember the name). Both sandwiches were packed with flavor and made with really fresh ingredients. The portions are no joke either..you're definitely getting your money's worth. Everything tasted fresh, well-seasoned, and satisfying without feeling heavy. I was full eating half. Perfect quick stop if you want something filling and flavorful.

Cousin Vinny's Sandwich is a small sandwich shop located on Cass St near the University of Tampa. There is not much seating or standing room inside so you might want to consider taking your food to go. Parking is also scarce. Service is quick though. Our sandwich was ready within 8 minutes. I've only tried one sandwich so far, Tony Piccante... but that's all I needed to try to say it's one of the best around. The bread was excellent. The cutlets with vodka sauce, red peppers, ricotta, and mozzarella made an outstanding sandwich. At $15 it's not a cheap sandwich for the size, but it's stacked with quality ingredients.

Food was great. The staff were very friendly and so kind. They gave me a free chocolate chip cookie! So nice! This place was very busy and it is quite small. Only three tables inside with 4 seats each. But no big deal. Most people it seems take orders to go. This place bas been going viral online, so I thought I'd give it a try and I'm glad that I did!

Tiny place with BIG taste!! We stopped by on a quick trip after watching beach volleyball games at Univ of Tampa. Delicious! Just wow! Super friendly from placing the order to pick up. We got the chicken Caesar wrap and the Tony Piccante. Wrap was outstanding, fresh. The "Tony" was great- the bread was off the charts good. Soft with a crunch. A bit messy, but worth it. Spicy ala vodka sauce does have a kick to it. Huge portions. Could actually split and you'd be fine. Would definitely RECOMMEND!!

Update: Cape Del Schmeet

Update: I went back to Cousin Vinny's after a year and now I can say they truly impressed. Their menu has expanded and they now seem very dialed in. I got the Cape Del Schmeet and it was excellent.

My brother had heard good things about Vinny's so we stopped by for lunch and we get the hype! It's a small restaurant with minimal parking and seating, but truly massive and delicious sandwiches so just plan on taking yours to go if needed. My sister and I split the prosciutto di papo which was packed with fresh mozz, red peppers, and prosciutto. Absolutely delicious and more than enough for 2 people. My brother and his fiance split the Tony piccante and the bite I tried before they devoured it was just as good. Make sure you catch the mural of my cousin Vinny outside!

Had to check this place out after making Michelins Bib Gourmand! I understand they can get wildly busy, so was fortunate to show up during a downtime, and even then it took a while for the sammy to come out, as it must be made fresh. The Louie was a bit dry, but cutlet was on point - crispy and tender, and bread warm, soft, with crispy outter shell. Not a cheap Sammy, but worth the extra couple bucks for something local & made with love.

Unassuming brown paper bag

I finally got to cousin Vinny's...wow! Who knew that this unassuming brown paper bag held within it the most amazing meatball sub of all time?! The bread is crunchy on the outside and sort and chewy inside. The meatballs were...well, meaty! I got the spicy vodka sauce and it...was...amazing! Just a little kick...cheesy and tomatoey...overall 5 star experience. I got it to go, of course...I'll be back!

Grilled chicken Caesar salad wrap was WOW. You wouldn't think a Caesar wrap could get any better but then I tried this place... Number one tip is to order EARLY especially around peak times! I did an online order on a Friday at 1:30pm (website says it'll be ready in 30/45 minutes) and got there at 2:55pm. Place was PACKED. I ended up waiting until 2:20 when I finally got my food. Well worth the wait... but be prepared to be waiting with students that attend school nearby and be basically shoulder to shoulder as place is very small. Staff was going as quick as the could! Parking is kind of a nightmare which is understandable given where the place is located.

You think trying to serve this to a 3 year old is acceptable? I had the Italian which was fine so no complaints there. They try to make amends by offering a cookie and gave me a coupon for a free sandwich or salad. Like I said historically no major issues here beyond 1-2 times they forget the bottled water or applesauce for kids combo meal. I think maybe I'll stick to coming here on the weekdays.

I typically order the chicken salad…read moreor a sandwich, and I also place large catering orders for my customers because they genuinely enjoy the food. Unfortunately, after my most recent experience, I won't be returning. I stopped in around 3:00 p.m. and was happy to see it wasn't busy. I went to the deli counter, waited for someone to serve me, ordered my chicken salad, grabbed a soda and chips, and headed to the open register. As I walked up, the cashier called another customer over ahead of me. I waited while he spent several minutes deciding whether to pay cash or by card because of the 4% card fee. I continued standing there with my three items, to the point that I actually set them down and debated walking out. Then, instead of helping me, the cashier motioned for an entire family to come to the registereven though I had been standing there waiting before they arrived. After that, she waved over another customer, and I had to wait while a mother and her two teenagers decided which desserts they wanted. Again, I stood there patiently. When it was finally my turn, there was no greeting, no "thank you for waiting," nothing. The first thing I was asked was, "Do you have a pickup order?" I said no. She then motioned for my chicken salad container, saying she needed it. I placed it on the scale and set my other items on the counter. The cashier then asked, "Are you okay?" I simply shook my head because, honestly, I wasn't. Instead of recognizing why I was frustrated, she continued talking, making comments, and escalating the interaction rather than simply ringing me up. At that point, I asked, "Do you want to argue? Do you want me to go back and forth with you?" I then asked who the manager was. She pointed to a woman beside her, who identified herself as the owner. I asked if she could ring me up instead. Even then, the cashier continued making comments. It was only after she continued engaging me that my voice became louder in response. Rather than addressing the repeated comments from her employee or asking what had happened, the owner immediately said, "Do not raise your voice at my employee." That response was disappointing. There was no concern for the customer experience, no apology for repeatedly being skipped in line, and no attempt to resolve the situation. There was also no acknowledgment that the interaction had been escalated by the cashier's continued remarks before I ever raised my voice. The irony is that I have spent a significant amount of money catering from Frankie's Deli over the years because my customers love the food. Good food will bring people in once. Great customer service keeps them coming back. Sadly, this experience ended that relationship for me. There are plenty of places with great food, but respect and customer service matter just as much. One final thought: this is Florida not NY. Hospitality goes a long way. The aggressive, dismissive attitude I experienced isn't what I expect when supporting a local business. I won't be back.

After a nice chat with Paulie about politics, I headed home and dug in. The Chicago hot dog was perfect, although I had to remove the hot peppers.
