LACK OF SAFETY. No one was using barrel sleeves and people were just shooting paint markers whenever and WHEREVER they wanted. Also some players were taking shots at you from across the field pre match just trying to "target practice" on a container. I was hit with one and I had to say something to the refs who were all of high school age and didn't seem to care. Also a group of kids were shooting there guns in the resting area by the tables not even in the shooting range and no one said anything. -to people who are bringing their own equipment it's a good experience but renters seemed to struggle. Most games I ended up being the last person standing because I would get paired with renters who's guns would malfunction. -also they don't sell water witch is funny considering they would take so long in between matches to start the next game because they were worried about people getting heat stroke. Would I go again, probably yes because it's close to me but I hope next time to see more Safty and more assertive/alert staffing presence. read more

I brought a group of kids to Cousin's to celebrate my son's birthday, and all had a great time. The first round started out a bit rocky with some very experienced players with their own equipment, but the Cousin's staff went out of their way to address the imbalance and make sure everyone had fun. The cost is great for a day of play. If you have a party of ten or more, consider booking a private party. The cost is the same but it allows you to play with only your group. read more

Bad experience... Young refs that don't care, don't pay attention, and are pretty shoddy about basic safety measures. They do not check the speed of high end guns, don't fairly distribute teams and are quite preferential to people they know. Contrary to other posts, they take glee in letting little kids get shot, literally saying "well they should've paid for a private party". Lame. Deserves to go out of business. read more

I booked a private party for my son to celebrate his 17th bday with 9 of his friends. Our original booking was for early Dec. I unfortunately had to reschedule because the 1st weekend I booked a few kids found out last minute they had a meet & couldn't go. After that I had to reschedule a few more times due to poor weekend weather. Then covid got a few kids. I eventually lost track of how many times I rescheduled. Luckily, their rescheduling policy is very flexible, at least for me it was. We finally got to have the much delayed celebration this past Monday (no school) & the boys had a blast. Michael & Jayden were there to greet us upon arrival to finish up some paperwork. My son told me Jayden is the same age as them & was he was a great ref despite his age. The boys ended up getting more paintball because they ran out & the cost for the additional was reasonably priced. Since we were the only booking for the day we had the place to ourselves. After the 3 hr private play, the boys were able to hang out at the picnic tables, refuel on pizza & wings that I ordered from Mamma Mia Pizza (one of the best on SI). Despite the cold & mud (it rained a day before) my son said he & his boys really enjoyed playing & talked about going back again. Just did this today with a group of 12 in total. We all made the purchase on Living Social and it really was a fun time. The staff is young and uninterested. Our "referee" was Lou and he did a great job. However, if your gun isn't working properly or your CO2 tank wasn't full from the beginning, be sure to switch it out immediately as you won't have any fun if you're unable to shoot. Lots of extra fees. Gear, more ammo, extra tank of CO2 etc. The only thing we ultimately needed was more CO2. Don't bother with the gear but wear long sleeves/jacket/coat. It's a open wooded area with not a ton of big trees/places to camouflage. The added obstacles are fun and the blow-up-obstacle range is also fun. Not the *most* gay friendly...but, it is Staten Island, so what did I expect? Overall, I'd go back! However, I might purchase my own helmet because the loaner is old, grimy, and fogs very quickly. PROS: - Paintball was fun here. - A person gets assigned to your group to teach you the rules of the games and how to use the gun. They also play the role of a referee and they help wipe down from any paint splattered on you while playing) - Different fields to play in. Some are small and some are large. - They have a Practice Area for you to learn how to shoot. CONS: - Bathroom was horrible here! (it's one of those portable johnny bathrooms that are gross) - Paintball gets messy, after you have been splattered cause it gets oily. TIPS: It is more fun to go in a large group, also wear extra layer of clothes (ie: hoodie) so that when paintball hits you it won't hurt as much but it'd probably be too hot for the summer. If you are worried about getting your clothes dirty it is recommended to wear old clothes or you can buy a flimsy camo full body suit from Cousin's Paintball for $7. NOTES: - YELP's deal is similar to Groupon's Deal: ($25 for Admission, Gear Rental, and 500 Rounds at Cousins Paintball). In the end they both add up to $25 because yelp deal is $5 per person but you still have to pay $20 for the paintballs. We tried Cousins Staten Island for the first time today; we normally frequent Cousins in Manchester County. We were not disappointed, the refs were awesome, friendly and professional. The other players were super sweet to the boys (11 & 12 years) looking out for them even though they are seasoned players. Fields are great, well maintained and a good variety of maps. They also didn't waste a ton of time in between the games, so that was also a bonus - sometimes you can sit around for a bit. My son told me, it was the best day he has had playing paintball so that tells you something! Thanks for a amazing day! read more

Bought a 10 Pass package voucher that states it's valid for all locations. The value paid never expires even if the voucher expires. They refused to accept it and didn't even bother to look at it, let alone read the fine print. Customer Service - 0 The fields smelled like a zoo and the there was a lot of muddy areas where you could slip and fall. There was also a lot of debree on the floor like plastic bags, broken branches and ribbons. I thought the games were poorly organized and there was no real safety checks going on. People were getting shot while walking off the field and surrendering. People were cheating and pretending to surrender while walking around the field. If there were more refs on the field perhaps this could have been addressed and avoided. Air refills were free thankfully because after each game our tanks were empty. The guy refilling was actually very friendly. The masks are HORRIBLE. It fogs up within a minute when you put it on. Skirmish has nicer fields, better games and it's more organized. read more

First, rented equipment: Goggles so overused you hardly can see anything. You have to wear them all the time and you can not see much around. Secondly, management: There were some cheaters on the field, crossing boards in and out, and staff just don't care at all. read more

WTF DUDE! This place is a rip off!! The staff, except for the young guy & girl that were cashiers, where the biggest pieces of sh*t I ever encountered. We came as a huge group (10+ people, and reserved ahead of time) and we were nickel and dimed for everything; even the people that bought their own equipment. They made all of us pay extra, every time for air!! It clearly states that bringing my own equipment, I get free air - now you wanna charge me for it? I don't think so! The ref we had was the worst. Some chubby, young black kid who was LAZY and HORRIBLE! When we yelled "paint check" he just stood there like a mannequin - I mean do your job! He also let his friends in who had over powered guns. His friends were getting everyone in the field and everyone had broken, bloody skin. I've been paint balling for quite a while and even at close range, I never had skin break like that. This was straight bullsh*t! It got to a point that we told the ref and the ref says he already checked their pressure - which is a complete lie because some my buddies and I came with our equipment, and never got anything checked. There were little kids that came in the game, who were leaving bloody! I'm sure their parents were PISSED! The guys at the fill station are rude, the refs are lazy and careless, and please never forget anything there. Even though its right in front of their eyes. They simply will not return any of your forgotten belongings, or your phone calls or give a crap about you. How is this place? These place seems like a Jersey Shore Crack house: everyone is a burn out, right down to the manager! Imagine if Snooky had crack babies and they needed a job to show off their wack as* haircuts and even worse attitude towards life and customers. I have always been aware of the different paintball fields in the the greater tri state area and I have continually defaulted to one or two locations. Cousin's Paintball on Staten Island, is not one of them. I had really wished that the rumors that I've heard about this place weren't true, as I wouldn't mind adding another field to my typical repertoire. Unfortunately I experienced firsthand what the paintball community has been saying about Cousin's Paintball. Cousin's Paintball was relatively easy to find. With generic "Paintball" arrow signs right off the highway. What does bring some qualm is that the last sign points down what seems like a dead end road, but there's a hidden drive on the left, leading to Cousin's and its neighboring driving range. The main building seems to be a repurposed freight container, with doors and locks added. Within the staging area, were the standard portapotties and a few wooden tables (some rotting) for people to rest. Thankfully I have my own equipment but my group kept complaining about the state of their rental equipment. Some of which were regarding the paintball guns they were loaned, jamming often and not working properly. The most complaints were about the masks. Most of the people in my group stated that their masks were dirty on receipt and were fogging within a minute. This is kinda expected when you receive rental equipment. There were some inexcusable issues though. Although we had previously made a reservation for a private group, the field failed to have more than two referees on staff. This meant our private group had to play with seasoned walk on players, leading most of the group to have a terrible time. In total there were approximately 40 players all together with only two refs to manage the group on their confusing fields. To add to the confusion, when splitting teams, they didn't designate which team were which. No armbands. No ribbons. Nothing. It was genuinely hard to tell whether or not someone was your teammate. I say this cause I was shot by my own team. The fields itself were not very well maintained, plenty of rocks and random branches to trip over while running. There didn't seem to be good drainage on any of the fields. To be honest It was hard to differentiate the fields from one another only a flimsy line of rope separated the fields and they all had the same theme. I could easily see people accidentally shooting a different group across fields. This Cousin's Isn't a big space, the fields there seem manageable. A bit of care could definitely go a long way. One of the most abhorrent problems that I've seen while at Cousin's Paintball was the lack of safety. Since people can bring their own equipment to this field. It is imperative that the staff checks owned equipment and their firing speeds. Without keeping firing velocity in check, people could seriously be injured. While they did have a chrono station, the staff at Cousin's seemed to disregard it. I asked a manager if someone could chrono check my marker, he told someone to take care of it. I waited by the chrono station for someone to arrive. Waited 30 minutes and eventually gave up. I knew that I was firing within speed, I just had to hope everyone else was. Although Cousin's Paintball was one of the cheapest paintball fields that I've ever played on, there were some major problems. There is two different price points for paint. For people that bring their own equipment, it's 65$ for a case of 2000. For people that rent, it's 90$ for a case of 2000. Although this is good for experienced players, this is a gouging price point for rental players. The safety here is another major issue. On top of no chrono station, most of the staff didn't seem like they wanted to be there. Most of them seemed more interested in playing Pokemon Go rather than our safety. read more

I was really looking forward to paintballing. Being that I'm a paintball noob, I expected much better. This place is really run down. I though that paintball terrain was suppose to look run down and a little bit shaggy but this place takes it to a whole new level. The terrain is big, yes but the people working here aren't very professional. It's basically a free for all with these games. You get a whole bunch of people shooting at each other and that's basically a game.. LAME. The games were also very unfair. My team was full of noobs playing against semi pro players! (they had those extra ammo jars with extra paintballs attached to them- like come onnn) I opted out after one game for the sole reason that I just kept getting shot at repeatedly. Call me a wimp but that game was totally brutal. The toilets are really dirty and smell and they don't have a sink to wash your hands anywhere. I mean there was a sink but no water came out of it. It sucks cause My hands were really icky after all that paint splattering on me. The helmet was really lose on my head so it kept falling off and my view was foggy most of the time. Paintball was not a good experience at Cousins in Staten Island. I wouldn't come back. The games weren't organized at all and management was way too casual with everything. The only pro was that the gear guy helped me a lot with my beat up gun and the people who filled the air tanks were kinda nice. They should have more of an initiative to introduce the first timers on how the game works, what the rules are and just basic paint ball in general because not everyone is a regular at paint balling. read more

Ok... so this place is not the hottest place to go for paintball... so let me start off with the pros. This place is relatively close for those in brooklyn, NJ (woodbridge,Edison), and of course Staten Island. they have a speedball field... and a shooting range where you can chrono your gun. thats... about it. So the bad... What the fuck.... is with the speedball field... the doritos are so out of shape like a old man whose beaten up his ball sac and grinded it with tar.... a disgrace... They have 2 decent woodsball field... the rest is too small for more than 10 people. I waited 20+ minutes for almost every other game... They have lockes that are either busted or smells of dead ass. The Refs arn't the best and let's face it... most of them are like 16-19 years old... I'm not expecting world class service. and is that a PRO shop up front? do they have anything? Do they just hide it somewhere? whenever I need a certain part its always out or not in stock... all they have is overpriced harnesses and pants which you can get 20% cheaper almost anywhere else. So take this place for what it is... a place to play a bit of paintball w/o traveling too far... also their paint prices are decent. If you sorely need a place to practice... this place has all the necessary components for that.... however if you can eat it... go to the Cousins in Jersey... Staff is better trained and more organized. (at least they check for chrono! for the one in jersey! and a full PRO shop!) read more

The administrative area looked like it had not been cleaned up since the range opened. No directions or safety rules posted, the staff were apathetic and less than knowledgeable about either. The rental markers were below expectation even for rentals. Frequent jams, air tanks were empty when issued. The rental coveralls looked like they were made of compressed toilet paper (and not even the good kind!), and tore immediately after putting them on. The game ground is a backyard lot with piles garbage strewn here and there to represent "obstacles". No creativity, no attempt to create any sort of game scenario. It literally smelled like something died there - I sure hope it was not one of their customers. The only interaction we had from a referee was him taking us to a vacant field, sitting there staring into space for five minutes, then sending the teams to the opposite corners of the field and telling them to go shoot at each other. Summary: This place cares about your wallet, not about you having fun. Avoid like the plague. read more

I went here with a group of people (14 people) using a Groupon deal mid-March--the deal was for up to 6 hours of play, 500 paintballs, a gun and mask for $25 p/p or $89 for 4 people. The place was okay--nothing special. The "building" was a cargo container that looked like it was taken from the Cargo level in Black Ops 2. The equipment I received was average, but some of my friend's rented guns looked like it was about to fall apart. At one point, my boyfriend's brother's gun fell apart mid game---and he just sat out for it. I think they need to update the equipment ASAP to provide a better experience. The mask I had no longer had the foam trimming on the inside and it had a bad smell (sweat maybe--:-\). Since I had used a rented mask, it obviously fogged up--no bueno. I went to the shooting range to make sure the gun did not jam and shot well (considering that I rented the equipment, I did not expect the best). The fields are average and are good for people who may never have been paintballing. The layout of the fields was also average and could use some imaginative set-ups to make game play more interesting and fun. We had arrived early to avoid the crowd, which reduced the wait time to 10-20 minutes. However, as more people came, the wait time became pretty long, and at one point we waited almost an hour to go onto the field. One good thing about the experience was the free air we received. There was a charge for it, but did not have to pay for it. Besides that, it was an okay experience. read more

I'm not sure what other people were complaining about because I had a blast....and I'm a hardass when it comes to service. My party and I arrived there are did the waiver thing. I presented my groupon info and within minutes we were in the backyard gearing up. The guy in the gun shop gave us a tutorial and explained (in detail) what would happen and when....he also gave some tips on shooting. There was a 10min wait for the next session so we hopped in the target range and let off a few rounds, it was a lot of fun. Then the game started!!! We went out to a field, got split into groups and went to town on the other team. The ref was attentive and on the ball. Granted he couldn't see everything but he called out the cheaters and tried his best to keep things fair. I'm going back on Nov 10th and I am looking forward to another good time. read more

Cousins paintball is quite off the beaten track and far from NYC, almost the very South of Staten Island. We came on a Saturday with a group of 5 and stayed for 3 hours. We were only able to get through 3 scrimmages as it got too dangerous and hectic. The first 2 weren't so bad since there were about 20-30 people. Then the third scrimmage had more than 40 people and it just became a clusterfuck. Nobody followed instructions, staff didn't care at all about safety and regulations, so it was a madhouse. The game was called after about 5 minutes because it was dangerous. This location has several fields that people could play in, but didn't have any staff to manage. We spent most of the afternoon sitting around waiting for the next scrimmage. With better management, more people could've had fun and not waste time, but the staff don't care. read more

I have played here twice before, the first time was awful, the second was worse. This place is ran by kids and is extremely unorganized. We waited up to an hour in between games, which is unacceptable with the amount of referees working there. The fields have no novelty value. It's just a few branches and pallets. I recommend 'New Breed Paintball' in NJ. It's about an hour from NYC but well worth the trip. Don't waste your time and money at Cousins! read more

Nice looking fields, friendly but unprofessional staff, no chronograph and cramped proshop/air refill/eating and table area. MAJOR safety concerns. I normally paintball by myself or in small groups during open play. Yesterday was my first time playing in a private party. The adults involved at the register and check-in were courteous and attentive and got us all together as quickly as they could. However, the teenagers and younger adults assigned to our group were friendly, but unprofessional. Our group of 27 consisted of 22 firs-time players, but we did not receive an orientation of any kind. We walked onto the paintball field and past several 'Mask-on' signs, but referees and first time players did not have their masks on properly or at all--games on neighboring fields were ongoing. The only instruction referees gave our group were literally how to turn the safety off rental guns and how to fire. Once our first game began, I was appalled to see people taking off their masks in an active paintball game because they couldn't see. I went to the nearest referee only to find him sitting down and seemingly browsing on his cell phone. I told him that I saw a woman in our game taking off her mask and peaking over a bunker and gave him the general location--he went over to look into it, but I don't know what happened. While 'out' and waiting for the game to end, my friend and I, who regularly paintballed when we were younger, spectated, talked and noticed that people weren't calling themselves out once they were shot. We also noticed that the referees assigned to us were not refereeing the game and calling anyone out. Finally, right before the game ended we saw a player get pummeled by paintballs at close range right in front of us--he literally fell to the ground in pain. At this point, my friend went to a nearby referee and said 'Hey, do you guys use 'surrender rules?' we just watched someone get shot close range.' The ref responded 'Yes we do, but no one ever listens.' Game ended shortly thereafter. We played one more game--still no orientation even though several glaring safety issues were brought to referees attention. To make matters worse, while waiting for the next game to begin, many of us were lounging around the field in differing stages of unreadiness, including multiple players without masks on and two smoking cigarettes on a paintball field. Then one person near us in the private party yelled 'oh shoot, I think the game started!' We all looked around and saw the opposing team moving towards us and, you guessed it, shooting at us. Players hurried to put their masks on, pick up their guns and put out their cigarettes. If there even was a ref with or near our team, there was no communication that a game started and certainly no admonition for people not wearing masks even as active games were in play on neighboring fields. The game went on as you would expect. Moreover, once the game started multiple players realized they were out of CO2 for their rentals and couldn't shoot. Of course, no one clearly explained the need to monitor air levels in each tank and refill as needed, but referees did allow a break to refill on paint and air--judging from the empty tanks I am not sure players understood refilling air. Screams broke out as players who were 'out' were trying to walk off the field, but kept getting shot as they walked out of cover--of course these players were never taught to hold their gun and hands up when 'out' and those shooting them were never taught not to shoot 'out' players. I saw referees, who were again seated and on their phones, look up from their phones in response to the screams, but do nothing. Players began policing themselves. More players were shot at close range. Pictures of referees seated in a paintball field on their cell phones were taken and shown to management. I use my own equipment, but staff did not ask me to chronograph my marker or certify that it was at field FPS of 280-I hope the same wasn't true for other players. I attempted to chronograph my own marker for safety, but there was no chrono available at the shooting range when I test fired--this was at 1:30PM well into the day for the field. One thing to note, we went the day 2020 presidential election results were announced, 11/8/20. I understand that the election results were newsworthy and personal for a lot of people, but that is no excuse for what I saw happening, especially after all the safety issues were brought to the attention of paid staffers. I have never had so many concerns about safety while playing paintball in my 10+ years playing. Two stars because fields were laid out well and I honestly believe staffers were distracted and having an 'off day', but that can't excuse the lack of a response to repeated and diverse safety issues--there is a reason this place has low reviews. read more

Terrible ! Staff is young and doesn't know how to keep everyone together. Never fully explain what the rules are and for me I knew because I been to skirmish. But for the beginners they had no clue. Also the field are terrible , same terrain , very muddy & not well kept. Pricing is a little too much for not much that you get. Very few little refs and waiting is too long. Never coming here again. Sorry but you guys need to ask skirmish for some advice or be as good as the cousins downsouth. Don't come here at all read more

I'm an avid and active paintball player from the NYC area. This is my home field. Its conveniently located less than 40 minutes away from any of the other boroughs. Which means no major trip to and from the field just to play. You can be home and relaxing within the hour. The staff has always been great and helpful and the field, as a whole, is always slowly improving. Great people who will recognize your face fast if you start making routine trips here. The regular players can be a mixed bag. You'll find plenty of immature loud kids as well as chill relaxed adults. The field is small by paintball standards, but we can we do in NY? They do good with the space that they have and are always changing up the least popular fields to improve them. At the very least the small size feels like it fosters a sense of community among your fellow players and the regulars you meet. read more

This area is huge! So many places different spots to play! The service here is great too! Every group is assigned a table and a container to store their stuff. This review is only on the communication of Cousins Paintball. I am completely amazed at how the staff lacks how to read and answer a question. I have reached out multiple times and each time the representative fails to answer my questions. First I asked if there was a fee for their parking they said "Yes, parking is free" ermm okay....so there is no fee? Was not sure if there was a typo in free. Then I asked if they had any promotions. The representative probed me on the details. Was it for adults or kids? Public or private? After answering all these questions they proceeded to tell me the regular cost of a private session which completely disregarded my question. I had already checked their rates which are provided online!! Lastly, I called Cousins Paintball because only they make you pay almost 200 dollars in taxes, fees, AND deposits, however, they DO NOT LET YOU PAY IT ALL TOGETHER. I called for assistance to pay my grand total AND my deposit in one transaction since the website wasn't allowing me to. The representative booked my session WITHOUT charging the deposit which completely disregarded why I had called. Instead of wasting my time calling, I could have just continued to book online. To top it off the representative wrote my email wrong leaving me to call back and sort it out for an hour. If the representatives can't even answer a simple question I worry what my paintball experience is going to be like. read more

I went to cousins two weeks ago, through a yelp deal actually. A few of my friends bailed after They found out how far staten island is. However we still managed to have a great time there. They have an open play option where they gather up a bunch of folks into teams. We got at least 6 games in, and the paintballs were very fairly priced. $20 for 500.
