Cousins Subs: This Milwaukee based sub sandwich shop is located throughout the Midwest at more than 100 locations. It was founded in 1972 by cousins Bill Specht and Jim Sheppard (hence the name Cousins Subs). Their cheesesteak sub has been a favorite of mine for a few years now. Cousins' cheesesteak comes with steak, provolone cheese (I substituted for American this time), lettuce, onions, tomatoes & salt. Being the cheese man that I am, I decided to try it on their parmesan asiago bread. The bread added an extra burst of cheesy flavor (just not the ooey gooey kind) making me glad I remembered to try it. When heated the bread was soft, thick, and pleasantly chewy. I was given a large portion of steak and there was plenty of gooey, melty, American cheese to keep me happy. Although it didn't add flavor, the lettuce did add a nice crunchy texture along with the onions that were also packing some flavor. Doughboy approved! I placed a mobile order and it was ready on time, I was given plenty of napkins to go, the staff followed my special instructions and substitutions, and the staff was friendly when I picked it up. To be honest there are better sub places in oak creek. It's a good stop on the way to the airport and my mom always gets a sandwich there for her trip home. But unfortunately for my husband he wasn't so lucky, he had discolored meat and it didn't sit well with him, understandably so. So it's a very mixed bag. In for work from Colorado. Was offered a Wisconsin Sub and said sure. It was tasty, HOWEVER they use liquid gold cheese. WHAT? In Wisconsin. Why would you come here and not get real cheese. Ordered 3 items and every single one was wrong. 1) Ham and cheese sub with no onions and yep onions on it. 2) Loaf of bread (didn't receive that and had to remind them that I ordered it) 3) Tuna sub in a bowl that came with no Tuna just salad in a bowl. Why go here ever? I mean really? Open your fridge and anything you make is 1000 percent better and guess what? Much much cheaper and you don't get rotten service either. Sometimes the people are great, sometimes your just another one mark on the checklist of things to do. With that said, the food is always on point. I love Cousins Subs. They have a grill (opposed to a microwave at other locations) which makes their hot subs something to contend with. Their recently updated interior has given this location a wonderful look and feel. Stone wall, decor reminiscing the original location, and Coke Freestyle were much needed enhancements that have suited the store well. read more

every time i come here i'm waiting in the parking lot for 15-20 minutes. it doesn't matter if i have one sub or two, it always takes so long. sometimes i wonder if i've been forgotten because i'm currently sitting alongside two other cars who've been sitting here for awhile as well. i didn't once see an employee leave the building to bring food out and i'm pretty sure they're only focused on the customers who haven't ordered yet, inside. this is so ridiculous and i will not be coming back to this location even though it's the most convenient one near my house. disappointing is an understatement, you guys need to get your stuff together and start making sure customers that have already ordered and paid get their food first instead of having them wait for 20 minutes outside. read more

Stopped here for food on the go on a road trip. These are the kind of subs I remember from my childhood. A really nice Italian sub roll packed with meats and cheeses. Hubby had the Italian Special. It was filled with Cappacolla ham, coteghino bologna, Genoa salami, provolone, lettuce, onions, tomatoes, salt, oregano & oil. This is kind of sub I think of when hear sub sandwich. He loved it. I had the Steak Philly with Steak, American cheese, sautéed green peppers & sautéed onions. It was pretty darn good considering its distance from Philly and not really being a traditional sub. I would order again! We both had the 7.5" size and it was plenty big! Hope we stop here again on our way back! read more

I've been in twice between 8 and 9 both times and there aren't very many customers. The staff was very friendly. I ordered the Philly cheesesteak both times and enjoyed it enough to order it again. It was a bit greasy because of the cheese. I wouldn't recommend ordering extra cheese on this one even if you love cheese. They have Sprecher's root beer, which is interesting. At first I liked the flavor but as I drank it I wasn't so sure. There is a musty aftertaste to it. (I had the hard version of this root beer and I think it's much better as a soft drink.) The second visit they were short staffed and the customer in the drive-through was holding up the orders but the other girl went ahead and made sandwiches for me and another customer while we were waiting to be rung up. Overall their selection seems to be good for a basic sandwich shop. Their subs are 7-1/2" and 15" but the price is about the same as a 6" and 12" sub at other sandwich shops. I'll have to try some other sandwiches and expand this review, but the service and quality have been consistent so far. My first visit the men's room was locked. I don't know if I should have asked for a key or if someone was camping out in there but I never saw anyone come out. read more

Very dissapointed in what we got for the price we paid. The fries were cold and soggy by the time we got home and we only live 3 minutes away. Both of their "new" chicken cheese steak subs we ordered were very bizarre and underwhelming. There was barely any chicken on the subs as their old chicken breast sub at least had 2 decent sized pieces of chicken. I bet there was barely one of those old pieces on this new one. I personally ordered the mushroom bacon Swiss or whatever and I couldn't believe it it was bread and cheese with a strip of bacon. I don't think I will be going back to this location not to mention it took like 10-15 minutes in the drive through.... read more

Cousins is usually pretty consistent on product. The last two times that I ordered the Cheesesteak sandwiches they were slightly overcooked an dry. Overall taste was good, and serving size was appropriate. They are getting a bit on the pricey side, so try to locate and use a coupon for a better deal. read more

If you know Cousins Subs, then you pretty much know what to expect. I think this is a good location, the wait has never been long, the sandwiches and fries are always made fresh, it's clean inside and they have a drive thru. These days they do an especially good job with their steak sandwiches, as they have a grill where they can cook them fresh. If you don't know Cousins, you should try it. We're used to Cousins in Wisconsin... to us it's just "normal subs" but when I travel, I miss it... Quality is better than most competitors. It's fast food, but fresher and tastier than the "normal" fast food burger places, and bread and meats are better than Subway or Jimmy John's. read more

My fiancé and I just moved to Oak Creek from Chicago last week, and we've already had Cousins 3 times! We had never heard of it, but we came across it while looking for fast healthy food nearby to eat while we unpacked. The sandwiches are original, we love the bread choices (especially the asiago) and the service has been great every time. We've also determined they have the best cheese curds in Oak Creek. We don't frequent this location very much, but it was on the way to the lake where we wanted some good sandwiches to picnic with. We ordered on-line and went through the drive-through to pick it up. It took a bit to go through there as there was 1 person in-line ahead of us that seemed to take awhile. Once we got to the window, it was quick. Got a kick out of the drive-thru employee. If this is his day job, he should quit it and follow his calling as a radio DJ or TV infomercial celebrity. How refreshing to experience someone trying to make their food/customer service job fun. He may be over-the-top for some people (depending on your mood), but I'm not sure I ever went through a drive-thru laughing, having a good time, and leaving with a smile on my face. The only reason this review did not receive 5 stars is because there were onions added to one sandwich that should not have been. Order and receipt confirms they shouldn't have been there, but alas, they appeared and reduced enjoyment of the sandwich. read more
