    The food was okay overall the service was slow and we waited a while to get a second drink. They check on our food quality after bringing it. My wife ordered a steak Frites well well done and half of her portion slices were medium rare. We started with deviled eggs those were tasty I can recommend that and the shrimp cocktail was good enough. The crab salad was bland it needed something else to liven up the flavor a spoon luck of mayo maybe some pepper or salt. Pepper and salt and all the condiments are on the table which I've never a fan of it. The fine dining restaurants think it means they fancy but this food wasn't fancy the place was nice. The Service needs to be retrained. We ate here because we were seeing the old-fashioned Magic show at Eliza Jane next-door and if you wanna come in for some apps or maybe try or the other entrées I didn't find anything. I really wanted to try because I'm not a big fan of French food I guess I should've tried the duck. There may be some good food here, but I won't be back till to find out we were both underwhelmed. Hopefully they fix the problems if somebody else gives a better review, but I cannot. We both agree the french fries were good. Ambience is pretty good with their remodeling so the bathroom was like a 5 to 10 minute wait it's only one person at a time and women kept using the men's room because it's only. So I had to wait two times for women to come out. Single serve bathrooms definitely are not adequate, but they're doing the best they can during remodeling.

    HORRENDOUS EXPERIENCE from the service to the wait and even down to the food. If you want to write a book on how not to run a restaurant, start your thesis here. Trying to make a reservation here is like breaking into Fort Knox, nobody answers the phone and when we finally did get a res two weeks out, they MOVED the res ONE HOUR before we were set to arrive. When we arrived the place actually looked very nice and the hostess was helpful in getting us seated, and those were the last moments of happiness we would experience over the next 2 hours. We ordered bottomless mimosas for around 6/10 people in our party. Every single time our bottle of champagne ran out we had to either ask for more or get up and walk over to the bar to request it. When we finally did order our food we were pretty excited, but little did we know we would have enough time to walk down to the morning parades and catch some beads before it would actually come out. From ordering to when our food arrived was a total of 1.5 HOURS. We were 5 minutes away from just walking out. You would think "wow, this food took so long to arrive! It must be good!" WRONG. They spent the hour and a half making our food to turn our order of french toast into a two sided coin, one side normal looking, the other black as coal. Ahh, who needs the hour and a half long wait for their french toast when you can have the duck and waffles, right? And then they brought us a plate of one waffle and a single duck leg for $30. At this point we started looking around for cameras because we thought we were being pranked. Not a single person in our 10 person party (and that's a lot of chances) found this place even remotely close to mediocre. Others had their chicken sandwiches arrive cold, salads arrive bad, and come on how do you mess a salad up? The worst part was seeing a couple get up and walk out from the wait and realizing we were the poor bastards that stayed. It's a shame because the spot itself looks nice, but I guess if you paint s**t pink, it's still s**t. Don't come here.

    I thought this place was great! I came here for a reunion with people that were visiting out of town - the restaurant is located downtown so it's quite accessible for anyone who lives in that neighborhood and I was able to find near by parking which was great. I had the Moules Marinières and it was so delicious and fresh. I loved how they placed cilantro on top of the pasta and they had different bits of seafood which made the dish great. The vibe of this place was also really nice. We ended with the crème bre and it was delicious. They did try taking our crème brule away even though there were a few bites left which is why I needed to Knock off a star and I was confused because there weren't people waiting, but otherwise the food was great and fresh!

    I was invited to Couvant by a couple that lives in the neighborhood and it was the most gorgeous restaurant with a knock-out French menu and fabulous service. After taking a tour of the Eliza Jane and peeping in on a wedding in session, we settled for Strange Bird cocktails and small plates. If ever steak tartare is on the menu, I'm ordering it so my decision was quickly made. Tartare de boeuf and citrus salad. My friends had the Foie Gras Torchon and Salade Maison. The tartare came with the most gorgeous grilled bread and I did not want to share and the salad was the perfect counterpoint. I still had a long night ahead of me so this was the perfect meal. My one regret was not having room to order the Foie Gras Torchon for myself. Once I sampled it, I wanted more. I recommend Couvant for an unforgettable dining experience that can carry over into the exciting bar at the Eliza Jane.

    Ate here twice while staying at The Eliza Jane and was surprisingly delighted by the food. I ordered the short ribs for dinner one night and the mashed potatoes that came with it were unbelievable. I got The Eliza Jane breakfast one morning and was so glad I ordered the grits as my side. Those are maybe the best grits I've ever had. Buttery deliciousness. What luck that was stayed at the attached hotel because I'm not sure we would have discovered this place otherwise.

    Pretty good for breakfast. It's a nice space with a welcoming interior and also a lot of courtyard space in the rear--it attaches to a hotel and is apparently that hotel's restaurant though I was unaware of that at first. A converted former industrial/commercial space, they've made it classy without feeling pretentious and truly has a Southern charm. Service is fine, I would not say exceptional in my experience, but alright. I had their pain perdu which is thankfully served with cane syrup--not sure if it was Steen's or not, but I do expect cane syrup and not maple at any New Orleans restaurant which takes itself seriously. I ordered chicken sausage on the side which was also fine . . . a bit surprised there were not more options for fruit however on the menu. Overall, would recommend for breakfast.

    Couvant could be something -- but on our visit, it just wasn't. The one bright spot? They offer a Saturday happy hour from 5-7, which is rare and appreciated. But unfortunately... the place was completely dead. We were the only ones at the bar, which made the energy feel awkward, especially when compared to the connected hotel next door that was buzzing with live jazz, a packed crowd, and an all-around amazing vibe. Our bartender (in pic I posted) didn't help the situation. Got our order wrong, wasn't particularly friendly, and honestly seemed more annoyed than welcoming. When you're one of the only guests in the room, that kind of service stands out. With a location tied to such a lively hotel, you'd expect more -- more energy, better service, something. But Couvant just fell flat. I'd be surprised if it lasts another year unless something changes. If you're in the area, maybe check the bar scene next door instead.

    Came here based on a recommendation and loved the interior. It's a moody, small restaurant that's decorated well. We came for dinner as we're staying a couple blocks away. I started off with the panisse and loved it! The sauce it came with complimented it well. I wasn't impressed with the steak frites. The sauce I ordered didn't make it any better either. My favorite part was the crème brûlée! Absolutely phenomenal and a great way to end dinner. The service was quick and everyone was attentive.

    As a local, I've always wanted to visit this place as it's located in one of my fav boutique hotels. I stopped in on Sunday for brunch and there was only 1 other table seated (should've been my first clue). Outside of the incredible service and gorgeous patio seating with soooo much natural sunlight and a seeene ambiance, my experience was severely underwhelming, under seasoned and not memorable. In New Orleans, we should know better than to leave the tails on the shrimp.....to not salt the grits....to overcook pork shoulder....to not overcooked a supposed poached egg. Unfortunately I won't be back for more than a cocktail.

    BABEEEYYYY!! Couvant at the Eliza Jane Hotel deserves a full five stars without hesitation. The chefs know what they're doing. The baristas know what they're doing. The bartenders know what they're doing. The servers know what they're doing. Everyone in that building is operating at a high level and it shows. The food is phenomenally flavored and phenomenally delivered. I had the shrimp and grits and it was phenomenal. I also had the mushroom soup and it was phenomenal. Every bite was layered with flavor, cooked with intention, and served with care. This is not your average hotel restaurant. This is a full-on culinary experience that just happens to be tucked into a stunning boutique hotel. The only thing I would mention, and not even as a complaint but more as a gentle hometown nudge, is the hot sauce situation. They only had Crystal. Now I love Crystal. No hate at all. But I'm in Louisiana. I'm going to need to see Louisiana Hot Sauce on that table too. Give me the option. That's it. Other than that, 5 out of 5, would recommend, would return, and would absolutely tell people not to sleep on Couvant.

    While visiting Couvant was most convenient because I'm staying at the Eliza Jane, i had a tough experience as a lone diner unfortunately. I made reservations for 5:30pm just in case the restaurant would be busy and Happy Hour begins at 5pm. I was greeted well when I entered but then led to a very dark back table to dine. I declined this seat politely and asked to sit somewhere else and then was told that the Happy Hour menu could only be had at the bar (which is common and perfectly fine), I'm flexible as I'm alone so I choose to sit at the bar. The bartender says hello, I'm at the bar with 3 other patrons and I say "how are you"? And he says "very busy". I quickly order a drink and then begin looking for food. He comes back with the drink and asks if I have decided on anything and I said "deciding, everything looks good", and he asks if i have any questions, so I ask about the gulf fish and if he'd tried it or the Reveillon lobster tail, and he says "I've seen it but I'm a very busy man", shortly. Why even ask if I have questions if you're going to be rude about it? I feel like an unwanted bother. If I didn't have my AMEX credit to spend up, I would have walked out. Try your luck with service or go with friends, maybe you won't notice how rude and unwelcoming it is. If you love passion fruit definitely get the Le Passion, it's very fruit forward. The bartender then brought me the food, smelled great, absolutely not what I ordered. Ultimately i feel incredibly bad for the bartender. He's taking care of the restaurant and bar alone (on this particular night) and he's handling it all but it leaves no room for kind and careful customer service. I fault whoever is staffing for this. I ordered the Gulf Fish, comes with jumbo lump crab and asparagus, and it's delicious. The bartender paired it for me with a Sauvignon Blanc that went perfect. After an incredibly rocky start, the drinks and food are pretty good here.

    I believe it was 20 or 25 bottomless for the drinks. And the 3 courses was like 45. The food is not unlimited. Coolinary is only for the month of August too.

It was tender, however it lacked flavor and seasoning. I asked for hot sauce but never received it. I finally decided to ask for a to go box to take the remaining piece home. The chips "fries" were great. They were freshly cut real potato fries. They were hot and seasoned well. My significant other had the shrimp and grits which he thoroughly enjoyed. As an appetizer we had the salad. Seemed simple and basic enough but was actually very good. I'm unsure of the dressing it was tossed in but it was just enough and well flavored. We skipped on dessert. We considered the cookie plate but since nobody could tell us what kind of cookies they were, so we decided to pass. The best part about our dining experience was the ambiance. The salmon had great flavor but was more on the well done side rather than medium well as requested but it was very fresh. The creamy orzo with mushrooms and spinach stole the show. It was delicious and so flavorful, you may need to add salt to it but all the ingredients complemented each other so well and made a very good dish. My sister ordered the Herb Roasted Chicken with Broccolini and Mashed Potatoes which was also a very good dish. The chicken was crispy and seasoned well throughout, again maybe slightly overcooked but the flavor was delicious and the garlic butter sauce that came with it was divine!! Overall, I will definitely be dining here again! I had a memorable time and look forward to making my next visit here!

Next up, when in the South, why not order Fried Green Tomatoes - Burrata, Country Ham & Oregano? Another terrific plate, perhaps the best FGT dish I've had! Finally, my "target dish" arrived, the Shrimp & Okra Gumbo with Andouille, Collard Greens & Popcorn Rice. Really, really good. Very dark roux, as I like, and with plenty of seafood flavor, but more depth as well. Definitely one of the best gumbos I've ever enjoyed. They did clean it but makes me think they don't clean after each pull. Should never see that.

What was once a dark, dank passage is now an inspirational tunnel of light that promises a warm only-at-Vyonne's reception and has become such a focal point that the now-required social media photos of any high quality restaurant experience are (in Vyonne's case) taken there. The tunnel of light opens into the very large courtyard which was the place to be on a sensually warm New Orleans spring evening. Dr. Vyonne gave my companion and I a tour of the restaurant's two levels and while the interior design was French-influenced, her deepest inspiration is women rising throughout the world as so much of the art on Vyonne's walls celebrates women from the culture bearers of the New Orleans to Nobel laureate Maria Corina Machado whose Oslo ceremony Dr. Vyonne attended. Vyonne's makes social, cultural, and political advocacy grown and sexy! We sat inside to be among the decor and decided it was time to partake in the establishment's faire. Drinks commenced with stunningly beautiful cocktails: an espresso martini for her and a strawberry-infused lemon drop for me.. Our server (so sorry I forgot her name but she was absolutely lovely and as convivial as our host) was also our mixologist and our drinks were perfectly proportioned, masterfully blended, and properly chilled. We then opened with the crawfish begniets. Now these are not the traditional begnets drenched in powdered sugar with which one would associate with New Orleans. This was a somewhat denser, more savory pastry that paired well with the crawfish sauce ladled atop. Very flavorful and filling. The begniets paired with the Cheux de Bruxelles: Fried Brussel Sprouts with goat cheese and drizzled with bacon-infused vinegrette. Their being fried actually made Brussel sprouts appealing to me and I can't say no to goat cheese. Another hit for Vyonne's. We proceeded to our respective main courses: for her a pasta dish with Broccoli rabe that just carried so many subtle flavors of grain, vegetable, oils and seasonings but is not currently on the menu. I had the Crevette, les pates, and ecrevisse: Shrimp and Crawfish over fresh pappardelle pasta topped with butter cream sauce, garlic, leeks and finished with aged white cheddar cheese and basil. My eyes were bigger than my stomach and I should have kept it at the appetizers but it was quite a decadent dish on which one should splurge when visiting Vyonne's, and I had promised myself I would take a real swing at the menu. Thankfully I was able to bring the food home with me and it travelled very well even with my having to attend a television taping and held up even better the next morning. Of course, we posed for our own photos in the tunnel. New Orleans is place known for legendary eateries that have operated for decades and even over a century. Commander's , Antoine's, Galatoire's, Muriel's, Herbsaint, August, the list is endless. It's why people come to New Orleans. It will take some time, but I believe Vyonne's can join that list of legendary New Orleans places for which people will hop aircraft to experience. And Dr. Vyonne will be there ready to welcome you as she welcomed me. Vyonne's is where you come as a customer and leave as family. As I cannot wait to return to my spiritual home of New Orleans, I can't wait to visit Dr. Vyonne again and keep working my way through the menu. Go see the doc and she will take great care of you. Vyonne's is a must.
