Lobster roll - can order hot or cold (this is the cold with extra mayo)
    Melissa G.

Great experience - sat outside on a beautiful late Summer day enjoying the amazing NYC views. The star of the show besides those waterfront views has to be their amazing drinks. I ordered my first pornstar martini and it came complete with a half a passionfruit. Table next to us ordered these beautiful frozen drinks that were picture perfect. Several tables ordered smoked old fashions that they serve tableside from a crystal decanter - nice touch. For food we ordered a half dozen oysters which were big and flavorful served with a watermelon granita. I had the lobster roll which was good, husband had the steak sandwich which he loved. Staff is top notch and we even met the owner Michael who shook our hand and personally walked us to the hostess stand. It was our first visit but will definitely not be our last.

Syrupy, very sweet, wet chocolate cake. Not for the faint hearted!

First, myself and other friends have been waiting for this location to reopen. The menu is very limited, the drinks have fun names but not an impressive flavor. Specifically, the grilled lamb chops are excellent. There are only 2 salad options, no other vegetables appear anywhere. The seating is outdoors only as they " finish indoor renovations." We arrived at 3:30 for a 4 p.m. dinner ( no lunch during the week) reservation and got drinks at the bar. We were seated and ordered immediately since one friend had to leave early. We waited for over 30 minutes for any food to appear. The staff attempted to be attentive, but we had 2 different waitresses and a few bus boys buzzing around. But none were in any hurry to bring food or the requested 2 nd round of drinks to our table. We ordered one dessert to share and it was frozen and stale, we sent it back. We were served the only other option a chocolate cake soaking wet with syrup. It was on the house. For some it may be satisfying but for me it was sickeningly sweet and I couldn't find the cake it was so saturated with Hershey's or its equivalent. There are frozen drink options, I asked if the peanut butter flavor in the frozen espresso could be eliminated, no the bartender said. Ok a regular espresso martini, no flavor, flat and a discernible battery acid flavor. Ugh! We were there having a great time reconnecting with each other despite the disappointing adjustments and yes the lamb chops were super! So I will give it another try maybe in the fall if the inside is ready. But seriously several types of toppings for fries but not a single vegetable in sight? Except maybe if you count the Mexican corn concoction! I'd like to say it's a nice romantic spot for drinks ( substandard) and maybe appetizers but this current menu is too limited, and the drinks need taste testing by management. The manager did stop by our table and we did say the staff tried to be attentive and the lamb chops were great. We didn't want to get into the discussion of what we didn't like since we were there to have fun with each other and not put a downer on the experience. Oh and the prices are equal to Manhattan, so you'd expect more of a quality experience.

The best SERVICE and best Lychee martinis (for my girlies!!! ) I was a little skeptical of this place because I thought it was another Edgewater wanna be NYC spot and it definitely was NOT that. Exceptional service, immaculate vibes and even better view. Mariah at the bar makes the best Lychee martini, Kory is the kindest sweetest and cutest server (for the girlies) ever, and James is the most personable bartender ever!! I would definitely come here again not only for the food and drink but also for the service. Try it out, I promise it is not an overhyped spot!!!

this place used to be pier 115. and now it changed and renovated and called cov. i used to go all the time when it was the previous restaurant. so i will say that the seating is limited because they are finishing renovations inside so you have to make a reservation to get a table or then you are stuck standing on the pier by the bar. me and my friend got lucky that right when we got there we saw 2 people getting up from their seat by the bar and was able to grab it or we would of been standing all night. i don't mind standing if its just drinks but we wanted to order food too. i wanted to order a certain drink from the menu but the bartender said they were out of something so he said it wasn't available at the moment. so i looked for a different drink. and i was satisfied with my second choice. overall me and my friend enjoyed the night. the view was lovely of the city and it was beautiful weather. the decor was nice it felt like i was in greece, very mediterranean feel. also liked the music they were playing. it was a good mix and it added to the vibes of the place.

Dined here on a Friday with my friend and had a great experience. We were seated quickly and started with a few drinks, which were great. For food, we had the calamari and oysters, along with the steak and fries and clam pasta--all delicious! Emily was extremely friendly and attentive and gave us great recommendations throughout the evening. Can't wait to go back!

We were both looking forward to dining al fresco, but it turned out to be a raining morning, so we wound up inside instead. The venue change was not all bad, as the bright dining room was surrounded by windows offering just a slightly more obscured view of Manhattan and the Hudson River. The restaurant offered either a à la carte menu or a $41 prix-fixe option, which included a choice of one brunch item and two mimosas, bellinis or bloody marys. While my friend opted to include the beverage package, I stuck with coffee and a main dish. My coffee was bold, tasty, and refilled as needed. For my entree, I selected the Bakkafrost Salmon, which arrived as a long, thin filet of pan-seared salmon served over a Japanese sweet potato hash and plated with a tomato confit and a parsnip puree. It was further garnished with a black sesame tuile and a soy garlic glaze. The salmon was a bit fishy, but the rest of the accoutrements were fantastic! I love Japanese sweet potatoes and parsnips, so it was right up my alley. Of course the weather started to clear towards the end of our experience, but we still really enjoyed our tasty meal, excellent service, and stunning views from the elegant dining room.

Whether one's in the mood for a cozy family dinner or a casual get-together with friends. Sitting on the banks of the Hudson River in Edgewater, my partner, our friends, and I decided on a celebratory dinner at the Haven Waterfront Restaurant & Bar. A reservation was easily made via OpenTable. Upon arrival as first-timers, we were greeted by the host and got a table immediately by the window inside their floor-to-ceiling dining room, evoking a relaxed yet upscale vibe. Their menu specializes in American/Mediterranean cuisine influenced by seafood, steakhouse, and pasta. For appetizers, we decided on Short Rib Crostini, Kumamoto Oysters, and Yellowin Ahi Tuna Tacos. Our main consisted of Pan-Seared Chilean Sea Bass, 7 oz Prime Cut Filet Mignon, Bangkok Roasted Duck Breast, Lenny's Lobster Pasta, Crispy Lyonnaise Potatoes, and French Butter Asparagus. We even saved room for dessert and got the Bailey's Crème Brûlée and Assorted Dessert Tasting for two. We washed them down with I Dream of Lychees Martini, Berry White Spritz, and Haven Espresso. Complimentary bread with softened butter started our meal. The food is presented like art, and the portions varied depending on what one ordered. It's a little pricey but definitely worth it and fair considering the quality. Our server, Juan, was friendly, accommodating, and took the time to answer all of our questions, which made the experience even more enjoyable. A wonderful night all around--we're already looking forward to coming back.

The beige walls and neutral tones in the space gave us flashbacks to when we used to dine at Dovetail, the restaurant in this space many, many years ago (before children). Of course, our dinner at Essential far outshone any we had at Dovetail, both because this was a "date with the whole family" as the progeny puts it, and because the kitchen at Essential is unusually precise and deliberate, distilling onto each plate the pure, fresh, unadulterated flavors of premium ingredients. You can choose a four or seven course "experience", with or without wine pairings. Children may order à la carte or from an unpublished children's menu that includes burgers and pasta for picky eaters. Three of us went with the four course experience and chose our own wine and mocktails to accompany; the 11-year-old went à la carte. Our meal began with a more-substantial-than-usual amuse bouche of mushroom cappuccino. We were advised to sink our spoons all the way down to the bottom of the cup for each bite, so we could experience all three layers at once: sweet potato purée at the base, topped with Madeira reduction and umami-rich mushroom foam. First courses: Dorade Royale (artichoke / gold ossetra caviar / bouillon tiède gourmand): A neatly presented square of layered raw dorade and tender slivers of artichoke hearts came topped with a generous mound of caviar. Bouillon tiède was poured around the square tableside, which slightly warmed the dorade and intensified its delicate flavor. Hokkaido Uni (crustacean royal / sora pickles / wasabi velour): Despite the brilliant green of the gently creamy wasabi sauce / soup, there was no heat and little, if any, of fresh wasabi's distinctive scent. This was just as well, since the bits of Hokkaido uni in the dish were sweet and delicious, and a stronger sauce may have overwhelmed. Toro Saku (mi cuit / tamarind / mandarinquats / sea condiment): A fair sized slab of toro was probably prepared sous vide and very soft, but not flakey, reminiscent of aged sashimi. It was quite difficult to cut given the sometimes fibrous texture and the large slab felt clunky, monotonous, and indelicate, quite unlike our other dishes. Lovely little loaves of warm, brown kalamata bread were brought to the table after our first course was cleared, with little volcano-shaped ramekins of good butter alongside, sprinkled with perhaps Maldon sea salt. Second courses: Celtuce (grilled / cucumber / buddha's hand) -- I didn't get to try more than a teeny bite. But what I tried of it (mostly the sauce) was slightly citrusy, very complex and pleasantly light on the palate. Scallop (lightly smoked / gold ossetra caviar / champagne hazelnut) -- Two generously sized, sweet and delicate sea scallops were served with more of that excellent caviar (an ingredient that makes frequent cameos). This was my favorite dish and probably one of the best scallop preparations in the City. Langoustine (slightly cooked / stuffed zita / swarnadwipa / green curry): I could not pin it to any specific culinary tradition, but the curry worked well and not compete with with sweet langoustine. Third courses: Kampachi (barely grilled / combawa / château-chalon): A generous portion of what was essentially kampachi sashimi was very gently dressed with the tiniest touch of lime, cilantro, scallion, and (I think) sea beans, with a light drizzle of a thin, umami-rich, savory sauce. Squab (racan / roasted / fukushu kumquat / toast à gratin / sauce diable): Pigeonneau de Racan was exceptionally tender and juicy, the liver pate in a pastry shell rich. A pretty orange quenelle of something kumquat-y balanced the fat. Iberico Pork (presa de bellota / sweet peas & chorizo / jalapeño condiment / omija berries jus): A well raised, high quality product from acorn-fed, free-range pigs. Sweet, tart omija berry jus was the perfect foil, a bit reminiscent of cranberry sauce. Desserts: La Tarte au Chocolat (warm / roasted vanilla ice cream): Classic and uncomplicated, the ice cream was scented with pleasantly rounded and understated natural vanilla. La Framboise (crispy fine feuilles / linzer / madagascar vanilla): This confection was simple, yet elegant, strongly leading with the pure flavors of fresh raspberries. Le Soufflé (orange marmalade / green cardamom ice cream): The soufflé was beautifully made, impossibly light and airy, delicately scented with bitter orange. The accompanying green cardamom ice cream stole the show. All around a lovely meal and a lovely evening. We love Chef Christophe Bellanca's mashups of culinary cultures. They're fun and they work!

The attention to every meticulous element, from pacing to presentation, created a dining experience that felt truly special. The meal itself was extraordinary. Each course was not only beautifully executed but deeply flavorful and thoughtfully composed. The Mushroom Cappuccino was a perfect start rich, earthy, and comforting with incredible depth. The sweet potato with madeira reduction was a standout, balancing sweetness and richness with elegance. Le Royale was indulgent and refined, while the blue prawns were cooked to perfection delicate and bursting with flavor. Le Tropical brought a bright, refreshing contrast that tied the progression of the meal together beautifully. Even the bread service deserves recognition often overlooked, but here it was exceptional. Paired with the Winter Harvest Highball and the No. 3, the beverage program matched the food in both creativity and execution. What truly elevated the evening was having the pleasure of meeting Chef Christophe and touring the kitchen. He was incredibly down to earth, and his philosophy about food thoughtful, intentional, and rooted in passion clearly shines through in every dish. Every bite was delicious, every detail intentional. This is dining at the highest level refined, memorable, and truly deserving of its Michelin star. I can't wait to return.

None of the dishes were a miss: Tostada Ensenada (4/5): Was she a tad petite for $27? Perhaps. Was she overflowing with seafood? Pretty damn close, because I was not disappointed and in fact had many juicy chunks of shrimp and octopus on that tostada. Baked Clams (5/5): I mean, chorizo, garlic, breadcrumbs - literally all I could dream for in a baked clam. Would order a whole platter of them if I could. Branzino a las Brasas (4/5): taste-wise, the fish itself was pretty bland, but texture-wise it was perfectly moist, and the cook on it made for the silkiest and softest fillet. Now what REALLY exceeded our expectations were the TORTILLAS that came with the branzino. Nothing complex, but it was the best tortilla I've ever had. Fideo Seco (5/5): did not expect pasta to steal the spotlight, but this was undeniably delicious. There's something about that cream sauce, which worked really well with the lobster. The fideo pasta they use is also so fascinating, like smaller strands of angel hair. Passionfruit sorbet (4/5): I love passionfruit so you can't go wrong with this - refreshingly tangy and acidic, maybe could've been a little less icy imo. Molten chocolate cake (5/5): didn't expect to splurge on dessert but did not regret it - the chocolate was so decadent without being overpoweringly sweet + moist cake! The interior is clean and has a rustic charm to it, would definitely recommend for a nice dinner date. Service was super attentive and friendly, really appreciated that - would love to come back when my wallet recovers!

It's definitely a more elevated take on Mexican coastal cuisine. Fideo Seco (4.5/5): The highlight of the night. The creaminess paired with the lobster was great. Grilled Octopus (4.25/5): cooked just right and paired with a unique, crispy sweet potato which made it fun to eat. Baked Clams (4/5): Delicious, though $21 for only 5 pieces felt a bit steep. Fajitas Nortenas (4/5): The steak could have been more tender, but the flavor was great--especially when paired with their excellent corn tortillas. Tacos de Langosta (4/5): A solid taco, but not exactly a "must-order." For $28, getting only two tacos felt a bit steep for what it was Skip the Drinks: Both the Watermelon Margarita and Passion Fruit Mojito felt overly strong and lacked a unique flavor profile Save Room for Dessert: Surprisingly impressive! The Chocolate Molten wasn't overly sweet, and the Strawberry Flan featured rhubarb that paired perfectly with the custard. A great spot for a high-end seafood dinner, though the drinks didn't quite live up to the food.
