Melty and yummy! Cashew raspberry ice cream

Don't miss out! Coventry has ice cream and farm fresh goodies! They have an extensive list of ice cream flavors and a cute farm stand outside. We picked up some onions and a bunch of kale on our way out. Prices are reasonable and the staff were well prepared for a rush of customers. Also, look at this view! Super cute stop and perfect after a day at French Creek State Park.

Pottstown, Pa., is an interesting old city. We dropped into it late in the afternoon after a day in the heat of French Creek State Park and Hopewell Furnace National Historic Site. I was feeling the effects of the 90F temp, and needed hydration and a little nourishment. First choice was a tour of Yuengling Brewery, but I had confused Pottsville with Pottstown, and would have been too late anyway. (Should have looked further and found Sly Fox Brewery, but that will have to wait.) Second choice was to find the nearest dairy bar and settle in for some fresh cool creamy ice cream and a burger. Yelp Search found Coventry Parlor at Laurel Locks, not 10 minutes away from Main Street. Not too many reviews, but a little more pioneering today wouldn't hurt. Actually in Coventry Township, the Laurel Locks refer to both the canal built there to connect with the Schuylkill River canal system, and the large farm that took root there in the early 18th Century. Another little remembered historic fact was that this area was the home of the a small religious sect called the Stubblebines, whose moral code allowed nudity and cohabitation; giving this locale the name, "Free Love Valley," in the early 19th Century. It all got out of control, with murder and jealousy rampant. The group died out by the mid 1800's, when self- proclaimed prophet, Hannah Williamson, caught the last wagon train out of town heading west. So, we settled on a couple of burgers and split a Cashew Raspberry Shake. The shake was thick with nuts and ice cream, and was quite refreshingly creamy sweet. The burgers were something else. Past well done, they were crunchy and almost beyond redemption. I was too weary to bring it to the server's attention. It came with store bought bun, cheap chips (not even Herr's), and a soft pickle. If not for affording the opportunity to learn about the fascinating history of this community, I would have departed disappointed by the grub here. I just won't look past the front retail ice cream shop next time, should that come to pass.

I'll start with the positives.. the workers were really nice and the place was cute (grandma vibes…read more/quirky). Okay now onto the other stuff. When we went, most of their coffee specials were sold out. They're also dairy free but why don't they advertise that? We had people after us also ask for dairy milk too. We ordered one of their spring lattes and a cortado and the barista asked "hot or iced" for the cortado. I don't think I've ever had an iced cortado in my life. When i got my regular cortado (hot), it was in a 10-12 oz cup (look at my picture of the cortado cup vs my medium latte) and don't get me wrong.. i do love that because it's huge but .. as a coffee roaster... y'all don't do the typical cortado size? It was weird to me. Like they just opened a coffee roaster/coffee shop but don't really know the coffee basics? The espresso shot pulled was also pretty sour. I don't think I've ever had a bad shot with a coffee roaster shop but this one is an exception i guess. Spring latte was also not good. Syrup was nonexistent in flavor and latte was watery. If you were to come here & want a hot latte, just order a hot cortado. You'd get more bang for your buck.

Great service although I was upset that they didn't have the sour dough. I was asked if I wanted…read moreeverything bagel but that would've been an extra charge. So I (begrudgingly in my head) went with plain. I tried to come here yesterday but they closed at 3 PM and this was not mentioned on their IG either. I tried to come here around 445 PM because I had a gift card to use up. The chick pea sandwich isn't too shabby with the buffalo flavor. I think it would've bored me without it. Maybe lettuce and tomato would make this stand out but this place might not get the traffic to try to maintain lettuce and tomato in theory facility. The strawberry crunch donut has good flavor on the outside and inside. They took my food away before I could finish it. One of my drinks still had stuff in it too. A bit upset about that. Guess I should let the staff know next time so that they didn't think I left as I had to go to the bathroom badly. I know it can be hard to tell if someone is leaving food for waste which I hate to do but it was also respectable quality too. Maybe I shouldn't complain because I ended up wanting to go to the Phoenixville Farmer's market the next day and then picked up a hat I forgot about from Blue Label Men's Grooming right before I left Phoenixville. Though I am a Yelp reviewer and I like to complain too.

When I visited her stand, she had muffins, tarts and cupcakes for sale. She had a very limited selection of cupcakes --- red velvet, all vanilla and carrot cake. I bought 1 red velvet and 1 carrot cake. At $1.25 per cupcake, they are amazingly inexpensive! Later that day, my husband and I tried them. I tried the red velvet and was impressed. If she had bumped up the cocoa flavoring in the cake part just a bit, it would have been 5 star worthy. The cake was moist. As for the frosting, it was cream cheese and the portion size was just right so that it didn't overtake the cake part plus it was just sweet enough. My husband thought the carrot cake one was one of the best carrot cakes he had ever tried. It, too, had cream cheese frosting and was garnished with some shredded carrot. He said that there were currants in the cake. However, he thought that she could have cut down on the amount of currants as the cake was moist and with so many currants, it crumbled very easily. He also said that he thought that she was selling her cupcakes for too little money! That said, these cupcakes aren't very big but some competitors sell similar sized ones for more money. I wish that I had remembered to take a photo. By the time I remembered, we had both devoured our cupcakes LOL!. If you are ever in Zern's Farmers Market, do stop by and try one. I doubt that you would be disappointed!

For how much I paid for it I was expecting a more professional looking cake. My guests said the cake wasnt very good at all and the frosting tasted like cigarette smoke. No one finished it, Not even the kids. it was very disappointing. if I had paid $40 for it I would have said I got what I paid for but for $128 it was even more upsetting. And I will say this is the first bad review I have ever given on anything. I don't like doing reviews at all but in this case I just think people should know.
