We came here late Saturday night. They ate one of the few places open in the area that late. It was crowded but no wait. They were open until 11 for food, 1am for the bar. Staff was friendly. There is seating inside and outside. Pretty big bar but it was filled. There are tvs all over with different games on. The food was very good. We got garlic Parmesan wings to start. Very crispy with good flavor. My only critique is that I wish there was a little more sauce on them. Speaking of wings, they offer free wings on your birthday. Check the rules and restrictions listed on the menu. I got the Rodeo Burger. It had cheddar cheese, bacon and bbq sauce. You also get a side of onion rings instead fries. The onion rings were amazing. They felt like they were melting in my mouth. I took some and added it to my burger to enhance it. It actually got more crowded the later it got. I will definitely be coming back to try some of the other menu items.

Rhode Island wings. They're just seasoned and smothered. Good, but the chopped peppers fall off, leaving you eating a plain wing.

My friend had her birthday party here, because unlike TK's (I'm sorry to report), Cover Two will give thirty free wings to the birthday boy or girl. Great! Let's invite everyone! First, their parking lot is way too small. It fills up fast, leaving you hunting for street parking. The spaces reserved for other businesses will leave you looking for street parking -- which, oddly enough, was closer to the entrance. Once we got inside, we found our large party crammed into a bunch of squished-together tables because the restaurant forgot to write down the reservation! On a football Sunday, we now had families with toddlers, not in the semi-private back room, but almost sitting on top of people screaming at the TV's alongside the usual dinner service. I could tell the staff was trying, but the overcrowded situation led to sloppy, slow, and inattentive service, repeated shouting of our orders and the subsequent corrections, and many of us staring at empty plates and cups. Still, a few party guests wound up leaving early because of the awful experience, one trio not even staying long enough to order. Forget about conversations, too; the din of the games, football fans, diners, kids, guests, and waitresses morphed into a nondescript discord. The food was okay. The wings we shared were juicy and the sauces good. I'd ordered the Rhode Island wings, which were something I'd never seen before. While I enjoyed them, they were only plain wings and pickled cherry peppers. The combination works much better on fried calamari. I'm told the sandwiches and fries were great. All in all, we left Cover Two with ears ringing, stomachs not full, kids crying, money somewhat wasted, and a birthday party we'd all sooner forget. Needless to say, the unprofessionalism of this place means that free wings won't be enough to get me back here anytime soon.

We went for lunch on a rainy day on the advice of a friend. The place was terrific! Eat the tomato soup. OMG it was the best soup I've ever had. We also split the steak burger which was perfect- go to Cover Two! you'll love it.

Everything you could want in a sports bar: great food, lots of drink options, and a busy atmosphere with tvs everywhere. The servers are very attentive and hard working. The owners just switched over and seem very friendly. Still the same excellent quality across the board. My favorite wing flavor is "the mistake" which is a mix of old bay seasoning and buffalo sauce! The pretzels are soft and served perfectly warm. The cheesesteak never fails whether you get it as a wedge or egg rolls.

Service was great! It's a sports bar, so quite loud but fun. Enjoyed the cocktail, autumn in Connecticut, dangerously good. Jerk wings were one of the best in my opinion. Everyone loved their big papi's burger, HUGE at a very reasonable price and I liked the steamed clams, fresh and tasty, double order for me and I probably could've had another order. Calamari was just okay. I'd definitely be back.

This was the mango habanero wings and garlic parm, French onion soup and waffle fries! I wish I had a picture before we ate lol! Delicious

We frequent here somewhat often. It's a great home style bar restaurant. The food is always prepared very well. They have really great service and a very friendly environment. Plus they have a Ben Mason framed and hung on the wall. Great Michigan Wolverine fullback who is from Newtown and played there. Being a huge fan , that's always a plus lol!! So as far as the food, their wings are delicious, great flavors and always cooked well. French onion soup was tasty and had a lot of onions in it. Wife has the steak and cheese and it was delicious, bread was awesome and the veggies were fresh and sautéed well. Fried pickles were also very very good. One of the better ones I have eaten out. A tad salty but it worked very well and i enjoyed the dipping sauce. We do come here and it is one of our staple places. Never disappointed

So we have been to Cover Two a few times and I have never done a review. I decided this time I would give the restaurant its due props. This is a very casual sports bar in the downtown area of Sandy Hook. It is well known and liked by the local residents. When we first moved to the area, more than one person told us to check it out. It's usually busy when we go whether it is for lunch or dinner but never so busy that we can't get a table indoor or outdoors (they have quite a few outdoor tables which helps). I should say we have never had to make a reservation etc (not sure they even take those to tell you the truth... think it's a first come first serve kind of place?) While busy they are always staffed extremely well and we have had great efficient and nicely attentive service! The food menu is pretty extensive and has typical American fare along with a few Italian dishes mixed in. They have great wings and they are always serving those up... quite a popular item! We have tried their burgers (quite big and delicious), sandwiches, and salads (great dressings and selection). Recently I got their lobster grilled cheese which was fabulous. The lobster was plentiful nicely done and they put a tarragon aioli on it which was wonderful! Their Cole slaw.... for all the Cole slaw lovers out there.....is excellent. I often pick that over fries (dare I say it?). I also love that they have some pretty good cocktails. For a casual bar, I think that is amazing! I love their espresso martini and often go that route. All in all a totally great casual dining spot in town that has the love of the locals and it should! We will continue to be frequent guests here.

Part of the bar area with just three of the TV's

Nice local spot to grab a bite and watch the game. Lots of big screen TV's and food was good. Nice beer selection as well

As a proud, card-carrying member of the "Find the Best Wings in Connecticut" father-son tour, I…read morehave to start by tipping my hat to my fellow Yelpers... because you were absolutely right. My son and I rolled into TK's American Cafe with high hopes and empty stomachs, ready to see if this stop could challenge the reigning champions of our wing universe: J. Timothy's Taverne and The Groggy Frog. Punchline: It didn't dethrone the champs... but the experience itself was still pretty great. First, the atmosphere is fantastic. Old wooden booths, high tops, TVs right at the table, KENO(!!!), and that perfect slightly chaotic sports-bar energy that tells you wings are about to happen. The décor fits the town vibe perfectly and the place just feels like a wing institution. The service? Excellent. Friendly, attentive, and genuinely enthusiastic -- exactly the kind of crew you want guiding you through 70+ wing sauces like a sommelier of poultry. Now... the wings. The chicken itself was excellent quality and cooked perfectly. Crispy skin, juicy meat, great size -- everything you want when the wings arrive. When we saw the massive sauce selection, we were ready for wing nirvana. But this is where the prophecy of Yelp reviews past came true. The sauces were delicious in flavor... but thin in viscosity. Instead of lovingly clinging to the wings like a good sauce should, many of them staged a dramatic escape and formed a puddle at the bottom of the platter. So instead of eating wings, we spent half the meal doing a sort of wing-dunking relay, re-dipping each bite back into the sauce lagoon. To be fair, the teriyaki and barbecue-based sauces held on better, but if you're a classic hot-sauce wing person like me, you may find your wings swimming more than sticking. The blue cheese was excellent, the celery and veggies were fresh and crisp... although the carrots were so wide they looked like they were cut for a horse with impressive jaw strength. Credit where it's due: the steak fries were fantastic, and the nachos were surprisingly great -- the kind that taste like something you could make at home... except somehow way better. So where do we land? Great atmosphere. Excellent service. Very good food overall. But on the Connecticut Wing Power Rankings, the crown still belongs to J. Timothy's and The Groggy Frog. Would I come back? Maybe... but on the drive home we passed about six intriguing Brazilian restaurants and a Pepe's pizza, and suddenly my lunch decision tree got complicated. Still, I'm glad we tried it. TK's is a fun spot with a great vibe -- just maybe bring a spoon so you can scoop the sauce back onto your wings. PS: if you stick blend/emulsify some xanthan gum into the wing sauce when you're making it hot... It will stick perfectly to the wings... In case improvement is something you're interested in
