Just tried getting a quote through Chris Robinson. Most awkward, least helpful conversation I've ever had with an insurance agent. He started spewing lots of acronyms at me asking about my other quotes from other agencies. I told him I already had a quote from Mercury and gave him my address. I've worked with this agency for 10 years now, and most recently with Chris Robinson, who is superb. One advantage of working with an insurance broker, as opposed to an agent for a specific insurance company, is that the broker has contacts across an array of insurance companies. So a broker will be able to find the best fit for a given insurance need, without being restricted to a single insurance company. I've always found Coverage Plus to be very responsive to my needs -- any question I email them gets replied to quickly, and without solicitation to sell me additional insurance I don't need. Their customer service, be it by phone, email, or letter, is second to none. Most recently, my wife and I bought a house and Chris worked with our lender to ensure all the home owner's insurance requirements were satisfied. This wasn't trivial. We're doing a rather lengthy rent back to the now-former owners, and many insurance companies limit or outright disallow rent-backs, as it turns out. My first few years with Covplus were fine-- no issues and they signed me up with a good insurance company. But now with my 2nd insurance company through Covplus, I just had my auto insurance price change on me by a double-digit %. I found out from the insurance company, NOT from Covplus. There are so many options for car insurance brokers and car insurance. The customer values integrity and clear communication, first and foremost. I will not be renewing-- I don't need more surprises with increases in bills mid-term. Edit: Chris called me up and apologized for the miscommunication. After I made several phone calls and did some digging around for some time, I pulled up the required documentation that Mercury needed. This still wasn't the ideal way to find out about an increased bill, but Chris and team made an effort to make things right. I am changing the stars on the review accordingly. read more

Horrible insurance company with terrible agents. Nora Ortiz, who "helped" us, was horrible. We had just bought a car and couldn't leave the dealer without insurance, and since we were new to the country, we hadn't much knowledge about how this works. Unfortunately, this was the company our car dealer worked with. The agent was late and we had been there all day, so we just wanted to get it over with. She was rude and unfriendly, kept chewing gum, and even conducted private telephone conversations in Spanish during our interaction. Her portable credit card reader would accept our cards, but when we got back, they had put a hold on the amount three times, which took forever to get back. I totally agree with Yinsu C. I bough a car from a dealer and the sales gave a number let me to call. I was totally no ideal about any car insurance and have no time to compare rate. The sale gave me a total number but didn't mention the agent fee at all. And then few weeks later, I start wondering the rate v.s policy. I just call 2-3 insurance companies, any of that provide me lower rate that that agent. Worse part, that agent didn't even save my information correctly~~~ oh my GOD. COMPLETELY disagree with the first two reviews. Coverage Plus was very professional, prompt and polite. They made me feel like I was an actual person instead of just a number on an insurance policy. I wanted to switch from Mercury/AIS and challenged them to match or beat my current insurance payments. Chris Robinson got back to me within one working day, and saved me 25% on my insurance with the exact same coverage. It's well known that the big guys advertizing on TV can cut your bill by changing your limits or diminishing your current coverage. They will do this without telling you. There is a tendency that people who receive good service are less likely to leave reviews online. I'm feeling compelled to say something about Coverage Plus, especially Chris Robinson. Chris had helped me set up great auto insurance policy in my early days in the states, at a quite reasonable premium. What I really want to talk about is the experience of my recent communication with Chris, regarding my policy renewal. The insurance company raised my premium even I didn't get any ticket or change any condition in the last policy period. So I touched base with Chris to explore new opportunities. He answered all my questions promptly and clearly, and helped compare 2 new policy offers. And finally I asked him to issue one of the policy which was pretty good. Then another insurance company to which I filled out an online quote request earlier came back to me with a better (IMO) quote. So I asked Chris to cancel the already issued policy (not yet started though as my old policy was still covering at that time). It could be imagined how frustrated it was to Chris, after spending hours on this matter. But ! he still acted promptly on my request and replied to my emails as fast as before. And the cancellation process was smooth. In sum, Chris and Coverage Plus customer service work very efficiently and professionally. read more

They connected me with the insurance companies I have never heard of in my life. They just took my $200 commission and provided me the worst service. As a customer, I was not treated with respect. This insurance agency is a FRAUD. I was referred to him when purchasing my car because at the time I didn't have proper insurance to drive it off the lot. I spoke to Chris Robinson. I told him over the phone I had AAA insurance and only simply wanted to adjust my plan. He said that he couldn't change my current plan because he was only a broker, but that he'd sign me up for a new AAA insurance plan and then I could call AAA the next day to cancel my old one. During the sign up progress, which was entirely done over the phone, he mentioned a one time $150 fee. When I inquired about the fee he said it was a one time fee that AAA charged for new plans. Not knowing any better, I agreed to it. After our phone call he faxed over the paperwork to the dealership for me to sign... nowhere on the paperwork did it mention anything about a $150 fee or AAA insurance, just that I was signing up for insurance with him as my broker through his agency. I called him up to inquire about this and he said that there was more paperwork to be done the next day for it to fully take effect. Well a week went by and I finally got something in the mail from a no-name insurance company called Infinity Insurance. I quickly call up Chris to find out what was going on and he said everything was done correctly. I told him I asked for AAA insurance and he said I was lying and that I must had been confused. He said he never mentioned he was a AAA broker. When I asked for a refund of the $150 he refused to give me one... he said it was his "broker fee" for setting up Infinity Insurance for me.
