Service is awful and food is mediocre at best. Some ladies in my family decided to go out to breakfast here. We called and confirmed they had seating, they said yes. When we got there we had to wait outside for around 20 minutes. No big deal. When we were seated it took about 30 minutes before our orders were even taken. The only good thing about this entire thing was the young boy who always made sure we had coffee and water. When the owner came to take our orders, one of the ladies in our group, who is vegetarian, kindly asked for the bacon that came with her meal to be put on a separate plate. The owner looked at her like she was stupid and rudely asks "why? What are you afraid of it touching?" Others in the group chimed in politely trying to explain that she doesn't eat meat and wants to have is seperate so she can share it with the others at the table. The owner then rudely says, "well it's not gonna be touching anything." And then when we tried to explain again that we just please would like it on a separate plate and she argued about how it wouldn't be contaminating the other items on the plate, then she goes "Nevermind! I'll figure it out!" We had noticed lots of other groups who had come in after us being served their food while ours was still no where to be found. After ordering, we waited like an hour and 30 minutes and were about to leave and then the owner returned to the table to tell us that she "forgot to submit the order to the kitchen" and put her hands on a lady at our tables shoulders and laughed while telling us we should've heard what she said to her workers, basically telling us she cussed her kitchen staff out about why our order wasn't ready and told them to drop everything to do ours first...even though it was her fault. When the food finally arrived, it was mediocre at best. The worst thing was an omlet that was like two inches thick of flavorless egg with a salad in the middle. The owner offered no discount for her mistake and the only time she was nice was when it came time for us to pay. Wont be coming back here again. read more

We love the food there, and that's why we kept going back. However, after dealing with this women the last 2 times we've been there, I won't be back! She has horrible customer service! The rest of the staff is great, but she's extremely rude and unprofessional! I called to place a to go order, and she said we're not doing to go orders today. So I figured they are probably busy, and that's why they aren't doing to go's. I was already on my way, so I went into the restaurant and asked if I could do a to go order. The place is so charming and cozy!! The food is a good portion for the price and with the price! The staff attention is lacking- especially for a small town local spot. I wish I could be all fanfare and blow smoke at you but here is the deal. I ordered a breakfast. Omelette with a biscuit, hashbrowns, and a coffee on the side. The omelette look like a two egg omelette not a 3 egg. So small. Flavor was just a standard omelette. The biscuit was the size of a mini muffin. I don't know what was up with that because I had ordered their biscuits before and they were a good size but this thing was a one bite wonder. Which is a shame because the actual taste of the biscuit was great. It just was built for a one year old. But the hash browns was a joke. I actually stack 2 quarters on themselves and that was the height of their hash browns. The worst part is I could see right through to the plate because that wasn't a full serving of hashbrowns. I left hungry and a little frustrated because I tend to only go out maybe once a month. Love their biscuits and gravy with a side of thick bacon. Make sure you sit down inside near the main windows and show the fantastic populace in the area, that your time in their place is worth the meal. The food is very good. I love the hours and the service is good too. But the best thing is every Thanksgiving, they bring the seniors in my complex two dinners. Yep, free. While I won't point out names, one waitress in particular was wearing her mask very incorrectly down to her chin almost as well as letting people in without masks... This small-town cafe (and pretty much the rest of Stayton) reminds me of my midwestern hometown, in all the best ways. The Covered Bridge serves solid, simple american breakfasts. My friends have all been talking about this restaurant so I bought a Groupon and headed out there for breakfast. Let me just list the issues: * We waited about 35 minutes for out food. * The waitress was not responsive, asked for condiments and never received them * Pancakes were paper thin and ended up ordering more which took 30 minutes to get because "the burnt the first ones". They must not have cleaned the grill because the second ones tasted burnt also *Hashbrowns were cold in the middle and burnt on the outside. * friend ordered a menu item, they didn't have it. She then ordered a special, they didn't have it. She settled on a veggie omelet that when she received it the vegetables were not cooked and it looked like a salad between two layers of eggs. *Wifi Hotspot that they advertise was not working so I could not use Groupon anyway. It was a horrible experience and I will be calling Groupon for a refund! On a positive note: the busgirls were great! Always refilling drinks and bringing things as needed. read more

Down home cooking and large (VERY LARGE) portions! If you have a small appetite, the Covered Bridge Cafe in Stayton is not for you, however, if you don't mind taking a bit home with you, you will not be disappointed. My partner and I eat here at least twice a month, usually on Sunday mornings for breakfast. (If you go for breakfast on Sunday, be sure to get there before 10 a.m. otherwise you will have a wait due to the many church services in the area letting out.) As has been previously stated by another reviewer, just come in and grab a table, there is no one to seat you. Once seated the wait staff will bring you menus, water and your setup. The menu is extensive and all items are available all day, but they excel in their omelets. My partner seems to always gravitate to their Bell Ringer and can never finish it. Each omelet comes with toast of your choice, hashbrowns, a meat. What more can you ask for from a country breakfast. On our last visit, I tried their Corned Beef Hash, and was pleasantly pleased to find that it was all home made and not from a Sysco can! The meal was perfectly cooked, and served piping hot! Price point for this restaurant is amazingly low for the amount and quality of the food, and you will not find a better bargain anywhere! We sat with our 5-year-old grandson for over 30 minutes with just a few people in there and waited and waited and waited for our food. The food was good. Nothing wrong with that. But the girls were so busy in the back talking and entertaining each other. Just too busy to take care of there customers. If you want horrible service along with some subpar food, go ahead and head down to Covered Bridge Cafe. I love the small town of Stayton and its charm and this restaurant does NOT give a good example of what this town has to offer. They USED to be an exceptional breakfast/brunch spot and my husband and I would come for some pretty decent food. However, last time we we went in we were ignored by our waitress. She took our orders, brought our food, and then was not seen again until she wanted us to pay our check. No refills on our drinks, no checking in to see if we needed anything. And then when she finally came to take our check, we asked for boxes and waited and never received. So we had to go up front and ask for boxes after waiting. The times she did talk to us, she was rude and acted like we were bothering her by just being there. Lastly, the food had taken a serious dump in quality as well, so that couldn't even make up for the lousy service. I will never come back here unless they get new attitudes. "Shut Up and Eat Your Bacon" might be a silly slogan, but it's actually how they treat their customers. A family member of mine recently came in and had a bad experience with one of the employees being snobby and rude as well, so at least I know it wasn't just a one time deal. I read reviews that said the food was great and others that the service wasn't good. We decided to give it a try and I'd have to agree with both. The food was good, Corned Beef hash hubby ordered was good. I asked about the French Toast and indicated I wanted the "special", specifically asked about it. Apparently she wasn't listening and when it arrived I got "regular" with no bacon. When I asked about the bacon she said that was with the chef special. I indicated that is what I had wanted and so she asked me what I wanted to do about it. Really? Any other place would have taken back the order and corrected it. So I ordered another breakfast, ate one piece. It was good and so was the bacon. Had to ask multiple times for a "to go" box and finally had to go inside and get one. If I was to go back I'd mentally prepare myself for a waitress that I had to repeat everything back and be specific. I watched her with others and it appeared that she had her mind made up prior to the person finishing telling her. So, I paid for 3 breakfasts. Fortunately I had grandsons the next day and gave them the reheated french toast. Would I go back? Ummm, not to sure.
