I have honestly never tried their food and now I never will. It's a fairly snowy/icy day here in Stayton so I wanted to call to make sure they were open. I did just that and got an extremely rude response from a very grumpy person. The icing on the cake was when she thought I had hung up she proceeded to make fun of me to her coworker's. I am giving it a 2 instead of 1 because I am not able to comment on the quality of the food. Hopefully the food outweighs the attitude. read more

Crunchy French Toast? Saw it on the menu where it was labeled as a house specialty. It was described to me as a couple of cinnamon rolls dipped in French toast batter, then rolled in corn flakes and pan fried. Since I like French toast and cinnamon rolls (I know, I know, when did dessert become breakfast), and I'm a sucker for something different, I gave it a whirl. I should have whirled it back. An unadulterated cinnamon roll came with the two gloppy and flakey blobs, only further underlying the fact that you shouldn't mess with something like a good cinnamon roll. The accompanying bacon was thick-cut and quite good. My wife had a more everyday breakfast of scrambled eggs and country sausage and declared it pretty good. It was nice that they allowed her to substitute sliced tomatoes for the potatoes that seem to accompanying most breakfast plates in these parts. The wife's from Georgia and hasn't found a good grit on the west coast yet. The restaurant is busy and friendly and the servers do a good job. As far as diners go, this place was tasty! The coffee was good, the ingredients seemed fresh, and everyone in our party of four enjoyed their breakfast. Service was awkward at times, but we were in and out in a reasonable amount of time, and satisfied. read more

The portions are big and usually decent tasting. The potatoes are hit or miss. Service is a little slow and lacks attention to detail. Be prepared to ask several times for OJ or a glass of water. This moring they were blasting Christian rock on the radio. I won't digress into a music review, but I also will not be returning anytime soon. read more

Worst hamburger I have ever seen!!! I had heard good things about this place but - I ordered a hamburger with cheese off the kids menu for my three year old. The patty was half as thin as a McDonald's cheeseburger and nearly as dry as jerky. I figured she was being extra picky... I sank my teeth into it and immediately removed them from the burger. My breakfast was an omelette with home fries. It was decent but not fresh tasting. None of the wait staff came by to ask how our food was. Won't go again. read more

WOW!!! Are all these negative reviewers eating at the same place I am??? I am just happy as can be that there is a place in Stayton that serves up as good a plate as the CBC does. I must say, it often takes some extra time to get your meal, but if it means getting it right, take all the time you want or need. I got a Clubhouse sandwich the other day that was excellent and even the side salad was purely exemplary. The obvious care that went into this salad was obviously what took a couple of extra minutes.. DAYUM it was good. Now I tend to tip well and share a light and fun attitude with my waitstaff. This usually breeds a nice relationship and the returns I get from a staff that wishes to be friendly are usually, solidly positive. If I might suggest, have a cup of coffee before you leave home, kiss the better half G-bye, and listen to OPB to give your Grumpy-Ass a smile on your face and a more hopeful outlook on the day.. The one star, for the food. The service, Terrible, terrible, terrible. Did I say terrible. One you lady came to our table and asked for our drink order. My wife ordered coffee, I ordered coffee and water. What we got, nothing. Another waitress came and I was't paying attention, so my wife ordered us each a coffee, which we did receive. A short time after, another waitress came by and I asked her for a water, she said, "sure thing." Then got a napkin for another patron and continued cleaning tables. While waiting for our food, another waitress came by and topped off the coffee. When our waitress brought our food, I asked again for water, and once again it never came. After getting our food, no one visited our table until five minutes after we finished eating, and asked us if we wanted coffee. read more

We had a great breakfast at the Covered Bridge Cafe. Our fluffy omelettes were prepared with farm fresh produce and fresh ingredients. My son had the chocolate pancakes that were also fluffy and delicious. The bacon was thick and flavorful and the coffee was good, too. Our server was a great guy and made sure we were happy. After moving to the area a little over a year ago, it looks like we finally found a great breakfast spot. This is huge! Thank you Covered Bridge Cafe. read more

Probably one of the worst breakfasts I've had. Sausage was clearly frozen patties that they microwaved. Eggs had no flavor, not even salt & pepper could help them. Toast was ok, but not great. Didn't even finish what I ordered. Plenty of better places near by! read more

Been going here since I was a kid, but the service and quality I feel has decreased. I used to love there biscuits and gravy but that is mediocre at best now. Mac and cheese is just Kraft made, nothing special for kids. read more

First time there... a little too casual as far as staff goes. Big menu and almost too many options but I saw the patty melt and I hadn't had one for many years but I still remembered how it should taste . I was looking forward to the same traditional melt but what I got was a soggy mess made with red onions and processed cheese. I ate only a little bit before I pushed the plate aside. The waitress came by and picked up my plate and asked me if I was done.... I told her the melt was soggy. She said nothing and walked away. Then I got the bill ( delivered by another staff member) and saw that I was charged $ 8.99 for that ---- ! First time ... last time ! Customer is important... the cook needs to know how to cook properly and if waitress doesn't correct it then you slowly loose customers! read more

Food was delicious but the service was terrible-the saddest part is, the owner was our waitress. The young (maybe 14) hostess was very attentive and checked on us multiple times And when we said we were ready to order she went and found us a server. We actually thought she was our server for how attentive she had been. Our food was brought out by a runner, which is fine, but he didn't even make eye contact and dropped the plates and left. Never once did our server (the owner) come back and it took a solid ten min to get someones attention just to ask for butter. We only got that after walking up to the window where the kitchen puts food out because no one came to our table despite trying to flag down any one of the many servers. the pancake ordered as a side didn't arrive until we completely finished our meals, and that was after waiting to get butter so it's not like we ate quickly. The owner seemed annoyed to even be serving us (and its not like we asked for a million things or any substitutions-she didn't even know we asked for butter because she never came back after taking our order nor was she the one to bring it). Just really turned off at such poor service. we are locals to the small town but that isn't enough to win us over and we likely won't be back. Left the server no tip but gave $4 to the lovely and attentive hostess Who was doing everything she could. read more

The only issues I have are the restrooms are super small, I'm talking Macro. The wait time can be a bit longish if there is any crowd at all. However this aside the servers are very nice and helpful and the food is really good and plenty of it. read more

Stopped for lunch on a recent road trip. Delicious burger. Tillamook cheese and incredible bacon. Nice grilled flavor. The house made chips are crunchy and not greasy. Our server was very friendly and attentive. He even told us how to get to the nearby covered bridge and lovely city park. read more

Went there to have Lunch today and I have to say the not only was the service absolutely horrible but the food was also. We returned the food because nothing was cooked correctly and then decided we wanted to leave and was told we could not leave because they already started to recook the food. They asked the person I was with if she wanted her potato's redone or have hash browns and she was very clear that she did not want hash browns and that is what came back. We told the waitress who was the owner that she did not want hash browns and she said I must of heard you wrong but would not change it. My eggs came back a second time cold and potato's still not cooked. Hard inside. I told then I did not feel I should be charged for food I did not eat and not cooked properly. They said we cooked it you need to pay for it. I got stuck with a $18.00 billl. When I told them I was going to file a complaint I was told to who we are the owners. I have never ever been treated so rude and had such horrible service. All they had to say was we are so sorry and the meal is on us. read more

This was my first trip to this cafe after having the place recommended by more than one person. I'm convinced after my experience there you have to be a local regular or don't waste your time. -I went with a party of 3, two adults and a child. We were sat almost immediately but it took another 5 minutes for menus or water. We received a fork and a spoon each and were assured the knives were coming but they never did. -10 minutes after getting menus someone took our order without writing it down. -The table of two who knew the waitress received their food 10 minutes before we received two thirds of our order. -They brought us the check 8 minutes before bringing the third meal to the table. -My friend's order came out wrong but we didn't make a big deal about that. It was white toast instead of the requested biscuit. It just bothers me when a waitress doesn't write down an order and then gets it wrong. -The table of two sat after us left within 3 minutes of our last meal getting to the table. -It took another 10 minutes to get anyone's attention to ask for steak sauce. This is while the lady who took our order chit chatted with a second group of locals seated next to us. I asked another waiter for the steak sauce and was told they needed to see if any was available. The same waiter walked by us another 3 times walking back and forth to bring drinks and silverware to same group which the first lady helping us was still talking to. -I stopped a third waitress to ask again for steak sauce and she brought the sauce within a minute. This was great other than by now I have a cold steak covered in cold sauce. Not exactly what I was looking for. -To pay you must go to the register where we see two members of the wait staff waiting to take our money. They have their pay system set up so you must fill in your tip on a card on a touch screen in front of servers! This of course pops up with three recommended amounts to choose from. I was not impressed there at all. All in all it felt like someone walking into the local high school ninth grade home economics class and hired the entire staff with the exception of the single older lady who must work there to keep the locals happy. There must have been 5 to 6 wait staff on in a restaurant with no more than 16 tables and they all just seemed to be attempting to help everyone at once. It just felt like they were more about chatting with two or three tables and everyone else can wait. I will say the covered bridge cafe does does have pretty good food and my opinion of them would have been quite different if I had called in an order to go. read more

We waited over 1 HR for our food. Coffee came once. Never again. Waitress only worked on the other side of the room. Had to yell to get any service. Cant give a good rating. And when we finally did get our food. Cold! Yuk. Never again! We don't recommend. read more

When visiting family in Aumsville a couple of weeks ago, we took them to breakfast at this restaurant. We were pretty sure we had made a good choice when we saw how busy it was on an icy cold morning. The food was excellent - generous portions - served by helpful, friendly staff. I've been going to the covered bridge cafe for quite some time and I have to say.. I LOVE IT. Best tator tots and pancakes hands down. I've traveled around the U.S from coast to coast and I mean it when I say the food is excellent. The waitresses are super friendly and on top of their game. The food is brought out fast and warm.. No complaints! They've made it a great welcoming environment and I will continue to go there. Anyone who disagrees should seriously stop being a negative nancy because this place is amazing! read more
