1st time patrons of Appletree Restaurant in Lebanon, Oregon. Service was friendly and no-nonsense. They were very busy on a Sunday morning with full staff who were managing fairly well. Beautiful American traditional decor. Clean and inviting feel. Food was disappointing. Coffee was mediocre. Veggie omelet had only onions, mushrooms, tomato, and olives for vegetables. I would have liked a green veggie like spinach or zucchini to round it off. Hash-browns had a weird taste... not sure if it was the kind of cooking oil they used or what. Sourdough toast tasted like white bread. We might try this place again for good measure, and try something different. read more

So I'd like to start with this. I've eaten at different walk-in restaurants in Linn and Benton County and well when you order food you expect to have everything at least cooked to your liking. Well not saying the food is bad after all few trips back, But this place I went to try again years later was very impressive. I had my usual hash-browns, eggs and sausage, toast, coffee. The Hash-browns were cooked perfectly. It looked like every little potato had a pleasant color on them and the portion was fulfilling. The two eggs were cooked perfectly. Egg yokes were perfect and not even close of being over or under cooked and the white was perfect (nice job). The toast was perfectly toasted. A light brown all over, on all of them and a little soft in the middle. I've had toast that was so hard and dry you couldn't really enjoy them. The sausage were perfect and I mean all look the same. Thick and juicy. Not dry or pink in the middle. The food came like super fast and they did have quite a few people in there. The kudos to the waitress who showed up at the perfect time each time to check on me. The other thing is like she asked me when I ordered if I would like gravy on the side and brought a decent size portion. So all in all I'd say if your by yourself or with friends or family you have to stop and give this place a try. Delicious little mom & pop restaurant in Lebanon, Oregon. Plenty of parking, even if you have an oversized vehicle. We were greeted immediately when we walked in and luckily there was no wait, so we were able to get a table right away. The waitress took our order and our food came out pretty quickly. The food was great. The hash browns were cooked perfectly, crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. The cost was reasonable, and the atmosphere was pleasant. I've lived most of my life in Cali and Hawaii, so I'm a sucker for country food in divey diners with good food and good people. I love the prices here. My go to is their biscuits and gravy. The city folk just don't know how to cook it right. I love the old ambience here. It's very cozy, even has counter seating aside from standard tables and booths. Plenty of space. This place is pretty good...I ordered the Santiam breakfast with a half order of hash browns, the hash browns were my favorite thing. They were super crispy and a big portion. I wasn't crazy about my eggs, they seemed a little undercooked. My husband ordered french toast, he enjoyed it. Our 5 year old got the Mickey mouse pancake with a slice of bacon, she ate all of it and it was only $3.50 or $3.25 for a kids breakfast. Our waitress wasn't rude but she wasn't friendly at all, even when we tried to lighten the mood, make small talk, it was like talking to a wall. Desperate for breakfast during a work trip to Lebanon, we discovered Appletree. Thank god. They were understaffed like everyone else but it was exactly what we needed. The pancakes were incredible. We stopped there for breakfast on Sunday 6/27/20. The food was good. Can't really screw up a pancake. My only issue was the greeter had on a mask, but it only covered her mouth. My boyfriend and I just moved to Lebanon and this is the first Breakfast place we decided to try. We were very impressed with the extremely fast service! We got our food within 5 minutes of ordering. The waitress was incredibly nice and checked on us just enough without being annoying. The food was very yummy and the hash browns cooked just the way I like them, nice and crispy! I would definitely recommend them to anyone looking for a delicious and fast place. This place reminds me of the types of cafes and diners I used to go to when I was growing up and we went on family vacations, we would always find a small restaurant, cafe or diner type place to eat and it was always such a great time. The menu selection is just enough to where you aren't overwhelmed by choices but still have enough items to please everyone. The prices are reasonable enough and the portions are generous enough to make it worth the money and time. The wait staff is always friendly, patient and willing to let you take your time to make sure you get what you want. Even though I don't eat frequently, the times I have, it has been well worth the time to stop in. Also the atmosphere is VERY family friendly, although I don't have any children myself I would guess they offer a kids menu as well. We've been here several times over the past two years. For awhile there it was hit-or-miss, but lately they've been hitting it. They seem to have found good consistent wait and cook staff and we've left there happier the past few times. Or maybe we've just figured out what to order? While breakfast has always been good (and served all day long), and burgers are always a great bet, there are a few items on the menu that they just don't know quite what they're doing with. For example, I love a good chicken-fried steak, but it deserves a great pepper/cream gravy on it and the mediocre sausage gravy they use for their breakfast biscuits and gravy is not appropriate. The mashed potatoes are instant and taste like it, another reason they won't get over three stars from me. The best part of Appletree, in my opinion, is the fact that I can go there and get the traditional christmas turkey and stuffing dinner I crave several times a year, any time of the year. That and the fact that they're open til 9p. (What is up with so many places closing mid-afternoon in Oregon anyway?) Also, their coffee is decent and that goes a long way with me. The worst Lebanon has to offer. Their claim is fresh food. Nothing could be farther from the truth. The biggest disappointment though wasn't the nasty food, or absent waitress, it was the orange juice. My favorite drink in the whole world and I couldn't even choke it down. I told them I didn't want it and to take it back and they still charged me for it. Total BS. To me it seemed like this is a place for regulars only. My wife and I are locals, but not regulars and it was evident in the way we were treated. I guess they figured we were just passing through or something. The only good thing I have to say is the bacon omelet I had was stuffed with bacon. I mean stuffed, very pleasing to a bacon lover, but not good enough to overlook everything else. We were staying next door in the motel and thought we would try the Appletree. Definite mistake. I wanted to try the turkey because so many had spoken highly of it. The turkey itself was good. But the rest of the meal was just ok. My wife wanted chicken strips, they were out of those so they gave her popcorn chicken. We honestly could not tell if they were chicken or clams. Went for dinner the service was subpart the food was overcooked for the majority of the meat. It looked like uncooked sausage in the gravy my 2 year olds food was nuclear hot to where she couldn't eat it. The server's tonight had to ask the same question three times after getting the answer. WOW That was a mistake confusing menu, waitress was no help at all with the menu or her customer service skills, should have left at that point. Food arrived with burnet scrambled eggs that were just all full. My husband toast was burnt-turned over hiding it. Left most of my food. What a waste of money.. 10.95 for crap. Run down, shabby and neglected. It needs closed for a week and deep cleaned. The wait staff is loud and unprofessional. If you are not a "favorite" they are rude and abrupt and downright surly.
