When I checked in with Priscilla, (the owner), I simply asked her about the pet policy. She was hostile and became verbally abusive for no apparent reason. She called me vulgar names and started videoing me with her phone. She was enraged when I asked her for a refund because her pet policy was unreasonable. Was looking for a place to stay for Labor Day weekend. Found this on Airbnb, advertised as dog friendly, and looked cute... that's when the nightmare started. Priscilla the owner is a outright rude, nasty, disgusting, and disrespectful. I inquired as to their rules for pets, and being able to crate my dog. She instantly accused me of animal abuse and threatened to call the police. When challenged she got even more nasty, I cited the law and corrected her and she took offense to this. I am a retired police officer and she accused me of lying then abusing my powers, both couldn't be further from the truth. She just didn't want to admit what she was doing was illegal. Now I am forced to try to get a refund on my stay because she began harassing me through messages, thank god I didn't actually go there after reading all the other reviews. This is a very cute motel right on the river . I arrived late on Friday and the place was empty . I had to call from a little phone next to the office and the owner came right down . She was a cute older polish women who gave me the run down of the area and the reataurant across the street . My room was number 17 and the view of the river were amazing ! The room and the bedding were spotless . My private balcony was great for my friend and I to drink our wine . There was a million Channels on the TV . The heat worked great and the pillows and mattresses were new . My travel buddy and I ate at the Red Fox directly across the street and it was amaazinggg . We walked from our hotel to the covered bridge ( 200 feet away ) and crossed over into this charming little village with a store and a pub and a place for breakfast !! The location of this motel is fantastic!! I had my small dog with me , and we sat in the chairs provided right on the rushing river ! I even used the tree swing ! Did not enjoy my stay in this run down 'lodge'. The smell as you walked from the lobby to the hall was all must, but not in a sexy way. The room was a little less offensive smelling, but the carpet was stained. The bed post was broken, the towels are threadbare, the wall paper is peeling, and there were hairs all over the bathroom that did not belong to me. I had pre-paid upfront and was charged extra fees with no notification for having my dog with me. The website that I booked through made no mention of extra pet fees and I was not informed of this at check-in. I understand paying extra for pets, but I feel that it is inappropriate to charge fees without disclosing or discussing with your guests. As others have mentioned, Owner was quite rude. I want to start this off by saying I am a huge supporter of "mom and pop" type places. But this was such a huge disappointment. My mom booked this place for us for a weekend getaway and based off the pictures on their website, it looked really nice. Wrong. Upon arrival the instant smell of mildew and mold filled your lungs. The bathroom of the room had mold on the floor corners and in the shower corners. The beds were hard as rocks and the carpet looked as if someone smushed food into it. My brother-in law and his friend decided to stay at this motel for 4 nights. My fiancé and I had our own condo down the street and we went over to see them and visit after dinner. At 9:30pm the manager questioned my fiancé and I as to why we were there. We said we were not staying the night, we were just visiting with our family after dinner. At 10pm she called the room and told us we had to leave unless they wanted to get charged for another room. I questioned this as I've never had this happen to me before? The manager FREAKED out on all of us. Calling us names and yelling in our faces. Eventually after getting screamed at, she offered to give us 1/3rd the money to refund the room. After being spoken to the way we were and screamed at, we decided to leave. I asked her if she could please print out a receipt proving the refund, and she got in my face, calling me a f*** b*** and slammed the door in my face. With no proof of refund. Perfect location for skiing Wildcat and Attitash. Very inexpensive. Located directly across the street from a great bar & restaurant so you can chill out after a day on the slopes with good food & cocktails and NOT have to worry about who is driving. Where to start. We were coming up to the mountains for one night. We booked this at the last minute. The whole place smells old, like it needs a deep clean. Our sliding door looks like he hasn't been cleaned in months. When we called to ask if we could check in early since our confirmation said checkin was at 4. The person who answered didn't give a name, and was horribly rude saying "we are way behind already so I doubt it, but call back an hour before checkin." We walked in let me tell you the picture of the "lodge" is VERY deceiving. It does not look like the picture. Wall paper falling off of the walls. The room was like ice when we walked in. The door is as thin as paper. Luckily the bed and pillows aren't to bad and sheets are clean. We did not partake in the "breakfast" after seeing the pictures. It is really a shame because it's a beautiful location and it could be a nice place. Despite all the bad reviews, I inquired today to book a room for Columbus Day weekend and my call was answered by one of the most RUDE and ignorant woman I have ever encountered. She acted like I was bothering her when I asked about availability and kept saying she is not in front of her computer and would call me in a few hours; however, the rooms may be fully booked by then so maybe I should look elsewhere. If this woman's attitude is any indication of the level of accommodations they offer, which I'm sure it is, I will pass. Thankfully it sounds like we dodged a bullet on this one. Other then that, the place absolutely Stinks! I literally had a headache from the stench. The bedding was ild, who knows the last time the comforters were washed. Check the Google reviews, pretty hilarious circumstances. (We did not read the reviews until we realized this place was not what we were expecting). We booked this hotel because it had a good location and was affordable. It also boasted a pool, breakfast, and tennis courts. Pretty sure we confused it with the other Covered Bridge Inn that is a town over. When we first arrived, we could not find the office and then had to call a number, that did not get answered. We did not wait long however and the owner was perfectly pleasant and chatty with us. The room was comfortable but old and a little faded. I found a cockroach soon after we entered and there were moths flying around. There were also dead bugs smashed to the walls and floor. The beds left something to be desired and the slider to the balcony did not open or close with ease. The entire hotel smelled like a wet basement. There was, however, a convenient small fridge in the room. The back of the hotel looks out at a really nice little river and had a few Adirondack chairs surrounding a fire pit. This would have been a really cool little spot if they had lite or offered to light a fire. There was a pool but it was out of commission and apparently, based on other reviews, it has been for sometime. In addition, there was a small slab of concrete that we could only assume were the tennis courts. The next morning, breakfast consisted of 6 lenders bagels, a block of cream cheese that was left out on a plate all morning, and a keurig machine (there was also a sign in the lobby that explicitly limited guests to 2 k-cups per room and each addition cup is $1). In addition, there were no toiletries in the room and the owner was often no where to be found when we needed to ask a question. We also had an extra guest that arrived after we checked in. The owner was going to charge the room $20 for the extra guest (we had booked it with 2 guests) but our friend gave the owner cash and he seemed happy. We did not receive any additional towels or benefits with the additional charge. The Sunday we were checking out, the owner questioned us about a random car in the parking lot, he seemed to not trust that we did have anyone else staying with us. We booked the hotel through Expedia and payed $109 a night not including the additional $20. Based on our experience, it was overpriced and there were a lot of other hotels in the same price range. This hotel should have cost $40 a night at most. Long story short, probably not the best place to stay. read more

NEVER GOING BACK, DATED ROOM, TERRIBLE SERVICE, RUDE STAFF!!! This hotel was mediocre at best. There was no attendant upon check in. You have to call a number and the less than thrilled hotel staff person arrives to checks you in. The staff person leaves after check in. In the morning Each guest is allowed one cup of coffee and a $1.00 charge for each subsequent cup. There is NO continental breakfast or no breakfast at all as advertised! The coffee bar opens at 730 am with a less then plentiful assortment of k cups. We had to walk over an old nasty carpet to get to the hallway leading to our room. The hall was very musty and was not heated. In the room, there were cob webs in the corners and sheet rock tape peeling off the wall in the bathroom. The toilet seat was loose, the Shampoo and/ or conditioner was not available unless you asked, and the towels were dingy. If the neighboring room was using their shower you would be hit with sporadic waves of ice cold water or blazing hot water. There is no maid service!!! The sliding door did not have a handle as it was broken and the door did not slide well. Do not I repeat do not sit on the end of the bed as it lifts off the frame and into the air. When checking out there was no staff at the front desk, once again you have to call to check out and you do not get a check out receipt. I called to check out and asked about incidentals charge. Upon doing so the woman on the phone was rude and told me I was being charged a pet fee. (I did not have a pet) I tried to obtain validation I was not going to be charged and the woman started to insult and yell at me on the phone! Not worth 50 a night never the less over 120! read more

DO NOT STAY HERE!!!! We booked a Queen deluxe room July 2019, however had to cancel due to unforeseen circumstances. So I called to inform the owner, she was pleasant enough and said we couldn't get a refund, however we could use the credit within a year. Fastfoward to this past weekend, and with Covid restrictions loosening, we figured a nice weekend getaway was just what we needed. I called and the woman whoinformed me that a Queen deluxe was not available (of course), so I agreed to a double room. Upon arriving, we did notice the place was old and run down, which we don't mind, if it's clean and we're treated decently. Well that is far from what happened. First no person was at the desk, door was locked and instructions were to use outside phone to call someone, mind you it was like 5 in the afternoon. Then as n older woman appeared, very much out of breath, wearing a mask only on her chin, she was nice enough, then her very unprofessional looking daughter drove up, and said " I'll handle it." We signed paperwork and told our room was room #13, should've known it wasn't going to be good. We entered the room and immediately were hit with the odor of must and mold, it was overwhelming.I always check beds first, well non fitted sheets, mattress from the 60s, and stains everywhere, so disgusting.I checked the bathroom to find dingy yellowed towels.I put the AC on, it was dirty too, but We figured, a cheap motel in NH. And we had our own linens, blankets and pillows, so We would suck it up for 2 days, because it was paid for, close to everything, etc.. Then we tried to go out to our mini deck, and the slider was stuck, (total fire hazard), and the screen was totally ripped letting in mosquitoes and every other bug that you can imagine. we finally managed to open it and stepped out to find this patio was badly in need of cleaning and maintenance. Anyway we tried to look at the river,and not think of the horrible room and were distracted by the incessant yapping of a little dog on the owner's porch next door, so relaxing....not. As we exited our room to go down to the river. I stopped to tell someone about the screen, well the older woman demanded to see it.I showed her, she said quests kick it to get out, ok I said but how do we not get eaten alive by bugs? No response, then I mentioned how dirty the place was she pushed by me and yelled "show me!!" I tried, she walked away. So off I went to the river to take in the only good thing about this joint. My phone rang, I answered and was immediately verbally assaulted by the daughter, who is probably in her 40s and acts like a foul mouthed out of control teen, she was screaming calling me a f@#king animal, saying I'm not in a 5 star hotel (obviously), and all because I complained??? I never raised my voice, I remained calm, she accused me of yelling, it was insane. She must have very deep issues. She is very immature and abusive, I feel bad for exhausted mother if she gets treated like I did, But then again she raised this very rude, out of control, obnoxious person, so maybe not. I have never in my life seen customer service like this, she told me she better not see my face again or else! I asked if she was threatening me, she said I just better not see your face!, and to leave and get off her property! well I can tell you we just sat there in shock and disbelief, Then we returned the key and left, we were going to call police to file a complaint, but we were exhausted and needed to find other accommodations, so we didn't. So they get to keep our money for service not rendered, it's really terrible. How has this person remained in business? the reviews on every travel website and here tell it all! And her responses are just as telling. I wish I researched this motel better, it could be a great place, with the right owners who can put the time and effort in. I want to echo the sentiments of everyone who gave this place a low star rating. I did not stay there, although I had booked. I had a death in the family which prevented me from going. When I went to cancel my reservation the hotel (And Expedia, who I will also never use again) told me they have a zero cancellation policy. I've never heard of such a policy. I arrived late and the lady at the desk who was hesitant to say she was the owner said it was too late to process a refund so I told her I'd be back in the morning. They have a whole skit worked out where the daughter comes out asks if you're staying there and then kicks you off the property. she screams like you're going to harm her and says she's calling the police if you don't leave right away even though I told her I was just here for a refund and had told the lady at the front desk I was coming. I booked my weekend during a 100 degree heat wave because of the pool. I got a song and dance about how the pool was damaged during the bad winter and would cost $15,000 to repair it. From the wife (posted on many sites to warn people): I booked this room online! The room stated it WAS pet friendly and no mention of any fees. I gave notice as requested of my arrival time 11pm. On arrival I was met by a drunk old man who insisted on birating me and my husband for bringing our dogs, one of which is a service dog. We drove 4 hours!!!!! I even spoke to a woman on the phone who said "how dare we show up to a MOTEL at that type of hour". Showing up to motel where you had already booked room and gave notice as requested on arrival time???!! After being told the "mean scary dogs" were not welcome and he wanted to fight my husband on the street I immediately left and was roomless with two dogs in the middle of NH, 4 hours from home! Thank god a policeman down the street recommended the Swiss Challeta Village Inn where there was no problems what so ever!!! I can't even begin to express my disgust for the way a customer was treated and the type of service presented at this place! This man reeked of alcohol and was literally ready to fight my husband in the office!!!!!! All because we showed up with our dogs at a "pet friendly" hotel!!!! Complete disbelief. I read the reviews on this place, they are all terrible and all wrong. This place is perfect if your looking for a quaint little mountain town motel. It's run by a nice old man who is personal and accommodating. The place is clean. It's not the ritz Carlton but for the money you can't beat it. It's not a roach filled dump like the other reviews say. It's got character and it's comfortable. I booked on hotels.com for 99 a night and I've stayed up here a million times spending 150-300 a night at other places and got the exact same thing. If anything they should charge more a night to keep the scumbags out. Alex, the man who runs the desk couldent be nicer spending the evening by the fireplace talking to the guests. Nice view, private balcony and close to everything you would want to do for a weekend in New Hampshire. I'd definitely and will definitely stay again. This hotel is getting 1 star just so that I'm able to write this review and warn others, otherwise it would get none. First off, please do yourself a favor and read the reviews on Trip Advisor. I made the mistake of not doing so and that's where my story begins. My husband and I were staying up in Jackson for a wedding and I mistakenly booked 2 nights at this place without searching reviews more carefully, as we figured we wouldn't be spending much time in our room anyways since my husband was part of the wedding party. Well, as we were driving up there, we finally read the reviews on trip advisor. There were stories of the crazy old man and his even crazier daughter, and pictures of pure filth and crushed bugs on bed sheets. They were frightening and entirely accurate based on our experience. When we arrived for check in, the owner (Alex as we now know him by based on other reviews) continuously badgered my husband about the number of people staying in our room as if he doesn't know how to count. While I did not personally step foot inside the "lodge" my husband did and when we saw the room he said that it smelled atrocious and did not appear to be sanitary . He said he was surprised it hasn't been shut down yet. That same night, we found out that a friend of ours had a place to himself at the much nicer, larger, and cleaner, and friendlier Nordic Village down the road and that it had a pull out couch, so we decided we didn't want to risk infestation and stayed there instead. Since this was a last minute decision, my husband wanted to see if we could just pay for the first night, even though we were no longer staying there and to see if it were a possibility to get refunded for the second night. While yes, it does say that the motel doesn't issue refunds in it's policy, if a motel isn't living up to to healthy human living standards, then you simply aren't getting what you paid for. When my husband and his friend who we were now staying with went back to the Covered Bridge Riverview Lodge to check out and ask about a possible refund, Alex the grumpy old owner swore at my husband and then proceeded to kick him out. All the reviews are spot on. This place was the worst. We were looking for a cheap place to stay. 3 of us stayed in one room with 2 double beds. We were charged an extra $15 for the 3rd person. The place stunk like chemicals and old cigarettes. The TV looked like it was from 1985. The beds were so awfully uncomfortable we got hardly any rest. The whole room just had a dirty feeling. We stayed here by accident, as the website we booked through somehow routed us here rather than the Covered Bridge House BnB n Glen, NH. From talking to other businesses including that location, this apparently happens a lot at this hotel, to the embarrassment of other local establishments. They advertise in-room amenities such as hair dryer, iron and microwave, none of which were in the room and the desk affirmed that they don't leave such items in the rooms. Décor, mattresses and linens didn't appear to have been updated since the 1960s, and while the white towels seemed laundered, they were gray and coarse. There was a bar of soap but no shampoo or other toiletries one would come to expect from a $200/night hotel. The room did have a new flat-screen tv, but it asked for a password to use the cable and there was none. So you got to enjoy one Boston station via antenna. The only thing this place has going for it is location - it is directly next to Jackson's covered bridge, and the Red Fox Pub & Grille across the street is a fantastic eatery. This place is the worst. My stay was les than the time I spent waiting for someone to show up to check in. The smell of stale air and mold was overwhelming. I wish I had spent the money on new sleeping bags and slept outside. When we got to the room we went in, started unpacking, trying to turn this lemon into lemonaid and spruse the 50 year old decor up a bit. Within 15 min I felt fevorish and my face was hot I looked in the mirror and my face was swolen and red. The mold was so bad I had an allergic reaction. This place is a literal health concern. We called the booking agency to try and get us a refund. Old man came to pick a fight with me. This is now second time getting yelled at now by the owner in under a hour. We left had to spend 2 hours trying to find a new place. We went to the ER. They said the benadryl helped. Thank God. I have never had a allergic reaction in my life. This is definitely not a place that I would ever consider staying in again. Not only are the rooms filthy, the beds rock-hard, the refrigerator smelled and had a lake of water in it - but the proprietor is a dick. For the first five to ten minutes that we were checking in, he was incredibly rude, he yelled at us, and even went so far as to called us stupid. Everything at this lodge is so back-asswards it still gives me a headache. There were four people in our group looking to stay at the lodge, all over the age of 25. The website advertises that the room is X$ per night, with two double beds. Having advertised two double beds, you would assume that you could have four people in the room. Nope. We were told that only two people could stay in the room, but for the low price of an extra 10$ per person, per night, we could have four people in the room. Though- technically- its a fire hazard and he should really be charging us for a whole extra room. (Did I say he was a dick? I'm sorry. I meant to say he was the heart of generosity.) I'm sorry. WHY are there two double beds if you can only have two people in the room? The fact that it is a double bed denotes that it is meant to hold TWO people. After check-in, the proprietor thought it was in his best interest to literally stalk our hotel room for the remainder of the night. Every time we left the room - be it to grab something from the car, or go for a food run, or even when we came back from our trip to the convenience store- HE WAS THERE. Questioning us on where we went, what we're doing. He even went so far as to stand outside our room, yelling at someone on his phone, for two hours. The cleanliness of the room aside, we did not feel welcome, we did not feel safe. However, we now have an abundance of stories that we can revisit later in life that are actually quite hysterical. (Not funny at the time, but funny now that we're gone.) Along with the statement of, 'I can't believe we actually stayed in that hellhole,' we also have the Beer Run Story: Went to the gas station down the way to grab some trail food - we were in NH to climb Mount Washington - and we also ended up grabbing beer. Because NH sells beer at their gas stations! (You rock NH!) On the way back, we were worried that if we came back to the hotel with beer, the proprietor was going to charge us extra for drinking. Joking that he may even go so far as to charge ten extra dollars per night, per beer, we heavily contemplated drinking all of our beer in our car outside the hotel room. As soon as we got back. We didn't drink all the beer in the car, but we were questioned upon our return as to where we had gone. Don't even get me started on the story about the batteries. In conclusion, the memories we now carry with us, we will carry forever. If you want similar memories - memories of being stalked, yelled at, and being made to feel unwelcome and uncomfortable - then by all means. Please. Stay here. But I highly recommend you staying somewhere else. Anywhere else. The price is not right for the hassle it comes with. read more

I booked a room for three nights before reading any reviews. God I wished I had read them! Our trip started out with our room not being ready yet ( it was after5pm) so they would upgrade No additional charge. The toilet would not flush. We called them about 10pm to come up and the owner (Alex) came up with a plunger needless to say we were up all night plunging the toilet so it wouldn'It overflow!I asked to be moved back into a regular room but they wanted to change us an additional 20$. I refused to pay anything additional. He became very rude and called me a miser and said I belong at the Hilton. So I asked for a refund of the last two nightsHe threw a bunch of change onto the counter and told us to leave. After leaving they called to tell us they were charging us 20$ for the key (which we left one the counter) I had to call my bank and cancel my debit card so they can not charge anything else on it.The covered bridge motel on rt 16 in Jackson should be condemned and shut down read more

I wish I could have left 0 stars, that's how bad this place is. We were looking for a place to crash while we climbed Mt. Washington. We are college students without a lot of money, so we thought this would be a good choice. There were four of us, so we figured -- 4 people, 1 room, 2 beds, works, right? Wrong. I was yelled at for about five minutes straight by the "proprietor" when we arrived, when asked to register our cars. Even though we were charged an extra $10 per night, per person (a grand total of $40 extra), we did not receive the "extra amenities" that this money was supposedly going towards (extra towels, for example). The beds were rock-hard -- the second night, after the hike, I slept on an air mattress on the floor and got a better night of sleep than in the bed. When we opened the fridge, it was turned-off and there was a lake of water where the ice cube trays were supposed to be (considering that we had a reservation, the proprietor could have at least turned on the fridge). After my girlfriend and I checked in, when we were waiting for our two friends to show up, the proprietor skulked around our hotel room for two hours, yelling at someone over his phone. Every time we opened the door or set foot out to the car to get more luggage or make a trip to the convenience store, we were questioned. All of us were over age 25, it was ridiculous and insulting to be watched like hawks when we weren't even doing anything other than sleeping, hiking, and coming back to sleep again. And the "free internet" is a joke -- we couldn't keep a connection for more than 20 minutes without it crashing. Don't go here. Ever. read more

This hotel was horrible. We walked into the room it smelled musty the beds were horrible the screen door to the balcony was broke the room was filthy. We had to leave and get another hotel. The pictures are very misleading. They were suppose to have a hot tub but told us they can't afford to run the hot tub and the pool at the same time. We stay in NH every year for the past 35 years and never stayed in a hotel this bad. read more

I signed up to YELP just to write this review. DO NOT STAY AT THIS DUMP!!! Worst customer service ever. The accommodations were straight out of 80's. That had to be the last time anyone spent money to upgrade this place. The rooms were dark and run down. The best meal offered by the motel was the one that some creature had on the blankets before we showed up. The TV was a Westinghouse tube TV that couldn't be more that 19 inches. The air conditioner that was sticking through the wall was old, had no filter in it, and was being held together by electrical tape. At least spring for some duct tape so it would actually stay together. On our last night it froze and wouldn't work. The guy came to fix it had no idea what he was doing. his solution was to open the sliding door to the balcony and let the fresh air cool down the room until the block of ice inside the air conditioner melted. The screen door to the balcony was riddled with holes. I asked if there were any other rooms and he snapped back at me that what did I expect for what i was paying. I told him I expected what was advertised; a room with 2 beds, a TV and an air conditioner (it was August in New England). I asked if there was at least something that could be done to the bill. He went crazy and after a few words that shouldn't be said around a 3 and 4 year old told me I could pack up and leave and he wouldn't charge me for the night. Since he was the manager, cook, and the maintenance man, there wasn't even anyone to complain to. I would have taken him up on that offer in a heartbeat if my 3 year old wasn't basically asleep on her feet at this point. If you want to come to New Hampshire and your only option is this dump, then don't come, the parks aren't worth it. read more

HORRIBLE!! If I wasn't so tired and it wasn't almost 1 am I would go some place else . For $200 I got a shitty run down room with lights that don't work , a gross bathroom, a tv that barley works a bed that feels like I'm laying on a cement floor, dirty walls , and a rotted out porch .Not worth my money in any way . Nothing cozy or comforting about this place . Came to this area for my boyfriends birthday and I am ashamed that we have to stay in this room ! read more

This place is awful. Booked a deluxe room and was placed in a standard, although sub-standard would be a better description. Stained carpets, ceiling and bathroom fixtures. Absolutely disgusting. The room reeked of mold and mildew. The guy at the front desk berated me when I asked for the 'deluxe' room I had booked - wouldn't even discuss changing my family to another room or a price adjustment for the standard room rate. Refused to give any refund after telling me I could stay elsewhere if I didn't like the room. I called Booking.com who I had used to book the room and miraculously I was given the deluxe room I booked. Photos on their website are extremely deceptive. Filthy rooms, found garbage in the freezer, in the coffee maker and under the bathroom sink, outside stairways are rotted, extremely rude staff, dingy hallways, broken toilet seat, balcony floors so rotted I was afraid to step outside, ripped screens on sliding door to the balcony, highly recommend avoiding at all costs! read more
