I will limit my comments on the Mountain View Grand Resort itself but not the Spa, as a different establishment. We wanted to enjoy the best experience we could in a modern, yet, upscale place away from home, so upon many recommendations, we ended up at the Mountainview. We could not have been more pleased about this awesome establishment. The resort evokes the gentility and class of a bygone era while offering modern conveniences and activities. Upon arrival at the Mountainview, the elegance is evident from the highway to the porte-cochère and then to the reception desk. The desk clerks were friendly and efficient. The hallways are magnificent, decorated with original art and even a baby grand piano on a hall alcove. Our rooms were very comfortable, with stateliness touches not often seen in our hurried world. The resort is named quite appropriately. From our room, the grandiose views of the White Mountains, Franconia Notch, all the way to the Presidentials, were in front of us. Jaw dropping beautiful views as far as the eye could see. We walked on the grounds, the rear of the hotel features a gorgeous bubbly fountain surrounded by walkways lined with aromatic flower bushes of all kinds. Just being here is a relaxing experience. We had two breakfasts at the resort. Amazing selections, and despite being a buffet, the quality service was there. On Saturday dinner, we had an exquisite dinner, first class all the way. The bartender at the downstairs bar is a wonderful employee. Great cocktails, great conversation. Between the experience at the bar and then the restaurant, every detail was superb. Sunday we walked some of their trails and visited their farm. Totally enjoyable weekend experience. We have stayed at several other Grand Dames of old hotels in New England and this was definitely the prize taker. read more

We stayed here in September- the location is great and the view of the mountains is unbeatable. In my opinion, I think the view from the porch beats the view from the Mount Washington Hotel. The room was clean and neat and was relatively updated. We also enjoyed all the sitting areas in the lobby and patio and played some games of pool in the basement. One morning we walked around the walking trails and visited the animals at the farm which was really neat. Sadly we wanted to do axe throwing on our last day and the schedule had said it was planned for the morning but when we went to the activity center they informed us that it was actually in the afternoon so we weren't able to participate after all due to our plans. I also used the spa for a facial and it was lovely! We were a bit disappointed at the breakfast service. The breakfast was included in our stay since we booked directly through the hotel website. But every morning the breakfast service was a zoo- there was a line out the door and the servers were obviously very understaffed and were just trying to do their best. The breakfast is a buffet style and honestly it wasn't really well laid out and the food was often not replenished (probably because of the understaffing). The food was OK and by the end of our visit I was dreading going to breakfast because of the disorganization. I'd consider staying here again for the gorgeous views but will probably skip the restaurant experience. read more

Went for a peaceful romantic anniversary getaway but this was not the best choice. Super cozy and charming resort hotel that was definitely a value compared to their rates. Staff was super friendly and accommodating, particularly the front desk workers Jovi (who handled our check-in) and Sofia who was attentive to every request/question we had during our stay! I have a detailed review of the Harvest Tavern (the hotel restaurant) for dinner that I will spare from here, but the free breakfast for booking direct was a nice add-on (the banana pancakes were homemade the star of the breakfast buffet). Mountain View was such a beautiful escape! I stayed for two nights with my foster son, two boys, and my boyfriend--and we all had an amazing time. The room was spacious, the bathroom was huge, and the tub was so relaxing. Honestly, it felt so cozy we forgot there was a storm outside! One of the coolest features was the private movie theater--you can reserve a time slot and choose from a big binder of movies to watch with your group. Total hidden gem! There are also two pools--we went when it was freezing, so only one was open, and while I wished it was a little warmer, the kids still had a blast. We were bummed we didn't get the third night free like the website advertised (we booked through a third party), which felt disappointing since it is on the pricier side. But that said, the on-site activities really made up for it--free axe throwing and a farm visit were big highlights and tons of fun. I can appreciate Mt View Grand is an older historic hotel, but accommodations are run down & desperately need updating. While the porch, front desk, bar & main floor are interesting & well preserved, the hotel rooms & halls are very disappointing. Chipped paint & scuff marks on walls, doors & base boards. The stained & ripped carpet throughout are not only an eyesore, but a trip hazard. AC system is out of date & controls don't work properly.. so you either freeze or go without. The lighting in room is awful, particularly in the bathroom which has only 1 overhead, antiquated lightbulb. They do have a small vanity mirror in bathroom but that is also broken. The coffee maker didn't work & furniture is falling apart. Some staff have been lovely, while others seem overwhelmed, dismissive & unhelpful. For a "resort" that bills itself as a wedding destination, they seem understaffed & unprepared for a large crowd. Most frustrating is the price gouging. Online it says breakfast is included when booking directly. Upon arrival we were told it is not included because our group is here for a wedding? Yet we still paid rack rate & are charged a hefty resort fee? For $800 for 2 nights our view was less than Grand & experience underwhelming. read more

I would say that overall, our stay was a disappointment. Because it is marketed as a grand resort, we expected to find immaculate and elegant surroundings, excellent service, and delicious food. Unfortunately, this was not the case. Our experience was more similar to a stay at a chain like a Best Western or Holiday Inn. The food, in particular, was a huge disappointment, And in fact, our first night, two out of the four of us ordered food that was literally inedible. After speaking with the front desk, we were able to have the cost removed from our bill, but that did not detract from the disappointment. While the wait staff was incredibly kind and friendly, the service was slow and inefficient. Our room had a beautiful view and the bed was comfortable, but it felt shabby, and the shower, lacked pressure and the temperature was difficult to regulate. The person staffing the outdoor center did not know much about the trails, and the curling rink was not available, although it was listed (who didn't want to try curling after watching the Olympics? ). We did get quite a kick out of visiting the barn. Overall, our experience was not what we would expect at a resort that charges the prices of the Mountain View Grand. read more

This is a beautiful resort. Rolling hills stunning views and relaxing areas. We were there for 3 nights. But beware of the lax maintenance and management. Our room suite was very spacious but the hallway and room rugs smell like wet dog. The large bathroom only had one small towel rack and two sets of towels for 2 adults and one child. The other set was in the closet. No hooks or anything to hang the towels up. Our second day we went to the buffet breakfast which the line was a mile long and you had to wait to be seated. Never heard of this for a buffet. Finally after breakfast we ventured out to Santa's Village for the day. We came back late afternoon to find our room had not been serviced. No clean towels, bed not made, nothing done. I complained and housekeeping came up around 5:30pm. So only got towels. The only game in town for dinner is the house Harvest Tavern. So another line to the hostess. We find out you need a reservation ( it was not packed) I said there was no information anywhere about making a reservation. It was 5:45pm. She said 6:30pm. I said no I have a 6 year old and this is unacceptable. I marched to the front desk and complained about no information about reservations. She miraculously found a 6:15pm on her computer. Ok, so a little glitch. Finally sat down to order. Kids menu was ok. Out of the pizza for kids!! Are you serious?? So order the Mac n cheese which when came to the table was like Kraft Mac n cheese without the cheese sauce. They were also out of other adult items. Found something finally but food is just average but pricey. They do have a barn there for the kids which was great, there was someone there to help them pet the animals and explain what type of Llamas, chickens and goats. Very limited hours. The indoor pool was nice and the outdoor pool as well. Although this was the week of August 18 it was chilly. The grand finale was the morning of departure at 6:30 am the toilet clogged and overflowed. I threw towels on the floor and called housekeeping and said a plunger was needed. An Asian woman showed up with a toilet brush and disinfectant. I said we need a plunger. She hardly spoke English and did not know what a plunger was. She said no one can fix till Maintenance comes in at 8:30 and she had no key to the housekeeping closet for towels. My husband ran down to the desk and said where are the plungers. She really didn't know but said to look in the main lobby bathroom. Voila! It was there. Front desk said nobody was in till 8:30am. Long story short my husband plunged the toilet and we needed to leave for the long trip home. We were not able to get towels to shower or wipe the floors more. When I got home I emailed and called. Got a very generic email but manager on the phone was pleasant and apologized. Got a $50 credit on my card. Will never go there again. Oh and they ran out of S'mores Kits for the campfire read more

My husband and I stayed at this resort for Valentines day 2026. We were traveling on a ski trip and decided to have a nice night at a resort. It was far from that. We got to the hotel, and it is a beautiful classic building with great views. Unfortunately, the maintenance on the building is in disrepair. The paint is peeling off the walls in the pool, the plaster is chipping off the pool lining, the hot tub is boarded up, and the floor in the sauna is not attached to the joists. My husband stepped into the sauna and the boards fell out from under his feet. We read in reviews that the food and beverage service is extremely slow. Which we figured okay, we will just get a drink at the bar and order room service and wait. We weren't in a hurry so no big deal. We sat down in the bar area, and the tables have all the finish peeling off of them. We got our drinks in a timely manner and they were good. That is the only good thing I can say, the bartenders were working hard to make up for a poorly managed establishment. We called room service around 7pm to place our order, they informed us that they have nobody to make the food and the kitchen is closed. That is 3 hours before the advertised time. We then tried to order food from the bar, starting with some bread just so we could eat something. The appetizers, including a bread basket, took well over an hour to come out. Our entrees never came out. We waited two more hours, and then with enough questioning, we were given 3 microwaved kids hamburgers (?). I went to the front desk to find the manager, however nobody could locate him. They said they found his wife and they were trying to find him through his wife and that she was going to come talk to me. I told them that unless his wife is also a manager, she isn't relevant to this complaint. They finally tracked down the manager, he came out and said that his entire team walked out and he could not find any of them. He also had no idea that the kitchen was not taking orders. The manager walked me over to the restaurant with the promise of refunds, and we were met by 3-4 other families in the same situation. They also had been waiting hours in the restaurant with no food and drink. It was then determined that we would all have to order McDonalds in order to have at least something to eat. The manager promised me a refund for all food and drink and printed the receipts. Fast forward to today, all the charges have hit our card, nothing is refunded. I have been trying to get ahold of the resort, leaving multiple messages and even having the front desk try and transfer me to management, but there is no response. Nobody ever answers. Please do not stay here. We have stayed all over the country skiing, this is an expensive hotel room, and it is by far the worst experience we have ever had. It is an embarrassment that they call themselves a "resort" with motel level service. read more

I don't usually leave reviews like this, but I feel it's important to share my experience. Unfortunately, I found the environment to be unwelcoming--there was little to no effort made to greet or guide guests, and when it came to getting information or basic help, it felt like people just didn't care. Respect and hospitality were seriously lacking. But the biggest concern by far was the fire pit area. It was one of the most dangerous setups I've seen. There were young children running around completely unsupervised near open flames. The fire pit had no clear barriers or safety measures in place, and I was honestly shocked that no one has been seriously hurt yet. It's only by sheer luck that no child has fallen in. This is a serious safety hazard and needs immediate attention. Until that's addressed and there's a clear improvement in how guests are welcomed and respected, I wouldn't recommend this place There are so many other things that could be changed and better. How do you have a pool bar that closes at 4 ? The place needs a reboot for sure. read more

I recently stayed for a week at the Mountain View Grand Resort in New Hampshire, and it was an unforgettable experience. Pros: The views from both our room and the property in general were truly unmatched. Being nestled in the heart of the mountains provided a breathtaking backdrop throughout our stay. The llama experience was an absolute must-do; walking alongside these gentle creatures and enjoying breakfast afterward was a unique adventure. Axe throwing and visiting the farm with a variety of animals were also standout activities that added to the charm of the resort. The property itself was impeccably clean and accentuated its natural beauty. The Wine Cellar Restaurant was truly beautiful and a wonderful experience. We tried the bar, and the second restaurant, as well as room service and all was stellar! Cons: While the overall experience was nice there were a few areas that left something to be desired. The front desk service, in particular, was lacking. It felt as though we had to initiate every request, which, considering the substantial cost of our stay (few thousand) was somewhat disappointing. The rest of the staff (housekeeping, activities coordinator, bar and restaurant, and the porch employees were amazing, no complaints there) but the front desk staff truly need some hospitality training. When checking in they didn't offer a map of the premises (and it's a huge property) or schedule of the activities- I had to prompt them to give it to us and I had to ask for every add-on activity (times, price) because I researched them online, not because they offered. Had I not seen the llama experience or axe throwing we wouldn't have done it because we wouldn't have known. And truly all they had to do was provide us a paper they print with the daily activities (which they did once I asked). We were also not told about the spa or all its services (which we would've done) until the last day when it was too late. Additionally, the limited scheduling of certain activities was a bit restrictive. Axe throwing being available only once a day at 10 am and s'mores offered only three times a week, rather than nightly, made it challenging to fully enjoy these amenities. In conclusion, the Mountain View Grand Resort offers a stunning setting and spacious rooms with incredible views. However, there is room for improvement when it comes to the level of service and the availability of some activities. Despite these minor drawbacks, our overall experience was memorable, but unless they change their staff training we'd consider spending those 3 thousand dollars at the Mount Washington Resort down the road. The Mountain View Resort is a historic and beautiful property and their front desk staff should treat it as such and make guests feel valued and welcome, as well as enticed to take advantage of every amenity it has to offer. read more

We were incredibly disappointed with their inability to accommodate food allergies. We spoke to the hotel team before booking to confirm they could offer gluten free food options for our 9 year old at Harvest Tavern. When we arrived, we spoke to the restaurant manager to confirm GF options and made a reservation. When we returned for dinner, we were told there was no table available. When I reminded them that I had stopped by earlier and they told me they would have a table ready, they agreed to seat us but said it would take 40 minutes to get our meals. We could order apps. We placed our order. My daughter ordered the GF Mac and cheese that they had earlier offered us. After orders were placed, the manager returned to tell us that they were too busy for the chef to take cross contamination precautions - and they cannot make the GF mac and cheese. We ended up leaving with hungry kids and had to trouble shoot to find a safe dining option in town. Breakfast was included in our stay. We spoke to them in advance of breakfast and were again reassured they could make eggs and GF toast separately for our daughter to avoid risk of cross contamination from the buffet. When we arrived at breakfast, the server told us this was not an option. We had to escalate it - and the same manager from dinner returned with excuses. After a lot of stress, they made the eggs, home fries and gave toast. I wish they had just been honest that they are unable and unwilling to accommodate food allergies - rather than giving us false assurances and spoiling our stay with the stress of finding safe food for our daughter. There is a reason we call in advance and speak with management to prevent these issues. Their food and beverage manager was completely incompetent. read more

A wonderful venue in the heart of the White Mountains. This original grand hotel has had a great refurbishment and yet still retains the original splendor! We also enjoyed the bed and breakfast package which was a really nice option. The breakfast buffet is first rate!! This weekend was not with out challenges as we booked our room using the photograph and was assigned a substandard smaller room. This was corrected by the staff in a complimentary upgrade back to the room we expected. Also there was a great deal of confusion making a dinner reservation, our first night for dinner. After being informed that the 1st opening was 8:30PM, We drove all over attempting to eat and finding every local restaurant closed even though yelp had them open? We called back to hotel and getting another host saying there were plenty of openings. We had a great meal in the end. Overall it was a wonder long weekend and we strongly recommend making the journey!! The grounds and the interior are wonderful and so worth the trip! read more

Tremendous dissapointment. My wife and I had something to celebrate and this LOOKED like the perfect place. Dinner was a truly forgettable experience. Our server was a young nice woman who had obviously never served in her life and was completely untrained by management. She did not understand the menu and could not figure out what prosecco was. No problem, i pointed it out on the menu after repeating it 3 times. She did not understand how to modify an order for allergies. (The tuna had peanuts which my wife is allergic to). We figured that out and ordered entrees. The server then knocked over the flute of prosecco into the entree while reaching across her body. The kitchen was responsive, as we had a new entree in about 8 min. By that time my steak and friets were cold and unfortunately the lamb was overcooked. (Who eats lamb well done?) The server aslo did not put in my request for the parmesan fries, which i was going to bring to her attention but...she dissapeaered for the duration of the meal. Likely embarassed about the spill. We werent upset with her as mistakes happen, but we needed to redeem our evening and it was looking like a bust. No replacement of the knoced over drink. Incorrect side, dissappeaing server...i couldnt even get ketchup for the fries. To the dining room MANAGER: how irresponsible of you to throw this young woman out there in a fine dining establishment completely untrained and ignorant of the menu. $170.00 likely the worst value for the experience in years. Dont expect much for your money here. The dining room is well appointed and comfortable and the view is very nice but you get better service at a chain restaurant. read more

We stayed here 3 nights for our Anniversary. The hotel upgraded our room for free and gave us a complimentary box of chocolates. Such a sweet and appreciated gesture. The room was spacious at the end of a hallway. Very quiet w breathtaking views. Room included a refrigerator. The king size bed was very comfortable. The resort has a working farm, golf, and many other activities. This location is best for those wanting to relax, hike, or mountainbike. Do not expect to find close places to visit or go have a drink that are around the corner. N Conway is about an hour away. If you have time definetely check out the Town of Littleton. Great Main Street w shops and restaurants. Only 15-20 minutes away. The hotel has a bar and restaurant. Cocktails on average are 14 bucks. If this bothers you then byob. Harvest Tavern is the restaurant serving breakfast, lunch and dinner. For some reason they do not have their own Yelp page. We ate dinner there 3 nights and let me tell you Ahhhmazzing. I never thought I would say this but the Ceasar salad was so tasty. We had it every night. I had the halibut one night and steak. Each dish rivaled the next. We did the breakfast buffet. $17 includes juice and coffee. You can't beat that price. Many selections including eggs, meats, waffle, French toast, pancakes, potatoes etc. Only complaint is they have one person running the buffet to serve which is ridiculous and not efficient. Also the AM table service I found to be slow for breakfast which was aggravating. My pet peeve is having to wait a long time to get check then wait even longer to have payment processed. I suggest you ask for the bill before you are even done eating to avoid the aggravation. All and all this is a wonderful hotel for rest and relaxing. We definitely will return. read more

Food/Drinks: Food felt fake, microwaved, store bought, and little taste yet over priced. We came from the city where prices are the same, yet the food is much much better. We skipped out on our last meal there to get some actual food food. It's the same menu for both lunch and dinner every day, and not much around the area to go off the "resort" The drinks are mediocre. No shakers were used in the making. Very sugary and a lot of juices used. Jacuzzi/ Pool area: Felt like a Hilton indoor pool. Jacuzzi didn't work half of our stay. Kids running everywhere. Not to mention you have to go through the main lobby in order to reach this area. Hope your comfortable with everyone seeing you in a soaking wet bathing suit! Spa Experience: We were mainly disappointed by this, as this is the main reason we came. Women and men have separate lounge/ changing areas where you are given slippers and robes. Both of our robes smelt old and over used while visually stained. The slippers were both heavily used and thin. The massages were OK. We both felt as though that for the price and all the hype, they would have been worth the $$. Over all experience: Severely disappointed. This is definitely a place that older couples can go to. This is the singularly worst experience we have ever had at a "luxury" property. We made a specific room request 8 months in advance of the reservation, it was not honored. The toilet backed up first thing in the morning and overflowed. The room was dirty and out dated. There is zero noise insulation. Vegetables were so over salted they were inedible. Thanksgiving buffet horrificly overpriced based on options available. We were charged for a breakfast package we were not told about until checkout. They do not follow their own sustainably initiatives. Single use, plastic packaged bathroom amenities (even the soap) and all towels changed daily, even ones hung to dry. Do yourselves a favor, go to the Mt Washington Omni Resort, less money and far superior. read more

Dear fellow traveler, I would not trust any review here that doesn't mention at least some of what make this place a total gem: the immensely stunning location, historic building, manicured grounds, expansive amenities, activities galore, classic charm, and above all the wonderful staff. My stay this weekend was my 15th or so over the last 2 decades. This place is consistently awesome, even during a pandemic. The value proposition here is different than a chain. You are staying for an experience that thousands of other places aren't able to offer. I won't do it justice by telling you about the very nice clean room, welcoming valet, convenient on site restaurants, or huge gym and pools. I want to tell you instead about Misty, the barn and farm director, who spent over an hour with us connecting us with her world through rich conversation and beloved farm animals.(Hey there Finnegan the Llama!) There is Linda, also in the barn, who told us of her beautiful story while teaching us how to do create felted soaps with fibers from the farm animals who surrounded us. I can't forget the wonderful Delton in the Harvest Tavern who made sure our meal was perfect while we connected about our days. (Go Liverpool!) Or the bartender working 15 hr shifts who had a smile on her face and was hustling ALL day. Or the super entertaining activity staff who ran the most fun installment of adult axe throwing imaginable. We see your excellence, MVG staff!! If you haven't been following the news lately there is this pandemic thing going on right now. All service industries are running short on people while the demand as high for regional escapes. Somehow the MVG was able to exceed the expectations we had during the challenging time with attentive, personal and welcoming service. I can't begin to list all the ways we could enjoy this place. Our favorite place ruined. This is our third time at mountain view grand. Not sure what happened but there is nothing grand about it anymore. The lobby is awful now. Big beautiful couches replace with cheap faux suede junk along with this ugly modern attempt at decor. They took down the bar wall. So what was once a cozy pub is drowned by the Loud check in noise at 4pm. No more wall paper or historic decor. Dinner served did not match the menu. We are early birds and the we noticed at breakfast no one cleans the windows at night in the main dining room. Beautiful view of mountains and kids handprints. Library was filthy and run down. Front desk couldn't answer questions about resort happenings. Gym was 70 degrees but the lobby and game room were freezing. Gym had really old equipment that was loud and half the elliptical we stuck on a reset screen. The postcards in the room had a snot on them. We just can't justify spending so much. So sad, this was our favorite place to go even though it was out of the way. It's very clear there is no management involvement anywhere in sight. Employees walk by messes without a second look. Hostess is consumed by biting her nails and there is one poor soul who has been swiffering salt off the dark wood floors in the lobby with absolutely no progress. read more

Do not bother coming here during the offseason. My partner and I stayed for 3 days, and went to both the spa and the restaurant. While the amenities clearly have the potential to be nice, we had several instances of disappointing service or rude staff. The massages specifically were disappointing, and were originally the reason why we even came to stay here in the first place. Activities that were posted were not staffed, the advertised hot tub is out of service "permanently", in general the hotel is so eerily void of staff and guests that it seems haunted. On checkout, we also found that we were double charged for a dinner so it's important to triple check your folio. You are far better off going to many of the other great destinations anywhere in New England - if you're on the fence of whether or not to book, I strongly recommend you reconsider. read more

We were a party of 4 and it took two hours to get our food. Two of the four dishes we ordered came out cold and they told us they would re-fire it, but after 20 minutes, they told us they would make new dishes, and we asked them to forget about it. One of the dishes (lamb shank) was mostly fat. The salmon was delicious. The manager told us that the kitchen was understaffed, but we don't understand how that's possible being that 3/4 of the restaurant was empty. Multiple groups came into the restaurant, ordered, and received their food after we did. This is statistically the worst meal we've ever had. I can't wait for every meal for the rest of my life to not be this bad. read more

If you're looking for a relaxing, beautiful, peaceful place to getaway and unplug for a while, the Mountain View Grand Resort & Spa needs to be at the top of your list. A couple friends and I went away for a girls' weekend recently and had an amazing time! First, the grounds at the resort are uniquely positioned in the White Mountains with many outdoor sitting areas to sit back and enjoy a drink while you soak in the view from sunrise through sunset. The rooms and hallways inside are full of old, New England character, and the beds are quite comfortable to give you a energizing reset overnight. The spa at the resort is amazing, too, with enough services to make your head spin, and all provided with top-notch quality in a very serene setting! The resort is also located within an easy driving distance from a few good restaurants and breweries in northern New Hampshire, so if you feel the urge to get off campus, you have options to get around, too. We received a gift card and decided to try the restaurant. The good: friendly servers, the steak and the shrimp cocktail. The bad: Unfortunately, they were renovating so the "restaurant " was using the ball room. Needless to say the ambiance was terrible. Actually the service wasn't good either, we waited over an hour for our entrees. The salmon was over cooked and the sides were not hot. The French onion soup was awful and also not hot. We will try one more time once the renovations are completed. read more

We came for two day weekend. The internet was super slow and kept on disconnecting, and we also received a small room which looked very different from the photos when we booked it. It is supposed to be a $450 suite, but bathroom is small, and there is not much space for "suite". Additionally, we wanted to microwave some food and looked for some communal microwaves because there was none in this $450 room. The front desk said there were no microwaves, but would send one to our room for $25. As someone else said and from our own experience, Mt Washington Omni Hotel is far superior for price and quality. read more

Not what it used to be. The grounds are gorgeous and there has been a modernization of the lobby complete with a toxic wall of air freshener that is now popular in "boutique" hotels. The MVG is not boutique. It is a grand hotel where people come to take the actual air, not Abercrombie and Fitch. You smell it, breathe it and eat it. Yuck! The updates stop at the lobby. The rooms and hallways are dated and the same as they always were. The ballroom carpet is desperate for replacement. Also, covered with perfume leading to wonder what lies in the fiber. Yuck. The game room has the same pool table it did 25 years ago, as well as the same dented balls and rickety rackety sticks with frayed tips. Also, black mold in the ac unit pouring into the pool room. Harkening back to the Legionnaires debacle from December. You didn't learn your lesson after people died? The "theater" made my home tv look good. The gift shop used to be a gem and now it is a 4Imprint self-promotion emporium with a fake milk powder infused Nescafé coffee machine. Not great. The service was AWFUL. I cannot even begin to detail the lack of training that this once fine dining establishment used to herald. The kids are nice, but do I have to ask for water, really? Menus was seriously overpriced. A $60 ribeye with three "loaded" baked potatoes each the size of my thumb nail. Wow. No bread, no soup or salad, no greens could be seen. It is apparent the MVG is no longer locally owned and is operated in lieu of corporate buyout and a complete lack of attention to the details that made this hotel among the three grand hotels of yesteryear. We stayed one night. $240 + $40 resort fee + 9% tax + $200 dinner for 2 and a $60 breakfast buffet with cold potatoes. $600! That is a pricey night that could have been enjoyed elsewhere. read more

You will find scenic views, attentive staff, great food (I am told to highly recommend the maple pear salad), great drinks, and beautiful accommodations. The place is cozy with lots to see and do. Giving three stars because we only had hot water three out of our five night stay... I wouldn't say our stay was bad- however I wish we chose a place more closer to Lincoln as there was *so* much to do over there and this place was in the middle of nowhere. The facility was gorgeous and kept so clean, we loved the pool and the gym, and the little farm was so cool as well. The "mountain biking" was a struggle because the path for it around the premises was nonexistent and not kept up with at all- it's not actual mountain biking at all & I think they should change the advertised name of that. We also were not a fan of the restaurant needing a reservation and the menu did not have a variety of choices at all- not to mention there was no way to get something easy to eat like a casual burger (usually 'resorts' have features like that). I think their advertised site makes it look more fun than it was because honestly, finding things to do that weren't an hour away was more difficult than it should have been. I did like their texting system, it was easy to ask questions and get answers quickly and the staff was very kind and helpful. read more

This place used to be a charming, but under new ownership it's gone downhill. Decor is sterile and unwelcoming. Food menu slashed. Activities mostly gone. Pool cold. No dressers to unpack. This year was a bummer. We come up every Christmas and the hotel used to have a welcoming family holiday vibe. This year the doormen were gone and none of the staff even made eye contact. The only exception to that was the horribly rude bar tender who screams at every customer. I can't be the only person to mention her. The renovations are ok but the furnishings make the hotel cold, uninviting and corporate. it feels like a Hampton Inn now. The Christmas tree outside is sad. You really cut the top of the tree off to make it fit? That hotel needs over the top decorations, a hot coco bar, a pianist in the lobby and an overall infusion of holiday spirit. Basically everything they used to have. Christmas dinner this year was also a huge letdown. The cafe menu lacks options. read more

Went for the Thanksgiving buffet in 2021. Didn't stay there. It was excellent. Only exception was I thought the stuffing was a little salty. There's plenty of food on the buffets to satisfy any cravings. The cocktail shrimp were superb; the sweet potato casserole, squash, potatoes, and turkey were excellent. The short ribs were perfection. The dessert tables had everything you could want. I can't remember what stood out but it was all good. Service was excellent, which is saying a lot post-COVID. I don't know how they do it. With tip & tax, it was about $175 for the two of us. We're looking at going back to the White Mntns for Thanksgiving this year and if we do, we're probably going back even tho they raised the price. read more

We went here for a mini honey moon. While we enjoyed the premises, we did not enjoy our room. We were exhausted from the wedding and everything it entailed and juSt wanted to relax. They Thought it would be a good idea to do construction at all hours of the day... starting at 8am and going until about 4/5p- RIGHT ABOVE OUR ROOM! They didn't even Have the courtesy to wait until we left. We mentioned it and they said they wil make sure it didn't happen again.... well, it kept happening. It was extremely frustrating. They took a little bit of money off our bill which was nIce, but I really just wanted to relax. we didn't really explore the grounds because it was so cold. We enjoyed s'mores and we def enjoyed the views! The bartender, Spencer, was awesome and had Some good recommendations for places to eat and drink around the area. He also makes good cocktails! I'm not so sure i would go back. I would rather try another place first. read more
