Destroyed, ripped up and chewed up.... My dog "Benny" chewed up and tore my couch up. It was only three years old. I come back home from San Diego and find Benny hiding. Then I look at my couch and then back at him. "OMGosh...Benny... What am I gonna do with you?" After I cool down... and then I said to myself, "WHY ME?" I found this nice place that has been there for 52 years. They had almost the identical couch.. But it had a few differences... Sooooo... I had to buy both love seat and a new couch. Service was great... And they delivered it the next day and set it up. Now...what do I do with you.... Benny? It turned out he was looking for his bone under the couch... New rules for Benny... Writing this review after a year. I purchased a used refrigerator (top/bottom) and was very pleased with my purchase. Contrary to many of the negative reviews, this is a great store to shop. Many of the items are used and refurbished, but the appliance selection I was especially interested in was just fine. They had a good selection of used appliances. Why buy new, if you can get a solid, used appliance? A store like this is a real SERVICE to the community. After a year, the refrigerator is working just fine. There was a shorter warranty (90 days) when I bought it but...that's okay. You are paying a small price for what will likely be a fine purchase. The people who run the store are people of integrity. I did not run into any bad attitudes when I purchased my refrigerator. I took time to speak with the crew that cleans / maintains the used appliances they sell and I was satisfied and impressed with their work ethic. I hope you can at least give this store a try. For a used appliance, or other furniture (they have both used and new eclectic pieces and sets), this is a fine store to visit. read more

I recently went to Covina Trading Post and bought a sectional couch, queen mattress, queen box spring, bed frame and a headboard. Chuck and Tim were very helpful while I was selecting my furniture and knowledgeable about recommendations for fitting furniture in my new apartment. I was even able to take the furniture home with me the same day! Overall very pleased and will defiantly be back in the future when I am in need of more furniture. read more

I'm only giving a 3 star rating because they sell a lot more than I'm reviewing and I don't really know how good the other stuff is. I'm going to talk about their used appliances. It's been awhile since I've bought one there but I have referred MANY people there over the years. The used appliance section is full of stuff that has been fully repaired or renovated and generally comes with a warranty as well. I once had a dryer go out...and went to Trading Post on a recommendation and bought a dryer for about $150. I think that lasted about 7 years... So it was a deal!... ;) read more

I'm shopping for a mattress...and these guys look like they might sell appliances as well and I don't know the quality of those. I was a little offended by a sales person that showed me the "RB": special mattresses they had....ewwwwwwwwwwwww! Used stuff! He didn't claim they were new or anything. My parents sometime ago had a sectional sofa made by one of their suppliers. So I decided to do the same as my parents have been extremely happy. Unfortunately, the person they dealt with retired & the other gentleman was of no help. I got the impression that I was bothering him. He was trying to sell me a sofa that was plain ugly. This place had the tiny apt size stove I was looking for on my first visit.Price w/delivery and install was reasonable.Then shit went downhill.Delivery guy arrives,doesn't have fixture to install on his truck.Says maybe Home Depot does,but he's finished and out of here,and to call the store to get refund for hook-up.I get it-but he was SUPER rude about it!So, I call the store-and im assuming owner ,from previous yelp reviews-answers,and tells me delivery guy told him about situation and that my (rental...)house was too old (1950's)and I would need to replace gas lines coming into house and "good luck"finding the fitting/adapter stove needed.Long story short-$30 at Lowes in parts, and some bud to a friend's nephew got my stove working.Shame on you Covina Trading post!Do not waste your time at this place..... read more

Very unhappy customer here and waiting to hear back from CTP or Gary's appliance repair 2/5 spoke to Sandy as repair number was disconnected. She said she would call and have them call me. She was very nice 2/9 repair man came out, said he needed to go get the part and hat he would call back. Never heard back! 2/17 called left voice mail for repair man at 12:30pm 2/27 called left voice mail for repair man at 1pm 2/27 called CTP spoke with Tim. He said he would have repair man call me or I could return washer. I don't have access to a truck and we wanted it repaired so we waited for repair man 3/12 called left voicemail with the repair man. Never heard back 3/18 washer flooded entire hallway with wood floors Now we are mopping up water and removing the washer to dry in order to not cause mold and damage to drywall or wood floors. I will wait for their response and post to to inform everyone of their response and hopefully rectification of a fixed washer. read more

I recently bought a piece of furniture from this place and the price was pretty good. The customer service wasn't good. The people who work there aren't friendly at all and not helpful. The owner ordered the furniture that I requested but used the identical piece furniture in the store to put it together. He pretty much took pieces from the box and pieces from the furniture he already had to put the thing together. To me that was so lazy and off putting. We purchased a few things from this mom and pop shop over the years: 1) just bought a dining set here. The price is very fair. Delivered within a week. Smooth delivery and installation. We've only had it for a month, but so far so good. The table and chairs look great, solid construction. 2) purchased a breakfast nook over 10 yrs ago. Still going strong. 3) unfortunately, the queen mattress set only lasted 6 months. It started to cave in the center, so we gave it away. I think we paid about $600 for the set. Probably too cheap, so we got what we paid for. Overall, solid 4 stars. Good prices. And we'd rather support small local shop than big chain stores. read more

My roommate and I bought a fridge here and took it home to Highland Park (25 miles away). Two months later, we started experiencing problems with it and it needed to be defrosted. We called the store because it was still under warranty, and we got directed to the technician, who tells us that we moved too far away for them to be able to come to us. Four months later, we have had to defrost the fridge four more times, and now we are in the market for a new fridge. We bought it for $250, and it was 100% not worth it. read more

My family has been doing business with the Covina Trading Post for decades. The prices are great! If you don't find something you like on their showroom you can always order from the books they have available at no extra cost. The business is family owned. The mom is older and I believe the sons now run the business. If you're going to go in, try to do so when Joan is in. Tim isn't too friendly and isn't much of a sales man. I went in to look at a table and Tim really seemed unmotivated to help and seemed bothered when I did ask for help. Joan on the other hand is very friendly and very happy to help. The store itself looks outdated but you really can't beat the prices. Good luck! read more

Horrible customer service Bought set/washer and dryer/Whirlpool. The warranty was for 90 days. I paid over $750.00 for the set. My mother was on hospice, so I needed the appliances. I was stressed enough taking care of my dying mother. The motor on the dryer went out in 105 days. I took my receipt and went back to the store. I wasn't expecting something free, but the attitude and reception I received was very rude. The woman who has been working there for quite awhile was snotty, and she appeared that she didn't want to be bothered. I inquired if there was anything they could do to accommodate me. She said, No. I was heart broken that this well established company couldn't help me in any way. I would never recommend this company to anyone. read more

This is based on customer service. I went here twice with my dad because we were looking for a tv stand. An older man came and tried to help me. He asked me what size my tv was and I honestly did not know. I know that to most guys the size of their tv is like common sense but I don't care or pay attention to my tv size. Well the salesman said in a very rude and condescending way that "I've got to know the size of my television". I just said ok and walked away. I told my dad that I wanted to leave. The next time my parents went to buy a mattress and they chose one and paid for it within 10 minutes. The lady at the pay counter has always been nice so thank you lady. The guys who loaded the mattress were rude. My dad said hello to them very friendly and the Hispanic dude didn't say anything back. They just loaded the mattress and that was it. No thank you or have a nice day, nothing. I wouldn't go here based on these incidents. read more

Don't buy from this store. This store has been around for decades but the purchases I made within the past two months have turned me away from what I thought was an old-fashioned family-owned business that cared about its customers and doing honest business. Careful if you buy from them. They will tell you or post signs on furniture that something is on close-out when it really isn't just so you can't get your money back if you unpack it and find something wrong with it. When I called to complain about two cabinets I bought that didn't match upon setting them up the salesman we dealt with said he had noticed it and checked the others he had in storage but they didn't match either. BUT HE NEVER SAID ANYTHING TO US! My daughter had to use them in an art gallery boutique the next day so we had to keep them but the complacent, don't care attitude I got from the senior owner left me very disappointed. He actually said, " Well, we can't point out everything you know". I expect a business that has been in business for as long as they have to know their products and stand behind what they sell. They didn't offer to give us a discount or return or exchange or anything. So disappointed in them. Shame on you CTP. Never again. I really try to support local mom and pop businesses but I'll never shop here again. read more
