I wanted to take a night with some great jacket weather to snag a nightcap at Covington Yard. On a weekday night, it was super easy to find a seat out in the Yard. I loved the food options available, but this time, we were just here for drinks. We popped back to the bar and ordered a couple slushee (boozy drinks). I went with the bourbon sangria slush. Each slush was $10, which seemed a little high, but the glass was a decent size at least. The drink was tasty and adequately boozy. We sat in the yard, people watched, and stared at the lights. It's a really unique venue, which made it easy to forget that you're still in Covington. This will definitely be a great spot to bring visitors to, especially on slow nights where you can socially distance outside over some drinks. read more

This place never disappoints! We always have a good time here, besides the cool environment, the food they have to offer are all on another level which i will have to make different reviews on. But I have tried all four options and they are all worth trying. The place is dog friendly which is a must for us and the frozen drinks they have are great. I do have to say personally we miss the frozen Sangria they had but hopefully they bring it back... either way we will be going back real soon. read more

A fun concept in Covington! Lots of open space and social distancing with tables spread apart. I also saw the staff wiping down tables when people left and they wear gloves and masks. They were also so helpful and come grab garbage from the tables. They got some heat lamps all around as well to keep you warm, but it does seem they don't keep you warm enough for winter. It was fine in the crisp fall air, but gets cold. This is basically an outdoor seating space over some turf with a bar to order drinks and a few restaurants with windows for you to order food like food truck style. I think they need a few more restaurants to add variety but so far they have Django Tacos, Mr. Bulgogi (Korean BBQ in a cup), Yard Bird. This is great for a chill. Night with friends. Not too crowded and not too loud. I'm sure during game days it is more lively. read more

Great outdoor space! This is a great space to stop by during covid times since tables and chairs are spaced out according to CDC guidelines. There is also a large bubble-tent that seems up for rent. There is no menu at the bar which is my only qualm, but I ordered a jalapeño passion fruit mocktail that the bartender decided to spin up and it was quite delicious. I love the concept with the different food stands, but I do wish the people cooking and preparing the food were wearing masks. I also think they need more heaters since it was still a bit chilly. I've been wanting to try Covington Yard for awhile, and finally had the chance to. I went on a Saturday with my husband and two kids. It was more of a gloomy day so many people weren't there initially when we arrived. However, maybe 20 minutes after we got there, the crowd showed up. It's a spacious, cool hang-out spot for adults, families and pets. They have an outside area with tons of chairs, a stage and a tv. They also have a covered area that everyone was sitting under the day I went. They had heaters as well because it was a tad cold out. They have a bar and food vendors as well. It's basically like an adult playground. There was someone else who also had their kid there as well, so it's family friendly depending on if they have an event going on or not. People also had their dogs. I'm not a huge fan of animals being inside food areas but hey. To each their own. For food, we ordered Hangry Omars. It's a homemade slider vendor. Burger and fries, yes please! Think White Castle's/Krystal's but homemade. We ordered the Traditional, West Coast, and Mojo Sliders with a large Fry and Hangry Sauce. Our favorite was the West Coast and Mojo Sliders. The Traditional and West Coast are the same except the West Coast has Thousand Island sauce on it. I personally felt the burgers needed the sauce so that's why West Coast was preferred over the Traditional. The Mojo was different. It was Pulled Pork with cheese on a slider. We loved the fries and Hangry sauce. The sauce was tangy and delicious. The fries had the perfect crunch. We also ordered drinks from the bar. I had the Pointe-Sicle and my husband had the Margarita Slushie. The Point-Sicle is basically an Orange Creme Sicle. It was good to me. My husband didn't like it. The Slushie was delicious. I love that they have iced water in a cooler out for self-service. We had the Korean BBQ and sliders. Everyone was happy with the food and the people watching was fantastic. There were a lot of families and dogs. A nice young man was cleaning up the messes left behind and bringing doggie bowls full of water for the various breeds of pups. We saw mutts and upscale pure breeds. The TV had the Reds game where everyone could see it. There were tables and chairs and shade to enjoy. You order and then can sit at a picnic table, high top, or lounge chairs to dine. They had hand sanitizer stations, signs to wear masks and the staff all wore masks. This place is ultra cool. The outdoor space is big and perfect for good weather. They also have indoor covered seating with a large bar. The food situation is neat- several different restaurants have little stations that you can visit. They always have it decorated for Christmas and other seasonal things so make sure to stop by if you're in the area. It's a fun spot! read more

This was fun, except for the part where we chose to sit outside and it was 27 degrees! Totally not their fault! We loved the heated igloos - they're first come, first served, so we weren't sure we'd get one, but the benefit of that setup is that they were the only place with open igloos! It was fun, love the concept of being able to get food in the "food court"-type setting. You could get appetizers at several places, everyone could get food at different places, etc. We tried the beef bulgogi, which we'd never had, but it was good! We both enjoyed the Yard Lager. The staff was EXCEPTIONAL. We were a little fussy, and had several requests during our time there, and they fulfilled each request happily and quickly. Everyone was very kind and prompt. I went for the first time on an abnormally warm November day, so I'm not sure how well equipped they are for the winter months, but it's a great spot to spend a sunny afternoon. My biggest disappointment was the food quality. My husband ordered sub-par tacos from Django and I ordered overly-salted chicken tenders from Yard Bird. My tenders were almost inedible because of how loaded with salt they were! If they could get the food right, I could see myself spending an entire day here. We headed North this sunny seasonal Saturday, to Covington, Ky. One in our party received a COVID shot at St. Elizabeth and afterward we wanted something unique. We did our usual food filtering, not pizza we had that last night. Not fish, that was also yesterday. Undoubtedly people eating fish on a Saturday in Lent are definitely not Catholic, or maybe Catholic fishermen. I saw Covington Yard, and it sounded very hip. Dog friendly too, although our pooch is not permitted in certain family vehicles and stayed home. Off we head to downtown Covington. The Yard is a cool concept; repurposed steel shipping containers into small food retail units in a inner-city outdoor food court. Pay parking lot right across the street. The area, a mix of residential multi-unit homes on the edge of commercial. The Roebling suspension bridge, that blue painted mesh decked pathway over the Ohio, connecting Cincinnati and Covington near Great American Ballpark, a block over. Commercial office buildings being rehabbed and within the block other eateries are available. A neat renaissance taking place in NKY. The food area is synthetic turf, with music coming from one container set up as DJ central. Each container is painted black. Clear rope lighting hangs above. A permanent structure is the bar, all sided with glass facing into the court. Korean BBQ bowls was one food choice, a chicken place, a taco place and a burger place. Each container has been retrofitted with service window and kitchen exhaust ducting. A clean look. Plastic bubble shrouded dining areas with propane heaters were available, but the sun was doing a great solar effect inside the bubble on the metal picnic tables this low-50 degree day. No heater needed. I ordered from Django Western Taco's. Two tacos; a Carne Asada one, with Sakura Farms Wagyu skirt steak, pepper crema, guacamole, pickled onion and cotija cheese was good, but the dude working must have felt sorry that he did not have queso ready and also did not have my first choice of the Carnitas taco available and loaded the thing up. The rep offered a fish taco substitute, and on a Friday I would have bit, but not today. The corn tortilla collapsed by the massive chunks of meat. It was enjoyable and probably could have benefitted from some hot sauce. My first bite was a massive chunk of chewy beef. Once I cut down the chunks it went a lot better. Wow, it was huge, should have ate it first. The other taco, also in a corn tortilla was the fried chicken; buttermilk fried chicken, house pimento cheese, chipotle honey. It looked a bit weird, but the cross-over of the pimento cheese blob and the sweet glazed buttermilk fried chicken was pretty darn good. I was looking for instruction on what to do with the pimento blob, as there were none, I created my own and mashed it down some, or scooped it with some chips. I substituted chips and salsa for the yet to be ready queso. Fresh fried corn chips and a medium salsa were really good and handy implements for eating the tacos. Others in my party shared chicken and fries from Yard Bird Chicken. Large tenderloins of fried chicken and crinkle cut fries were their lunch. All our food was hot and right out after prep. A really nice meal in our clear cocoon, like a kitty cat in a window on a sunny day taking in the rays. A well seasoned fried chicken and no skimping, they did it right with portions. About half came home and will do well on biscuits in the morning. Prices were reasonable and the concept is a neat take on a veer from food truck convenience. The folks working were doing right with our current mask protections and I would go back for sure, maybe with the dog so we could be stared at while eating. The bar service was quick and we enjoyed watching the bengals game there although one of the TVs was out. Cant wait for the rest of the food places to open! Stumbled upon this gem in the middle of downtown Covington ! Dog friendly, warm and unique place to check out ! Outside area is astroturf , with many of those new plastic igloos with large plastic picnic tables inside. Can fit about 8 people. The igloos are first come first serve ! Some of the outdoor seating surrounds little tables or fire pits. Many heaters are placed throughout the outside seating area. There are multiple restaurants inside of renovated shopping containers. Also lots of TVs ! A rather small beer selection, mostly domestic drafts and limited to no can selection. Full bar though so liquor is stocked and they always have fun little cocktails. read more

The perimeter of the lot is lined with different food truck options. The atmosphere is busy on weekends but security is at the door to manage the crowd. Dogs are welcome, picnic tables and group seating available with TV's in multiple areas for sporting events.
