The service is hit-and-miss; We've had awesome service to wondering if it was a, "staff call-in sick day" yet, other times were, really nice and attentive service, along with really good food. The ambiance is comfortably casual to work attire during business hours during the work week. The downfall is that the place is like "a box of chocolates" both in food and service, at any time. We were told that this was the best in town. We went in for lunch and we will not be back. It definitely wasn't worth the wait it took to get a seat. I had the green chili cheeseburger- just ok (WhatABurger was better), the onion rings tasted like uncooked flour. The wife had the chef's salad and couldn't finish it because the egg was over cooked and green, there was something hard in the salad that she could not eat. A good place to grab breakfast in Roswell. The staff was welcoming and friendly and provided great service. The biscuits were fresh and hearty. The restaurant itself is very small so be prepared to wait as there isn't much room. We timed it just right around 10am but soon after there was a small wait to eat. I enjoyed the Spanish omelette and my partner had the chicken and taters (fried chicken on biscuits with hash browns). I wasn't complete blown away by the food so that's why it wasn't 5 stars but definitely a solid 4 and a good place to grab a bite and support a local business. read more

My husband got the steak and eggs which he thoroughly enjoyed! Their chicken & biscuits were the most amazing! Those biscuits were perfectly fluffy and tall! The chicken was super moist and well fried. If I had one complaint (as a professional chef I must lol) it would be that the chicken could've been pounded down a bit cause it was like biting through 3-4in thick chicken patty. Came here from Los Angeles for a trip to see the alien museum and I was blown away with how good the food was. The service was amazing. I got pancakes with sausage and eggs and the pancakes were fluffy and buttery. The sausage tasted genuine and the eggs were perfect sunnnyside up. We had a Saturday lunch at the Cowboy Cafe in Roswell after visiting the International Alien Museum. We saw that the Cafe had received good reviews, so we thought we would dine there while in Roswell. Upon entering the door, we felt like we went back in time about 50 years. The decor, the music, the scene, the ambiance, all had an authentic cowboy and Western theme to it. We sat at the bar, browsed through the menu, and settled on ordering the Alien Omelette (appropriate, eh?). The Alien Omelette is a ham and cheese omelette with a slightly spicy (and very tasty!) Hatch green chile sauce, along with hash browns, and biscuits and gravy. In short, the meal was excellent! I was literally inhaling the omelette as the flavors were fabulous. Mixing the chile sauce with the omelette and hash browns is also highly recommended as you'll enjoy a very good flavor explosion. In addition, the portion sizes were very generous, the service was excellent, and the Cafe also sells a variety of hot sauces and rubs -- we bought a jar of hot sauce, also. So, good job Cowboy Cafe! What a great little local establishment. I heard many patrons being greeted by name, which tells me this place must be good. It was. I had something called the Double Barrell Burger. It was two slices of Texas toast, with a hamburger patty on each one, smothered in a queso sauce, with a side of fries. It was very good. I took the leftovers with me to have as dinner in my hotel 4 hours away. The atmosphere screamed "Cowboy" and the staff were very friendly. This is the real deal. The parking lot is way bigger than the restaurant, so be prepared that seating may be difficult but it is totally worth the wait. I noticed when I first walked in they had a cooler by the front door where they sold fresh farm eggs. I knew I was headed in the right direction for breakfast (which I had a lunch time.) Started off with an appetizer of chicken fried bacon with gravy. I could have snacked on that all day! But the real gem is the Chicken Biscuit and Taters. Oh. My. Guys, this is ridiculously good. You get a fried chicken breast in a homemade (yes, homemade) biscuit topped with cheese and smothered in gravy. Then they top it with a farm egg. One of the best breakfasts I've ever had. You can douse your food in salt if you want to, but if prepared salty you can't take it out). Also, very spicy; unexpected and undesirable in biscuits and gravy. WOW!!! The sauce was powerful. I literally could not put my fork down. I'm a big guy, 6'3 and 350lbs and I was so stuffed! The plan was to go to Ruidoso, hit the casino and watch the playoffs. Lost a little too much too soon and raced back to Roswell so I can get more breakfast here tomorrow. 1/3/20... Went here solely on reviews. This place does not disappoint. Wait staff is quick and courteous. We sat down immediately and had drinks in 3 minutes. We had our food in 15 minutes (4 people). If you're hungry, you've come to the right place. Huge portions of whatever you buy. We tried a little of everything, sausage and gravy, omelet, pancakes and huevos rancheros. I will say the biscuits are fluffy and moist and the homemade sausage patty were excellent. The pancakes with their maple syrup was excellent. The Roswell sauce (Green Chile sauce) was mild and went well with huevos rancheros. If ever in the area, go here!!! read more
