I've visited Roswell a few times and everybody told me I had to try Cowboy Café. First two visits, the line was way too long so I didn't wait (about a 60 min wait to be seated). On my most recent trip we finally got to go and give it a try. I was pleasantly pleased. The food might be a little overrated, but that's what happens when a place is good -- people hype it up and the bar gets set so high it's hard to hit. Nothing negative to say about the food though, and the servers were wonderful. I had the cheeseburger with fire roasted green chilies and it was really good. Onion rings were definitely homemade and delicious. The restaurant was clean, had a great atmosphere, and a lot of flair to look at while you're there. All in all, I can see why people like this place.

Delicious diner food in a cowboy themed restaurant! The coffee was perfect! The huevos rancheros hit the spot! Green chili sauce had heat and made the dish. The also have homemade pies and mugs and sauce to bring home. Great cafe!

The Cowboy Cafe is located a little ways from the main part of Roswell, but still not too far. It is unique in its astetics. The bar stools have seat cushions that look like part of a saddle. There is a mini stagecoach in front as well. The inside tables are booths. There is plenty of gravel parking with a paved handicap space. The bathroom is gender neutral with unique memorabilia. The service was fast. The server stopped several times during our meal to check on our wants... outstanding! The menu is decent. The prices are reasonable. I ordered hamburger steak with onions. It came with a small house salad, mashed potatoes, corn, and cornbread. The meal was delicious. They also have cake and pie as well. So, if you come to Roswell to see the aliens, be sure to stop by the Comboy Cafe. You just might enjoy yourself.

Sometimes ya just was great food, service and good feelings about what you eat and where you find yourself. DO NOT PASS BY HERE IF YOU ARE LOOKING FOR breakfast or lunch. We were looking for lunch at 1pm and found this place. I had not read the reviews before we went. Sometimes ya just don't want fancy food, but still want it to be good. The food isn't just good - we had the best lunch in over 2000 miles and 10 days of traveling and eating out. From Estes Park Colorado to Roswell NM- hands up THIS IS THE PLACE. Big breakfasts and good family Style cooking. We had the Hamburger Steak and Onion. And the Chicken Fried Chicken. Both came with mashed potatoes, vegetable of the day, green chili cornbread and side salad. Good stuff! They close at 2 and we arrived at 1. Every bite we were saying how perfect it was after all the foo-foo food we had been eating. We NEEDED this meal to make it back to Texas and home. The staff was superior and the place is cute as it can be. Love it and will stop here again and again.

This is a cute dive off the main road in Roswell. It's old west decor is fun and unique. The dining room is small and people are willing to wait to eat here. The servers are friendly and attentive. I had the eggs and French toast. The French toast was great made with cinnamon bread. The syrup was hot and delicious! My hubby had the biscuits and gravy. The biscuits were very good and the sausage tasted homemade. Very good! My son had the t bone breakfast with grits. He devoured it. Very flavorful. We also bought some of the Black Betty BBQ sauce. It's the best!!! Locally made and delicious.

Small cafe with great food! Not a lot of seating, four booths and four tables. There's bar seating available if you're solo. Simple, rustic decor, leather tablecloths. Greeted when you enter (not much waiting area) and we were able to be seated within a couple of minutes at 11:30am on Monday. Straight forward menu, we went for breakfast and were not disappointed. Great biscuits and gravy and we got the sausage gravy. Just enough spice, not too hot. PANCAKES ARE DELICIOUS! Sweet batter, nice and fluffy, just the right size. Others there were having lunch and it all looked good, home cooking at it's best. The surprise was the rib. It's huge!! Very tender, right off the bone. Stopped here for breakfast a few weeks ago. It's a cute and quaint place. My group managed to take over nearly the entire place, and the wait staff did a great job handling all of us and getting so many meals out quickly. I got stuck sitting with some locals at a table. The locals at the counter were great, but these were some of the saltiest (and not in a good way) folks around. Right as I was about to call one a big ray of sunshine, one of my friends interrupted. Sigh, jerks didn't get to hear from me that their rude comments to me and the others, including telling me to "shut up" was not appreciated. Jerk. Do recommend getting some of their Revolver Sauce. Great heat, lots of flavor. Wish I would have picked up a jar to go, that stuff was good. Will come back here when I'm in town, and if that group of "gentleman" (using the term loosely there), will make sure I'm not stuck sharing a table with them again. read more

Friendly staff, very generous portions, and wonderful tasting down home comfort food. Make sure you save room for pie or cake, they are all so good. Love all the foods I have tried there. Make sure you try the Roswell Sauce (green chili sauce), it's better than the average sauce. **Side note: the bathroom is quite unique. :D read more

In-restaurant dining was a welcome experience. Restaurant states up front that they do not honor the draconian measures enacted by the governor - which is a huge plus to me. The food was exceptionally prepared, hot, fresh, and tasty. Customizing the daily special was requested and done - cheerfully! The pies are always tempting here, but to be able to have a slice, you need to skip the meal - too much food in one sitting otherwise. A great local gem staffed by great local people. read more

We stopped by here on our vacation last summer, we loved it so much we altered our route to have it again on the way out of town. Was super busy, but the service was good, locals were friendly. Amazing comfort food and pies :) We were able to park with the RV. read more

Man o man what a great place to eat. Chicken fried steak and eggs. Cow girl or cowboy size? It don't matter it's all good. Bring your appetite. My wife had the biscuits and gravy which she ate all of it. So I guess you it was good. My daughters hash and eggs were in point also. This is not a very big place only a few tables and a counter. But well worth the wait if you want to eat good. This is a must stop if your hungry read more

This place is everything that one could expect in a place called Cowboy Cafe. Generous helpings of hearty food, cooked and served by delightfully pleasant staff, in a totally perfect dining room that reeks of ranch style. Our plates were full and tasted fabulous. I had chicken fried steak and eggs - wow. Wife had huevos rancheros - very tasty. The local characters that dotted other tables or the counter were a spot-on element that gives you to small town Americana. I will definitely return to this friendly comfort food nirvana. So my hubs and I are on our way to roswell for the day. We arrive around 8am. Where the heck do we go for breakfast!? I searched yelp, hoped for the best, and we were on our way. My husband ordered the pork chop with eggs and I ordered eggs, bacon, and hash browns with sourdough toast. Everything was insanely good. It was fresh and hot and all around yum! We must have looked like tourists though cause our waitress asked where we were from and where we were traveling to? Is it that obvious? She said they get visitors from TX all the time. For sure if you find yourself in Roswell, try this place for breakfast. It's delicious, service is good, and prices are reasonable. Y U M ! read more

Easy to miss place but don't. Delicious food and great service. Green chilie burger was excellent and the cowboy fries are worth the upcharge. Onion rings are homemade and great. A little heavy on the breading but still worth it. Hummingbird cake was outstanding. Fresh moist and soft. A great lunch. read more

We've eaten there four times now on a road trip. There's a free breakfast provided by the Days Inn next door if you stay there. It is limited on what you can pick from. Substitutions are charged. On all our times there the service is almost none existing. They will take your order, and bring you the check, but forget anything in between unless you can find them and flag them down. Lately, for all the places we've eaten out at lately, that seems to be the norm. Sad. As for the food, my last meal there was cold. I eventually had to take my plate up to ask if I could get some hot food. No problem. After they microwaved it, even the jelly on my toast was hot. If we're ever in the area again, this will not be on our list of places to eat. read more

I ordered the Huevos Ranchers with green ranchero sauce was delish!! The hash brown was yummy!! My husband ordered Starving Cowboy which he also enjoyed. Our server Julia was very sweet. Ate here a few weeks ago and had to leave mid-meal because it gave me bubble guts. It ruined the rest of our plans while we visited Roswell for the day since the food made us sick and we raced back home. Wasted trip. Greasy food and I think they used rancid coconut oil on my pancakes....I like coconut oil but it tasted horrible. $40 for 2 rancid pancakes, 2 eggs (cooked over easy-I asked for over hard), spongy ham, and 2 biscuits with gravy. read more

Stopped by here for breakfast on a road trip from Florida to Oregon. I had the cowgirl and my boyfriend got the cowboy and man was it good. Food was delicious my boyfriend says it's been the best breakfast on the trip so far. So fresh and tasty Staff is very friendly and helpful. Jen took care of us, she was very sweet! We stopped at this tiny cafe on the recommendation of friends. The food was okay, but the place seems to rely on locals and service was very poor. We both had hamburgers and after they were left at the table it was the last we saw of our waitress. There is an entrance sign that says "make America great again." They could do their part by starting with better service! read more

Unfortunately, the rest was a mess: Cold burgers Terrible fries (I had to reheat them in my air fryer) One burger was supposed to have everything except mustard, but came completely plain A manager (I believe named Dan) spoke with me but said there was nothing they could do about a refund because it was an online order. I spent $44 for what was supposed to be a quick meal. For that price and time, I could've sat down at Applebee's, ordered three full-size burgers with drinks and fries, tipped 20%, and still spent less money for better service and food. Chili's and BWW offer similar deals. Really disappointed this time. Hopefully they can improve the curbside process, because this was not Whataburger's best. At least, I hope it's not.

Housed in an historic old building that has been crafted into a really cool visual background to the scent of hearty barbecue cooking that reels you in. The best is yet to come as you enter and are greeted by super friendly staff, or if you are lucky enough to catch the owner, Tony, working at the grill. And then there is the barbecue...absolutely delicious!! Great selection, but not overwhelming, so that you can quickly get to the best part - eating. They also have a great bar, that is very well stocked, especially with my favorite barbecue accompaniment, whiskey. We left with huge smiles on our faces - great food, great folks, and just a great find that we hope to be back to soon.

Ok so we will admit we came to Roswell for the alien stuff! But we are foodies too so we stopped here and had the chicken fried bacon, coffee, and OJ!! Omg what can I say besides wow! I've always ordered chicken fried steak but when you can have chicken fried bacon?? Really !!?? Ahh I could eat bacon with everything. They should contact food network to be on that show that shows the extreme bacon recipes. That one bar in Boston has bacon like 50 ways! Yum I think they should keep adding bacon to everything! They make fresh food and it comes out to order nothing sits around! It'll take a while to get your food but it's worth it because it's so fresh and amazing. Make sure you stop here when you're in Roswell! Oh make sure you haven't eaten yet because you'll eat all the daily calories in one meal! read more

When we found this cafe it was packed!!! We thought for sure we would be forgotten or have to wait. We had a short waiting period and it was so worth it. We went for breakfast and biscuits and gravy reminded me of my mom's homemade biscuits and gravy. Staff are very friendly. Missy took care of us. The gentleman up front was so friendly and reminded me of my dad. My husband order the starving cowboy and he said he was happy with homemade cooking. When you travel it is nice to find a place to sit down and enjoy the friendly welcoming environment. Plus can't beat homemade cooking. When we come back to Roswell we will be back. read more

There is nobody in town that makes a steak like this cafe. I like my steak super, and everywhere I go, they overcook it. The owner came to my table to make sure I wanted it as rare as I told the waitress, and even told me the risks of eating under-cooked meat. Then he went to the kitchen and made sure the cook made it to order. I will be going back any time I want to go out for a steak! read more

Cowboy Cafe was a great local spot with some down home cooking. The menu is diverse and was able to find something for everyone. The Alien Omelet (ham n cheese, green Chile smother, cheese overtop, and fried egg. The appetizer "Fried Bacon" was divine!!! Biscuit n gravy was scratch goodness and fed two of us. Like so many places, the closing time is actually 15-30 minutes before the listed closing time. I feel if you're going to do that, then make your closing time 1:30 or 1:45 so as to not waste people's time. For your planning, assume you aren't getting in after 15-30 minutes before closing. read more
