This place just opened and it meets my expectations of what the "Cowboy" restaurants/bars are known for: country-like feel, peanut shells on the floor, lots of flat screen TV's, great selection of happy hour drinks/appetizers, (4-6p and after 9p $2 beers and half price apps) and a friendly staff to boot. Went for the first time with a girlfriend on a Friday night. Arrived around 8p and the place was PACKED--hour and a half wait for a table for two. We ended up just grabbing a spot at the bar which worked out just fine--ordered some beers and apps---REALLY wish they had a wider selection of tap beers, (not even honey weiss!) The "older" crowd was gone by 10p. Definitely not as packed. Live band started around 9p. Although the music was WAY TOO LOUD it was still a fun time. Lots of people dancing, was a pretty fun time. Last time I come here. I tried 2nd.. 3rd.. And now 4th chance. Service is always below average. They're nice, but it's like they forget there's a job to do and people may not want to hang out for 10 minutes before their first interaction with a server when the place is 1/4 full. My wife and I tried Cowboy Jacks on a Thursday afternoon around 1:00 pm and was very disappointed by the poor service. The hostess did sit us down quickly but that we the only part that was good customer service. We waited for ten minutes and nobody came to check on us or take any orders. So, I got up to find the hostess. I told her that we were waiting for over ten minutes and did not get service. She did not respond and then we left the restaurant upset by the lack of service and response. Maybe their late night service is better but I am usually in bed by 10:00 pm. read more

My boyfriend and I ate here about a month ago. Let's just say this is a place meant for drinks with friends/date! After having drinks a few times before we decided to come to dinner to test out the menu, all of the items SOUND appetizing. Too bad the owners don't seem to care how they perform as a restaurant because it has a lot of potential. It looks like there are 15-19 year olds (all of them guys) cooking in the back, some with crazy long hair & beards not pulled up properly. We both ordered our steaks medium rare (warm red center). These things were hard, cooked well & dry! The moment the food hit the table, about 20 flies swarmed our table! I spent more time swatting flies than actually eating. Pretty unfortunate experience. I can't think of a single reason to go back. Slow service, tough steak and not cooked to the right temperature. English muffin that had barely been toasted. Awful coffee with sugar that was stuck together in the packet. The best thing on the table was a bloody mary, and I made that at the bloody mary bar. This was a second attempt at this place. Horrible service! Horrible food! Outrageous prices! Won't be back there again. The only thing that was good was the half priced appetizers, but half price should be normal price. They charge extra for fries, but they were cold. The 4 mini sloppy joes were too spicy to eat. Their pickles are worse than Burger King. You also pay extra for Buffalo meat than for hamburger, although I couldn't taste any difference. There were 6 in our party and my bill was over $200 We didn't get prompt refills, appetizers came slowly, entrees even slower yet, and they weren't busy ... except for a bunch of noisy bikers on the patio. Great food and great staff! Having been in the service industry I often find myself watching the staff, I guess a sort of weird habit of mine. None-the-less while I was watching the whole staff was busting their asses. It was the first time in all my years of dining where it caught my eye. So hats off to y'all!! Cowboy Jack's in Otsego is a great place to get great food in a relaxing and fun atmosphere. They have a good assortment of daily specials. The food is always very good, and the price per portion can't be beat. The staff is always friendly and professional, and they go above and beyond to make sure their customers are satisfied. The Happy Hour drink prices are low enough to bring customers in, and once in the food looks so good and is irresistibly priced that you can't help ordering something. Tia, the bartender that is often there, manages to tend bar, give advice to people unsure of what to order, serve food, and remain smiley and happy. All the staff that I've come in contact with seem to be concerned with giving customers the best possible restaurant experience. Couldn't be more happy with Jack's. read more

We go here every Tuesday for their wing special. One of my kids have an activity very close to the otsego one so we've made a bit of a routine out of it. Wings are good but nothing sets them apart for any others (except the price on Tuesdays!) service is alway hit or miss, we've had great experiences and we've had bad. One thing I'll mention from our last visit, the have a bar that opens to the outside in the summer, cigarette smoke was freely flowing through the restaurant because of it - not something I'm used to these days I guess- and we were not particularly close to the bar. They do have undeniably great specials all week long though so will continue to stop in on occasion now that our ties activity has ended. read more

The wife had the patty melt also ordered it medium and came out medium rare. She also had hers as bison and it was tasteless. It wasn't very busy, so lack of service was a surprise. I read some of the other reviews before coming here and most weren't impressed with service. THE SERVICE WAS AWESOME! My wife and I got the buffalo wings and jalepeno cheese curds and they were both very good. Our waitress was very prompt and right there when we needed another barley pop. Very fast service, corn bread is to die for, had Turkey Burger my fault should have ordered Bison Burger but still ok average taste. Walleye fingers were good, sweet potato fries were tasty, drink refills were not offered nor did I ask. Didn't hate the place but not one of my favorites bar was noisy. We played purse bingo tonight and know we missed calls over in the back side, the sound was horribly poor. I honestly think the whole left side outside of the bar should have gotten refunds as bingos were called on the other side no one on our side was remotely close. I will say that Mary did her best to help our side and get the numbers called while still poor reception. Waitress Kendra was the ABSOLUTE WORST customer service waitress I have ever seen in any situation. She argued when we told her we couldn't hear and also said she would not come over to our side and repeat called numbers. Terrible employee. The neighboring 5 tables next to me couldn't believe her rudeness and laziness as well. I know for all those near me in our table of 6, they have all said this will be the last bingo they would ever play here. Side note...Mary was a fantastic server and worker. Oh boy where do I start? The bad! Upon entering Cowboy Jacks we were ignored by the "I'm not happy to be here hostess". Ok it's a Saturday I'm excited to try this place so I look past it!!! Once we were seated it was time to look at the menu . It wasn't anything fancy but so good staples. We had our cornbread loving 4 year old with us so we started with the cornbread skillet, I ordered the buffalo wrap with a cup of broccoli cheese soup ( I love soup this time a year), my hubby got the breakfast burrito and we ordered our daughter the 6.00 kids chicken sandwich meal!! I had joked with my hubby that I hope the cornbread isn't better then my homemade! Well one bite in and it was no reason I had to worry!! This cornbread was dry, it wasn't sweet at all and had a very funny taste. My husband said mine is better even after a week old!!( gotta love him). Ok so our food comes...my wrap just so so I would not order it again but I did eat half. The soup on the other hand was inedible !!! Cream soup is suppose to be, we'll creamy this was grainy VERY grainy! I couldn't eat it, my daughter didn't like it and my hubby wouldn't try it!!! Now having kids I know what we normally pay and get for kids meals at various restaurants . This was a chicken strip on a dollar for 6.00! Most places around here charge 3-5 dollars for kids meals which typically includes a little treat at the end! Again just not worth it! My hubby ate his but made a few hysterical comments about the taste it left in his mouth!!!!lol The waitress never asked us how our meal was, I'm sure see saw my soup untouched but didn't care!! Are they used to getting complaints so scared to ask anymore? The good... Bloody Mary bar on Sundays and unlimited bloodys on Saturdays may get me back in the door! Celebrated my 40th with a large group on Saturday night. Showed up to cowboy jacks to listen to some country music and have drinks. We were there for 2 rounds if drinks and didn't hear one cowboy/country song. Lots of rap and hip hop music (which I don't mind normally but it's not what we were looking for). Me and my buddy started coming here 2 months ago consistently for happy hour and we simply love it. The jacks ipa is great. The night manager and the bartenders and servers we get are awesome. Super nice and fun to talk to and be around! If your looking for a good evening hangout i would recommend it anytime. Steph and molly are the usual sunday night bartenders and they are fantastic. They really are consistently gross. I had been there for drinks and apps and was not really impressed and decided to give them a try for lunch. At $6 a piece, my kids shared their kids meal which only came with 2 measly chicken strips. My ribs were ok but my baked potato was gross. The place was slamming with the beautiful weather this afternoon. Great vibe in the place. It took at least 10-15 minutes to get our order placed and another 45 minutes to get our food. The Caprese flatbread was incredibly average. Skimpy on basil, chopped pale tomatoes and cracker crunchy crust. There was nothing "bread" about it.Meh. Only thing nice about it was the decor and outdoor seating. Server friendly. Not enough to draw me to comeback. This place is a miss. read more
