Cowboy Pizza is the real deal! I was a bit apprehensive about just how good a pizza joint in Cave Creek could be, but I was so wrong. This was the best pizza I've had so far in Arizona. I ordered the Tuesday special--an XL two-topping pizza for $20. I ordered the pizza with half pepperoni and half sausage. It was crazy good! The crust was airy and delicious and you could tell they use top-notch ingredients. Plus, you definitely cannot beat the price! I'm looking forward to returning during my next visit to Cave Creek. read more

We were staying in a VRBO in the boulders and ordered pizza from here instead of our usual place. The pizza was great! There seems to be a fair amount of Neapolitan style pizza places around there, and this was definitely more traditional, which is what we were looking for. Huge pizzas and huge slices. SUPER Delicious pizza! The best in the north valley. I wish we hadn't waited so long to try it. The waitress was so friendly and kind and helped us with descriptions and decisions. Ended up with the bbq chicken pizza. It was fabulous. Perfectly cooked, the crust is amazing!! The decor is adorable western theme and everything was very clean and tidy. Super casual place. I was very excited to try this place as other Yelpers rave about their delicious crust and I was drawn to their dough fermenting process. Unfortunately I was a little disappointed by the flavor and taste. We ended up ordering Bo's meatball pizza but wasn't anything special. It tasted just like a sausage pizza with less flavor to it. I would have to sadly say that it was pretty tasteless, not to mention the crust was dry and didn't appeal my palette. They serve alcohol but they don't make any cocktails, you choose the type of alcohol and soda. My BF ordered whiskey and soda, all you can taste was the soda. They forgot about our salad so we had to ask for it. Napkins wrapped around the utensils had stains on them, pretty disturbed by it. All in all, would not recommend this place nor go back again. Best pizza in the Carefree Highway area from Lake Pleasant to Scottsdale Road/Tom Darling!! Went Friday night, not much of a crowd. Great pizza 18" Pepperoni, sausage and mushroom. Light, flaky crust, delicate sauce, great ingredients!!! Seriously, best in the area (and I LOVE pizza). Garden salad was fresh and had a good mix of ingredients. Happy Hour Domestic Drafts $5 until 6pm (other specials too, but that is what we had). Top notch!!! Support this place!! read more

Sad to say this but I don't think I'll ever come back up to this establishment again. I used to drive 25-30 just for the pizza here, but they got rid of the best specialty slices and kept some very basic and plain ones. The Cowboy cheesesteak was bland with nothing that made it pop. The hot Hawaiian is no better than anywhere else you could get it. The black truffle mushroom and the loaded baked potato were the best slices I've ever had in this city and I used to recommend all my clients and everyone to this place especially all the people I would pickup from the airport as one of my jobs is a driver. I'm sorry to say I won't be anymore and I hope they bring back the better options and and not make someone wait almost 30m for 2 slices. read more

We have tried a lot of pizza but this is hands down the best the Scottsdale/Cavecreek/Phoenix area! Gluten free specifically is the best around this area so far. Not great as leftovers but perfection when fresh. My favorite is the Truffle mushroom with white sauce pizza. I usually prefer more traditional but that is crave worthy. The atmosphere isn't great, get it to go! read more

5 stars even though last time we were here they slightly messed up and didn't hold the bacon on our potato pizza. We couldn't eat it, but the service was amazing and the place is always very clean. The cheesy bread is to die for and the cheese pizza is excellent. We have gone here 5 or 6 times and actually drive 30 minutes just for the pizza (and great service!) read more

Love this pizza spot. Have had several delicious pizzas as take out for the bike shop I work in. Flavorful toppings with a crisp light crust on each pie we have ordered from here. The toppings are fresh and prepared to order each time. Just like it should be. The Thai pizza is my favorite, but wear a bib because the peanut oil is gonna drench your front side if you're not careful. We got two italian grinders to go that were dry, flavorless and were immediately deposited in a dumpster so we wouldn't have to see them to avoid getting mad. The homemade chilie powder covered potato chips were childlike and don't belong with italian food. read more

Looking for a taste explosion? The mushroom and black truffle pizza at Cowboy Pizza is quite possibly the best pizza my wife and I have ever had. Oh wow, Cowboy pizza! You put other pizzas to shame. So delicious from toppings and cheese to soft and chewy crust. The combination we ordered (Shroom pizza with couple additional toppings) worked out so perfectly. I can't remember the last time I had such delicious slice of pizza. Keep it up! Bring your patience though, ordering over the phone was difficult as it kept going straight to voicemail. This place is packed with lots of takeout orders. Every time I've been here it's been good. But I called and ordered to pick up requesting that they make the pizza well done. I guess it's my fault for not checking but I hate when who's cooking just ignores your request. The pizza was under cooked. There is such a huge difference between barely cooked and well done. NOT COOL. Why would I request it well done and waste my breath, money and time? How hard is it to simply follow directions. Super disappointed. read more

GREAT PIZZA!!! The pizza was so good, I should have got an extra for the next day. Walking in Cowboy Pizza the first thing you see is a line. It's pretty busy, but that's okay. The owner is running around doing everything they can to make sure everyone is taken care of. So nice to see this. The cashier was very helpful and kind. The food came out, we ordered a large Caesar salad, spinach artichoke dip with flatbread, and a supreme pizza. The large censers salad isn't really that large, but it was good. The spinach artichoke dip does not look good at all, it looks pretty gross, but I can assure you it taste pretty good. And the pizza, just try it! Very good stuff. read more

The live music was a perfect touch...not too loud, so you could still have a conversation comfortably. The owner even walked around and spoke with guests, and both he and his wife were incredibly friendly. You can tell they really take pride in the entertainment they provide and in making sure customers have a great experience. As for the food, it reminded me a lot of the pizza at A Modo Mio Cucina Italiana, which is just a few streets away. If you've had and enjoyed their pizza, you'll likely enjoy Pizzicata as well. I ordered the Jennifer calzone, and it was okay. I would try a calzone again, but with different toppings. I added a meatball for an extra $3, and honestly, it didn't quite hit the spot compared to homemade meatballs. The calzone had a lot of ricotta and not a lot of other ingredients in it, so if you're not a big ricotta fan, this probably isn't the best choice. That said, the ricotta itself had a different flavor than other ricotta I'm used to. The calzone doesn't come with sauce inside, and the side of sauce is pretty small. I was charged $0.50 for an extra... I probably could've used two or three sides of sauce since the calzone had none. That being said, the sauce itself was excellent... very close to the flavor of sauce that my family makes. This sauce really gave the calzone a good Taste, it just needed more! We also tried the mozzarella sticks, and those were good. Overall, the atmosphere is beautiful, the space is a nice size, and the staff is warm and welcoming. I would never wait that long to eat in normal circumstances, but when I'm on vacation, my tolerance for waiting goes up. You just gotta have the right mindset. We were originally quoted about 45 minutes, so we walked around the mall, but there's really not much to check out so we returned to the restaurant and grabbed a spot at the bar for drinks. Unfortunately, our phone was on silent (our fault) so we missed the "table is ready call" by about 5 minutes. So even though we were physically at the restaurant, our table was given away. We did not hear anyone call out our name at the restaurant either. I don't think we were necessarily put back on the bottom of the list, but it felt like it, as we had to wait another 45 minutes. Waiting aside, we at least enjoyed the meal. The pizzas had a nice crispy bottom and good toppings. We also visited Pizza Bianca this trip, and preferred that. Ironically, we went to LAMP because we were worried that the wait at Bianca would be too long. But we were seated immediately at Bianca. Go figure! Nevertheless, our meal at LAMP was still good. 2 pizzas and an app was plenty for 3 people.

And if you come at other than peak hours, you can even get happy hour in the main dining room and patio, so we hope to give that a try! We ordered three items: handcrafted meatballs with San Marzano sauce ($10) and rigatoni with pulled chicken ($12) from the happy hour menu and the half Tomaso's Sicilian salad from the regular menu (essentially a happy hour price at only $8). All of it was delicious, but the standout was the salad, which my wife said was even better than the salad she orders when we visit Little Italy in San Diego. That's a huge compliment! The atmosphere isn't quiet, but they didn't have super loud, blaring music when we were there, which was welcome. It's essentially a square dining room with a bar on the side. While the bar patio on the north side of the building isn't much and isn't shaded unless you score a spot with the umbrella or come at a time of day when the building blocks the sun, the main patio is nicely covered and shaded at all times. We look forward very much to coming here again and trying other items they offer, especially the pizzas. It's nice to have another dining option in this part of town. :)

As for the food, it reminded me a lot of the pizza at A Modo Mio Cucina Italiana, which is just a few streets away. If you've had and enjoyed their pizza, you'll likely enjoy Pizzicata as well. I ordered the Jennifer calzone, and it was okay. I would try a calzone again, but with different toppings. I added a meatball for an extra $3, and honestly, it didn't quite hit the spot compared to homemade meatballs. The calzone had a lot of ricotta and not a lot of other ingredients in it, so if you're not a big ricotta fan, this probably isn't the best choice. That said, the ricotta itself had a different flavor than other ricotta I'm used to. The calzone doesn't come with sauce inside, and the side of sauce is pretty small. I was charged $0.50 for an extra... I probably could've used two or three sides of sauce since the calzone had none. That being said, the sauce itself was excellent... very close to the flavor of sauce that my family makes. This sauce really gave the calzone a good Taste, it just needed more! We also tried the mozzarella sticks, and those were good. Overall, the atmosphere is beautiful, the space is a nice size, and the staff is warm and welcoming.
