We can't say enough good things about cactus racks... The service was amazing. The food was so great, good pricing, & fun atmosphere. And the owners even came over to our table to make sure that everything was done just right. They have this homemade cheese sauce that is fantastic and their onion rings were so good and had a great flaky crust and they came with a fantastic homemade ranch dressing. My husband thinks the Chicago style hot dog is the best in town. Best in town award from me is the cheese cake! To be honest I find it difficult to find something on their menu that I enjoy. Meat balls are about the only choice or maybe chicken strips. Their food is very good just limited if you are not into the hot dog Chicago stuff. read more

This may be the worst restaurant in Cave Creek. Service is also poor. The Philly cheesesteak looked absolutely disgusting and tasted worse. Then there was the Italian beef and sausage combo that tied the cheesesteak in the looks department but edged it out in the taste test. Even though there's was absolutely no seasoning and it was the worst Italian beef I've ever had. But it bested the hard fatty sausage that was the other half of the combo. All of this served on a stale roll only made somewhat edible from the greasy peppers. The french fries were good though. The $8 fried ravioli weren't bad as an appetizer but you only get 6 of these little squares the size of a quarter. We were the only ones in there at 4;30 for happy hour and now I know why. Drive past this joint and hit one of the other good restaurants in Have Creek. read more

I just discovered this place 3-4 weeks ago, when searching for a place to play pool, without having to deal with the typical pool hall vibe. And wow, what a gem this has been! From my first visit, I was warmly greeted by one of the owners, Jairo, and he happily explained that he and the other owners had just recently reopened this place with the express goal of creating a family friendly spot that people could enjoy good food and drink, while playing some pool in a safe, well-lit environment, instead of the stereotypical biker bar scene. When I met the other owners, they echoed the previous statements about building a family friendly hang out for the local community. I had more or less stopped playing pool some 20-25 years ago, expressly because of wanting to avoid any sketchy environments and tough crowds, so this was music to my ears! Since that first visit, I have returned multiple times with my wife, and we've always been greeted by name... Hey! Welcome back, Anthony!... and have enjoyed friendly service and exactly the kind of environment they had promised. We've tried a variety of their food, drinks, and desserts (check out the pictures), and most items rate above average for comparable venues, with a special tip of the hat for their homemade desserts! (Although those fries and onion rings are killer too!) They have a full bar and good beer selection to check out as well. Now, as for the main attraction for me, those pool tables? Wow, these Diamond tables are among the nicest I've ever had the privilege of playing on! No ripped or stained cloth. Perfectly level. True rails. Tight pockets. Regularly cleaned and polished pool balls. They have a decent selection of house cues for folks just checking it out, but you'd also feel right at home bringing in your own cue to play more seriously. They have all sorts of regular players, leagues, and tournaments too! I'm still working on shaking the rust off my game, but it has been such a fun experience, and on occasion I've even enjoyed some humbling lessons from playing the regulars or owners. (Yes, they aren't just business people... they actually enjoy the game, and shoot really well too!) The North side of town has been sorely lacking a spot like this, and if my review hasn't made it clear, I'm thrilled they are here! Well, I really wanted to love the Italian beef here so I didn't have to drive down to Portillo's, but sadly, I cannot rave about it. Hot dogs were good (its a hot dog), fries were good, the Italian beef as far as tenderness, dipped just right, good peppers and bread BUT so darned salty I could barely eat it. I had to drink something after each bite just to try and kill the salt. The cheese sauce for my fries also cannot compare to the one at Portillos. They have that solid yellow smooth cheesy sauce. Here it is lumpy, is the only way to describe it and kind of runny. Barely any real cheesy flavor to it, but the texture was off. Anyway, maybe I 'll try some other things but go elsewhere for my beef sandwich. read more

This place promotes Drama. Idk if it's because of the pool hall or what. I was attacked by a drunk customer. Yelled at by a young waitress. Scolded by a mature bartender. Asked to leave by the younger owner & then the older owner did nothing. As a customer who went in for dinner.. to get that type of treatment by staff was unprofessional & unacceptable. Rack's has one of the best smash burgers I've eaten! The cheese steak is tasty and huge. The Italian Beef is amazingly authentic ( and when they say beef, they mean beef! Let's not forget the cheese cake, I crave it all the time. I've only done takeout and order ahead and has been ready within 15 minutes of my call. I'm happy that it's here. read more

I love how this place has been remodeled, it's family owned. Everything I've tried has been delicious. Prices are reasonable unlike the previous bbq restaurant. I especially like the servers, they work their butts off but are always so cheerful. I played some pool, really nice tables and super nice people playing at the tables. Ordered 2 Philly cheesesteak sandwiches with fries meat was greasy and smelled horrible the fries tasted like fish because the oil must of been old! I know they are new. Service from Wendy was great. No drink menu although it's a full bar. A specialty drink menu would be good. Pasta with pesto and chicken and my husband Philly cheesesteak were so-so. Side salad was ok. Dressing was bottled. the ambiance is cleaner than the predecessor restaurant. No greeting when we entered. Owner was there and no enthusiasm from him. Just talking about people who order a Chicago Dog with ketchup. If you want to play pool/billiards, this might be your spot. I've gone to Cactus Racks many times for lunch and dinner. They have a very diversified menu. Everything I've had to eat was superb. The smashburger is outstanding. As good or better than the high end burger joints. Also, the sausage and pasta dish is very authentic and tastes like Grandma's. Their meatball sub is killer. You should really stop in give it try. Five of us for dinner - had burgers, chicken sandwich and pasta - all good. The burger size was generou and cooked perfectly, the bun was fresh, the fries and onion rings were very good. We are picky about eating fresh, good quality food and were happy to see that was the case here. The service was great - the owners were very nice. We played pool while waiting for our food to arrive - which was nice to have something to do while waiting (but the wait was not long) - and played a few more times after dinner. Great service and fantastic food. Brought my friends whose wife is from the Chicago area.She raved about the Chicago hot dog so much that she ordered another one. Also loved the onion rings. I had the chicken sandwich which allowed me to customize what i wanted on it with many choices. It was great. We met the owner who came to our table . She was so pleasant to talk to.
