This is another very good restaurant. We have been there many times over the years and it is a good place to get a great steak. We were there last Thursday and had the bone in ribeye. It was cooked exactly like it should have been. The salad was good too. The only thing I can say that is not so good is that the baked potato was a little hard like it was cooked in a microwave. Pretty good spot located in downtown Helen. If you've been to Helen, then you know the restaurants in the area can be hit or miss. Thank goodness for Yelp! Cowboys and Angels has a vast exterior compared to a smaller interior. The service we received was excellent. Their menu has a lot of traditional American fare. This was one of the best steaks I have ever had. I ordered the ribeye, gouda mac-n-cheese, and a ceasar salad. The salad was delicious and the lettuce was crisp. The steak was perfectly cooked and had a ton of flavor. I could have easily eaten all of it but forced myself to leave enough for leftovers. It was just as good reheated the next day. They are pet-friendly and have a nice large covered patio. My server was friendly and attentive. The food came out fast and she didn't leave me waiting overly long to get the check. We came here last Saturday while visiting Helen with family members that came from Miami, FL. Our waitress was super attentive and friendly. There was a wait time of approximately 35 minutes or so but it was Valentine's Day too. We ordered our drinks which were really yummy except the Porch Pounder that I didn't like at all, it was sort of bitter to me. Our food came out really fast I must say and boy we were in for a treat. From the appetizer of the "Pork Belly" which was super yummy to the "Truffle Hawg" Burger I ordered with a side of "Gouda Mac N' Cheese". All of us were soo very pleased with the food selections we had chosen. Even the following day we were still talking about the food and how we wish we could've went back to this restaurant. Our family members can't wait to come back to visit so we can go back and eat there. But my partner and I will defy make a trip to it since we live in Atlanta. I wish I could give more. We waited about 40 minutes (that's totally fine). I ordered an beer and chose Alfredo pasta with chicken. My table family ordered shrimp grits, burguer and Salmon. After 10 minutes my plata arrived with same pasta as Mac and cheese, I asked about the panne and the waiter told me "probably they run out". I understand if they didn't have, but never asked me if I would like to choose another plate or another kind of pasta. We hit the jackpot of all servers with Cody. He was personable, made fantastic recommendations, and was uber patient because I can be I indecisive when it comes to meal selection. He brought us our drinks ($5 for a German import was reasonable) while we settled in to listen to live music and peruse the menu. We started with fried green tomatoes. They were crisp and deliciously topped with bacon and a side of remoulade. My husband got a Philly cheesesteak with fries and an extra side of hush puppies. They were generous portions and, although I'm not a hushpuppy fan, I loved the crispy on the outside, soft on the inside battered fries. He enjoyed all of it. I ordered my bison burger medium which is necessary because if cooked more, it can tend to dry out. It's a really lean and juicy piece of meat when cooked right. Mine was cooked perfectly. It was so good & large that I brought half of it home. The cole slaw is homemade and brought me back to my childhood with more mayo than vinegar. Yum. Cody recommended a chicken breast for our dog and we indulged her. We asked for no seasoning but found it sprinkled with pepper on one side. We scraped it off but because it was grilled, much of the chicken was scraped off with it. If we do that again, we'll probably just send it back for a redo. It's good food, but I have a few complaints. Most of the seating was outdoors, so we were slightly rained on. Also, the portions were very small, at least that gives you room to eat other things throughout the day. Helen Georgia~ On vacation and this place looked like a fun spot for drinks and food. The name was catchy too! There were 6 of us, but only 4 ate. We each had something different and every entree was really fresh and tasty! Buttermilk Chicken~moist, crunchy, and delicious! The corn & asparagus sides were yummy too. Catfish with collard greens (recommended by our server, Jack) and coleslaw! Perfectly breaded catfish that had no fishy taste. Our server was right when he recommended the collard greens. I don't usually eat those, but they were out of this world. Good call! A garden salad with a seared scallop on top was super yummy too. They even had goat cheese feta, which was perfect for my dairy free friend. To round off the entrées, we had a cheeseburger with fries! Juicy burger! This place is popular with locals as it's one of the few non-German restaurants in Helen. They are known for their burgers and steaks. I had the pickled peach burger and it was delicious. The apple bacon jam and caramelized onions gave it a nice flavor. The breaded fries were pretty good too. My only complaint was that I ordered medium rare and it was medium well. Not our first visit but our last. We visited a couple of weeks ago to celebrate my husband's 65th birthday with a party of six adults. It was a Sunday evening, and the restaurant did not appear to be especially busy. After we were seated, three of us ordered martinis. When the drinks arrived, they contained so much vermouth that we were unable to enjoy them. We apologized, explained that the drinks were not to our taste, and sent them back while ordering something different. One person in our party even stopped by the bar to apologize again and clarify that the amount of vermouth simply was not our preference. Unfortunately, rather than acknowledging the concern, the bartender responded defensively, spoke over her, and began explaining how a martini is made. After waiting roughly another 20 minutes for our food, a couple of us attempted to order glasses of wine. The bartender, who also appeared to be acting as the manager, came to the table and said she was cutting us off. When we asked what had happened, she stated that she was not going to argue with us and would not make any additional drinks. A few minutes later, she walked by again and told us to leave, saying she would not be disrespected and that we were trespassing. We are still unclear what prompted such a strong reaction, but the interaction felt unnecessarily escalated. We got up to leave just as our food was being brought to the table, which was a disappointing end to what was meant to be a special birthday dinner. As a group of adults in our 60s who have dined at many restaurants, including fine dining establishments, this was unlike any experience we have had before. We understand that preferences can vary, especially with cocktails, but the way the situation was handled felt unprofessional and unnecessarily confrontational. Overall, it was a very disappointing experience and not the kind of service we expected for a special birthday celebration. read more

I showed up and they did have my reservation. They were extremely busy. The food was good. I had the filet with Mac and cheese and collards. The collards were delicious!!! My steak was cooked perfectly but it came out cold, not even warm. So I took away the one star. My friend ordered the 28 ounce ribeye and he said it was delicious. I was super excited about this meal during a recent trip to Helen, GA. Despite the hostess LITERALLY screaming names out from the stand, the restaurant had an incredible outdoor dining area that was perfect for our group trip and very spacious. There was music that was a little on the loud side, but the menu was awesome and the wine was flowing and it fed into the overall mood. I was torn between the wedge salad and the fried chicken, so I asked if I could have the wedge salad, but ONE bone-in chicken breast on the side. I was told it was no problem. Fast forward 30 minutes and I got a chopped salad with cold chicken tenders cut up on top. Apparently the wedge salad is a 'chopped wedge salad'??? When the chicken tenders were cold, I asked if I could get what I ordered and was next delivered a boneless chicken breast plopped on top of the same salad...at least it was lukewarm. It was fine. The meal was fine. It was a nice break after 5 chicken schnitzel meals, but I probably wouldn't recommend this as my 1st choice. If you love LOUD music, this is the place. The live music is actual trash. Felt like live karaoke but the volume would rattle windows. No big deal, we ask to go inside. Upon being seated, the kitchen staff DJ had music so loud, our party of 6 couldn't hear each-other and we couldn't even hear the horrible live concert outside. While the server was taking our order, he has to continually ask "huh?" "Say again?" "What was that?" Due to the insane music volume. (Ps. Our group was aged 25-29 so no old prudes. We love music. However when we can't hear one another sitting beside each other, it's a problem.) Our server took our drink and food order, and never came back even after the "food runner" brought our plates. While the server was attempting to take our order, someone from the kitchen was SCREAMING "FOOD RUNNERS I NEED A F*CKING FOOD RUNNER NOW" over and over. Our server halted our order, apologized", and ran to the kitchen after apologizing for "Brandon's" behavior. This screaming for servers/food runners didn't stop the entire dinner. The food is okay.
