Paul steakhouse was a disappointment for us. The staff was amazing however chicken was extremely tough. The steaks are all pre seasoned so anyone with allergies cannot have steak. Prime rib was ok however and coleslaw I found spicy. Be aware they charge a big surcharge to use card there! read more

The restaurant looks fancier than it is, and it has a great view of the river. The menu is full of beef and seafood dishes for piles of money. I ordered the rainbow trout. It came with two sides but there were no vegetable sides other than potatoes (baked or mashed potatoes) I even asked the server but his only suggestion was the salad. Okay, I had a baked potato and the salad. The salad was pretty good with fresh romaine lettuce and two grape tomatoes and a spoonful of grated carrot. It was minimal but I still appreciated something green. My trout was broiled nicely and tasted good. The potato was plain but well-cooked. For the price its awful, youre paying a tourist tax for the view and they might not even sit you where you get the view. It would be alright if it were maybe a quarter of the price. $$ Right next-door to Paul's steakhouse is Paul's margarita deck, which overlooks the Chattahoochee river with plenty of seating riverside! We stopped here just for a quick snack... Margarita and some onion rings. You order your drink and food with the bartender and you pick up your food at the kitchen window. There's plenty of condiments in the cafeteria style kitchen area. The best thing was sitting Riverside on the deck and watching the people in the in tubes flow by. Great conversation, great weather, and pretty solid pub food. Safe journeys! read more

Wow incredible food 1/2 rack of ribs huge and my large shrimp were colossal in size as were their baked potatoes. The side salads were fresh and refreshing. A must go to in Helen! Every time we go to Helen this is the first place we stop We pay $20 to park but they give you $20 coupon to use inside. So it's basically free. We have the souvenir mugs and our michelob beer refill is $12 for a 32oz. They have live Good music more dancing music late. Lemon drop shots are amazing! We also got the cheese fries. I ordered the ribeye & lobster tail and my Husband ordered the Salmon & lobster tail. Both pricey but it was our Anniversary. Received our salad, nothing much lettuce, carrots and a few cherry tomatoes. Then we received our meals. The lobsters were decent but I have had better but my steak was horrible. It literally looked like it was taken from the freezer to the microwave and then pressed on the grill. It tasted awful, I couldn't eat it. My husband felt bad and offered his lobster to me, which he knows is my favorite but I couldn't eat anything else in that place. We didn't complain to the waitress but she knew something was wrong but never said anything. I went up to the register to pay and told the cashier/manager that the food was horrible. For a birthday dinner while on vacation we chose Paul's. Had we read the reviews first, we would have kept on walking! The beef tips tasted as if they were boiled, so so disappointing and quite frankly not eatable. The bill was over $50.00 for two without drinks. This experience has taught me to always read reviews. My advise to anyone thinking of eating there, keep walking. The server was a nice guy and attentive. I've been wanting to try this restaurant for years. We come to Helen at least once a year. Finally stopped by with family a few days before Christmas. We were able to get in right away without a reservation. Unfortunately service was extremely slow. We saw a family ask to be moved to a different section because of this particular server's slow service. He really needed some help. My brother ordered a beer, server went to go get our beverages, came back to tell him they were out of what he ordered. This process repeated about 3 times until my brother finally said "Tell me what you do have then." It took a long time to get food. Then when it did arrive, most were unhappy with the quality. Baked potatoes weren't cooked through enough. (Centers were still hard.) Flavor lacked in a few of the meals. My brother ordered grilled shrimp, but was brought fried shrimp. He told them he'd eat it anyway. My lobster was raw in the middle. They did take it back and cooked a new one. It came out overcooked, but I'd rather that than raw. Honestly, they should have offered to comp that part because brining out raw food is just dangerous, and they should have comped the shrimp that were incorrect for My brother.
