This was our second restaurant we visited from the Rooted Hospitality Group. Rumba was by far the best. The scenery from Cowfish was beautiful, the ambiance delightful, but that is where it ends. We had three people in our party. We were seated upstairs with a beautiful view. Our waitress Casey H. took our drink order as well as appetizer. The appetizer was Spinach and Artichoke Dip served with corn chips. The Spinach and Artichoke Dip tasted like Trader Joe's. I explained to the waitress I was allergic to corn and crab. She apologized and brought some raw vegetables for me. When I placed my dinner order I reiterated my allergies and Casey H. assured me that they would remove any crab. As the others in my party were getting served their dinner, I was told I needed to order something else as the dinner I ordered had crab juice in it. The waitress knew my allergies. I ordered another item. It was a shrimp dish. I received order and there are corn kernels all over my food. The dish I ordered had no mention of corn. I ended up taking all the corn out of my food. It was very upsetting to me because by doing that I ended up with mouth ulcers. It's a shame that one waitress can cause such an issue with a customer with allergies because she doesn't know enough to write down my allergies or didn't know enough to what is contained in the food. read more

Cowfish is one of my favorite restaurants in the Hamptons. The setting is lovely in both summer and winter. The tables are well spaced and it's a cozy place in winter. I especially enjoy their VIL program for local residents. But the most important is the food. It is consistently well prepared, imaginative and most importantly delicious. The skillet cornbread is a good thing to share. And the Gibbs burger is great! I love taking people there in the summer because it's on the water and the outdoor bars are perfect for a before dinner cocktail. read more

If you go during peak times, expect to wait and be prepared to be okay with it. We had 2 hour wait for a party of 6, but sat outside by the bar, watched the sunset, and had some delicious drinks (Rum punch and Homewrecker for my husband and 1). We also had some chips and guac at the bar. Plenty of places to sit or stand while waiting. I even saw some people with blankets sprawled out in the lawn. I could have sat out there longer but our table was ready exactly when expected. For dinner, the salmon was one of the best seafood dishes I've had in Long Island. read more

Frank was our server and was amazing! We are traveling from Florida and he told us where to go and what is closed during this season which was super nice of him! The food was really good fresh ingredients and meats/fish the quality is amazing! The only thing is I asked for a spicy margarita and they didn't have the spicy mix for the drink and I wanted scallops and they only had the small ones so it seemed like they didn't have all the stuff on the menu on hand! For our 50th wedding anniversary which no one could have predicted would be spent under quarantine, we decided to order take out from our favorite "go to" restaurant in Hampton Bays, Cowfish. We ordered from their "Family Meals to Go" menu. Steak $115 was our meal choice and were blown away by how outstanding a meal it was, complete with a bottle of wine. Came here for brunch today and had a really great experience ! Our waitress Jessica was really friendly and personable ! She answered all of our questions and explained the dishes we wanted to know about. The food was all excellent! I had the tournedos which was steak and eggs. It was a good sized portion. Oh, my goodness... dreadful. Went with a friend and ordered five appetizers and drinks at lunchtime. First, finding your way to the place - back through an alley - is creepy. And It was full daylight. Then, each app was smothered with goop. And way cold. No use trying to taste the seafood or chicken under all the congealed dressings. The service was fine, and drinks, meh. - The view of the water is stunning. But there are ocean, bay, canal, and sound views everywhere out here. I only had drinks at the outside bar, so my review is only based on that. I went late afternoon on a Saturday, it was starting to fill up, lots of "parties" people celebrating several different occasions . I sat at the outside bar, it was very busy and active, most people were waiting for tables to eat dinner. The bartenders were very good and the drinks were made correctly and tasted good, well balanced. They have a big parking lot and valet parking. The entrance can be hard to find and it takes you down a narrow drive to the restaurant which is in a marina. I suggest you go early, on a nice night this place will be a made house. read more

Cowfish has great quality food. It's located on the water with great views of the bay. The downside about Cowfish is it gets extremely busy sometimes with up to an hour wait. It's valet parking, so you don't have to worry about finding a spot. read more

Me and my girlfriend ate at Cowfish a few days ago. We ordered sushi as an appetizer. I forget exactly which one, but I do recall it was loaded with crab. I also had the ribs and she had some sort of fish sandwich. Overall, our food was very good. For that, you get 5 stars. Now, where it went wrong... We were seated without utensils but noticed after we ordered our appetizers. Of course we needed napkins during our meal. Our waiter Mike was nowhere to be found. The appetizers arrived and we still do not have utensils. We ate our sushi and received utensils after. Thanks to the hostess for noticing we needed them. Then our main courses arrive. While eating we could of used a water refill, once again, Mike is nowhere to be found. We finish our food then wait about 10-12 min for our table to be cleared. We spot Mike assisting everyone but us. He came to the table directly behind us 3 times and didn't come our way to clear our table. He finally gets to our table and clears it. Not once did he refill our cups. He tried to rush off and I stopped him and asked for more water. Mike seemed to concerned with other tables and concerned with sweeping up instead of checking on us. Me and my girlfriend felt singled out. We thought maybe he had something against us. The entire exchange was just very awkward. No eye contact, not a smile. He was very dry but not rude. I understand Cowfish gets busy but there were several times he could of popped by to ask if everything was ok. It takes a few seconds. He literally did not come to our table once. Came here on a Wednesday afternoon right when they opened. Our server, Allegra, was extremely nice and very attentive. She answered any questions we had about the menu. Ordered the clam chowder which was amazing. I also got the blackened whitefish sandwich was also great. I normally get nervous about ordering any type of fish because I'll either really like it or hate it, and it was so good. We got dessert , my boyfriend ordered the banana cream pie and I got the skillet cookie. We also got the French press coffee. THIS COFFEE WAS INCREDIBLE!!!! Sooooo sooooo good. Honestly the best coffee I have ever tasted. My boyfriend said that he would be fine with traveling all the way out here ( we live in the Huntington area) just for coffee and dessert. One of my favourite restaurants to eat at in the Hamptons!! When I am not ordering the amazing Maui wowi roll I make sure to order the chicken Caesar which has amazing CORN BREAD CROUTONS!! These croutons are amazing and the salad is even better. Another one of my favourites to order is the kale salad, which has a light an fruity taste, with a delicious lemon vinaigrette dressing! Also make sure to order the cookie skillet for dessert; this cookie is loaded with chocolate chips, drizzled in caramel and topped with a generous scoop of vanilla ice cream. The cookie is served right out of the oven with a warm soft gooey center and it is absolutely delicious! Don't think twice just go eat at Cowfish! read more

The location is spectacular. However, I find the food overpriced and undersized in the normal nouvelle cuisine sort of way.

This evening, our party of 6 went to Cowfish in Hampton Bays, New York. We were asked to wait 40 minutes for the table we requested outside, overlooking the bay and the sailboats. We were walked upstairs to the wrong side of the restaurant, outdoors, where the sun was beating down, causing us to start sweating a lot. We asked for a table in the shade or a table on the correct side of the restaurant, but we were told that that would be another 45 minutes. The table next to ours that was in the shade, we were told, was reserved for another party. No matter how kindly we asked if we could have a shady table, we were told, "No." The waitress came to our sun-drenched table, holding a menu, fanning herself with it the entire time she spoke with us. I respectfully asked the seating manager if we could please have another table, and she looked at me as if she were saying, "Who the hell do you think you are. You will be lucky, Buster, if we find you another table." A few minutes passed, and we were told that there was one window table downstairs that we could have. So, we walked downstairs. Right next to the window with sailboats and the bay were two tables that could be put together for a party of six. However, the employee walked our party to a window table on the other side of the restaurant, a dark window that was completely covered by the leaves of a large plant. Two of us stood by the table with the excellent view, as the table was being reset. The staff looked at us, and shook their head, "No, you do not get that table, you get the other table, without a view." We sat down at the better table, and management decided not to remove us from that table. Then, I ordered clam chowder as an appetizer, and it arrived cold. Nine minutes later, the waitor, Patrick, took the soup away from the table and promised to replace it right away. 20 minutes later, with no new soup, I cancelled my order. 1 minute later, the soup was delivered to the table, long after everyone else had finished their first course. Patrick said to me, "Because your soup was delivered cold, and then you had such a long wait for the replacement soup, there will be no charge for the soup." When the bill arrived, the soup, in fact, was on the check. What a pity. It was not removed. By mistake, other people's food was delivered to our table, as well. Twice. Clearly, the serving staff does not know one table from another. The food tonight was simply mediocre and the service was the same. The customer service in the beginning was simply awful. Was my swordfish alone worth $32.00? Not at all. I shall never again dine at this establishment. When they walked our party to the most unappealing table they had, they should have just said, "Why don't you just dine somewhere else." Was this meal worth $300? Not a chance. Please think twice or three times before dining at Cowfish Restaurant. 100% disappointment. read more
