Great dinner at Cowfish our new favorite place in Hampton Bays, great food , service , drinks and ambiance with great views of the marina. We had Ceviche appetizer and the guac and chips were tasty. Spent two days at the a Hamptons with dear friends and decided to go for an "Americana" experience. We enjoyed cocktails by the bay and then had dinner inside this marvelous place. Great food and most of the servers know the menu and how to advise on dishes and wines. I've been here several times and each time was very good. I loved the kale salad, salmon, burgers, shoestring fries, and any wines I chose to have with these meals. The place is really jammed from early on each weekend, so if you're going for dinner try on the early side, if not you'll wait upstairs at the bar in winter or outside at the bar in summer. Cowfish is a great restaurant to have in the community. While the menu gets a bit stale and could be a little better value, the burger is one of the best in the area and the kale salad is nice. The new upscale place to be. The 2nd restaurant from the owner of Rumba does not disappoint. The outside bar is spectacular and gives great views. While it is pricey, you are paying for the ambiance more than anything. I would suggest the inside bar as it is tight and has no real redeeming characteristics. The food in general is good. It was nothing spectacular but nothing bad either. If you are looking to enjoy a cocktail and the weather, then this is a great spot! read more

seriously over-rated much like its sister restaurant "rumba". the applebees esq menu leaves much to be desired with its generic salads/sandwiches/burgers. cowfish also offers a meager sushi menu with a whopping total of 2 dishes (none of which are actual sushi). 1 cooked crab roll and a simple tuna poke was about all the culinary geniuses could concoct. im glad they dedicate a sushi chef to making just 2 dishes...it seems really smart. the interior is definitely refreshed from its indian cove days. new paint has livened it up a bit in and various scattered furniture from restoration hardware outlet in tanger gives it a much more contemporary feel. as for the food....try harder. best maxta p read more

A great environment whether it's friends for drinks a romantic night or a family night out. My first visit winter of 2015. So the menu was not the seasonal menu but their option were great for the Christmas season. The service was excellent and very attentive. Our waiter was kind and our food came out on time Just to enjoy the company as well. Great food I must say and the views of water made it so much more special. I will definitely go back when it warmer weather to enjoy the outdoor scenery and be able to take the boat to the bar crowd at their sister restaurant Rhumba. Can't wait for the season. Great happy hour (3-5 half off apps and margs!), delicious brunch, gorgeous views, and a great atmosphere! The boyfriend and I love Cowfish. Perfect place to relax with friends and enjoy awesome margaritas in the afternoon or their to die for bananas foster French toast for brunch. They have a shuttle boat that will take you to Rumba as well which is such a fun little boat ride to complete the experience! Man, does this place do some business!!! We came here on a Wednesday night, not thinking it would be too crowded...lets just say, thank gawd we made reservations!! We were seated when we arrived (again, thankfully we had reservations). We had 5 kids with us and they were given wiki sticks and a coloring book set which was nice. We ordered the deviled eggs, lobster stuffed mushrooms, oysters Hamptons (amazing), and spinach artichoke dip for apps. All very tasty. My only complaint was that they did not give enough chips for the spinach dip, and when we asked for more, they literally brought out a tiny bowl with 5 more chips in it. There were 5 adults sharing apps--gee thanks, we got another chip each. For dinner all our entrees were tasty. The service was friendly and quick despite how crowded it was. Even valet parking moved pretty quickly despite the long line. And let me not forget to mention the spectacular view...you're right on the water. They also have a boat that will take you back and forth to Rhumba if you want to go to either for drinks/dinner. All in all a great place! read more

Terrible food and service. Decided to eat at the upstairs bar where the nice view is (the only thing this restaurant has going for it). Ordered a bottle of wine (which was extremely overpriced) then decided on the tempting $30. Price fixe menu. We ordered clam chowder with bartender, then she disappeared. Another woman served our soup...then we were completely alone at the upstairs bar with COLD soup for at least ten minutes before the bartender briefly returned (she must have been waiting tables somewhere else). We decided at that point that if they can't get soup right than the rest of the meal will surely be a disaster. We said we would just finish the wine in our glass and take the bottle with us. Then, she disappeared again The soup server came back again and she closed out our check. Probably another ten minutes after we paid, she offered us hummus. Seriously? How about a discount instead? Don't you think that would have been a better thing to do? It wasn't until we had coats on and we're leaving did the bartender ask if we needed a bag for the wine bottle. We said no and she said "well you have to if your taking it with you" (like we were stupid). Why would she ask then? We then waited downstairs for her to get the bag sealed. The whole point of my review is to let people know that this restaurant does not have it's act together. I'm tired of these all style no substance restaurants. read more

They should have spent more time on menu planning then the decor. No vegetarian options on the menu and unable to accommodate a veg/vegan other than a salad. I heard rave reviews for the buffalo shrimp but it tasted more like BBQ and was $12 for 3 shrimp. Drinks are weak and tasted like soda. This place is a great setting for dinner and drinks. Location is fantastic and the food is sold. The only reason I leave 2 stars is because I got a call from my CC company and apparently their bartenders like to , ummm add tips to bills after you signed. This was the second time this happened to me at this place and both times the CC company took care of it. But be warned, ask for a copy of the final receipt since their bar-tending staff seems to be known in the area for adding gratuity to bills. read more

First thing in going to say is: COME HERE. Okay so, my boyfriend an I are literally on our way home from cowfish right now. Our experience was amazing from the moment we sat down. Our waitress, Rita, was soo sweet and friendly. We first ordered rum punches and chips and gauc. Our drinks came quickly and about 5 minutes went by after and Rita brought us out the deviled eggs app. She said "we have guac, it's just not ready yet, so I brought you the deviled eggs in the meantime." First of all, the deviled eggs were absolutely amazing, and second, she did not have to do that! So sweet. (Our guac came out 10 mins later, if that.). We ordered our entrees, 2 of their specials that day (a salmon dish and and swordfish dish)...After one bite my boyfriend started to feel nauseous and weak (we had spent 6 hours at cupsogue, on beautiful but HOT day) and from there it went downhill, but everyone there was so generous and helpful the whole time. Especially our waitress, Rita and the manager Matt. Matt brought my boyfriend cool towels, a bag of ice and to top it off, he brought over a to-go of the swordfish entree, ON TOP of the swordfish we had wrapped up. We took a trip out east..we love to do that before it all gets crazy with endless traffic .. We had made reservations..but upon our arrival, no one asked..At 6:30 ,the place was pretty packed..we were seated by a window, great views ( after all the snow, a genuine treat for the eyes..if things,moments to come..) our server Nicole was awesome..made great recommendations as well as accommodated our allergy issues..we had the oysters( yum!),mushrooms, and a side salad..all very tasty. We ordered the cod(just perfectly prepared) ribs( meaty,flavorful...devoured..only the bones were left!)..the desserts and coffee( French pressed,just delightful)..oh I can't go without mentioning their drink selection ,which had some interesting items..one of which was.."Sexual Chocolate"...a California red....which was pretty good. Can't wait to go back..on this particular night, it wasn't loud, but it was packed. Mixed experiences. First night we just went for drinks. The outside bartender played on his phone and talked to other staff over serving us and other guests. The cornbread skilet was definitely the best thing we ordered, but okay in flavor. The swordfish steak was cooked well but lacked flavor, the scallops were very salty, and the blackened fish sandwich was average. Before Rumbas moved in, that property was a dead location and now it is flourishing- and likely continue in its success. I enjoy Rumbas, even if it does have a limited menu. What it does have is made well and presented well and delicious enough to come back for. Service has been pretty decent too. That being said- CowFish is on the same level. They took that location and turned it into a goldmine. The perfect hamptons restaurant- much needed in the area. The Rum Barge cruises down the canal shuttling people between both restaurants. I mean, no one ever thought of a better idea! So I have to give a positive review complimenting the ingenuity of the owners. They must be creative and clever people. The only negative comment I would add is that CowFish is slightly more expensive than Rumba, especially in the sushi department. I would say a nearly $30 roll/creation here is truly worth say $12. read more

We went here with a group of friends for my brothers birthday this past weekend. They wouldn't seat us until our entire party had shown up (which I expected) so the hostess recommend we grab a drink at one of their 3 bars. We chose the outdoor one since the weather was in our favor (although the forecast had been calling for rain). It worked out perfectly! They had live music and the outdoor bar was enormous! The bartender came right over and was super sweet! The drinks were tasty and strong, and cost each of us about $11 average per drink. I had made a reservation for 6:30pm and was nervous when the rest of our party was running about 10 minutes late. However, once they arrived we were seated right away. But then, it kind of went down hill. Regardless of how nice the environment was, our waitress didn't initially come to the table until about 10 minutes after we had sat down - not even to ask for our drink order. Then, trying to grab her between ordering and being served our food was nearly impossible. One of the people from our group wound up having to get up and find her a few times. The food was average. Everyone ordered a burger and enjoyed it except for me. I had the salmon which was "chef selected" and paid $36 - a price that was not listed on the menu, and was EXTREMELY over priced considering what came on the plate; a salmon filet with two salad concoctions that were very tasty, but not very proportionate, and NOT worth $36 total. Granted I take blame for not asking the price before ordering, yet still, it was WAY over priced. Additionally, the taste wasn't anything to write home about. After we ate we hung around the outdoor bar for a few more drinks, then conveniently caught the small tiki boat that runs back and forth from Cowfish to Rumba. The boat ride was very relaxing and arrived about every 10 minutes or so for pick ups. We got right on with no wait. The same went for when we decided to return to Cowfish. So, overall the experience was nice. I've been to Rumba for a meal as well and definitely prefer to go there based on food and service quality. I would go back to Cowfish, but probably only for the spaciousness of the restaurant, and the outdoor bar. read more

Definitely happy with our dinner. To begin with - my kettle one dirty martini was perfect. We ordered a few different sushi options and enjoyed each of them. Entree's were ok, nothing special. When we return we will probably stick to the appetizers and sushi rolls....and of course a dirty martini. read more
