Me and my family come here a lot, so it is no surprise I rate this place five stars. The property is amazing, and the food is fantastic. The staff is very nice so dont feel afraid to ask them questions. It is a good place to bring younger children because they have a pirate ship playset for them to burn of energy. I have to tell you this is one of my favorite restaurants out east. GREAT drinks and the scenery and vibe is amazing. For the drinks, vibe, and scenery I give a 5/5....now for my 3/5- this is not a cheap restaurant by any means and the service does not match the price of the menu. When you go to Cowfish, you get subpar service when it should be the exact opposite! But nevertheless, it is a wonderful place to go in the summer. Impromptu trip to the Hamptons to pick up wine at Wolffer Estates (total score their stuff is old world and just the best) and we're invited to stay over by friend in Hampton Bays. Cowfish for dinner, a wait on a Monday, a good sign. Wait was a little longer than promised but so what. Waiter was great, apps and dinner was too. Dessert - epic fail. Banana Cream Pie has bananas in it guys, not around it. See the reason is simple; warm custard reacts with bananas and multiplies the flavor causing deliciousness. Lack of Sweet coupled with dark chocolate that had no foil to compliment its own flavor profile leads to group of confused ingredients not knowing their roles. Also it was a mess (dropped?). Would I go back, a resounding yes! But I'll bring my own Pie lol. read more

Wish I could give no stars. Service was chaotic, slow and rude. Drove an hour on vacation to try this place with a group of people for a birthday party. Arrived and promptly seated with our reservation-- however-- they only do online menu viewing. Which there's minimal to no service and they didn't provide us with any wifi option. When we voiced our inability to load the menu they said we'll just take a screen shot and send it to each other when it does load. We asked about paper menus to which she said " no we'd have to throw those out if we gave them to you". Not okay. We then had our server, who introduced herself as such, gave us water but then was never to be seen again. A second server came over, still no drink order taken and just asked what we wanted to eat. We had no menus and asked for some paper ones which we eventually had found on our own at the host station!! Finally drinks were ordered and then apps. But the drinks never came and the apps came out in 2 mins as if it's all premade under a heat lamp. The cornbread was good otherwise the rest was mediocre. First round of Drinks came out after our apps were done, approx 20 mins after ordering them. Then for the meal..... RAW scallops and overcooked dry salmon. For the price the food was horrific. Two of the people from our party had GI issues later that night. Just an awful awful experience. Please avoid. They have a nice layout with outdoor seating by water but the food and service are horrific. Maybe good a drink and that's it. read more

We have been here many, many times and are always satisfied when we walk out the door. If you know you are going to be here, make a reservation. If you show up without you might wait a bit, but it's worth it. Upstairs is a bit more casual then the downstairs part, and outside is super fun on a nice day/evening. The fish dishes are fresh and the drinks are great. They also have a solid wine selection if that is what you are looking for to go with your food. During the summers it has a nice crowd and is a fun place to hang out even after you go elsewhere for dinner. You can also drive up in your boat, they have docks, if that's your thing! read more

We finished with the banana cream pie. I had two home wrecker cocktails, and while I am not a fan of mango, the mango and cucumber made a delicious sweet and savory cocktail that wasn't too sweet. They were delicious! The portions were perfect, service was impeccable, and we were checked in often by servers and managers to ask how we were faring. One of the best hidden locations in the Hamptons. Although well known, it can definitely be under-appreciated from the outside. When driving by on the highway, you'd never know what paradise awaits on the inside. Their outdoor bar is incredible. It has a great atmosphere/vibe, and is beautiful. The view doesn't disappoint. They offer a boat ride to another restaurant down the bay. The food is alright. Expect to spend a lot of money. The prices are pretty high. It was $60 for 2 appetizers, and 2 drinks. I'm so sad that each time I come back here, my experience gets worse. :( Hostess: EPIC FAIL We had reservations for 7pm (party of four). The hostess told my mother-in-law that it would be another 30-35 minute wait even though we had reservations. When she was questioned about the time of our reservation, we were told "Well you'd be waiting an hour and a half if you didn't have a reservation". I don't think this was an appropriate response and her tone of voice was so disrespectful. If the reservations got backed up or a previous table took longer to leave, why not just say, "We are sorry - let me get you a drink at the bar"? Bartender: A+ We went upstairs for cocktails, which were great. I had a margarita - YUM! The bartender was friendly even though he was swamped with customers. Service / Entree - FAIL When we were seated, it was 7:40 (40 minutes past our reservation time). My husband was really in the mood for a Blue Moon, which is not offered here. So, he asked the server if they had anything similar to a Blue Moon. Her response was "I don't know" and she shrugged her shoulders. Again, a very bizarre response from a server. How about a response like this instead: "Hmm .. I'm not sure. Let me check with our bartender and I'll be back with a suggestion for you"??? Nope .. just a plain "I don't know". We asked her to check with her bartender - she returned to the table with a sample of a beer - did not know what it was called and it tasted nothing like Blue Moon. I doubt she asked the bartender. For an app, we shared the skillet corn bread and wedge salad, which are always a hit. The corn bread was good but the wedge salad tasted like it was sitting in the fridge for too long. The plate was watery and the bottom of the lettuce was soggy. :( My hubby ordered the filet mignon medium well - it arrived in two sad butterflied pieces. :( Usually a server would ask before serving a butterflied piece of meat - that is not what we asked for and the taste of the filet was not great because of it. My father in law also had a filet requested medium (it did not come butterflied, but it was pretty rare). I had a seared ahi tuna with a coconut fried rice. The kicker was - everyone was served their entrees first (three steaks) and the server said she'd be right back with mine. I waited a good 15 minutes until she came around to our side of the restaurant - saw that I did not have my entree yet and she scurried away and came back with a VERY SAD looking plate. It had to have been sitting - the tuna was lopsided on the plate and instead of coconut fried rice I had some kind of risotto and peppers. I asked her if that was the coconut fried rice and she looked at it and said, "I think so but I'll double check" when she came back about a desert order, she said "Oh yeah, that was the fried rice". Dessert - C We had the banana cream pie, which is usually a fave of mine. For some reason, there was no banana in the pie - instead, it was sliced around the plate and the pie tasted like just cream. There was also no chocolate shavings like it usually comes with. This experience has made me question what Cowfish has become. When it first opened, everything was spot on - service, drinks, entrees, etc. The beautiful location is also a huge plus. Please don't become one of those establishments that relies on the location for business - I want the old Cowfish back! read more

BEAUTIFUL atmosphere. There was live music, outdoor seating, and we enjoyed great service and most importantly Delicious food. We tried the filet mignon lobster, truffle sushi(this will not be forgotten) it was fantastic. Also, had the prime rib special which was HUGE. I would like to give this 5 stars because of the delicious food, food service, and great vibe. The reason I want to give this one star is because we were forced to park ourselves in a nearby marina by some curly head valet. We had to walk the main road, in the dark, in heels, about 1/2 a mile to the restaurant. I don't understand this as there is valet parking that we passed, as well as other cars pulling you to it, and no one else was forced to walk. I would like to give this no stars because as we passed the valets as we were leaving, my girlfriends and I commented about how far we have to walk in heels and in the dark, and the same curly-haired valet told us "I don't give a f**k." I was mortified that he would speak to us girls this way AND that we were forced to walk, in the dark, on a main road, by ourselves. Horrible parking and valet service. Something needs to get fixed before I recommend this play to someone else. Not to mention, my girlfriend's heel broke as we were walking, and she had to walk barefoot. Horrible! read more

Been going to Cowfish for 15 years. Enjoy the location so much we decided to have our daughters wedding there. The first wedding we planned was cancelled due to Covid so we rescheduled for sept. We were assured by the staff,which included managers and event planners, that we could have an indoor wedding at 50% capacity until 3 weeks before the wedding. No state laws changes in months. They just didn't bother to find out what the rules were. When they finally figured out the rules they told us we could have 50 ppl but the restaurant would not be closed for us. The restaurant was packed that day. Unfortunately the outdoor wedding was forgotten by the staff. The service was poor. The bride and groom had to chase down a waiter to get them dinners! Guests complained to me about rude and neglectful service. We paid for 4 hrs of open bar, they tried to close it after serving us for 3 hrs. This led to me having to search for a manager in the middle of the wedding. Never plan an event here. Very disappointing! read more
