Great food and the staff/owner is so nice! The sushi is soooooo fresh and the food quality is amazing. Love dining here

We had not planned on eating at cowtown sushi but after standing in the doorway of Sushi Sam for 10 minutes unnoticed we thought we would give it a try. Upon arrival you are immediately greeted with a wonderful waterfall. A hostess sat us quickly in the only remaining two top in the place. It was Saturday night around 7 PM so I wasn't surprised by the ground. Lots of families with children. This is also not a surprise as they are next door to Urban Air. They have a modest beer, sake and wine list. I opted for the Sauvignon Blanc and it paired well with our beef fried rice and fancy sushi roll. I also had a piece of salmon and a piece on tuna and boy is the wasabi fresh. The wait staff constantly checked on us and we enjoyed our meal. This place is on the smaller side but it is intimate enough for date night.

Cowtown Sushi? What a combination. This restaurant is located in the less bustling side of Southlake, where you start to find more and more eating options. Although it's a sushi place, you don't feel like that much Japanese as you walk in like other over-decorated sushi houses. The decor is simple and welcoming. With the soft listening music playing, it makes a relaxing and comfortable place to dine in. So much about non-food business. Here comes the food part. I ordered a yellowtail sashimi with a regular miso soup. The soup was tasty - nothing spectacular, but quite decent. The sashimi was chilled nicely and as fresh as it could be. The taste was mild, delicate, and buttery. I like yellowtail because it has a lighter fish flavor than salmon. There were five chunky slices nicely placed on a white china plate. See my picture later. They were so good that I could easily have another five without shame. The place looks a bit dark as most of the furniture looks dark and gray. There is a running water curtain near the entrance, giving you a soothing and tranquil feeling as you enjoy the food.

Very yummy! Chirashi priced at $20 was well priced for the value and amount served. Edamame appetizer was so little served for a big price. Kids beef teriyaki was a big value and perfect for a 9 year old. Nice atmosphere, perfect for a dinner date.

Stopped by for dinner... and was definitely pleasantly surprised. Without the help of Yelp, I probably wouldn't not have gone to this place because the outside of the store doesn't exactly look inviting. Upon entering, I was happy to find that the atmosphere is great - trendy and comfortable (as the other reviews have mentioned)! As for the food, I ordered their Chirashi Sushi. YUM! Very fresh. http://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/M6Bz6V0oqMAuReoA7XnRDQ?select=vSUE5ZlyYXhZ2X1Ty_Z86g http://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/M6Bz6V0oqMAuReoA7XnRDQ?select=3LO_GicR0ib63P8JHzAkng Colleague ordered their steam dumplings (pork gyoza), which I took a few pieces to try. Dumplings very lightly flavored with a very thin dumpling skin. YUM! Finished my meal off with Asahi Kuronama Dark Beer. Definitely one of the better places that I've tried in the Dallas area (since I've been here for work)!

Nice little sushi restaurant off of Southlake blvd. It's in a shopping center so it looks a little odd from the outside appearance but the ambiance and decor inside is much better. The sushi tasted fresh and price comparable to other restaurants. I really enjoyed the salmon lover roll which is a riceless roll. Crab meat rolled in salmon and topped with a jalapeño in a siracha flavored sauce. The Mount Fuji roll was good as well. We also had the beef teriyaki bento box. (See picture) I felt like it was a little overpriced. $17 for a small piece of steak, one fried shrimp , a couple of fried vegetables, three dumplings , and side of rice . Service could of been better. After we received our menus the waiter seem to be preoccupied. We had to wave him down to place our order. After we received our food we didn't see the waiter again. He didn't come by to check on us, or refill our water. We had to again wave down our waiter to ask for our check.. I still left a decent tip but service could of been better.

My son is the biggest sushi lover. He enjoyed himself. The sushi was flavorful and the sauce was not only pretty but tasty as well. The only thing I'd say would be to have descriptions of all the rolls. It made it harder to order because there were only descriptions of the specialty rolls. My son said we can go back to this place and that is a compliment in itself.

It's a very pretty presentation, but a lot of the garnish went to waste. Also, how much did the ice sculpture add to the cost?
    Eric W.

Solid A-OK. The quality is good, but it's a bit pricey. Our sashimi plate ($30) was beautiful (see picture). A bed of ice, cute trees made from wasabi and green onions. Copious piles of shredded carrot. A Christmas tree "ice sculpture" flickered in one corner. I wondered how much all this flash added to the cost? Don't get me wrong, the quality was good, it's just that I don't want all this useless garnish. We come for the food, not the show. We also had a Spider Roll, which was a decent size, just a bit short on the soft shell crab. It was an OK value at $7.50. Average price for a single piece of sushi was $2.75. Ambiance wise it's modern, with background music that sounded like Cirque du Soleil. Were it not for the one table with a slightly fussy child, it would have been a fairly romatic option. From our seats at the sushi bar, we also saw a brisk takeout business too. Bottom line: A-OK. Might put it on the "go to" list if we don't feel like driving to Irving.

Everything comes out quickly, as all of the proteins are pre sliced and ready to go. They were busy and the turn around is quick. They also do a lot of to go orders, and those were stacked up by the front door. I thought the quality of the fish was good for the price. I really liked the ginger dressing that comes on the salad, though it is a wild color. The gyoza just tasted like frozen dumplings you can buy at the store, and then deep fried. But they were good. The rice was cooked properly, and not mushy at all. The only thing I didn't care for was the California roll. It was super goopy and just tasted like mayo. I had to leave that alone. The atmosphere is very noisy and if you are sitting at the sushi bar, you hear the constant beeping of their order machine. I may try them again for dinner if it is a bit quieter, or takout seems like a good option, though there is no online ordering on their website.

I like that they have combinations (e.g. filet mignon&chicken). We loved the filet mignon. The chicken was a little dry both times we have ordered it; ask the hibachi chef for some of the teriyaki sauce on the side. I am not a shrimp fan, but shrimp in their yum yum sauce - holy cow! I am seriously considering ordering shrimp and scallops as my meal next time, because the seafood in yum yum sauce is amazing here. The staff is super friendly and readily accommodated my husband's endless requests. (Can I get mine with a double portion of fried rice? Two soups instead of soup and salad? A dish of that teriyaki sauce on the side?) Our favorite hibachi chef is Antonio. He was creative, friendly, and jived well with the family extroverts. The interior looks classiest after dark because of the lighting, so we will make a habit of coming more often in the winter. In the daylight it's just all right. The noise level and seating arrangements may make it difficult to have a conversation with more than one or two other people at your table, which is common in a hibachi restaurant. There was also a vent in the exhaust hood that rattled loudly over my head the whole time, but we were still able to carry on a conversation between four of us when we brought my husband's parents. Overall a decent choice for a good hibachi dinner.

Staff is attentive. From the moment we walked in, we were greeted warmly and seated promptly. Throughout the meal, the staff was friendly although they too are learning the menu requiring us to point out the dishes we wanted to try, and missing a third of the order with each food delivery but overall servers had a good attitude, attractive uniforms and service/ menu familiarization will improve over time. As you can see in the photos the menu variety is impressive and the flavors were decent, but the taste and freshness of the fish fell short of desired and is not on par with other sushi restaurants in the area. While not terrible by any means, Takara is more of a fast-food eatery meaning it lacks quality but that's where quantity comes in and if you're looking for food fest with variety this is an option. I didn't try many of the non-sushi items but those I did (yakisoba/ potstickers) were around the 2-star mark on flavor they also have a dine in/ not all you can eat menu with bento boxes and other traditional dishes that I did not try. For all you can eat, recommend serving half a sushi roll vs the whole roll to allow patrons to sample more/ get the variety they are looking for, in addition to, reducing waste should someone not enjoy a particular roll. Leaving the yelp midmark of three stars for food that's not bad but also not awesome.

Though I did appreciate that they use the pieces of krab instead of a krab salad mix. It was fine but nothing to write home about. The nigiri was a bummer. The texture was kind of chewy, like it had been frozen too long. Not that it was bad, it smelled and tasted fine, but I would rate this on par with grocery store quality. The salad was cold and crunchy but pretty flavorless and was half full of liquid on the bottom. The waitress asked me if I wanted anything else while I was still eating and brought the check.
